2. THE ARTIST’S TALENT
Multi-talented artists tend to use their music videos as a platform for
expressing their many talents. For example Beyoncé can sing, dance
and looks attractive.
Also important when an artist can play an instrument.
This also increases promotion of music concerts as it suggests the artist
would be entertaining to watch.
3. EYE CONTACT
Eye contact is important to connect the artist to their audience and make
the viewer feel like they are involved in the experience. Eye contact is
especially important for solo artists and new artists so that the
audience can become familiar with them as an individual.
This feature of music videos will be important for me because I will be
developing a music video for a new artist.
4. MISE EN SCENE, LOCATIONS AND SETTINGS
Visual elements can reflect the music genre of the song (set in a club – dance
genre). This can be a strength for an artist to appeal to their specific target
audience. The most common examples are urban locations, with the artist in
stylish clothes of the current trends. These tend to attract young audiences
which is effective because the vast majority of people that watch music
videos are of a younger age group..
