Distributing is the process of sharing something out amongst a mass number of
people. For example, in relation to music videos, record companies would distribute
the song of an artists.
Producing is the process involved in the making behind something. For example, in
relation to music this is the making part of a music video and can also involve the
costings behind it.
3. I am going to be having a look at some famous RnB
songs and see if there are any similar record
companies that chose to distribute the songs or
whether they are different. I will also mention the
producer of each song and what genre they often
work in.
4. MARIAH CAREY’S ‘’WE BELONG TOGETHER’’
The company that distributed Mariah Carey’s song is called ‘’Island Records’’ it was
founded in 1959 and is a major record label that operates as part of the Universal
Music Group. They have distributed a lot of R&B artists music including the
amazing Nicki Minaj.
Jermaine Dupri produced this song. He is known for working in this genre RnB as
well as hip hop and soul. He is an American Record Producer, songwriter and
rapper.
He was nominated in 2006 for the ‘’Best RnB song’’ and won the award too.
He has also produced songs for RnB artist Usher.
5. BEYONCÉ'S ‘’IF I WERE A BOY’’
The company that distributed Beyonce’s song was ‘’Columbia Records’’ it’s an American
recording label under the owner ship of Sony Music Entertainment. It’s the oldest
surviving record brand name in the industry. Once again this label distributes quite a lot
of R&B artists, including Celine Dion etc.
Tony Gad was the producer of this song. He is a Los Angeles based German music
producer/song writer. He has produced several songs for several R & B artists and is
known for working amidst this genre. He is notable for ‘’Don’t hold your breath’’ By
Nicole Scherzinger, ‘’Skyscraper’’ By Demi Lovato and Fergi’s ‘’Big Girls Don’t Cry.’’
6. JENNIFER HUDSON ‘’IF THIS ISN’T LOVE’’
The company that distributed this song were called ‘’Arista Records’’ it’s an
American major record company. This company don’t specifically have a genre
which they distribute for however have often in the past worked with several artists
who are R&B rooted.
Brian Kennedy produced this song. He is an American song writer, record
producer. He was credited with his feature production on singer Ciara’s album. He
also earned a Grammy Award in 2009 for his contribution to this song. He is known
for working with Artists in this genre. He was worked with Rihanna in her song
‘’Disterbia’’ and working with Usher in his ‘’Forever edition’’
