Aluminum parts producers are looking to metals recovery systems to control costs of primary and
secondary aluminum purchases and to mitigate their operating cost by capturing value from
byproducts. A metals recycling operation in Arkansas needed to upgrade their existing system,
which was an early design pretreatment system with rudimentary drying technology.

EPCON designed an integrated system consisted of Processing Oven, featuring with Dual Lane Conveyor system
with precision lane adjustment mechanism, unique air distribution nozzles arrangement to offer high and low-
pressure air impingement over specific areas of HVAC coil. The combination of higher recirculation rate and
turbulence in oven processing chamber offered end user to achieve proper cleaning of parts in shorter time.

10. Recuperative Thermal Oxidizer and Heat Recovery System for Aluminum Recycling Operation
Evaluating the appropriate oxidation system for a specific process stream is more challenging and requires in
depth analysis of the specific process gas and operating parameters, as there are many configurations to choose
from. For this application , an 18,000 SCFM Recuperative Thermal Oxidizer with Primary and Secondary Heat
Exchanger was installed. This eliminated the need for the natural gas burner in the Rotary Kiln all together.

11. Coil Coating Line with Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer and Multistage Heat Recovery
Evaluating the appropriate oxidation system for a specific process stream is more challenging and requires in depth
analysis of the specific process gas and operating parameters, as there are many configurations to choose from. A Direct
Fired Afterburner, sometimes called an incinerator, is the most elementary system, as it contains no heat recovery system.
Ideal for high VOC levels and fluctuating operating conditions. Thermal oxidizers are more sophisticated systems with a
variety of heat recovery systems and configurations, typically used for larger process air flows.

12. Coil Coating System for Metal Processing Featuring Oxidizer, Ovens and Multistage Heat Recovery
After extensive evaluation and consideration of the existing system operation, it was determined that the optimal solution
for this application is the use of a combination system layout, consisting of a 3-Zone Prime Oven & 4-Zone Finish Oven
with a single standalone Thermal Oxidizer system, along with the secondary heat recovery system. The combination
system works to capitalize on every part of the process, ensuring no heat nor material go to waste.

13. Thermal Oxidizer with Comprehensive Heat Recovery for Continuous Web Processing Application
Epcon was awarded the major contract to build a Thermal Oxidizer with Comprehensive Heat Recovery for this continuous
web processing application. This patented designed Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer achieves 98 to 99.5% DRE on a 2-CAN
RTO. This particular system has a high solvent by pass in case the system overloads, with an Oxidization system equipped
with a plate and shell Heat Exchanger, to recycle the heat back into the Ovens. Also, it features an air-to-liquid built in Heat
Exchanger.
