Optometry is a healthcare profession concerned
with the eyes and related structures, as well

processing in humans. Optometrists are trained to

3. Eligibility
To pursue a Diploma or B.Sc. course in Optometry one
needs a background in Science in 10+2 with Physics,
Chemistry, English and Biology or Mathematics.
Selection criteria may vary among institutes, who may
also conduct their own entrance examinations. Post-
graduate diplomas in Optometry require a graduate
degree from any subject – though a science
background definitely gives an advantage. Master and
M.Phil programs require a completed Bachelor degree
and Master degree in optometry respectively.
