Argumentative Essay: It's Time To Stop Poaching
Imagine going to the zoo and not see your beloved picture book animals. When people think of
problems in the environment they think of global warming and pollution. Well, Poaching is also
one of those problems. As years go on poaching has only gotten worse and as a result, animales have
been paying the price. As many nations have gotten on board to try to stop the illegal trafficking
animals, poachers have not yet stopped. Therefore penalties for poaching should be severe.Poaching
is the cause of many species extinction, drug dealing, and weapon smuggling.
Poaching is one of the causes for the extinction of many animals, such as rhinos, tigers, elephants and
much more. According to The World Book Web Encyclopedia animals which are being hunted

By depending on the black market to help sell animal parts, it gives out an idea that this is illegal.
In fact, The World Book Web claims that Poachers use animal remains in the trading for weapons
and narcotics. Furthermore, this shows how poachers don't just sell but buy illegally. Doubtless,
poachers are not alone on this there are people helping, which if we want to get rid of it, it will take
time.
Our society thinks it's a bad thing, but people who do it are doing it for a reason. They will say
they are doing it for profit and/or for food. People have the right to think that it is causing animals
go extinct, but there will always be a counter claim from another person arguing that it's not true.
For every argument, there is a counter claim and in this case, the topic is poaching.Poaching is very
severe and harmful to the environment while others might say that poaching is great because it sells
for a lot of profit. What they don't realize is how much damage they are actually

Feminism Argumentative Essay
Many people like to think that feminism is irrelevant, for society has gotten so far. It's true that there
has been a progression within the past century, but there are still issues that need resolving. One can't
say that misogyny does not exist, neither can they deny that violence against women is a problem.
Throughout history, all over the world, women have struggled under the patriarchy. Similarly to
certain people who believe feminism isn't important, meninists are altogether opposed to feminism.
Meninism was originally a term used to describe a male feminist, almost like the White Panthers,
who supported the Black Panthers. Then a Twitter user, Ti Belogun, made a tweet, stating that it's a
term for a movement against feminists. He later apologized, but it was too late, for it had already
become a movement. It had gotten to the point that...show more content...
One of their arguments is that there are classes for women's studies, but nothing about men's studies.
They are oblivious to the fact that the reason there are women's studies classes is because history
classes in general focus mainly on the history of men. Another argument is that, when divorced
couples are fighting for custody, the mother gains custody more often than the man. For this, they
blame feminism. The only reason this happens is because the judge may have the misogynistic idea
that women are better with children. This idea is misogynistic because, throughout history,
motherhood was seen as the only thing that women were worth, that they were unable to do anything
outside of serving her husband and/or children. What many people don't understand is that feminism
can benefit both men and women (Mekinski, Maddy paras 1–6). For example, feminism helps fight
hyper–masculinity. Hyper–masculinity is a term used to describe a feeling that some men often get
where they feel that they have to do something to avoid looking cowardly or feminine. They have a
fear of femininity because it's a trait used to

Argumentative Essay On Global Warming
Global warming, we see it as sad polar bears hopelessly swimming for their lives in the ocean. It's
shown as rising sea levels that can washout entire cities. It even sometimes gets turned into politics
but scientifically, what is the definition of global warming? It is the heating up the of Earth, caused
by infrared radiation that gets stuck in our atmosphere because of the increase of CO2 put into the
atmosphere. Infrared radiation is electromagnetic radiation that cannot be seen by the human eye,
but we feel it as heat. Seems pretty logical doesn't it? To some it doesn't seem as reasonable. Some
believe global warming isn't a man made problem, but just a cycle of 'weather patterns'. For
example, our now president –Donald J. Trump– doesn't consider climate change to a threat to the
inhabitants of earth. Our president also said that global warming is a 'hoax'.
"Snowing in Texas and Louisiana, record setting freezing temperatures throughout the country and
beyond.
Global warming is an expensive hoax!"
–Donald J. Trump
This is what many people believe, and this tweet too seems pretty logical to a majority of people.
But in 2014 January 29th when Donald J. Trump posted this tweet, there was record setting freezing
temperatures happening nation and worldwide. But also 2014 was one of the top three hottest years
on record. Now that doesn't seem like a 'hoax'.
Humans don't like being wrong. It's embarrassing, uncomfortable to believe something and then be
confronted about it. So that's why there's still high percentage of people who don't believe in the
change in climate. People who work with oil companies don't want to acknowledge it because it
can ruin their business. Politicians ignore the problem because it costs money to fix our past
mistakes. That fear, people being scared, it makes us shut down. But we can try ignoring the
problem, but the thing about problems is, they can be ignored but they never truly disappear.
Weather may feel the same as every other year, but The whole world is heating up, including our
vast oceans.
Tropical hurricanes need to have surface water temperatures to be 26В°C or more for them to form.
As our oceans get hotter hurricanes are able to form farther out in the sea

Argumentative Essay On Air Pollution
"Air pollution is terrible for our children. Every single scientist, every single doctor will tell you the
same thing: Air pollution damages our children's brains, their hearts, and their lungs," verbalized by
Julianne Moore. As Moore stated, pollution is terrible for our youth and can be verified by
scientists and doctors. There's nothing quite like opening the door and breathing fresh, clean air but
how clean is the air you're breathing right now? Air pollution is not only detrimental to humans but
all life on earth is harmed by it. It's the presence of the air of a substance which has inimical and
poisonous effects contributing to climate change.
Pollution has an astronomically immense impact on our environment, in human health, and is an
inimical catastrophe in the earth today. Smoking, global warming, overpopulation, and pollution
emitting from vehicles including cars, airplanes, and trains are all additionally the causes of
pollution in California cities, especially Merced. One issue of air pollution are the things humans use
in their everyday life; vehicles. Vehicles emit carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, which
contribute one–fifth of the United States' total global warming pollution. In 2016, cars, trucks, and
diesel are responsible for about 80 percent of the Valley's pollution (Heinks 1). High–levels of
environmental pollution is detrimental to human and animal health. Because of vehicles, lung
disease can occur or worsened by it. "Particle pollutants are found more excessively in the winter
because of woodsmoke, diesel from trucks and agricultural systems." (Velez 1) Since we have an
extensive of agricultural systems, it's a huge contributor pollution in our Valley. Speaking of
agricultural systems, Merced is surrounded by farming and agriculture; and air quality is a top
priority for the Central Valley. The huge growth in industrial agriculture is using fertilizers,
pesticides, and many other chemical products to increase crop yields and feed the world's
ever–growing population. On the other hand, pesticides not only apply to farming but inside the
household too. According to Environmental Protection Agency, seventy–five percent of the United
States households used at least one pesticide

Argumentative Reflection
Argumentative Essay Reflection One of my central struggles throughout high school has been
writing essays and reports for all classes not just english. I was a little worried when I signed up to
take this course, since it counted as a college credit. Even though I was worried about taking this
course, but I am thankful that I did. The main reason behind my decision to take this course is
because I thought it would better prepare me for college. This argumentative essay was one of the
hardest essay that I have written. I have never written in this style before this essay. Even though, I
have never been the best writer, I have always got good grades. After receiving my first rough draft I
knew this class was not going to be easy. The part...show more content...
One of the areas of my writing where I was struggling in using my voice. Granite, there were parts
of my essay where I successfully integrated quotes within my voice, but for the most part that was
my weakest area. For example of one of my better integrated quotes, in my third paragraph when I
say, "Today, consumers rely on social media for everything, whether it is communicating with old
friends, finding new friends, shopping, researching, and staying informed with the latest news.
Daniel adds that, "'Americans who take part in political activities on social networking sites also
tend to be highly active in other areas of political or civic life'" (29), which insinuates that people
rely on social media more today than we have in the past". This was one of my better examples
because I further explain and analyze the quote in my voice instead of just ending the sentence
after the quote. One of my poor examples is, "Many people who suffer from depression care a lot
about what others think about them. That is why many of those people tend to turn to social
media as an outlet to express their feelings". I made a bold statement and did not back up what I
said with my voice I just ended that sentence and moved on. Instead of moving on I should have
explained it further and told them why people tend to turn to social media to express their feelings.
One of the areas of my writing where I was

Argumentative Essay On Artifice
Many people say that political leaders must be held to higher standards and speak nothing but the
truth. However, that which Hedges' said, that "the most essential skill... is artifice," is very true.
The best politicians out there, are often not the ones that have the best ideas, but rather the ones
that can trick and then steal the hearts of their audiences. The people of the world will often
support and vote for the candidate with the story that impacts them the most. The stories the
candidates say may often not be true, this is what Hedges' meant when he said that "the most
essential skill.... Is artifice." To use a recent example, Donald Trump gained loads of support by
proclaiming he was not the "typical politician." He constantly reminded the people that he was
raised in America and a "man of the people." He also repeated his famous slogan of...show more

There is no need for the College Board, yet they make it seems like there is. The College Board
has been tricking thousands of students each year that the only way they can get into college, is
by taking multiple standardized tests they created. In reality, the College Board just wants your
money and the tests are not good indicators for one's intelligence. The test is stupid and if colleges
only looked at your GPA and grades, then many qualified and learned students who are not good
at standardized tests or messed up on one, will be accepted to the college of their choice.
However, the College Board has already tricked most of America and now they have trapped us
because we need them so that we can get into college. The College Board has successfully sucked
me and most likely you as well, into a hole we cannot get out of. They have taken our money and
will only take more. The College Board, because of successful artifice, is currently an unfortunate
necessary evil that is controlling our

Players gained a lot of muscles quickly (also unhealthy, but no one knew) and raced to hit more
home runs than their opponents. This has created a huge discussion throughout MLB on how to
crack down on these players and how to prevent it from happening in the future. Even though he's
the all time leader in home runs, points, and hit percentage, Barry Bonds' name will forever be
marked as the "bad guy" because of he used steroids. In the July of 2013, Ryan Braun, an
outfielder, was under a 65 game suspension for taking steroids. Shortly after, 12 MLB players
were given a 50 game suspension. Alex Rodriguez is under huge a 200 game suspension (which he
is currently on) from taking steroids and then giving them out to his team. (Baseball). Steroids are
used in sports, for the most part, to amplify the performance of athletes. In most cases, the steroids
used among athletes are anabolic types. Anabolic actually means "build or increase mass". These
steroids have been in use by high school, college, and professional athletes all around the globe for
centuries. There are a huge amount of different types of steroids; in–fact, there are many of diferent
types found in nature. The ones found in nature are not as effective as the ones that are man made.
The anabolic steroids are probably the most common type of steroid used among athletes. Within this
classification, again we have a lot of different types of steroids; countless forms, alternate forms and
derivatives, and there are so many it can, at times, seem very

Argumentative Essay On Gun Violence
Argumentative Essay One gun, one church, and one miserable Wednesday night. On June 17th,
2015 Dylann Roof set out for a mass killing spree killing nine victims, including a pastor. Certain
rights could uphold gun laws and make it so such things do no happen; unfortunately these tragic
things do still occur. However, people who do follow the law and do follow laws help in some of
these tragic occurrences. Although these things happen it is our God given right as United States
citizens to bear arms. Through the second amendment and other gun laws, we could live in peace
and still have our rights to bear arms. The massacre that killed nine victims happened during an
evening prayer at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church (Connor, 4). People ranged
from 26 to 81, and a pastor of 23 years were all victims of this massacre. Dylann illegally purchased

Argumentative Essay On Addiction
Addiction Rough Draft Did you know that it is statistically proven that addiction is more common
than diabetes? 10% of the human population is addicted to either a drug or alcohol. A person can
be addicted to several substances, not just drugs and alcohol. By having more options of addiction,
this will increase the percentage of addicts. There is so many scenarios to addiction that anyone
around could be an addict without realizing it. Several people may believe addiction is something
that can easily fixed or they may think it is rare. What people do not know is that addiction is a
situation much more serious and goes in depth further than they may expect. It's a desire that no
one wants. It is a condition that is difficult to escape once you begin. Addicts can be so in depth
with addiction that they can not get out of it. Addiction is an action that comes with negative yet
impactful outcomes. Addiction can affect those who are around especially family members. Fit
will affect other by the actions you do. Aggression can develop and people will begin to isolate.
No one likes to be around an aggressive person. An addict can also have mood swings. Drugs or
alcohol, for example, already affect your mentally when not sober. Family members can feel like
they are the ones to be blamed. Family supports and loves one another. By seeing a family member
fall into bad habits, it would be logical that they would feel like they have failed as family. Not only

Argumentative Essay On Standardized Testing
Standardizes test is the way of measuring a student's intelligence in most of the school nowadays.
Standardized test are created in a specific way, student are expected to answer a set of question,
usually multiple–choice or false or true questions, in a given certain amount of time. These test are
usually used to compare the performance and intelligence of a student a relative situation. However,
these tests do not truly expose what a student actually understands and learns, but instead only
provide an idea of how a student can do on a generic test. Standardized testing, as they are being
used in the modern society, are an erroneous way to test the skills of today's student.
Usually, people think that these types of tests are a good way of comparing students across the
whole country. However, what people ignore is the fact that these types of test are an inaccurate way
of measuring the performance of a student. According to an article published by Education Week,
non–instructional factors explain most of the variance among test scores when schools or districts
are compared. According to the article a study in 1992 showed that the combination of variables
such as number of parents living at home, parents' educational background, type of community, and
poverty rate accounted for 89 percent of the differences in state scores. Also, this type of testing is
an improper and imprecise form of judging a person's
intellect due to the fact that in order to pass a test, rote

Argumentative Essay On Space Exploration
Throughout history, humans have been fascinated by the unknown, which includes outer space.
We believe it is not necessary to spend valuable taxpayer dollars to fund a doubtful cause. The
government must reconsider the sources spent on space exploration. Spending tax payers' money
to explore space is a waste of time, resources, and does not benefit anyone. The country should
unite as one to forbid explorers from draining precious time trying to discover life in outer space.
Though life may exist in space, that does not mean "aliens will come and attack." More advanced
technology should not exist outside of earth, which would make it impossible for creatures to come

survive and live your life. "The amount of money that is spent on NASA's coffers is $17 billion and

poverty in United States. Poverty is a huge problem, although it may not concern everyone, there is
a point in life where you will experience poverty. The government should be capable of banning the

What Makes An Effective Argument Ineffective?
1.The basic parts of an effective argument are a stated clearly defined issue, makes a claim, and
offers support for that claim. Sometimes an argument may also recognize opposing viewpoints and
incorporate them into the argument
2.What makes an argument ineffective is when using emotional appeals to distract a reader from a
lack of evidence. Also the use of faulty reasoning, and inaccurate facts.
3.An issue is a problem, controversy, or an idea that people can have different viewpoints about.
The term claim is a point in which a writer is trying to prove. This is typically the writer's viewpoint
on the issue. A refutation is recognizing and auguring against opposing viewpoints.

Othello : An Argumentative Essay
Othello: An Argumentative Essay
Inside each of us, there is a seed of good and evil since it is a constant struggle for us to determine
as to which one will win, so that is why one cannot exist without the other. However, there are some
whose emotions are unbalanced, which causes them to near towards one side more than the other
one Đ’Đ’ and many times the side a lot of people prefer to lean on is evil. Shakespeare's play O thello
is set in 16thĐ’century Venice and Cyprus.Othello, a noble black general from the Venetian army has
secretly married Desdemona, daughter of Venice senator Brabantio. Othello chooses inexperienced
Cassio to be his lieutenant, while he decides to give the ensign position to Iago, a malicious but very
experienced man who, with his stealth and knavery, will ultimately ruin almost everyone's life
since for a long time, he was desiring the position of lieutenant just like Cassio. At the end of the
play, Othello, Desdemona, Iago's wife Emilia, and his sidekick Roderigo die due to his revenge
against Cassio, for obtaining the position he wanted and Othello, for being the man who he hates
the most. The play ends with Iago being told that he will be punished and tortured for his actions.
However, despite the fact that Iago is punished at the end of the play for doing all of the malicious
things he did, he still manages to wear down Othello's relationship with Desdemona, get Cassio

Essay about Arguing Against Standardized Testing
To many students standardized testing has become another part of schooling that is dreaded.
Standardized testing has been a part of school since the nineteen–thirties; in those days it was used as
a way to measure students that had special needs. Since the time that standardized test have been in
American schools there has been many programs that have placed an importance on the idea of
standardized testing such as the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (Evans 1). Over the years the
importance of standardized testing has increased tremendously and so has the stakes, not only for
teachers but also students. All states in the United States of America have state test in order to

Most standardized test do not measure emotional or mechanical intelligence, actually a lot of
educators argue that standardized test do not measure comprehension or actual intelligence but
rather memorization. While others may believe that standardized testing just needs a few
improvements, others believe that it is impossible to have a test that measures accurately the
capability of a diverse student population. Today's schooling depends heavily on the test scores from
standardized test. Standardized testing should not have so much weight put on them because they
have a negative impact on effective education, students' self–concept, and learning styles.
Although standardized testing has been a major part of schooling it has also had a negative impact
on effective education. Standardized has made a huge impact on public schooling so much that not
only does it affect the students but also the teachers. With the teachers now beginning to get raises or
having their jobs on the line if their students fail the test, many students have not been getting the
fullest education process that they could get. Students may not realize the impact that it has had on
the type of teaching style that they receive because they are so used to it. With so many teachers not
having a lot of time to teach what is on the test and the other things that they feel are important to
students to know, a lot of

Argumentative Essay About Anime
Do you watch cartoons? I do. Not bugs bunny; I'm talking about anime. Do you know what that is?
Anime is, simply put, animation that's made in Japan. I'll give you some examples of anime that
you might know. Speed Racer, Hello Kitty, Pokemon, RoboTech, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, and
a lot of the cartoons you find on Cartoon Network qualify as well, particularly Adult Swim.
Thankfully our country has gotten the rights to translate the stories from Japanese to English,
because the storylines in anime are really good. Often they're better than what Hollywood shovels
into your brain.
That's basically what anime is. Now let's talk about what it's not.
Anime is not a genre; it's an art form; a medium. From now on I want you to think of anime as
being equated with movies, books, music, etc; all the entertainment media. Just like you have movies
for kids, movies for teens, adults, so it is with anime.
All your entertainment comes in 31 flavors, right? Comedy, horror, drama, suspense, action, etc.
You file similar movies on the same shelf in the store, don't you? But you shouldn't be putting all
anime on the same shelf because anime is not a genre. It's a medium, like movies are a medium,
like books are a medium. A medium can have any genre of entertainment in it; well so can anime.
Anime is not all sex and violence as some people will tell you. When I hear someone say that anime
is sex and violence, that immediately tells me that they watched probably one particular anime show

Argumentative Essay On Racism
Growing up in a small town that consists of almost 90 percent of the same race, you don't take

Argumentative Essay On Low Self Esteem
My friends were gaudy, flamboyant and vivacious as ever when I was a young girl, contrary to
me and my painfully shy personality. I was content with this, but my mother always wanted me
to fit in and to gain more confidence. Though I knew I would eventually evolve, it never felt right
for me to try to be someone i was not. I wanted to change or evolve on my own terms rather than
from pressure from my friends or my mother. I knew then, just as I know now, that changing myself
was not going to be fun or easy and that faking interest in things I was not interested in would prove
fruitless. If this took so much effort and even some pain, then there was no point in trying. As I saw
it then, the end goal would land me further away than I had started.
Teenage girls who feel constant pressure from peers and even adults to be perfect have very low
self esteems. Three–fourths of girls with low self–esteem admitted to disordered eating, bullying,
smoking or drinking (Low Self–Esteem). If these girls did not feel this pressure to be "perfect" or
to be ideal, then their self esteems might not be so low and self harm rates would quickly sink.
One way to eliminate pressure would be to allow them to express themselves, or not to express
themselves. Another way to eliminate societal pressure would be to allow them to be their authentic
selves instead of pushing them to be different or to fit in. According to Peter Burke, a renowned
psychologist and professor of sociology and Co–Director

Argumentative Essay On Bullying
Bullying
Bullying happens everywhere, whether it is at work, school, or home, This is Where It Ends,
evidence in the schools, and adult psychiatric health problems later on in life, are some supporting
evidence to show that this is an ongoing problem. According to stopbullying.gov bullying is
described as "An Imbalance of Power: Kids who bully use their power–such as physical strength,
access to embarrassing information, or popularity–to control or harm others. Power imbalances can
change over time and in different situations, even if they involve the same people." Bullying helps
someone have dominance over another, it can boost their confidence, and self–esteem. Although
bullying has been around for as long as anyone can remember, it is just recently in the 2000s that is
has received serious attention and research (Hymel). There have been many recent events that have
focused on this subject.
"13 Reasons Why", this is a very popular title that most teens, adults, and parents may know. This
year, Netflix came out with the original series to show what bullying can do. In the year of 2011 a
15 year–old girl named Amanda Todd, posted her story on Youtube (Dean). Amanda was seriously
bullied for something that she had done in her middle school past, and was now in high school.
One day after school, Amanda was found lying in a ditch by her father, right before she had been
beaten up by a group of girl from her school. After, Amanda went home and drank bleach, it did
not kill her, a few months later, she tried to overdose on pill, that also did not kill her. After, she
posted her story on YouTube, people were saying "you should try killing yourself again", or "you
deserve to die", "try drinking a different bleach next time". A month later she attempted suicide.
Not only was Amanda the victim of physical and social bullying, but she was also the victim of
cyberbullying (Dean). Cyberbullying is social network bullying, it can happen over Instagram,
Facebook, Snapchat etc. This is now becoming more, and more popular as the world enters into a
more technology based times. Although cyberbullying is now very popular, physical and social

within the field in which students are studying. In other words, at the center of an argumentative
essay is a statement with which readers may disagree. The argumentative essay will need to support
that statement in a manner that convinces the readers of its truth. It mainly strives to convince the
reader of the writer's point of view, using reasonable and ethical methods .The process of argument
composition varies from writer to writer, most writers follow these three stages: forming an
argument, which can consist of discovering a motive for writing and identifying an audience to
address, discovering and sharpening a position, and developing an appropriate style; supporting the
argument; and reviewing the argument, which can include considering the image projected by
argument, making substantial additions or deletions to a first draft, and adding an introduction and
conclusion (Cheng and Chen 2009, Day,1997, Liu,2005,Mayberry,2009)....show more content...
The first feature is superstructure which refers to the organizational plan of any text and the linear
progression of the text. The second feature is the quality of logical reasoning which is assessed by
analyzing the interrelationships of writers' assertions and the associated support or data provided to
substantiate those claims. The third feature is identified as persuasive appeal, including affective
appeal and establishment of writer credibility. Finally, she notes that audience awareness is an
important characteristic of successful argumentative writing. The writer must observe an awareness
of the reader's perspective by dealing implicitly or explicitly with possible

Arguementive Essay

  • 1. Argumentative Essay: It's Time To Stop Poaching Imagine going to the zoo and not see your beloved picture book animals. When people think of problems in the environment they think of global warming and pollution. Well, Poaching is also one of those problems. As years go on poaching has only gotten worse and as a result, animales have been paying the price. As many nations have gotten on board to try to stop the illegal trafficking animals, poachers have not yet stopped. Therefore penalties for poaching should be severe.Poaching is the cause of many species extinction, drug dealing, and weapon smuggling. Poaching is one of the causes for the extinction of many animals, such as rhinos, tigers, elephants and much more. According to The World Book Web Encyclopedia animals which are being hunted ...show more content... By depending on the black market to help sell animal parts, it gives out an idea that this is illegal. In fact, The World Book Web claims that Poachers use animal remains in the trading for weapons and narcotics. Furthermore, this shows how poachers don't just sell but buy illegally. Doubtless, poachers are not alone on this there are people helping, which if we want to get rid of it, it will take time. Our society thinks it's a bad thing, but people who do it are doing it for a reason. They will say they are doing it for profit and/or for food. People have the right to think that it is causing animals go extinct, but there will always be a counter claim from another person arguing that it's not true. For every argument, there is a counter claim and in this case, the topic is poaching.Poaching is very severe and harmful to the environment while others might say that poaching is great because it sells for a lot of profit. What they don't realize is how much damage they are actually Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Feminism Argumentative Essay Many people like to think that feminism is irrelevant, for society has gotten so far. It's true that there has been a progression within the past century, but there are still issues that need resolving. One can't say that misogyny does not exist, neither can they deny that violence against women is a problem. Throughout history, all over the world, women have struggled under the patriarchy. Similarly to certain people who believe feminism isn't important, meninists are altogether opposed to feminism. Meninism was originally a term used to describe a male feminist, almost like the White Panthers, who supported the Black Panthers. Then a Twitter user, Ti Belogun, made a tweet, stating that it's a term for a movement against feminists. He later apologized, but it was too late, for it had already become a movement. It had gotten to the point that...show more content... One of their arguments is that there are classes for women's studies, but nothing about men's studies. They are oblivious to the fact that the reason there are women's studies classes is because history classes in general focus mainly on the history of men. Another argument is that, when divorced couples are fighting for custody, the mother gains custody more often than the man. For this, they blame feminism. The only reason this happens is because the judge may have the misogynistic idea that women are better with children. This idea is misogynistic because, throughout history, motherhood was seen as the only thing that women were worth, that they were unable to do anything outside of serving her husband and/or children. What many people don't understand is that feminism can benefit both men and women (Mekinski, Maddy paras 1–6). For example, feminism helps fight hyper–masculinity. Hyper–masculinity is a term used to describe a feeling that some men often get where they feel that they have to do something to avoid looking cowardly or feminine. They have a fear of femininity because it's a trait used to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Argumentative Essay On Global Warming Global warming, we see it as sad polar bears hopelessly swimming for their lives in the ocean. It's shown as rising sea levels that can washout entire cities. It even sometimes gets turned into politics but scientifically, what is the definition of global warming? It is the heating up the of Earth, caused by infrared radiation that gets stuck in our atmosphere because of the increase of CO2 put into the atmosphere. Infrared radiation is electromagnetic radiation that cannot be seen by the human eye, but we feel it as heat. Seems pretty logical doesn't it? To some it doesn't seem as reasonable. Some believe global warming isn't a man made problem, but just a cycle of 'weather patterns'. For example, our now president –Donald J. Trump– doesn't consider climate change to a threat to the inhabitants of earth. Our president also said that global warming is a 'hoax'. "Snowing in Texas and Louisiana, record setting freezing temperatures throughout the country and beyond. Global warming is an expensive hoax!" –Donald J. Trump This is what many people believe, and this tweet too seems pretty logical to a majority of people. But in 2014 January 29th when Donald J. Trump posted this tweet, there was record setting freezing temperatures happening nation and worldwide. But also 2014 was one of the top three hottest years on record. Now that doesn't seem like a 'hoax'. Humans don't like being wrong. It's embarrassing, uncomfortable to believe something and then be confronted about it. So that's why there's still high percentage of people who don't believe in the change in climate. People who work with oil companies don't want to acknowledge it because it can ruin their business. Politicians ignore the problem because it costs money to fix our past mistakes. That fear, people being scared, it makes us shut down. But we can try ignoring the problem, but the thing about problems is, they can be ignored but they never truly disappear. Weather may feel the same as every other year, but The whole world is heating up, including our vast oceans. Tropical hurricanes need to have surface water temperatures to be 26В°C or more for them to form. As our oceans get hotter hurricanes are able to form farther out in the sea Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Argumentative Essay On Air Pollution "Air pollution is terrible for our children. Every single scientist, every single doctor will tell you the same thing: Air pollution damages our children's brains, their hearts, and their lungs," verbalized by Julianne Moore. As Moore stated, pollution is terrible for our youth and can be verified by scientists and doctors. There's nothing quite like opening the door and breathing fresh, clean air but how clean is the air you're breathing right now? Air pollution is not only detrimental to humans but all life on earth is harmed by it. It's the presence of the air of a substance which has inimical and poisonous effects contributing to climate change. Pollution has an astronomically immense impact on our environment, in human health, and is an inimical catastrophe in the earth today. Smoking, global warming, overpopulation, and pollution emitting from vehicles including cars, airplanes, and trains are all additionally the causes of pollution in California cities, especially Merced. One issue of air pollution are the things humans use in their everyday life; vehicles. Vehicles emit carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, which contribute one–fifth of the United States' total global warming pollution. In 2016, cars, trucks, and diesel are responsible for about 80 percent of the Valley's pollution (Heinks 1). High–levels of environmental pollution is detrimental to human and animal health. Because of vehicles, lung disease can occur or worsened by it. "Particle pollutants are found more excessively in the winter because of woodsmoke, diesel from trucks and agricultural systems." (Velez 1) Since we have an extensive of agricultural systems, it's a huge contributor pollution in our Valley. Speaking of agricultural systems, Merced is surrounded by farming and agriculture; and air quality is a top priority for the Central Valley. The huge growth in industrial agriculture is using fertilizers, pesticides, and many other chemical products to increase crop yields and feed the world's ever–growing population. On the other hand, pesticides not only apply to farming but inside the household too. According to Environmental Protection Agency, seventy–five percent of the United States households used at least one pesticide Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Argumentative Reflection Argumentative Essay Reflection One of my central struggles throughout high school has been writing essays and reports for all classes not just english. I was a little worried when I signed up to take this course, since it counted as a college credit. Even though I was worried about taking this course, but I am thankful that I did. The main reason behind my decision to take this course is because I thought it would better prepare me for college. This argumentative essay was one of the hardest essay that I have written. I have never written in this style before this essay. Even though, I have never been the best writer, I have always got good grades. After receiving my first rough draft I knew this class was not going to be easy. The part...show more content... One of the areas of my writing where I was struggling in using my voice. Granite, there were parts of my essay where I successfully integrated quotes within my voice, but for the most part that was my weakest area. For example of one of my better integrated quotes, in my third paragraph when I say, "Today, consumers rely on social media for everything, whether it is communicating with old friends, finding new friends, shopping, researching, and staying informed with the latest news. Daniel adds that, "'Americans who take part in political activities on social networking sites also tend to be highly active in other areas of political or civic life'" (29), which insinuates that people rely on social media more today than we have in the past". This was one of my better examples because I further explain and analyze the quote in my voice instead of just ending the sentence after the quote. One of my poor examples is, "Many people who suffer from depression care a lot about what others think about them. That is why many of those people tend to turn to social media as an outlet to express their feelings". I made a bold statement and did not back up what I said with my voice I just ended that sentence and moved on. Instead of moving on I should have explained it further and told them why people tend to turn to social media to express their feelings. • 6. Argumentative Essay On Artifice Many people say that political leaders must be held to higher standards and speak nothing but the truth. However, that which Hedges' said, that "the most essential skill... is artifice," is very true. The best politicians out there, are often not the ones that have the best ideas, but rather the ones that can trick and then steal the hearts of their audiences. The people of the world will often support and vote for the candidate with the story that impacts them the most. The stories the candidates say may often not be true, this is what Hedges' meant when he said that "the most essential skill.... Is artifice." To use a recent example, Donald Trump gained loads of support by proclaiming he was not the "typical politician." He constantly reminded the people that he was raised in America and a "man of the people." He also repeated his famous slogan of...show more content... There is no need for the College Board, yet they make it seems like there is. The College Board has been tricking thousands of students each year that the only way they can get into college, is by taking multiple standardized tests they created. In reality, the College Board just wants your money and the tests are not good indicators for one's intelligence. The test is stupid and if colleges only looked at your GPA and grades, then many qualified and learned students who are not good at standardized tests or messed up on one, will be accepted to the college of their choice. However, the College Board has already tricked most of America and now they have trapped us because we need them so that we can get into college. The College Board has successfully sucked me and most likely you as well, into a hole we cannot get out of. They have taken our money and will only take more. The College Board, because of successful artifice, is currently an unfortunate necessary evil that is controlling our Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Steroid Argumentative Essay Imagine that you just won the Gold in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. Now imagine the Gold getting Stripped from your hands by the officials of the Olympics. All because you decided to take steroids. Every year 45% of all Athletes take some sort of steroid or performance enhancing drug (Barnes). Many high school athletes take steroids for football or baseball. But some kids take steroids for weight lifting and that is all they take it for the do not even play sports. Both of these reasons are wrong morally and legally, but if there was one that was worse it would taking steroids for weight lifting. At least the people that take it for sports have a reason. Steroids may provide you a scholarship to college but it eventually show and...show more content... Players gained a lot of muscles quickly (also unhealthy, but no one knew) and raced to hit more home runs than their opponents. This has created a huge discussion throughout MLB on how to crack down on these players and how to prevent it from happening in the future. Even though he's the all time leader in home runs, points, and hit percentage, Barry Bonds' name will forever be marked as the "bad guy" because of he used steroids. In the July of 2013, Ryan Braun, an outfielder, was under a 65 game suspension for taking steroids. Shortly after, 12 MLB players were given a 50 game suspension. Alex Rodriguez is under huge a 200 game suspension (which he is currently on) from taking steroids and then giving them out to his team. (Baseball). Steroids are used in sports, for the most part, to amplify the performance of athletes. In most cases, the steroids used among athletes are anabolic types. Anabolic actually means "build or increase mass". These steroids have been in use by high school, college, and professional athletes all around the globe for centuries. There are a huge amount of different types of steroids; in–fact, there are many of diferent types found in nature. The ones found in nature are not as effective as the ones that are man made. The anabolic steroids are probably the most common type of steroid used among athletes. Within this classification, again we have a lot of different types of steroids; countless forms, alternate forms and derivatives, and there are so many it can, at times, seem very Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Argumentative Essay On Gun Violence Argumentative Essay One gun, one church, and one miserable Wednesday night. On June 17th, 2015 Dylann Roof set out for a mass killing spree killing nine victims, including a pastor. Certain rights could uphold gun laws and make it so such things do no happen; unfortunately these tragic things do still occur. However, people who do follow the law and do follow laws help in some of these tragic occurrences. Although these things happen it is our God given right as United States citizens to bear arms. Through the second amendment and other gun laws, we could live in peace and still have our rights to bear arms. The massacre that killed nine victims happened during an evening prayer at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church (Connor, 4). People ranged from 26 to 81, and a pastor of 23 years were all victims of this massacre. Dylann illegally purchased a .45–caliber Glock handgun for this crime (Connor, 2). The purchase was legal despite his...show more content... For example, in 2002 a law school shooting in Grundy, Virginia, came to an end when a student confronted the shooter (Hunter, 1). Many cases have come up including gun violence; however guns are not the problem, people are! A 2009 workplace shooting in Houston, Texas was stopped by two workers who had their carried concealed handguns (Hunter, 1). People with carry–and–conceal weapons have come to save the day in high schools, middle schools, malls, workplaces, and even in churches. Another example was in 2012 in Aurora, Colorado, when during a church service a shooting was stopped by a member of the congregation (Hunter, 2). It is so easy to point the blame towards guns when guns can help us in many more ways than they can hurt us. This could have been avoided if someone else had a carried conceal weapon or if Roof had been responsible enough to get one or not have on at Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Argumentative Essay On Addiction Addiction Rough Draft Did you know that it is statistically proven that addiction is more common than diabetes? 10% of the human population is addicted to either a drug or alcohol. A person can be addicted to several substances, not just drugs and alcohol. By having more options of addiction, this will increase the percentage of addicts. There is so many scenarios to addiction that anyone around could be an addict without realizing it. Several people may believe addiction is something that can easily fixed or they may think it is rare. What people do not know is that addiction is a situation much more serious and goes in depth further than they may expect. It's a desire that no one wants. It is a condition that is difficult to escape once you begin. Addicts can be so in depth with addiction that they can not get out of it. Addiction is an action that comes with negative yet impactful outcomes. Addiction can affect those who are around especially family members. Fit will affect other by the actions you do. Aggression can develop and people will begin to isolate. No one likes to be around an aggressive person. An addict can also have mood swings. Drugs or alcohol, for example, already affect your mentally when not sober. Family members can feel like they are the ones to be blamed. Family supports and loves one another. By seeing a family member fall into bad habits, it would be logical that they would feel like they have failed as family. Not only would they feel like they Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Argumentative Essay On Standardized Testing Standardizes test is the way of measuring a student's intelligence in most of the school nowadays. Standardized test are created in a specific way, student are expected to answer a set of question, usually multiple–choice or false or true questions, in a given certain amount of time. These test are usually used to compare the performance and intelligence of a student a relative situation. However, these tests do not truly expose what a student actually understands and learns, but instead only provide an idea of how a student can do on a generic test. Standardized testing, as they are being used in the modern society, are an erroneous way to test the skills of today's student. Usually, people think that these types of tests are a good way of comparing students across the whole country. However, what people ignore is the fact that these types of test are an inaccurate way of measuring the performance of a student. According to an article published by Education Week, non–instructional factors explain most of the variance among test scores when schools or districts are compared. According to the article a study in 1992 showed that the combination of variables such as number of parents living at home, parents' educational background, type of community, and poverty rate accounted for 89 percent of the differences in state scores. Also, this type of testing is an improper and imprecise form of judging a person's intellect due to the fact that in order to pass a test, rote Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Argumentative Essay On Space Exploration Throughout history, humans have been fascinated by the unknown, which includes outer space. We believe it is not necessary to spend valuable taxpayer dollars to fund a doubtful cause. The government must reconsider the sources spent on space exploration. Spending tax payers' money to explore space is a waste of time, resources, and does not benefit anyone. The country should unite as one to forbid explorers from draining precious time trying to discover life in outer space. Though life may exist in space, that does not mean "aliens will come and attack." Since water is used everyday, it may not be gone, same goes for money. Money is how people are living in this world. Money is used to buy food, houses, to survive and live your life. "The amount of money that is spent on NASA's coffers is $17 billion and $5.3 billion will be to space exploration" (Source E). With that amount of money, there would be no poverty in United States. Poverty is a huge problem, although it may not concern everyone, there is a point in life where you will experience poverty. The government should be capable of banning the word poverty, allowing poverty to end in this country. • 14. Essay about Arguing Against Standardized Testing To many students standardized testing has become another part of schooling that is dreaded. Standardized testing has been a part of school since the nineteen–thirties; in those days it was used as a way to measure students that had special needs. Since the time that standardized test have been in American schools there has been many programs that have placed an importance on the idea of standardized testing such as the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (Evans 1). Over the years the importance of standardized testing has increased tremendously and so has the stakes, not only for teachers but also students. While others may believe that standardized testing just needs a few improvements, others believe that it is impossible to have a test that measures accurately the capability of a diverse student population. Today's schooling depends heavily on the test scores from standardized test. Standardized testing should not have so much weight put on them because they have a negative impact on effective education, students' self–concept, and learning styles. Although standardized testing has been a major part of schooling it has also had a negative impact on effective education. Standardized has made a huge impact on public schooling so much that not only does it affect the students but also the teachers. With the teachers now beginning to get raises or having their jobs on the line if their students fail the test, many students have not been getting the fullest education process that they could get. Students may not realize the impact that it has had on the type of teaching style that they receive because they are so used to it. With so many teachers not having a lot of time to teach what is on the test and the other things that they feel are important to students to know, a lot of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Argumentative Essay About Anime Do you watch cartoons? I do. Not bugs bunny; I'm talking about anime. Do you know what that is? Anime is, simply put, animation that's made in Japan. I'll give you some examples of anime that you might know. Speed Racer, Hello Kitty, Pokemon, RoboTech, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, and a lot of the cartoons you find on Cartoon Network qualify as well, particularly Adult Swim. Thankfully our country has gotten the rights to translate the stories from Japanese to English, because the storylines in anime are really good. Often they're better than what Hollywood shovels into your brain. That's basically what anime is. Now let's talk about what it's not. Anime is not a genre; it's an art form; a medium. From now on I want you to think of anime as being equated with movies, books, music, etc; all the entertainment media. Just like you have movies for kids, movies for teens, adults, so it is with anime. All your entertainment comes in 31 flavors, right? Comedy, horror, drama, suspense, action, etc. You file similar movies on the same shelf in the store, don't you? But you shouldn't be putting all anime on the same shelf because anime is not a genre. It's a medium, like movies are a medium, like books are a medium. A medium can have any genre of entertainment in it; well so can anime. Anime is not all sex and violence as some people will tell you. When I hear someone say that anime is sex and violence, that immediately tells me that they watched probably one particular anime show Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Argumentative Essay On Racism Growing up in a small town that consists of almost 90 percent of the same race, you don't take into consideration the social diversity that goes on in the world around you. So, growing up in a family of white, I never really knew what it was like to truly see color. Color isn't always vibrant and beautiful, sometimes it ugly, and I learned this the hard way. Racism is a word that we hear every day; whether it's on the news, the internet, or even television shows, it's literally all around us. Just because we hear the word, doesn't mean we fully comprehend the significance of the meaning. Racism, by definition, is the practice of discriminating against people based on their race, national or ethnic background. Now knowing the definition of...show more content... You cannot judge one person on the actions of another. We must adapt to accepting each other, regardless of how "different" everyone may seem. I've never been oblivious to our history, I knew that slavery existed and that the world we live in is a cruel place, but I also knew that I was a privileged white girl. I had heard the stories, I knew who Rosa Parks was and I knew Martin Luther King had a dream, I understood all of it. But this time, I wasn't just another student reading in my history text book of a situation that I would never have to be in. Rather, I was an eighteen–year–old white girl who fell in love with a black guy. My boyfriend is of the mixed ethnicity; he is Caucasian, African–American, and Hawaiian. Compared to me, he has a darker complexion and is clearly not fully Caucasian. To me, this never matter, but I didn't realize how much it mattered to other people. We were in Tyler County, for the local fair, when Troy went to go get some food. I sat down beside some woman, while I waited for him to return. When he approached me, the woman grasped her purse and immediately pulled it against her chest, as if he was going to steal it. • 17. Argumentative Essay On Low Self Esteem My friends were gaudy, flamboyant and vivacious as ever when I was a young girl, contrary to me and my painfully shy personality. I was content with this, but my mother always wanted me to fit in and to gain more confidence. Though I knew I would eventually evolve, it never felt right for me to try to be someone i was not. I wanted to change or evolve on my own terms rather than from pressure from my friends or my mother. I knew then, just as I know now, that changing myself was not going to be fun or easy and that faking interest in things I was not interested in would prove fruitless. If this took so much effort and even some pain, then there was no point in trying. As I saw it then, the end goal would land me further away than I had started. Teenage girls who feel constant pressure from peers and even adults to be perfect have very low self esteems. Three–fourths of girls with low self–esteem admitted to disordered eating, bullying, smoking or drinking (Low Self–Esteem). If these girls did not feel this pressure to be "perfect" or to be ideal, then their self esteems might not be so low and self harm rates would quickly sink. One way to eliminate pressure would be to allow them to express themselves, or not to express themselves. Another way to eliminate societal pressure would be to allow them to be their authentic selves instead of pushing them to be different or to fit in. • 18. Argumentative Essay: The Bill Of Rights The freedoms outlined in the Bill of Rights are sill significant today, and thanks to them the American citizens have a right to speak out freely, assemble in a peaceful manner, or to get a speedy and more importantly fair trial. In my opinion, this document and its heritage has been incorporated into the United States in a way to ensure the strength of its character. Undeniably, the ideals represented in the Bill of Rights were introduced to serve as the country's foundation. I believe that people all over the world, putting aside their abode, race, gender, sexuality, or ethnicity should be entitled to the exact same rights.
