4. Janata Bank Ltd. (JBL) was born as the first hundred percent Bangladeshi
owned Bank in the private sector. From the inception, it is the firm
determination of Janata Bank Ltd. to play a vital role in the national economy.
Bank has been drawing arrangements with well conversant money transfer
service agency “Western Union”. It has a full time arrangement for speedy
transfer of money all over the world. JBL introduced Monthly Savings
Scheme, Special Deposit Scheme, Consumer’s Credit Scheme, etc. to combine
the people of lower and middle-income group.
On 15th November, 2007, Janata Bank got registered with the Joint Stock of
Registrars and restructured it as a public limited company with the name
“Janata Bank Ltd.”

9. Credit Cards
A credit card is the newest concept in our country. In our country,
credit cards were first introduced by the Janata Bank Ltd. MasterCard
and VISA card are the names of the popular credit card bands. Credit
cards are safe, instant and universal money. Janata Bank Ltd. issued
two types of credit cards, which are as follows:

10. JBLATM Services
ATM means automated teller machine. JBL ATM card gives
opportunity to their customer that they can withdraw their money at
any time, any days, even on holidays. By using ATM, subscriber can
give various utility bills, such as telephone, gas, electricity bills etc.
actually ATM card is a debit card. Janata Bank Ltd. has introduced
ATM service to its customers. The card will enable to save their valued
customers from any kind of predicament in emergency situation and
time consuming formalities. JBL ATM Card will give their
distinguished clients the opportunity to withdraw cash at any time,
even on holidays, 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week. ATM cardholders
need to pay Tk. 1000 annually, and in the case of card lost; the
subscribers also need to pay additional Tk. 300.

Janata Bank Ltd. has the strong goodwill in the banking sector.
Even as an old private bank, it has a strong experience in this sector.
One of the largest number of bank branches in the country.
They are stronger based on capital and assets.
Highest number of clients.
Weakness
IT section is weak compared to others as they are using old and outdated software and
tools.
Sometimes, they have to pay extra time due to not having any expert in different branches.
ATM cards and booths are the vital drawbacks among them.
Refreshment facility is poor where the customer is the key to bring deposits.
Most of the employees are not skilled highly.

Due to having a strong brand image, they may establish different industries or
firms. For instance, housing, consumer products etc.
They may launch E-banking, mobile banking and strong online banking.
Branches, as well as booth, may set up in different areas.

Inefficiencies occur within the operations of the bank.

SWOT Analysis
15. Janata Bank Ltd. is one of the giant banks in the government banking sector.
This bank has various products and services to offer to its clients and
customers. Among them, many services are the first for a nationalized bank.
Janata Bank Ltd. always tries to increase their profitability through different
services reaching to the customers’ hand. To be more accessible to the
customers, they are increasing their branches as well as their services. And that
is why their overall number of branches is more than 900. More services are
providing more easily about how these can be done always they always analyze
about them. To be more than 40 years of experience, they have the great
advantage of banking journey by a long path. They believe that the customers’
satisfaction is the indicator of wealth maximization.
Conclusion
16. Technological growth is little bit slower than other government
banks.
Online banking is not reliable and strong enough.
In term of servers, JBL is slightly ahead of other government banks.
Has lack of adequate liquidity.
Management system is weak.
Absenteeism rate is high.
Office equipments are obsolete and it takes long time to replace.
Findings
17. JBL can change their working environment by creating positive attitude to their
employees & they should change their interior decoration.
JBL should hire younger, flexible, energetic and adept employees so that they
can handle most of the tasks thoroughly.
JBL should give more freedom to their branches for taking decisions & their
head office should take decisions more quickly.
JBL should build separate loan recovery division; if it happens, then their
classified loan amount will reduce and they can invest much more.
JBL should go through the on line banking as early as possible for better service
to the customer.
If they establish most powerful networking system with their branches then it
can easily transfer data within short time.
As a result, JBL should provide quick services to the customers by the help of
modern technology.
