3. Shaun Of The Dead
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfDUv3ZjH2k
•The film ‘‘Shaun Of The Dead’’ is inspirational because we want to create a film based
on zombies, so we can take inspiration from the costumes and locations.
•Also within the trailer freeze frames are used and this inspired us to use this within
our trailer.
•The character types used are inspirational as its a comedy so the main character must
be humerous.
•The locations used are indoors (peoples homes) and outside on the streets, we would
like to use similiar locations to recreate a normal day.
•One convention is over exaggerated violence, as the characters beat the zombies.
4. Piranha 3DD
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XIyJO6vf3c
The film ‘‘Piranha 3DD’’ is inspirational because the location is unusual as
its based in a an aqua park.
Like the film we will be using mainly young characters. Also the main plot
of this film is that the piranha’s are killing everyone which we hope to
recreate in our film but with zombies. Like the film, we would like to
create an enigma of what caused this?
The character types used are average people, we could recreate this as
our plot is based on an average day.
One convention is some woman are sexualized (stripper lifeguards).
5. Bride Of Chucky
• https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGBiwDguDY4
• The film “Bride Of Chucky” is inspirational because of its mise-
en-scene as the props are very good especially the dolls playing
a legit character.
• the locations used are also very inspirational because they film
a scene in what looks like an abandoned building.
• The slicing title at the end is also very inspirational as it its a
different way of allowing the audience to know the genre.
• The lighting used is very inspirational as all of the trailer is
filmed at night or in the dark and only at various peak points
there are flashes which catch out attention.
6. Zombeavers
• https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7onFrBK_hKE
• The film “Zombeavers” is inspirational because of the first shot
which shows the audience the location in which the film is set.
• The titles are inspirational because of the scratching effect and
also the use of the bang each time they appear.
• The point of view from the beaver is also very inspirational
because its a way to show the victims reaction.
• The non-diegetic score music increase as the tension increases
which also makes the trailer more interesting to keep the
audience watching it.
7. Vamp U
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBqI-wwNWKk
Conventions:
• Dark, mysterious, isolated location (Castle)
• MES - Vampire teeth and sinister eyes
• The act of biting and becoming a vampire
• Death and dying (cemetery)
• Over exaggerated violence
• Conventional characters (typically a blonde) is challenged as main
female character is brunette
• Mocking the act of fear by the character’s attitudes
• The score music contradicts the narrative of the film and isn’t
mysterious and fearful but instead, upbeat and cheerful
Inspiration:
• The contrast of the score music/sound effects the narrative
• The use of the MES is quite over the top and comical
• The use of the serif font and the transition of the titles appearing on
the screen (with the sound effects)
• Using red and black to connote the horror genre but challenged with
the pattern
8. Love Bite
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07GfRY7Tzfg
Conventions:
• Remote, dark location (woods, bushes)
• A person in deep fear running away from something
• Chilling non-diegetic score music it cut off to more upbeat score music
• The tone of the voiceover is sarcastic and makes it comical
• Mocking fear by adding a comical situation to something stereotypically
fearful
• Act of biting and person transforming into a vampire
Inspiration:
• Fearful events followed by comical events
• The tone of the voice over
• The fast pace at horrific parts
• Comical events synchronised with upbeat score music
• The challenge on conventional colours, red and black and font
9. Scary Movie
• https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avULSoueDeY
• The film “Scary Movie” is an inspirational film because we are extracting
from the trailer the idea of the paranormal and the main things are based
around the MES in terms of costume and props, also the enigmas of why
this is all happening.
• I liked the editing technique used such as the camera shots in line with the
music. The shaky camera made it effective because it already created a
sense of enigma and probably making the audience question what is
happening and who is doing this?
10. Jaws
• https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1fu_sA7XhE
• The film “Jaws” is effective because the different camera shots such as the
close ups and the two shots allow us to establish the characters and what
may be happening. The narration can create enigmas because it enables
us to think of who is the girl who died and who is the next vulnerable
person.
• We can link certain things to our trailer such as having vulnerable people
who are unaware of the dangers around them. In terms of the setting it is
also effective because it is located outside on a beach where you tend to
find young people.
• The incidental music is quite effective and can be used in our trailer
because it can match with the editing that we may use such as the pace
becoming faster as the tension builds.
