Narrative Essay Many teens consider community service a chore to complete in order to graduate
or something to include on a college application. Yes, I was one of those teens in my high school
years, but because I didn't really know what community service was really about, and I hadn't
experienced it until my history class. With this opportunity I was able to experience this wonderful
community service taught me more than what I could ever give.
When I was in high school I had this history subject in which community service was a requirement
to pass the class, because of this we had to complete 18 hours of community service during the
semester. To be honest,...show more content...
I walked there with three girls named Alicia, Veronica and Karla. They showed me where their
beds where and gave me a whole tour around the institution. I was impressed with all the beds they
had, it was a huge wide room with many vertically arranged beds for each and every one of them.
I started on cleaning and washing all the bed quilts, and all the girls were willing to help within
everything, I didn't feel it was a job. They all seemed so cheerful and happy because somebody
came to help them. Though, I was the one who got out learning things I hardly knew about. They all
looked so mature to me, but I only could see a little girl from the outside.
Then, I saw from across the room a very shy and quite little girl, she barely talked and interacted
with the others. So, I went up to her, and asked her name. "My name is Sofia," she said with tears
in her eyes, "What's wrong?", I asked. The other girls told me she had just arrived to the
orphanage a few days ago. So, I grabbed her hand and went to the kitchen to give her a sandwich.
She was amazed the whole sandwich was just for her, and she couldn't stop thanking me. This
shocked me a lot because there are many children out there that don't have a place to stay or
anything to eat, while we who have the privilege to have a place to call home, food always on the
table, and most importantly a family, we take all that and everybody for granted. We should place
more value on all those

My Involvement On The Community Service Essay
Activism Project To discuss my involvement in the various communities, I will start off by
explaining how my involvement impacted me innumerable ways. Furthermore, the community
service that I was involved in deals with the social problem of poverty and class inequality. This issue
is something that a vast majority of Americans is always facing all the time. Correspondingly, this
issue often correlates with constant discrimination that is happening towards the minorities
especially African Americans and Hispanics. That is the reason why activist constantly tries to deal
with this issue by conveying their message through various methods. The organization that I was
involved in is the Atlanta Community Food Bank. This organization, along with other organization
to distribute millions of foods across to metro Atlanta and north Georgia. The Atlanta Community
Food Bank also delivers several foods and other critical information that contains various resources
to help people who are low–income earners. For example, "the agencies that receive the stuff is
constantly being provided by the Atlanta Community Food Bank is food pantries, community
kitchen, childcare centers, and senior citizens" (Atlanta Community Food Bank). These are the
agency that the Atlanta Community Food Bank most commonly provides. However, that is not the
only thing that the Atlanta Community Food Bank does; this organization also tries to educate and
engage with people who are in

"Volunteers are not paid; not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless."– Sherry
Anderson (Volunteering Quotes: Finest Quotes). On average, when people think about community
service, they assume that volunteering is just 'hours we need to be able to graduate' and that is it.
Community service is more than just hours; community service is based on the acts performed by
someone with the purpose of helping or bringing benefits to his or her community. People frequently
compare community service as a punishment since it is often offered to small–time offenders as an
alternative to fines or jail time. However, community service is the vital force to many communities
since they depend on the service made by the volunteers...show more content...
Volunteering in your community helps solve many dilemmas in your community that descend
through the eyes of government and social agencies (Everything you ever wanted to know about
volunteering). Discussing about volunteering to teenagers should be the first step for a better life,
since teenagers are the future of tomorrow and they will leave a mark from yesterday. Volunteering
has been such an important matter, that schools in many countries around the world established that
12th grade students will need certain hours of community service in order to graduate. But the
frequent answers all the schools are getting are "Why do I need to volunteer? I have better things to
do!" What people are forgetting is that each one of them is part of a community, a community that is
not perfect and that the government sometimes forgets about their problems or needs, because
obviously the government needs to take care of other things that require more attention. People are
not only helping others, they are also helping themselves (Volunteering). Volunteering is not a new
subject now, but people did not perceive it before because as time goes by, volunteering is becoming
more and more popular since each year more people volunteer. Volunteering began around the early
19th century since America was experimenting with the Great Awakening. The Great Awakening
was a period in which the importance of the church was slowly dying and instead the

Partnerships between schools and community service organisations will be central to the success of
this program.

Persuasive Essay About Community Service
Community service is something that as a Junior we have to do till senior year. Community
service is when you volunteer to help a non profit organization or a non profit event. This is an
unpaid position. There are many benefits to having teenagers do community service. One benefit
is that teenagers are learning to be more responsible. If they fully commit to the position that they
have agreed to do that shows the responsibility of the individual. They could be doing sports or
watching tv but they choose to help a specific organization which proves their responsibility.
Something I have always loved doing was working with animals. Cats, dogs, snakes, fish, rabbits,
it doesn't matter I love them all. To be able to work in an environment with animals you have to
learn to love them all. I personally never enjoyed small dogs but they eventually grew on me
because I knew they needed just as much love and attention as the big dogs do. For my
community service I chose to volunteer at the MSPCA at Nevins Farm. I was definitely very
excited to be able to work with the animals. I specifically work with the dogs. I have learned so
much about them. The MSPCA is a very important organization and they do a lot of great thing.
But they have also done some bad. They help the community by taking in animals that someone
decided they didn't want, couldn't have, or found as a stray. There are many reasons people give
up there animals. These animals are pretty well taken care of. We feed them, almost all dogs get a
walk 2–4 times per day. To these animals this is a big deal. Many of these animals have never seen
what it means to be loved. Its very sad but true. The first time I went to the MSPCA I was very
annoyed. I had to sit thru a 4 hour orientation and then I had to follow someone around for another
3 hours TWO weeks later before I could do anything. At this point I was extremely annoyed because
I have walked dogs from 5 Pound puppies to 180 pound Cane corso's. I noticed that a lot of the
volunteers had no idea how to actually care for a dog when I first showed up. There was so much
stupid going on and so disorganized. Because I was new we can only walk specific dogs. There are
levels 1–4. Level 1 is dogs that don't pull,

Community Housing of Wyandotte County (CHWC) is a non–profit organization that build, rent
and sell houses for lower prices, to families in need, their goal is to help people to achieve their
dream of having a house or rent a house with affordable payments. CHWC not only provide
houses but they also provide financial counseling and homebuyer assistance, that help individuals
to get better understanding of the process that need to do in order to buy a house. The time I was
there I felt so welcome by the staff and also it helped me to improve my communication skills
since I was at the front desk receiving calls, interacting with the clients, making appointments to
meet with the counselors and receiving the donations from different associations. I had a lot of
good experiences at CHWC, one of the best experiences I had at CHWC was when a family
finally get their house,I was the one who inform them that we had some goods news for them, as
soon the family arrived the counselor speak to them and it was great seeing the face of those
people, they were so happy about it. Another good experience was when a man came into the
office with flowers and a cake for one of the counselors, he was so thankful because he was a first
time homebuyer, and the counselor form CHWC helped him and oriented him, it was a great
experience, I feel like CHWC gives a lot to the community. It was the

Every Sunday, I have the opportunity to help as a child care worker in my church's nursery; and
every week, after spending just one hour watching over the kids so that their parents can go to
service and not have to worry about their children, I remember exactly why I spend my free time
helping others. The term "Noblesse Oblige" is why I choose to be involved in multiple childcare
opportunities and community service clubs. I believe it is my job to make sure those who are less
fortunate, or in need of aid, get the help they require and deserve. I take part in different aspects of
community service because it helps better my community and makes me a stronger leader.
For the past three years at Liberty High School, I have been a member of the Key Club community
service organization. As a member of this club, I am able to help with different jobs around the
community that help the people in our town specifically. For example, every first Wednesday of
the month I go and help with a project called Snack Pack. During this time, about fifteen other
kids and I prepare three weeks worth of food for seventeen high schoolers in our school district.
These are kids that do not have enough money at home to always have food on their table. Snack
Pack plays an important role in their lives because without it, they would not always eat. These
kids deserve the chance to live their life and go to school without having to worry about whether
or not the will eat dinner that night. That is why I value my role in this club so much, because I
know what we do makes a difference. When the kids collect their food, they are able to relax a
little more knowing that their family will be able to eat. Another aspect of Key Club that I take
part in is Fairy Tale Forest, held at Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary. Every year, the
weekend before Halloween, I volunteer, with a handful of others from the club, to go and work at
the children's fairy tale nature walk. The past two years I have been a runner. This means I do the
odd little jobs, like run food and drinks around to the different characters that are working in the
trail, that would otherwise be forgotten or not done at all. Although this is a small role, it is what

As a student, I have demonstrated many works of service to my community and school. Service
opportunities have shaped me into the person I am today and these projects have made me
realize how fortunate I am for all that I have. While I've been doing these service projects through
the years, it has been a pleasure seeing the joy on the faces of people that aren't as fortunate as I
am. Service projects that I have completed include managing the fish booth at the St. Leo's Parish
Festival, being an altar server at St. Leo's Parish, helping cook dinner for the Ridgway Fire
Department during carnival day setup, participating in the St. Marys Light Up Night by dancing,
and Christmas caroling to local residents. I also participated in a zombie/princess

As an 18–year–old tennager, I was forced by my parents to participate a summer volunteer
program in my freshman year. Even though I felt that I was a victim of "tyranny" in the beginning,
I realized that I actually enjoyed the process of helping people in the middle of the program. Now, I
participate that program every year as an active member, and I have gained the personal enrichment
that I am unable to learn from other sources such as math club or SAT preparatory class. There is no
doubt that community service can bring essential benefits in helping students develop their moral
value and future interest, and it should be mandatory because some students attempt to utilize
community service as a tool for their own profit without the school supervision. Volunteerism
enables students to gain the moral lesson that is vital to their life and develop their future interest.
According to source 2, "community service teaches us through experience – about the relationship
between empathy and responsibility, about what it takes to be part of a community, in essence, about
human being". While students are helping their community, they learn the crucial moral lessons in
the most direct and impressive way. Through an actual experience ofvolunteering, students are
reminded that it is their responsibility to serve for their community because they are a part of it.
Helping without any feedback allows them to realize the power of empathy, the essential value that

Essay Community Service Project Reflection
The thought of community service was a bore to me before I began my volunteer work. I dreaded
starting my community service although I knew I had to do it. Where I earned my hours did not
even matter to me. I just wanted to get it over with. To my surprise it was not what I expected.
Community service was not a painful experience; it was a very enjoyable and beneficial experience.
I performed my community service with Habitat for Humanity. The non‐profit organization
chooses the applicant that purchases the house and Habitat only charges them the cost of the
materials. Almost every worker is a volunteer so Habitat for Humanity does not have to pay a high
amount of wages. I felt good about myself being one of those volunteers. The future...show more

We shared many laughs and stories while we worked. It was satisfying to help improve these
people's lives.
I took pleasure in how much I learned at Habitat for Humanity. We were doing construction so
many tools were involved. On my first day I was unaware of the names of most tools. Learning the
names and functions of each tool was exciting. Being a male, I felt more confident knowing these
things. Construction involves math and clever thinking as well. On my first day I just watched as
the processes took place. Eventually, I was helping make the decisions. I even helped a volunteer
build a fence and make precise measurements. The education about construction will benefit me for
the rest of my life.
The amount of respect I earned was an incomparable benefit that I received from community
service. Oil companies volunteered their employees on Saturdays and I spoke with all of them.
They recognized my enrollment and scholarship achievements. Some of them see me and
recognize me around town and they ask about how my goals are going. I met people who made a
huge positive impact on my life. Employees without a college education worked full time at
Habitat for Humanity, and I realized what I do not want to do with my life. During lunch breaks I
spoke with the supervisor, Alynda Best, and she explained to me the significance of hard work in
college. Most importantly, I met the lady who made this opportunity possible for me and she

What Does Community Service Mean To Me Essay
What does community service means to me? Well, to me community service mean helping your
community become a better place. When you do things for your neighborhood, it makes you feel
like a better person. There are all sorts of activities you can do in your community. You can work
with children at school, work with the elderly, or help people that are less fortunate and make
their day very special. Community Service is very important because it gives you a chance to
bond with the people in your neighborhood. It will also give you a chance to give back to your
community , you'll learn a lot from your experience, and you'll make a difference in someone's life.
I recommend a lot of people to go out and make a difference. For my community

Mandatory Community Service For Seniors
Mandatory Community Service for Seniors
When applying for a position at a job, managers always check to see how much experience you
have in order to check if you are qualified. When filling out a college application there are always
questions that ask to write down any extra curricular activities you participated in or any clubs
/service work you did and for how long. It is important to be a part of the community and to be
dedicated to one or two locations for a certain amount of time to show commitment and effort. A
student that has been a part of an organization for about three months and has not missed will be
prefered at a college than a student that goes five times a month. Community service does not only
help build relationships but allows students to spend their time learning new skills and it will benefit
them in the future. Community service for high school seniors should be mandatory because it will
teach the students how to be responsible, allow them to explore in depth something related to their
career and improve their communication skills.
Many high schools around the country have made community service hours mandatory in order for
the seniors to graduate. Not everyone agrees that this should be a requirement because seniors
already have enough on their plate. When seniors are about to graduate, it does not matter how
many tasks they have to complete as a requirement if they do not feel like doing it and they have no
motivation they will not complete

Argumentative Essay On Community Service
Some individuals do not realize how privileged they may be, while some individuals' live in a
bubble and thinks that everyone lives lavish or swell like they do. However, this is not the case. In
the United States of American there are approximately forty–five million people or in other words
there are about fourteen point fiver percent of people who live below the poverty line. That
number may seem not that drastic to you, because you may not come from a household that is
considered to be poor, but this level of inequality is not right. Coming form a middle class or upper
class home, having a roof over your head, clothing on your back, shoes on your feet and being able
to eat more than one full meal a day makes you privileged! Instead of keeping your privilege to
yourself, ways in which, you are able to give back to not only your community, but other
communities as well. Is through community service. Community service can be defined as
voluntary work intended to help people in a particular are. Community service is normally unpaid
work, intended to be of social use, or as a way of not sending an individual to jail or prison, or not
paying a ticket. Community service is done normally around a particular area in which you reside
in. In a way this can be beneficial to the community, because it is a way for individuals to clean up
their own neighborhoods, because who does not want their neighborhoods to look appealing.
Community service is not solely based around cleaning up your neighborhood. However, some
actions that can be considered as community service are the following: Build a house with Habitat
for Humanity, donating your clothes to goodwill, the church or red cross, donating eyeglasses to
organizations who are in need of eyeglasses, donating your blood in a blood drive, donating food,
volunteering at a soup kitchen, helping out at schools and non–profit organizations, send cards to
soldiers over seas, hold a bake sale to raise money for a charity, influencing people to not only
register to vote but to also get up and vote, help out in hospitals, tutor children, coach a youth sports
team, babysit children, help out in senior citizen nursing homes, foster an animal from a shelter,

My Passion For Service And Community
I was raised up believing in the importance of service and community as I saw my family members
and neighbors selflessly help and be in community with people in need. It is therefore no surprise
that I discovered my passion for service and volunteerism while still young. In my hometown
Nairobi, Kenya, I did community service through various ways, including my involvement in the
charity walk for Street Children and Orphans in Kenya in 2003 and the 2007 Brookside Freedom
from Hunger Campaign. I participated in the charity walk for these causes and helped raise
money to support street children, orphans, ending hunger, and was recognized as one of the top
three people to raise the most funds. In high school, I volunteered at the St. Nicholas Children's
home in Kenya, where I served, played, and was in solidarity with the children. In 2013, I earned
the President's Bronze Standard award given to me by Honorable Mwai Kibaki, the third president
of Kenya for being a young person equipped with positive life skills and a change maker in my
community, country, and globally. Understanding where I have come from and how blessed I have
been to have an opportunity to attend college is what drives me to excel academically. It is also what
makes me feel I must give back. While at Xavier, I continued my passion for service by gaining
leadership positions in various organizations, including the Students Government Association;
African Students' Association; Black Students' Association, and

Why I Need Community Service
Imagine struggling to afford the 'mandatory' three meals you're supposed to consume a day. It
would be hard and stressful right? I met over one hundred hungry people that have to feel this
emotion every day of their life, struggling to provide enough food to make a meal, fulfill their
hunger, and stay healthy. On October 17th my senior year ofhigh school I volunteered at a place
called "Broad Street Ministry" a Christian based community church. They have many community
service opportunities that you can get involved with. I helped with feeding the homeless or those
who cannot afford to eat. A teacher at my high school introduced me to this opportunity and I took
away a lot of memories I will cherish with this event.
On October 17th myself and five other students loaded a van with our health teacher and headed
off to Philadelphia. Personally, I volunteered with this event just for community service hours at
first but after I left the event I walked away with more than just some hours that I could write on
paper, I walked away with life lessons and a heavy heart. We got off the bus at our destination
around 9:00 AM to help set up the equipment we were using for the day. As we set everything up I
thought that we overdid it because we many tables pushed together forming a long line each table
full of food followed by coolers of soda and water. After we got done setting up we had a brief
meeting with a head leader of the Broad Street Ministry simply thanking us and giving us a run
down of the day. I didn't think the event would last too long and no way there would be that many
people coming to get food. I put on the mandatory clothing items we had to wear and got in my
place to help out. Noon is when everything started and people started forming a line with plates in
hand. More and more people got in the line and eventually we opened everything up to start
serving people. By the time we started serving there had to be at least 100 people in line, I have
only ever saw this happen on TV or in magazines, never personally. There was such a diverse
group of people that came to this event. I noticed the way each persons face lit up when they filled
their plate with what they were served, even if they did

Essay On Importance Of Community Service
Importance of Community Service
Community service is an important component of a business's social responsibility. Everyone
belongs to a community, and it is our moral obligation to help those who cannot take care of
themselves. Providing these citizens with food, medical assistance, clothing, and shelter helps keep
the community safe and healthy. In addition, people will be less likely to commit crimes in order to
gain basic necessities if they are offered help instead. By giving back to the communities they are
located in, businesses can improve their image and gain the respect of local citizens. Therefore,
community service can be a very profitable business venture. People can develop several important
business skills through community service, such as teamwork, leadership, communication, and
problem solving. Community service can also be an excellent way for individuals to network with
others and discover new business opportunities.

Not always being accepted has taught me empathy for those that are judged for being different. I
strive to live an authentic life, and I want to help those who feel marginalized and unwelcome. I
recognize that it is not always easy to be different. As a part of the Virginia Tech community, I
will value and embrace the diversity of my fellow Hokies. When I scheduled a tour at Virginia
Tech, I already knew it was where I wanted to go, but there was more to learn about the school
than I expected. While walking around the beautiful campus, the tour guide stopped at the War
Memorial Court and briefly explained the Corps of Cadets. This was something I was compelled
to learn more about. One of the most attractive and unique aspects of the program is the ability for
Cadets to be immersed in a military environment while still enjoying the full range of
opportunities a large public university provides. The Corps can offer me academic aid and
advice, life coaching, valuable lessons from superiors and guest speakers, and camaraderie among
peers. I would be honored to be a part of an organization that has trained so many service men and
women for our nation's defense. I will be proud to show my respect for our country and honor those
who have served through ceremonial events and military courtesies. The Cadet way of life will

Essay On Community Service

  • 1. Narrative Essay On Community Service Ana Portillo Professor Russel Whitaker English Composition I November 13th, 2017 Narrative Essay Many teens consider community service a chore to complete in order to graduate or something to include on a college application. Yes, I was one of those teens in my high school years, but because I didn't really know what community service was really about, and I hadn't experienced it until my history class. With this opportunity I was able to experience this wonderful community service taught me more than what I could ever give. When I was in high school I had this history subject in which community service was a requirement to pass the class, because of this we had to complete 18 hours of community service during the semester. To be honest,...show more content... I walked there with three girls named Alicia, Veronica and Karla. They showed me where their beds where and gave me a whole tour around the institution. I was impressed with all the beds they had, it was a huge wide room with many vertically arranged beds for each and every one of them. I started on cleaning and washing all the bed quilts, and all the girls were willing to help within everything, I didn't feel it was a job. They all seemed so cheerful and happy because somebody came to help them. Though, I was the one who got out learning things I hardly knew about. They all looked so mature to me, but I only could see a little girl from the outside. Then, I saw from across the room a very shy and quite little girl, she barely talked and interacted with the others. So, I went up to her, and asked her name. "My name is Sofia," she said with tears in her eyes, "What's wrong?", I asked. The other girls told me she had just arrived to the orphanage a few days ago. So, I grabbed her hand and went to the kitchen to give her a sandwich. She was amazed the whole sandwich was just for her, and she couldn't stop thanking me. This shocked me a lot because there are many children out there that don't have a place to stay or anything to eat, while we who have the privilege to have a place to call home, food always on the table, and most importantly a family, we take all that and everybody for granted. We should place more value on all those Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My Involvement On The Community Service Essay Activism Project To discuss my involvement in the various communities, I will start off by explaining how my involvement impacted me innumerable ways. Furthermore, the community service that I was involved in deals with the social problem of poverty and class inequality. This issue is something that a vast majority of Americans is always facing all the time. Correspondingly, this issue often correlates with constant discrimination that is happening towards the minorities especially African Americans and Hispanics. That is the reason why activist constantly tries to deal with this issue by conveying their message through various methods. The organization that I was involved in is the Atlanta Community Food Bank. This organization, along with other organization to distribute millions of foods across to metro Atlanta and north Georgia. The Atlanta Community Food Bank also delivers several foods and other critical information that contains various resources to help people who are low–income earners. For example, "the agencies that receive the stuff is constantly being provided by the Atlanta Community Food Bank is food pantries, community kitchen, childcare centers, and senior citizens" (Atlanta Community Food Bank). These are the agency that the Atlanta Community Food Bank most commonly provides. However, that is not the only thing that the Atlanta Community Food Bank does; this organization also tries to educate and engage with people who are in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. "Volunteers are not paid; not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless."– Sherry Anderson (Volunteering Quotes: Finest Quotes). On average, when people think about community service, they assume that volunteering is just 'hours we need to be able to graduate' and that is it. Community service is more than just hours; community service is based on the acts performed by someone with the purpose of helping or bringing benefits to his or her community. People frequently compare community service as a punishment since it is often offered to small–time offenders as an alternative to fines or jail time. However, community service is the vital force to many communities since they depend on the service made by the volunteers...show more content... Volunteering in your community helps solve many dilemmas in your community that descend through the eyes of government and social agencies (Everything you ever wanted to know about volunteering). Discussing about volunteering to teenagers should be the first step for a better life, since teenagers are the future of tomorrow and they will leave a mark from yesterday. Volunteering has been such an important matter, that schools in many countries around the world established that 12th grade students will need certain hours of community service in order to graduate. But the frequent answers all the schools are getting are "Why do I need to volunteer? I have better things to do!" What people are forgetting is that each one of them is part of a community, a community that is not perfect and that the government sometimes forgets about their problems or needs, because obviously the government needs to take care of other things that require more attention. People are not only helping others, they are also helping themselves (Volunteering). Volunteering is not a new subject now, but people did not perceive it before because as time goes by, volunteering is becoming more and more popular since each year more people volunteer. Volunteering began around the early 19th century since America was experimenting with the Great Awakening. The Great Awakening was a period in which the importance of the church was slowly dying and instead the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Goal or Thesis 2007, WA high schools to make community service compulsory The Western Australian Government is introducing a compulsory program which will force all high school students to complete community service work in order to graduate. The program will require students in years 10, 11 and 12 to do at least 20 hours of community service. Partnerships between schools and community service organisations will be central to the success of this program. • 6. Persuasive Essay About Community Service Community service is something that as a Junior we have to do till senior year. Community service is when you volunteer to help a non profit organization or a non profit event. This is an unpaid position. There are many benefits to having teenagers do community service. One benefit is that teenagers are learning to be more responsible. If they fully commit to the position that they have agreed to do that shows the responsibility of the individual. They could be doing sports or watching tv but they choose to help a specific organization which proves their responsibility. Something I have always loved doing was working with animals. Cats, dogs, snakes, fish, rabbits, it doesn't matter I love them all. To be able to work in an environment with animals you have to learn to love them all. I personally never enjoyed small dogs but they eventually grew on me because I knew they needed just as much love and attention as the big dogs do. For my community service I chose to volunteer at the MSPCA at Nevins Farm. I was definitely very excited to be able to work with the animals. I specifically work with the dogs. I have learned so much about them. The MSPCA is a very important organization and they do a lot of great thing. But they have also done some bad. They help the community by taking in animals that someone decided they didn't want, couldn't have, or found as a stray. There are many reasons people give up there animals. These animals are pretty well taken care of. We feed them, almost all dogs get a walk 2–4 times per day. To these animals this is a big deal. Many of these animals have never seen what it means to be loved. Its very sad but true. The first time I went to the MSPCA I was very annoyed. I had to sit thru a 4 hour orientation and then I had to follow someone around for another 3 hours TWO weeks later before I could do anything. At this point I was extremely annoyed because I have walked dogs from 5 Pound puppies to 180 pound Cane corso's. I noticed that a lot of the volunteers had no idea how to actually care for a dog when I first showed up. There was so much stupid going on and so disorganized. Because I was new we can only walk specific dogs. There are levels 1–4. Level 1 is dogs that don't pull, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The time I was there I felt so welcome by the staff and also it helped me to improve my communication skills since I was at the front desk receiving calls, interacting with the clients, making appointments to meet with the counselors and receiving the donations from different associations. I had a lot of good experiences at CHWC, one of the best experiences I had at CHWC was when a family finally get their house,I was the one who inform them that we had some goods news for them, as soon the family arrived the counselor speak to them and it was great seeing the face of those people, they were so happy about it. Another good experience was when a man came into the office with flowers and a cake for one of the counselors, he was so thankful because he was a first time homebuyer, and the counselor form CHWC helped him and oriented him, it was a great experience, I feel like CHWC gives a lot to the community. • 8. Persuasive Essay On Community Service Every Sunday, I have the opportunity to help as a child care worker in my church's nursery; and every week, after spending just one hour watching over the kids so that their parents can go to service and not have to worry about their children, I remember exactly why I spend my free time helping others. The term "Noblesse Oblige" is why I choose to be involved in multiple childcare opportunities and community service clubs. I believe it is my job to make sure those who are less fortunate, or in need of aid, get the help they require and deserve. I take part in different aspects of community service because it helps better my community and makes me a stronger leader. For the past three years at Liberty High School, I have been a member of the Key Club community service organization. As a member of this club, I am able to help with different jobs around the community that help the people in our town specifically. For example, every first Wednesday of the month I go and help with a project called Snack Pack. During this time, about fifteen other kids and I prepare three weeks worth of food for seventeen high schoolers in our school district. These are kids that do not have enough money at home to always have food on their table. Snack Pack plays an important role in their lives because without it, they would not always eat. These kids deserve the chance to live their life and go to school without having to worry about whether or not the will eat dinner that night. That is why I value my role in this club so much, because I know what we do makes a difference. When the kids collect their food, they are able to relax a little more knowing that their family will be able to eat. Another aspect of Key Club that I take part in is Fairy Tale Forest, held at Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary. Every year, the weekend before Halloween, I volunteer, with a handful of others from the club, to go and work at the children's fairy tale nature walk. The past two years I have been a runner. This means I do the odd little jobs, like run food and drinks around to the different characters that are working in the trail, that would otherwise be forgotten or not done at all. Although this is a small role, it is what helps make Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Community Service Scholarship Essay As a student, I have demonstrated many works of service to my community and school. Service opportunities have shaped me into the person I am today and these projects have made me realize how fortunate I am for all that I have. While I've been doing these service projects through the years, it has been a pleasure seeing the joy on the faces of people that aren't as fortunate as I am. Service projects that I have completed include managing the fish booth at the St. Leo's Parish Festival, being an altar server at St. Leo's Parish, helping cook dinner for the Ridgway Fire Department during carnival day setup, participating in the St. Marys Light Up Night by dancing, and Christmas caroling to local residents. • 10. Persuasive Essay About Community Service As an 18–year–old tennager, I was forced by my parents to participate a summer volunteer program in my freshman year. Even though I felt that I was a victim of "tyranny" in the beginning, I realized that I actually enjoyed the process of helping people in the middle of the program. Now, I participate that program every year as an active member, and I have gained the personal enrichment that I am unable to learn from other sources such as math club or SAT preparatory class. There is no doubt that community service can bring essential benefits in helping students develop their moral value and future interest, and it should be mandatory because some students attempt to utilize community service as a tool for their own profit without the school supervision. Volunteerism enables students to gain the moral lesson that is vital to their life and develop their future interest. According to source 2, "community service teaches us through experience – about the relationship between empathy and responsibility, about what it takes to be part of a community, in essence, about human being". While students are helping their community, they learn the crucial moral lessons in the most direct and impressive way. Through an actual experience ofvolunteering, students are reminded that it is their responsibility to serve for their community because they are a part of it. Helping without any feedback allows them to realize the power of empathy, the essential value that makes the society a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Essay Community Service Project Reflection The thought of community service was a bore to me before I began my volunteer work. I dreaded starting my community service although I knew I had to do it. Where I earned my hours did not even matter to me. I just wanted to get it over with. To my surprise it was not what I expected. Community service was not a painful experience; it was a very enjoyable and beneficial experience. I performed my community service with Habitat for Humanity. The non‐profit organization chooses the applicant that purchases the house and Habitat only charges them the cost of the materials. Almost every worker is a volunteer so Habitat for Humanity does not have to pay a high amount of wages. I felt good about myself being one of those volunteers. The future...show more content... We shared many laughs and stories while we worked. It was satisfying to help improve these people's lives. I took pleasure in how much I learned at Habitat for Humanity. We were doing construction so many tools were involved. On my first day I was unaware of the names of most tools. Learning the names and functions of each tool was exciting. Being a male, I felt more confident knowing these things. Construction involves math and clever thinking as well. On my first day I just watched as the processes took place. Eventually, I was helping make the decisions. I even helped a volunteer build a fence and make precise measurements. The education about construction will benefit me for the rest of my life. The amount of respect I earned was an incomparable benefit that I received from community service. Oil companies volunteered their employees on Saturdays and I spoke with all of them. They recognized my enrollment and scholarship achievements. Some of them see me and recognize me around town and they ask about how my goals are going. I met people who made a huge positive impact on my life. Employees without a college education worked full time at Habitat for Humanity, and I realized what I do not want to do with my life. During lunch breaks I spoke with the supervisor, Alynda Best, and she explained to me the significance of hard work in college. Most importantly, I met the lady who made this opportunity possible for me and she Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. What Does Community Service Mean To Me Essay What does community service means to me? Well, to me community service mean helping your community become a better place. When you do things for your neighborhood, it makes you feel like a better person. There are all sorts of activities you can do in your community. You can work with children at school, work with the elderly, or help people that are less fortunate and make their day very special. Community Service is very important because it gives you a chance to bond with the people in your neighborhood. It will also give you a chance to give back to your community , you'll learn a lot from your experience, and you'll make a difference in someone's life. • 13. Mandatory Community Service For Seniors Mandatory Community Service for Seniors When applying for a position at a job, managers always check to see how much experience you have in order to check if you are qualified. When filling out a college application there are always questions that ask to write down any extra curricular activities you participated in or any clubs /service work you did and for how long. It is important to be a part of the community and to be dedicated to one or two locations for a certain amount of time to show commitment and effort. A student that has been a part of an organization for about three months and has not missed will be prefered at a college than a student that goes five times a month. Community service does not only help build relationships but allows students to spend their time learning new skills and it will benefit them in the future. Community service for high school seniors should be mandatory because it will teach the students how to be responsible, allow them to explore in depth something related to their career and improve their communication skills. Many high schools around the country have made community service hours mandatory in order for the seniors to graduate. Not everyone agrees that this should be a requirement because seniors already have enough on their plate. When seniors are about to graduate, it does not matter how many tasks they have to complete as a requirement if they do not feel like doing it and they have no motivation they will not complete Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Argumentative Essay On Community Service Some individuals do not realize how privileged they may be, while some individuals' live in a bubble and thinks that everyone lives lavish or swell like they do. However, this is not the case. In the United States of American there are approximately forty–five million people or in other words there are about fourteen point fiver percent of people who live below the poverty line. That number may seem not that drastic to you, because you may not come from a household that is considered to be poor, but this level of inequality is not right. Coming form a middle class or upper class home, having a roof over your head, clothing on your back, shoes on your feet and being able to eat more than one full meal a day makes you privileged! Instead of keeping your privilege to yourself, ways in which, you are able to give back to not only your community, but other communities as well. Is through community service. Community service can be defined as voluntary work intended to help people in a particular are. Community service is normally unpaid work, intended to be of social use, or as a way of not sending an individual to jail or prison, or not paying a ticket. Community service is done normally around a particular area in which you reside in. In a way this can be beneficial to the community, because it is a way for individuals to clean up their own neighborhoods, because who does not want their neighborhoods to look appealing. Community service is not solely based around cleaning up your neighborhood. However, some actions that can be considered as community service are the following: Build a house with Habitat for Humanity, donating your clothes to goodwill, the church or red cross, donating eyeglasses to organizations who are in need of eyeglasses, donating your blood in a blood drive, donating food, volunteering at a soup kitchen, helping out at schools and non–profit organizations, send cards to soldiers over seas, hold a bake sale to raise money for a charity, influencing people to not only register to vote but to also get up and vote, help out in hospitals, tutor children, coach a youth sports team, babysit children, help out in senior citizen nursing homes, foster an animal from a shelter, volunteer at police Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. My Passion For Service And Community I was raised up believing in the importance of service and community as I saw my family members and neighbors selflessly help and be in community with people in need. It is therefore no surprise that I discovered my passion for service and volunteerism while still young. In my hometown Nairobi, Kenya, I did community service through various ways, including my involvement in the charity walk for Street Children and Orphans in Kenya in 2003 and the 2007 Brookside Freedom from Hunger Campaign. I participated in the charity walk for these causes and helped raise money to support street children, orphans, ending hunger, and was recognized as one of the top three people to raise the most funds. In high school, I volunteered at the St. Nicholas Children's home in Kenya, where I served, played, and was in solidarity with the children. In 2013, I earned the President's Bronze Standard award given to me by Honorable Mwai Kibaki, the third president of Kenya for being a young person equipped with positive life skills and a change maker in my community, country, and globally. Understanding where I have come from and how blessed I have been to have an opportunity to attend college is what drives me to excel academically. It is also what makes me feel I must give back. While at Xavier, I continued my passion for service by gaining leadership positions in various organizations, including the Students Government Association; African Students' Association; Black Students' Association, and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

In fact, I was recently elected to as VP of Public Relations of the Student MOVE group. We are a group of 12 individuals that are the advisory committee for all of the community service organizations on campus, but we organize many alternative activities and events. I even did a service learning project for my Spanish class last semester with Cynthia Wells. I attended the Spanish mass every Sunday, and I was a greeter. I learned their culture and rituals while still attending the usual Catholic Mass. Upon learning that I had to do a service learning project for Ethics class, I immediately began brainstorming ideas. Libby is currently working for Ameri–Corp at a non–profit organization called Brent's Place. This was the place for children with cancer to stay while going through their treatments. Libby was a great role model for our group and really inspired a few individuals such as Sara Upah. I can recall Sara saying that she really wants to work for a non–profit organization. It is designed for girls of low–income families which cannot afford daycare service or do not want their children being home alone after school. • 17. Why I Need Community Service Imagine struggling to afford the 'mandatory' three meals you're supposed to consume a day. It would be hard and stressful right? I met over one hundred hungry people that have to feel this emotion every day of their life, struggling to provide enough food to make a meal, fulfill their hunger, and stay healthy. On October 17th my senior year ofhigh school I volunteered at a place called "Broad Street Ministry" a Christian based community church. They have many community service opportunities that you can get involved with. I helped with feeding the homeless or those who cannot afford to eat. A teacher at my high school introduced me to this opportunity and I took away a lot of memories I will cherish with this event. On October 17th myself and five other students loaded a van with our health teacher and headed off to Philadelphia. Personally, I volunteered with this event just for community service hours at first but after I left the event I walked away with more than just some hours that I could write on paper, I walked away with life lessons and a heavy heart. We got off the bus at our destination around 9:00 AM to help set up the equipment we were using for the day. As we set everything up I thought that we overdid it because we many tables pushed together forming a long line each table full of food followed by coolers of soda and water. After we got done setting up we had a brief meeting with a head leader of the Broad Street Ministry simply thanking us and giving us a run down of the day. I didn't think the event would last too long and no way there would be that many people coming to get food. I put on the mandatory clothing items we had to wear and got in my place to help out. Noon is when everything started and people started forming a line with plates in hand. More and more people got in the line and eventually we opened everything up to start serving people. By the time we started serving there had to be at least 100 people in line, I have only ever saw this happen on TV or in magazines, never personally. There was such a diverse group of people that came to this event. I noticed the way each persons face lit up when they filled their plate with what they were served, even if they did Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Essay On Importance Of Community Service Importance of Community Service Community service is an important component of a business's social responsibility. Everyone belongs to a community, and it is our moral obligation to help those who cannot take care of themselves. Providing these citizens with food, medical assistance, clothing, and shelter helps keep the community safe and healthy. In addition, people will be less likely to commit crimes in order to gain basic necessities if they are offered help instead. By giving back to the communities they are located in, businesses can improve their image and gain the respect of local citizens. Therefore, community service can be a very profitable business venture. People can develop several important business skills through community service, such as teamwork, leadership, communication, and problem solving. Community service can also be an excellent way for individuals to network with others and discover new business opportunities. • 19. Persuasive Essay On Community Service I have been volunteering before I was old enough to know I was volunteering. As the youngest of four, I happily came along whenever my parents and siblings volunteered. But, community service is not just something I was taught to do; it is something I love to do. Today, I serve others in ways that are closer to my own heart. Serving people and animals "who don't have a voice" has been and always will be central to who I am. I spent this summer raising awareness and funds for foster children, and I am excited to use those funds this November to personally decorate and deliver new duffel bags with supplies to foster children in my area. Additionally, I have loved dedicating my time to a local animal rescue where I have participated in animal...show more content... Not always being accepted has taught me empathy for those that are judged for being different. I strive to live an authentic life, and I want to help those who feel marginalized and unwelcome. I recognize that it is not always easy to be different. As a part of the Virginia Tech community, I will value and embrace the diversity of my fellow Hokies. When I scheduled a tour at Virginia Tech, I already knew it was where I wanted to go, but there was more to learn about the school than I expected. While walking around the beautiful campus, the tour guide stopped at the War Memorial Court and briefly explained the Corps of Cadets. This was something I was compelled to learn more about. One of the most attractive and unique aspects of the program is the ability for Cadets to be immersed in a military environment while still enjoying the full range of opportunities a large public university provides. The Corps can offer me academic aid and advice, life coaching, valuable lessons from superiors and guest speakers, and camaraderie among peers. I would be honored to be a part of an organization that has trained so many service men and women for our nation's defense. I will be proud to show my respect for our country and honor those who have served through ceremonial events and military courtesies. The Cadet way of life will allow me to strengthen my skills in leadership, discipline, and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. For my community service project I did a large variety of projects. I completed a total amount of seventy–one hours, which includes: eleven hours of in school hours, and sixty hours of out of school service. The groups I worked with include: The Immaculate Conception School, The Merimack Heights Academy, and the Mad Science program. Overall I had a great time and a wonderful experience serving the community. For the Immaculate Conception School I did many events. First for the I.C.S I helped to set up with two of the Junior High Socials and ran one of the games at the Halloween party. Through working with our school I learned valuable skills of teamwork and leadership by working with others and being a role model. I learned how to...show more content... I will never forget this experience and I hope that I am invited back next year to help coach my players. The next community service project I did was to help renovate The Merrimack Heights Academy. We worked for about four hours at the school painting rooms, fences, and other buildings. Although we didn't finish the project I feel a sense of satisfaction that I helped to create a school for special needs children. I also feel that It was a lot of fun to work with all of my classmates outside of school and to see everybody working so hard. The last thing I am going to talk about is my time as a mad scientist assistant job for the journey program. I did this awesome job for about five hours over a period of five weeks. This was really one of the most fun things to do because I have a deep love for science and passing that love on to younger bright eyed students is wonderful. I got quite the experience. After doing this project I can see why teachers get frustrated with us students and all the talking. I realized that the less talking we do the more we get accomplished and the more fun we end up having. I would defiantly do this service again and I recommend it to all science loving students. When I first began this project I was daunted by the amount of hours I would have to complete, but accepted the challenge with much Get more content on HelpWriting.net
