This guide is designed to help you communicate more clearly with your Spanish-speaking
partners. It includes words and phrases that will allow you to carry on simple conversations in
Spanish, whether you are making a request, offering information or socializing.
Each section includes Spanish translations of words and phrases you may use every day, along with
their phonetic spellings to help you with pronunciation. Capitalized letters in the phonetic spellings
indicate where to place the accent/stress.
As in any language, there may be more than one way to express your message in Spanish;
this guide includes the most universal translations.
