• Western Georgia - Animal located in high risk area (LR/SR);
• Live animal markets, migrated animals, villages bordering with neighboring countries;
villages bordering with occupied territory;

4. • Animal Density SR/LR;
• Seasonal Migration SR/LR;
• Live Animal Market;
• Vet inspection points;
• Water sources;
• International Trade;
• Pasture;
• Animal Market;
• Quarantine Zones;
5. • NSP sero- surveillance in Georgia has been conducting by four risk categories:
• 1. Villages with high risk categories;
• 2. Villages with low risk categories;
• 3. Migrating animals in Eastern Georgia;
• 4. Villages in Candidate Area.
• NSP Sero- Surveillance – 5000 samples each year;
• NSP Sero- Surveillance follow-up 500 samples each year;
• SP Sero- Surveillance 500 samples each year;
8. Territory selection criteria:
• Geographically isolated territories;
• Only few entrance are available in both region;
• Strict climatic conditions;
• No Seasonal migration;
• Low animal density (1,0 animals per 1 km2);
• Historically favorable epizootic situation related to FMD;
• Low prevalence of non-structural proteins;
• 107 villages and 3 074 animals were investigated;
• Data were entered in electronic system – Epicollect 5
9. VACCINE used in country - Sholkovo vaccine
• Type O: PanAsia-2
• Type A: Iran 05; G-VII
• Type Asia1: Shamir/Sindh-08
Sampling area were selected-based on following criteria;
• Low NSP circulation area
• Area with non vaccinated animals
• Area existing with both specious (LR/SR)
• Permission of sampling from animal owners involved in the trial
10. The following protocol was elaborated
• Species – large and small ruminants;
• Status – animals with free from FMDV and antibodies, not vaccinated against FMD;
• Age – six to Twelve months;
• Number – totally 20 cattle and 20 sheep (9 vaccinated, 9 with revaccination and 2
control animals).
• Animal identification – individually identified (ear tag);
• Housing – animals should be kept in local area
11. • SEROCONVERSION POST SINGLE VACCINATION:14 DPV 60-80% seropositive animals but very fast
Ab decay (negative 90 DPV)
• Low Ab levels
• Insufficient immunity
• BOOSTER VACCINATION: Significant Ab booster 30 days after revaccination, ALL positives above the
presumed protection level
• A booster vaccination is necessary to elicit a strong and fast rise of Ab;
• Duration estimates should be planned;
• SPECIES: better immune-response in SR than in LR after a single vaccination (particularly for serotype A
and Asia1); opposite after booster vaccination.
13. • First simulation exercise has been conducted in 2016;
• Second simulation exercise has been conducted in 2019;
• Next is planed in 2023;

• 267 933 SR were vaccinated/revaccinated in 2022;
• Active sero-survey campaign (Project) conducted in
Georgia which was funded by DTRA;
• Totally 3 200 SR has been tested under this project;
