Front cover analysis
1. This word unseen highlights how exclusive the
images are and would convince people to buy
the magazine because it would make them a
bigger fan of ‘Nirvana’ than they are already.
The masthead is always the same on
each magazine although the colour
can change. It is recognised by many
people. When in a shop looking to
buy NME magazine it is easily
recognisable.
The way that this is in a red circle makes it
stand out to the audience. The audience
would be interested in reading this because
it is a major event and very important to
fans of this band. I think that the use of ‘first
ever’ if effective because it highlights just
how important this event is and will make
people want to read on.
The model is using direct eye contact. This might
make people want to buy the magazine because
they feel like they are part of it, and that they feel
closer to the celebrity on the cover. If they are a
fan of the celebrity the direct eye contact will
convince them to buy the magazine as they feel
closer to the celebrity.
The brand logo on his jacket not only advertises
the company, but also draws people into the
magazine if they are interested in this clothing
range, which they are likely to if they read NME
magazine. Brand Identity.
Having the name ‘Noel Gallagher’ in a different colour to the rest of
the text on the front cover will draw people into the magazine and
make them want to buy it because it is a name they would
recognise and is somebody that the target audience would want to
read about.
