1) Online Forum (20%)
Students will discuss TEN topics given online via MyGuru.
Each topic carries a 2% mark.
For each given topic students must post ONE response and comment on at least THREE of
their colleagues’ responses to get the full 2% mark.
Each response and comment must be about 40-50 words in length.
Enter into any of the topics below and start your discussion. You can start with any topic that
you like but you should have finished discussing all the topics by the end of the deadline
given (Week 10).
TOPICS:
1. How to make teaching an attractive profession.
2. How to keep ourselves healthy.
3. How does learning English benefit you.
4. How to do our part to help against global warming.
5. Explain a single good deed that you have done.
6. How to reduce crime rate in this country.
7. Tell about an interesting holiday destination that you have been to.
8. Should we allow students to bring mobile phones to school?
9. If you were the Education Minister what is one thing that you would do/change?
10. How to improve the performance of our athletes at the global stage.
2) Assignment 1 (Video-Recorded Speech Presentation) (20%)
Make a video recording of a speech based on the topic given below.
The speech should be 4-5 minutes in length.
It is up to you how to make the video recording using any of the ICT gadgets available in the
market. However, your mark will be determined by your speech presentation only and
not the sophistication of the video (Please refer to the mark scheme for further
information).

A hard copy of the speech (in CD) should be posted to your tutor for evaluation and a soft
copy of the speech without video be uploaded in My Guru. Please make sure that you write
down your NAME AND GROUP at the back of the postal letter. (REMINDER: Deadline
Week 8)
Your tutor will evaluate the speech presentation based on the mark scheme provided.

TOPIC:
Give a speech on the criteria of an ideal teacher.
3) Assignment 2 (Essay Writing) (20%)
You are given a selection of topics to write an essay of about 400-500 words.
Submit the essay to the prepared assignment platform in MyGuru, and if asked, to
mail/email to the respective tutors.
Your tutors will evaluate the essay based on the mark scheme provided. (Appendix 2)
NOTE:
You should have the integrity to write the essay yourself. (Do note that tutors have the
software to detect plagiarisms)
You must cite any reference used in the essay (to acknowledge that the
information/ideas are not yours but taken from somewhere else)
No mark will be given to an essay that contains 30% or more of plagiarized work.
Follow the format given below:
o Font size: 12 point
o Font type: Times New Roman
o Line spacing: 1.5
Remember that the deadline is on Week 10
