Challenge 5
 Best practices are those practices that have been shown to
produce superior results, selected by a systematic process,
and judged as exemplary, good, or successfully demonstrated
these practices are then adapted to fit a particular
organization.
 Benchmarking is a systematic process used for identifying and
implementing best or better practices
 Benchmarking is a process of comparing one’s business
processes and performance metrics to industry best and/ or
best practices from other industries
 It gives answers to questions like-
 why the others are better?
 How are others better?
 What are we lagging in?
 Problems occurring to enhance organization processes?
 How can we become best in industry?
 Ants are the most beautiful example for the discipline that they
follow.
 Always they move in a group and that to into straight line
 The ants work together and shows teamwork
 Toyota is known for its best practices throughout the world
 They have achieved this by working on the Quality as the priority
 They have given importance to the processes, design, training &
services
 They have developed the concepts of manufacturing like Poka-yoke,
Gemba kaizen, 5S, Muda-Mura-Muri, Lean manufacturing, Just in
time, etc
 They groom the staff to be leaders
 Indian Army is having best practices that are developed
due to rigorous training and discipline
 The Indian army is dealing in very unfavorable living
conditions
 It teaches the leadership and risk taking capabilities
 It develops the confidence and increases the moral of
soldiers
 Pizza hut is known for its standard and quality of
products
 A placement committee to be built which could help in having a cordial
relationship with various companies and thus the placement of the
students can be increased
 For the students the college should involve training and grooming
sessions which involve improving their soft skills
 Guest lectures from eminent speakers from various sectors/ domains
to have an up-to-date knowledge of the current scenario of the market
 The College should work on the practical situation training and
exposure to latest trends
 The information support system should be above average
 The design of the syllabus should be new and advanced as of today it is
old
 Mock interviews with supervision of expert
 Practical approach to problems in industries
 Learning with examples of other institution that are doing
better
 Maintaining and promoting discipline among the students
and staff
 Building morale and team spirit among staff and students
 Working on continuous improvement of standard of students
and staff to achieve better placement and creating a brand
name
 Identify the problems that are responsible
for the organization which are holding them
back
 Look for the best practices in organizations,
industry and outside industry that are not
used properly in the organization
 After identifying see how one can use these
best practices in the current organization
 These helps in becoming better and efficient
and also become best in the industry
