4. Introduction
The foreign exchange market is the market
where the currencies are traded. A currency is
the money of a country. It serves as the
country's legal tender, the medium with which
debts can be discharged and taxes can be paid.
The foreign exchange market is the largest
component of the international capital market.
Foreign Exchange is traded everywhere; there is
a banking center. A large and diverse group of
market participants are active in the foreign
exchange market.
As a general rule, every country has its own
currency, though there are some prominent
exceptions. By extension, practically every
country has a central bank. (DeRosa, David F.

17. Findings of the Study
Southeast Bank is quite an expert in the
foreign trade handling of exports and imports.
Southeast Bank is quite cautious in the trade
financing of exports and imports to prevent
any sort of fraud.
Staff and employees in the foreign exchange
department do not receive adequate on-the-
job training.
The Foreign Exchange Department of SEBL is
strictly controlled and monitored by the
Bangladesh Bank, however, owing to a lack of
expertise or experience on the behalf of the
officials, the rules and regulations are not
always followed correctly continually.
To open a new L/C, the bank takes a long time
for the approval of a new client.
18. Recommendations
Despite the fact that the Southeast Bank specializes in
export and import transactions, hence, it is crucial to
look after the foreign exchange department.
Southeast Bank should be more cautious in its foreign
exchange activities to prevent more frauds and errors.
The HR department of the bank should take immediate
steps now for the on-the-job training of the young,
brilliant, and active employees so that they can do and
complete their respective tasks successfully.
In Bangladesh, SEBL is very traditional to post-shipment
finance although there are excessive limitations to
foreign trade. But if the bank took a bit more generous
place, exporters could easily come out of financial
limitations.
To open a new L/C, the bank must take immediate steps
in advertising tactics to draw attention for approval to a
new client, which will raise total import and export
business.
