The four stages of the business cycle are complex phases that our economy undergoes. To grasp the concept of the stages, you must first be
familiarized with the business cycle itself. The business cycle is the alternating periods of growth and decline. Or to be more intricate, "The business
cycle is the periodic but irregular up–and–down movement in economic activity, measured by fluctuations in real gross domestic product (GDP) and
other macroeconomic variables," (Inc.com). Abusiness cycle is comprised of four stages: recovery, peak, recession, and trough.
In the recovery, the economy is growing. It is commonly indicated by a bull market. The recovery is the increase in the rate of economic activity
established by a moderate to low unemployment percentage, towering development, and swelling prices. The next phase of the business cycle is the
peak. The peak is the most desired stage for it is the superior point of the cycle. During this stage, the increased consumer confidence translates into
higher levels of business activity. The peak is, "When the economy is overheated, and is in a state of irrational exuberance," (Inc.com) In other
words, the peak is the point at which the economy is as robust as it can get. Following the peak in the business cycle is the recession. The recession is

According to the National Institute of Health, in 2011 823 million was spent in research dollars on obesity. However, only 15 million was spent on
homelessness(Estimate of Funding of Various Research, Condition, and Disease Categories; National Institute of Health) , and data from the
Department of Health and Human Services showed that in 2011 2.4 million was awarded to research poverty (Poverty Research Center FY 2011
Announcement of Award, Department of Health and Human Services). Somewhere there is a major disconnect in this country when how much a
person weighs is more important than if they have a job or adequate shelter.
The issue of have and the have–nots has existed ever since man has walked the earth. Throughout history there is proof that people have always lived
in some form of poverty whether it be as serfs, slaves, or immigrants to the U.S. living in ethnic ghettos. The number of people living in this country

The study of inequality in America is vital to understanding the complicated political and social issues in America. Barrington, Illinois, my home town,
is the picture of upper–middle class suburbia. It is a town with very little inequality, and very little diversity, but one which reveals some basic truths
about inequality in America. One must first look at a snapshot of what Barrington socioeconomic structure is, then evaluate this structure through the
theories of inequality. After these, and a quick evaluation of preconceived notions on Barrington's inequality versus the real data, and a comparison of
Barrington's data to that of the United States as a whole, some conclusions can be drawn. These data reveal a strong correlation between Barrington's
lack of economic inequality, and lack of demographic and social diversity.
Barrington, Illinois is what many would consider to be a very economically homogeneous city, a vital characteristic in examining its inequality (or lack

Fast Food Nation Obesity has grown into a rampant issue all over the United States, over the past few decades. Fast foods also have increased their
outlets in the nation, in turn, depicting a success in the business venture. It is clear that fast foods have become quite cheap in comparison to healthy,
homemade meals. Subsequently, people have turned to eat fast foods for economic reasons. Convenience is yet another reason behind people's high
indulgence in eating fast foods other than healthy, homemade meals. One does not need to prepare meals when dealing with fast foods; it is just a
matter of walking into a fast food restaurant. However, the rampant feeding on fast foods in America has adverse effects that seem to affect even...
However, this is not the case as fast food restaurants are vastly spread increasing chances of ordering meals from them instead of cooking at home.
This, however, is not a concrete reason to blame fast foods for the heightened levels of obesity in America. There are cases where people do not
reside near fast food restaurants but take the time to travel to purchase the fast foods. Thus, it is clear that locality of fast food restaurant is not to
reproach for the high levels of obesity in America, but the people bear the blame. People choose to walk into restaurants and order fast foods
regularly amid the danger surrounding their decision (Davies, and Hiram 42). People's ignorance is leading the society to a period where obesity will
be the norm and healthy living an unwanted lifestyle. Therefore, it is high time when people realized their mistakes and started living a healthy life.
Healthy feeding is one's responsibility despite the factors that may force one to turn to fast foods. In addition, it is the parent's responsibility to
encourage their children to lead a healthy lifestyle and help them embrace the fact that eating fast foods regularly is unhealthy and may cause obesity.

I will split the economic impact of slave labor into the three major sectors often used by modern economists (National Bureau of Economic Research,
n.d.).
1. Primary economies involve raw materials produced by farming, mining, logging, etc.
2. Secondary economy involves manufacturing of goods such as pottery, tools, and sundry goods.
3. Tertiary economy involves trade, and sales of goods.
Less indirect impacts such as the centralization of wealth, and the suppression of offshoot economies, and the economic impacts on subgroups will also

When most of the workers are slaves with little disposable income, there is little net benefit to the local economy. An additional factor is that newer and
smaller companies usually employ more people (National Bureau of Economic Research, n.d.). Unfortunately, with the centralization of wealth and
power small farms and businesses were often suppressed or gobbled up by the wealthy. Summary
The slave economy helped increase the inflow of wealth to Rome filling it's coffers and benefiting the wealthy nobility which grew up to take
advantage of it. It was the strength of this economy, which helped Rome achieve Greatness. This however, came at a cost since that wealth was
unevenly distributed and used to suppress competition from the less wealthy. In addition, a significant portion of the population was pushed into
poverty resulting in a welfare state. Thus resulting in a drain on the public coffers and the loss of productivity these people would normally have
provided.
I leave this discussion with a final thought. Rome was full of creative thinkers, architects, and engineers. If Rome had managed to wean itself off of
cheap slave labor, would solutions to rising labor costs goaded them into the creation of an industrial revolution, 1500 years in advanced to our
