The 'State of Business Presentations Survey' continues to highlight recent trends in the world of PowerPoint, Keynote, Prezi et al. This series of short surveys aimed to understand more about the prevalence, profile and peeves associated with presentations in business today. In terms of tech, there seem to be two key messages - (gradual) change is afoot...and don't believe the hype. First up - take a look at the infographic which shows the glacial speed of change! PowerPoint remains top dog in the eyes of our survey respondents (no surprise there, then) however the mix of presentation types caught our eye - in particular, 'Old school' approaches to business presentations like whiteboarding look to be having a resurgence. This is all rather marvellous and demonstrates that the nirvana of 'Blended Presenting' could be within the grasp of many business presenters. Keep it up... And then, of course, we need to address the 'Don't Believe the Hype' elephant in the room. While Prezi can boast millions of users (50 million registered at the start of 2014), it would seem that not that many of them actually use the technology once they've registered. Our 'glass half full' analysis of this is that users are using Prezi selectively - it's brilliant for certain types of presentations...and plain awful for others. Prezi users are simply thinking harder before reaching for the mouse - bravo! We wager that if the legions of PowerPoint users approached their use of Microsoft's product in a similar, more considered way, audiences across the World would rejoice...but that's another story. More insight to follow over the coming weeks. If you'd like to contribute to our next survey ('the Art of Delivery'), follow us on Twitter and get involved...
