11. 2014 Use of Funds
As the leading pediatric medical center in the region, East Tennessee Children’s Hospital
provides a child-friendly environment, more than 30 pediatric specialties and numerous
outreach programs to our community.
Children’s Hospital relies on the support of East Tennesseans like you to continue to offer high
quality, state-of-the-art care. Without fundraising events like Fantasy of Trees, the hospital
would not be able to purchase the equipment its staff needs to improve each child’s health
and lifestyle.
This year, your contribution to Fantasy of Trees will help purchase an OPMI Pentero
Microscope that will provide neurosurgeons clearer and more powerful magnification during
surgery. The advanced technology also updates the surgeon with findings and patient
information throughout the surgery. It costs more than $300,000 and will expand our
neurosurgeons’ working range, comfort while operating and real-time knowledge of patient
status.
In 2013, Children’s Hospital treated more than 148,000 patients from East Tennessee and
surrounding states. From our most vulnerable patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to
teenagers managing chronic illnesses, Children’s Hospital cares for sons, daughters, sisters
and brothers with a wide variety of health concerns and circumstances.
12. Adopt-a-Trees

All area schools and local children’s organizations are invited to participate. This year, more than 65
