Essay on Technology and Education
Technology and Education
Education is one of the most important professions in the working world. Technology has done many
things for us in today's society especially for education and schools. Technology in the school system
has impacted the students and teachers in many positive ways, including virtual field trips, testing
tips, teacher resources, class web sites, and lesson plans. With computer use in our schools, we have
access to many different sources and various types of learning.
Virtual field trips are a good way for kids to learn and get involved with computers. Students can go
on all sorts of exciting trips and not even leave the classroom. Students can go on boat trips. They
can follow other kids in different...show more content...
On the Internet teachers have set plans or guidelines for other teachers to look at and get ideas on
what to do for their classroom. I think this is a great idea for teachers to use especially for new and
young teachers to get some great ideas. By using this tool, teachers could hopefully get better and
new ideas on how to teach certain subjects or try new things with the students. Teachers can get hints
on how they can give tests, or how to help the students become better test takers on the Internet. The
web site http//www.schoolnotes.com showed many different ways teachers could help the students.
The site gives teachers ideas on the best ways to give oral test, true and false tests, by giving the
teacher instructions on how to successfully present the material. Class Webs are another way
teachers and students can get involved with the Internet and technology; students can help their
teachers create a web page for their class. Many teachers use the Internet to find Resources for the
classroom. They can find many things for the class to do on the Internet like games and projects.
I have talked to a couple of teachers when I worked for an elementary school in high school during
my Junior and Senior year. I asked the teachers whom I worked with what they thought of using the
computers in schools. They said it is a nice thing to have in school for the students. The teachers
liked the idea that they could get the students on programs to help

Poverty Satire
Poverty Satire With the advancement of poverty in the United States it is time to solve the
homeless situation. Thousands of Americans are homeless and taking up space on the city's
streets. A simple solution to this problem would be to allow the homeless to reside in landfills.
They would be able to sort through the waste to find appropriate cardboard boxes to live in. This
could also be used as a form of employment allowing them to sort through recycling to improve the
environment. It is also a statistical fact that many Americans throw away food that goes untouched.
Not only would they have a permanent residence of their choosing but this also insures that they
would have plenty of food to maintain their strength to sort trash....show more content...
The landfill residents can also use their resources to better their education. The writings and
nutrition facts on the backs of cereal boxes along with the short stories about fields of lavender and
honeysuckles on lotion bottles can easily suffice as a quick English lesson. The shelters in the
landfills will consist primarily of cardboard boxes but it will give the residents a chance to express
their creativity. The residents could even

The Outsiders Analysis
Heros in Grease It's a bird! It's a plane! No it's... a Greaser? The Outsiders is a book written by S.E.
Hilton about a boy named Ponyboy Curtis that is a Greaser who is involved with a murder of a
Socs along with his friend Johnny Cade. While it was under self defence, the cops would never
believe them so they flee the town. Ponyboy is faced with many challenges along the way that
involve his brother's (Sodapop and Darry), his safety, a church fire, and Johnny and Dally Winston
death. During all this chaos, heroic actions are taking place throughout the story with most of the
characters. Three heroes from The Outsiders include Johnny Cade, Darry Curtis, and Two– Bit
Mathews. The most heroic of them all is surprisingly the smallest; Johnny Cade. When Ponyboy
wakes up from being roughly attacked by Socs trying to drown him, he notices Johnny is sitting
by him all shook up. Johnny says, "I had to. They were drowning you Pony. They might have
killed you. And they had a blade." The Outsiders by S.E. Hilton. Johnny killed a Soc to save
Ponyboy's life! If he didn't, Ponyboy and most likely him as a will would of been badly hurt or
worse, killed. Just like in the movies, Johnny killed the bad guy to save the maiden in distress, well,
Ponyboy in this situation. All Johnny needs now is the ability to fly and a suit and a superhero will
be born in no time. Next, Darry Curtis, the macho man himself, shows much heroics. In the story,

So this halloween me and my sister decided to go trick or treating with some of mine and her
friends. So my mom and dad drove us to one of my sisters friends houses because we were all
gonna meet up there. So we pull into the neighborhood and it's pretty dark. There werent any
lights on. Which me and my friends thought was cool but the girls were freaking out. "I don't like
being in the dark can we go somewhere else," said Jade. "I think trick or treating in the dark will
be fun," said my friend tyler. "Besides me and my friends want to scare people in the alley," I
exclaimed. So we started to go trick or treating, first we went to some of the lit up houses and they
had pretty good candy. T Then me and my friends found this...show more content...
We started to walk and then right in front of us stood a large clown. "Guys over here," I
exclaimed." "No everybody over here," said tyler. As we all turned around we figured out why
the was a mad man with a pickaxe in his hand now chasing after us, as our hearts dropped we ran
to a curve in the alley and stopped there for a minute. After we thought we were safe Jade's friend
named Mia screamed "Run,"as the guy with the chainsaw came crashing right through the fence
we were resting on and we ran for our lives not looking back. We finally reached our friends house
We got inside locked all the doors and windows. "Who were those people," said tyler. "Oh carp,
we left our candy," said mia "Danget I had some good stuff in there," said mia. "Should we go
back and get it," I offered. "NO," the whole group yelled. "Where are your parents," asked Tyler.
They said they were going to dinner they should be home any minute now. A little while later my
mom and dad got home but for some odd reason they had all my friends moms and dads too. After
they all stepped in the started laughing at us. "What's so funny," I said wondering why they were
laughing at us. "Do you guys want some candy," they asked teasingly. They held up all of our
bags of candy. Then for the rest of the night we sat and talked about how badly they had scared all
of us. Also how funny it was for them. As everyone was leaving all of my friends and I gathered in a
circle and Mia whispered, "Wait till next

Personal Narrative
All or Nothing My eyes pop open to the sound of my phone blaring "Turn my Swag on" by Soulja
Boy. Hesitantly, I roll out of bed to see the sun– whispering through my window– promising me
another warm day. Knowing that I had to be out of the door in thirty minutes, I swiftly dressed
myself, chugged my morning smoothie, grabbed my bag, and ran out the door. While departing
form my house to Atlanta, a journey I had done too many times too count, I recall the first time
that I had made this very trip. "But Dad, I don't wanna drive!" I whined, even though there had
been no time for that; we had two hours of open highway to conquer. I had felt butterflies adding to
my stomach with every mile closer the gps informed me I was getting to the practice...show more

I had been ready for practice. It was only when I had finally gotten back, sitting in the same
concrete bleachers watching another group of athletes practice; I had begun to feel nervous. Unlike
the minicamp, I had attended the day before; the athletes were throwing a foreign object that I had
never seen or heard of before–the weight. Coach Ronda and I walked up to the tennis courts that
were parallel to the track. I had a weight in hand, and while she had been excited to teach me, was
far more excited about having someone in the club that is as tall as her. At first she showed me
position one, two, and three. We put the three steps together, and practiced until the positions of
my turns were acceptable. What felt like eternity, but in all reality had only been about an hour, it
was finally time for shot put! Coach Mike was pouring so much information into my saturated
mind like how I should be lifting with my hips, striking my arm out over the toe board while I
released the shot put, and the most important thing he had emphasized, was that I needed to get
faster. All too soon it had been time to head back home. While heading home, of course my dad
wanted to talk about practice had gone, I told him that there was no way I could ever go back to
basketball knowing how much throwing could hold in store for

A Dystopian Story
Possible ideas for Dystopian Story
I look to the right of my bed and it's there; crouching beside me. Its face is pure white and doesn't
resemble skin at all, but a shining porcelain. The monster doesn't have a mouth – there is just skin
running down from the bottom of its nose to its chin. Shielding it's beady eyes are a pair of
raven–black goggles strapped to its bald head. It wears what resembles a completely circular helmet
the colour of a neon orange and its hands are covered in tactical gloves, dark as a jet–black night. It
wears an amber jumpsuit and stare into my soul. Its wretched face is about five centimetres away
from mine and I can feel an ice cold breath creep onto my forehead. The creatures body is hunched

Looming over me was a man in a blue pinstripe suit holding a leather briefcase. His wrinkled
forehead displayed beads of sweat and stress was painted on his face. "Rise and Shine, Anastasia."
He said with a certain accentuated low–key moroseness to his tone, placing unusual stress on
syllables and stressing the wrong parts of words. "Wake up, Anastasia" He continued, "Wake up
and smell the ashes of your people." I glowing blue eyes staring at me, observing every detail of
my being. I called for my Mum and Dad, but they were gone. The world looked different that day.

many planes in the sky, like birds flying south and there were bones and pieces of metal all over the
ground. That was when I was deported to The Society. To my new

Reflection Essay
A few years ago, I had a Chinese student in my classroom, Evan was his name. He was very bright
and inquisitive. His parents spoke very little English and ran a local Chinese restaurant close to the
school. While this student was one of my highest readers his comprehension and background
knowledge were not strong. I discovered this early in the year during a social studies lesson. In the
lesson, I was using vocabulary words that would be in the unit. I had a picture pulled up on the
smartboard of a little girl carrying a stack of folded towels. The lesson was about citizenship and
helping others. This girl in the picture was helping her mother by folding towels and putting them
away. When I asked Evan to explain to me how the girls was showing good citizenship in the
picture, he could not. He did not know the name of the objects that the girls was carrying. When I
asked him if they used towels in his house, he could not answer me. He could not make the
connection between what the girls was carrying, and how that meant she was helping her mother.
Obviously, they use towels at his house or they would all go around soaking wet! But Evan did not
have the vocabulary as an English Language Learner to make a connection so that he could learn
what I was trying to teach him. He shut down and appeared embarrassed and did not want to
participate further in the class discussion during that lesson. "Creating a favorable learning
environment, to our way of thinking, should involve

1)Emotions are feelings or thoughts that are hard to express to family or loved ones, the actual
taught definition of the word emotions is "Emotions are processes shaped by physiology,
perceptions and social experience." (Lecture 3, Slide 3). When thinking about all the emotions an
individual could have, two emotions that are difficult for me to express would be sadness and
affection. When experiencing emotions from someone else it's difficult for me to handle grief and
anger, due to certain situation I personal had to deal with and situations I seen people around me
dealing with. When looking back at my notes, lecture two, slide six has taught me how that there are
major influences on us and that determines the relationships we have with...show more content...
c)When the emotion of sadness does come upon me, some things I do or tell myself when I do start
experiencing this emotion is to keep in controlled meaning to keep my calm, and not to overthink the
reason behind the emotion, exactly name what I'm feeling (Lecture 3), name it and understand why
the reason behind the emotion is making me feel sadness. Telling myself that everything is going to
be okay and that feeling this emotion isn't the end of the world is something natural and calming
treatment I end up doing mentally.
d)Some indirect ways that I express the emotion of sadness is by making sure that the topic that are
sad are talked about and shared upon a group of friends or family member another way I show
sadness is when someone is going through a rough time involving something personal, I try to
connect on that individual's level. Showing feelings that are out of your comfort is a good way to
over come an emotion.
e)I would strongly like to change the way the emotion of sadness makes me feel, I want to be able
to express sadness and not be a closed off person no matter who im showing the emotion towards. In
another class discussion, the class shared countless stories about their past and how they got to
where they are today and the part that really touched my heart was when my classmates were sharing
the struggles that came along the way, and hearing their story and not being to react using sadness
was unbreakable.

Studying Abroad
College life is full of exciting and challenging opportunities. One of the most anticipated programs
for incoming freshmen is studying abroad for a summer, a semester, or an entire year. This is a
way to meet new people, experience new places, and break away from the daily routine of college
living. Some of the exotic destinations for study include Australia, Italy, the British Isles, France, and
Germany. The University of Dayton encourages all students to consider what the study abroad
program has to offer.
The program offers a wide variety of opportunities to each and every individual. Students will not
only take courses while they are in a foreign country, but they will also have the...show more

Despite any misconceptions, the study abroad program will cost only slightly more than a
semester would while being on campus at UD. The fees to participate in the program include
housing, program activities, meals, and tuition (quoted in UD Study Abroad pamphlet). However,
some fees are not included, such as airfare, books, and transportation. It is highly recommended
that students always plan accordingly for their spending money. Students may request additional
financial aid while in the study abroad program; they just have to consult their financial aid
advisor. In addition to financial aid, there are a number of scholarship programs that are available
and they are designed to support the study abroad program. For example, the Maureen Hanson '77
Fund, the ISSAP Scholarship Fund, and Cordell W. Hull International Fellows Fund, just to name a
few, are all readily available to give assistance with the financial part of studying abroad (quoted in
UD Study Abroad pamphlet).
Year after year, students who participate in this wonderful program are willing to share their great
experiences, and they will recommend it without any hesitation. One such student is Junior, Matthew
McCue. Matthew traveled to Australia with the study abroad program, and while he was there, he
climbed a mountain in the Australian Outback, scuba dove in the Great Barrier Reef, and

Benny, the War in Europe, and Myerson's
Daughter Bella
When Benny was sent overseas in the autumn of 1941 his father, Mr. Garber, thought that if he
had to give up one son to the army, it might as well be Benny who was a quiet boy, and who
wouldn't push where he shouldn't; and Mrs. Garber thought: "my Benny, he'll take care, he'll
watch out;" and Benny's brother Abe thought "when he comes back, I'll have a garage of my own,
you bet, and I'll be able to give him a job." Benny wrote every week, and every week the Garbers
sent him parcels full of good things that a Jewish boy should always have, like salami and pickled
herring and shtrudel. The...show more content...

that never failed to intimidate. His daughĐ’ ter, Bella, worked behind the counter. She had a

was generally supposed that she would end up an old maid. Anyway she was the one – the first one
– who noticed that the war in Europe had changed Benny. And, as a matter of fact, the very first
time he came into the store after his homecoming she said to him: "What's wrong, Benny'? Are you
afraid?"
"I'm all right," he said.
Benny was a quiet boy. He was short and skinny with a long narrow face, a pulpy mouth that was
somewhat crooked, and soft black eyes. He had big, conspicuous hands, Thich he preferred to keep
out of sight in his pockets. In fact, he seemed to want to keep out of sight altogether and whenever

Teachers can get hints on how they can give tests, or how to help the students become better test takers on the Internet. The web site http//www.schoolnotes.com showed many different ways teachers could help the students. The site gives teachers ideas on the best ways to give oral test, true and false tests, by giving the teacher instructions on how to successfully present the material. Class Webs are another way teachers and students can get involved with the Internet and technology; students can help their teachers create a web page for their class. Many teachers use the Internet to find Resources for the classroom. They can find many things for the class to do on the Internet like games and projects. I have talked to a couple of teachers when I worked for an elementary school in high school during my Junior and Senior year. I asked the teachers whom I worked with what they thought of using the computers in schools. They said it is a nice thing to have in school for the students. The teachers liked the idea that they could get the students on programs to help Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Poverty Satire Poverty Satire With the advancement of poverty in the United States it is time to solve the homeless situation. Thousands of Americans are homeless and taking up space on the city's streets. A simple solution to this problem would be to allow the homeless to reside in landfills. They would be able to sort through the waste to find appropriate cardboard boxes to live in. This could also be used as a form of employment allowing them to sort through recycling to improve the environment. It is also a statistical fact that many Americans throw away food that goes untouched. Not only would they have a permanent residence of their choosing but this also insures that they would have plenty of food to maintain their strength to sort trash....show more content... The landfill residents can also use their resources to better their education. The writings and nutrition facts on the backs of cereal boxes along with the short stories about fields of lavender and honeysuckles on lotion bottles can easily suffice as a quick English lesson. Hilton about a boy named Ponyboy Curtis that is a Greaser who is involved with a murder of a Socs along with his friend Johnny Cade. While it was under self defence, the cops would never believe them so they flee the town. Ponyboy is faced with many challenges along the way that involve his brother's (Sodapop and Darry), his safety, a church fire, and Johnny and Dally Winston death. During all this chaos, heroic actions are taking place throughout the story with most of the characters. Three heroes from The Outsiders include Johnny Cade, Darry Curtis, and Two– Bit Mathews. The most heroic of them all is surprisingly the smallest; Johnny Cade. When Ponyboy wakes up from being roughly attacked by Socs trying to drown him, he notices Johnny is sitting by him all shook up. Johnny says, "I had to. They were drowning you Pony. They might have killed you. And they had a blade." The Outsiders by S.E. Hilton. Johnny killed a Soc to save Ponyboy's life! If he didn't, Ponyboy and most likely him as a will would of been badly hurt or worse, killed. Just like in the movies, Johnny killed the bad guy to save the maiden in distress, well, Ponyboy in this situation. All Johnny needs now is the ability to fly and a suit and a superhero will be born in no time. Next, Darry Curtis, the macho man himself, shows much heroics. In the story, Sodapop ran out of their house Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Hesitantly, I roll out of bed to see the sun– whispering through my window– promising me another warm day. Knowing that I had to be out of the door in thirty minutes, I swiftly dressed myself, chugged my morning smoothie, grabbed my bag, and ran out the door. While departing form my house to Atlanta, a journey I had done too many times too count, I recall the first time that I had made this very trip. "But Dad, I don't wanna drive!" It was only when I had finally gotten back, sitting in the same concrete bleachers watching another group of athletes practice; I had begun to feel nervous. Unlike the minicamp, I had attended the day before; the athletes were throwing a foreign object that I had never seen or heard of before–the weight. Coach Ronda and I walked up to the tennis courts that were parallel to the track. I had a weight in hand, and while she had been excited to teach me, was far more excited about having someone in the club that is as tall as her. At first she showed me position one, two, and three. We put the three steps together, and practiced until the positions of my turns were acceptable. What felt like eternity, but in all reality had only been about an hour, it was finally time for shot put! Coach Mike was pouring so much information into my saturated mind like how I should be lifting with my hips, striking my arm out over the toe board while I released the shot put, and the most important thing he had emphasized, was that I needed to get faster. All too soon it had been time to head back home. While heading home, of course my dad wanted to talk about practice had gone, I told him that there was no way I could ever go back to basketball knowing how much throwing could hold in store for Get more content on HelpWriting.net

His parents spoke very little English and ran a local Chinese restaurant close to the school. While this student was one of my highest readers his comprehension and background knowledge were not strong. I discovered this early in the year during a social studies lesson. In the lesson, I was using vocabulary words that would be in the unit. I had a picture pulled up on the smartboard of a little girl carrying a stack of folded towels. The lesson was about citizenship and helping others. This girl in the picture was helping her mother by folding towels and putting them away. When I asked Evan to explain to me how the girls was showing good citizenship in the picture, he could not. He did not know the name of the objects that the girls was carrying. When I asked him if they used towels in his house, he could not answer me. He could not make the connection between what the girls was carrying, and how that meant she was helping her mother. Obviously, they use towels at his house or they would all go around soaking wet! But Evan did not have the vocabulary as an English Language Learner to make a connection so that he could learn what I was trying to teach him. He shut down and appeared embarrassed and did not want to participate further in the class discussion during that lesson.
