ENGLISH AND FOCUS: EOP (ENGLISH FOR OCCUPATIONAL PURPOSES
ENGINEER)
1.Course Description:
This course called English for Occupational Purposes is designed for engineers to
acquire different skills and techniques to learn English interactively and to practice reading,
writing, speaking and listening while exercising their work within different companies,
integrating pedagogical strategies making use of TIC information and communication
technologies, in addition the course is responsible for answering the question: How do
interactive methodologies contribute to the learning of students for occupational purposes
such as engineering to acquire a second language easily and interactively?. Therefore,
different activities and teaching strategies based on the experiential model will be
implemented to respond in a coherent way to the needs of the learner.
For this, practical experience will be taken into account and the learner is encouraged
to fill himself with knowledge autonomously. Likewise, within the teaching-learning
process, the natural Approach method will be carried out and a didactic unit based on reading
and writing will be studied.
2. Course Objeive:
Respond to the student's needs, through the interaction of teaching materials and
activities integrating words of daily use by putting the EOP into practice, which will allow
the student to acquire different English language skills effectively and with the best attitude.
3. 3. Specific objectives:
• Study reading and writing skills frequently.
• Deepen the different English language skills not only to access work but also to put it
into practice in professional life.
• Integrate vocabulary most used in your profession so that it responds to the demands
that arise due to globalization.
• Understand texts and words within the workplace, as well as learn to write a message.
4. Course Learning Purpose:
The purpose is to focus the student on the study language skills, grammar, vocabulary
and resources, so that the student acquires a new vocabulary based on the work terms and the
words most used in the professional field.
5. Learning Outcomes:
The student acquisition learning will be evaluated as follows:
Learning Outcome 1: Easily analyze and understand the meaning of different texts.
Learning Outcome 2: Listen to and transcribe a song in English to practice grammar,
listening, and writing.
Learning Outcome 3: Know the student's needs by applying a questionnaire.
Learning Outcome 4: Identify vocabulary by observing different images.
Learning Outcome 5: Practice grammar through interactive online games like Kahoot!
Duolingo, Hangman, and Cake.
4. 6. Learning Strategy:
The strategies that guide the teaching-learning process are to acquire new knowledge
through the experiential model and the natural method, but TIC will be integrated as
fundamental tools for the development of the session, responding specifically to the ESP of
the engineer.
The strategies will then be applied as follows:
Task 1: English Level Test
Task 2: Talk about your needs.
Task 3: English grammatical organization.
Task 4: Write an essay about your experience within the company using words used in
business.
Task 5: Transcribe a song and record a video singing it.
Task 6: Final quiz
