2. Use the Estimote demo app
Estimote’s demo apps are designed to work “out of the box”
with our beacons. Use them to explore and understand beacon
functionality, as well as demo capabilities
Connect to a beacon
From the app’s home screen, tap Beacons and then select the beacon to which you
would like to connect. The Beacon Details screen provides vital info about your beacon,
such as UUID, major, minor, battery status, advertising interval, & broadcasting power.

3. Configure your beacon
Once connected and authenticated into a beacon, you can easily change its settings.
Beyond changing the beacon’s unique identifiers (UUID, major, and minor values), it is
also possible to update its advertising interval and broadcast power.
Simply connect to a beacon and scroll down on the Beacon Details screen to access the
controls for advertising interval and broadcast power. Use the slider to choose desired
configuration, bearing in mind that adjusting settings may affect battery life.

4. Distance demo
Use the Distance demo to visualize the distance between a beacon and your mobile
device. It’s a powerful demo, the functionality of which lies at the core of everything else
you can do with Estimote Beacons. The Estimote demo app measures how far away a
particular beacon is by calculating the beacon’s ID and RSSI (received signal strength
indication).
Tap Distance on the app’s home screen, select a beacon, and then move away from that
beacon to see the dot move in real time.

5. Proximity demo
Use the Proximity demo to visualize a relevant message upon crossing between zones
(Immediate, Near, Far) in a beacon’s broadcast range. The demo monitors your mobile
device’s distance to the beacon and serves up contextual content as appropriate. The
demo uses a shoe store as an example: welcome message, introduction to a particular
collection, and product specific information.
Tap Proximity on the app’s home screen, select a beacon, and then move near and far
from that beacon to trigger content notifications.

6. Build your own apps
All of the demos available in Estimote’s apps can be recreated with sample code
available on our website. Additionally, our SDK’s are available on GitHub, making
development for iOS and Android an easy process.
