2. RESEARCH
• The genre of my trailer is going to be a horror/thriller
because I enjoy watching this genre most and have
ideas which I feel will look good in this genre and
are accomplishable.
• I will need to study other trailers to get most of the
horror conventions right to make sure it looks like a
horror/thriller type film.
• Looking at fonts also and sounds in trailers will also
help me to create a trailer fit for an October
screening!
3. PLOT IDEAS
• One of my ideas is to film the trailer in a
documentary type way following students from our
college who encounter some strange things
happening in a closed cotton mill they go to visit
one day.
• Another is to set my trailer in a grave yard, using
teens again as main characters.
• I want to aim for something more different so using
a weird location and not the boring old woods…
which is so repetitive will be avoided.
4. SOUNDTRACK IDEAS
• I will be using garage band to create my own
score/soundtrack… the score will be eerie.
• Rock music is often used in thrillers and horrors to
create tension and a loud atmosphere, also,
children's lullaby's are used to create a scary and
eerie feel to a trailer as it is the opposite effect-you’d
think it would sound cute and childish but in
reality it sounds very chilling!
5. LOCATION
• My idea for location is an abandoned place
(possibly a closed cotton mill which is in our area…
but I will need to see if I can definitely go in the
building)
• Graveyard
• Basement
• House
