This document discusses a destination-oriented multicast assisted zapping acceleration (DAZA) scheme for IP video delivery. It aims to improve channel zapping time, which is an important quality metric. The DAZA scheme uses time-shifted subchannels to ensure fast zapping within a delay bound while maintaining picture quality. It analyzes the optimal subchannel data rate and addresses a startup effect issue. DAZA implements scalable destination-oriented multicast instead of traditional IP multicast. Simulation results demonstrate that DAZA validates the analysis and improves robustness and messaging overhead in distributed environments.
