● Perth was named because of the River Tay
which is located in Bertha The Aber=mount of
the Tay.
● It has always been an important center, a
meeting point between the traffic and the river
traffic.
● Its location makes it an ideal basis for
sightseeing tours.

Its population was 1,658,992 inhabitants in 2009
making it the fourth largest in the country

The first people to live in the area were the
Aboriginals.
They had occupied the land for thousands of
years before European settlers arrived.
The Wujuk people lived in the area in the south-
west.

● Perth has a Mediterenean climate which means
that the summer average temperature is about
29° c but can reach 40°c. In winter the average
temperature is about 17° c and rarely falls
below 9°c. Perth is a very windy city.
