10. ICT Lifetime Achiever / Most
Outstanding Achievement Award
• Either “ICT Lifetime Achiever Award” or “Most Outstanding ICT
Achiever Award” would be presented to an individual for the
yeoman services rendered towards the development and shaping
of the Sri Lanka’s ICT environment. The recipient should have
dedicated at least 25 continuous years of the life to the local
industry and need to have a proven record of;
• generating ICT employment in Sri Lanka
• bringing foreign exchange to the country
• taking leadership in reducing the digital divide in the country
• introduced innovative ICT products or services
• taken leadership to ICT Human Resources Development
• contributed to the ICT policy planning, governance, law .etc.
• This recognition is awarded jointly by BCS Chartered Institute for IT
and ICT Agency (ICTA) of Sri Lanka.
11. ICT Entrepreneur of the year
Award
• This Award is presented to a budding entrepreneur for his or her effort for
venturing into the organizational development in an ICT organization
• NOMINEE SHOULD:
• Be an entrepreneur who has provided leadership for an enterprise for at least 2
years and has demonstrated outstanding entrepreneurial qualities in growing
and developing the business
• Own at least 20% of the company’s shares or an endorsement from the Board of
Directors on entrepreneurial contributions to grow the revenue and
employment opportunities in the enterprise
• Be a Sri Lankan Citizen
• NOMINEE’S ENTERPRISE/S SHOULD:
• Have a minimum of 30% Local Equity
• Hold at least 1 year of audited accounts
• Have an annual revenue of less than USD 1M
• This recognition is awarded jointly by BCS Chartered Institute for IT Sri
Lanka Section and Sri Lanka Association of Software & Service
Companies (SLASSCOM).
12. Most Outstanding Public Sector
ICT Achievement Award
• Many Public Sector Organizations have been able to
effectively improve their services to the citizens by
adopting Information Communication Technologies
over the last few years. In the quest to recognize these
organizations, BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT Sri
Lanka Section (BCSSL) in association with ICT Agency
(ICTA) of Sri Lanka, an award will be presented to a
Public Sector Organization for the exceptional effort
rendered towards the introduction, nurturing and
development of ICT environment of their organization.

• This Award is presented to the most innovative
nomination for the development of Applications and
Infrastructure tools.
• Product Definition:
• Any software program that operates hardware, increases
efficiency of systems, measures/monitors systems usage and
performance, provides data access/retrieval, data manipulation
(e.g. sort/merge), data management, data warehousing and
program design/development. It includes all database
management system (DBMS) software; decision-support and
executive information system (EIS) programs; spreadsheet
programs; front-end and back-end CASE tools; and emerging
areas like cooperative processing and/or object management
application development tools.
16. Communication
Category
• This Award is presented to the most innovative
nomination for developing outstanding communications
technologies or for developing ICT solutions that make
creative use of communications technologies.
• Product Definition:
• Any application of software and/or hardware that is related to
the transmission of signs, signals, writing, images, sounds,
voice, video, data, or intelligence of any nature by digital or
analog, electromagnetic or electronic signals through existing
and emerging media (e.g., radio, telephone, television,
facsimile, SMS, MMS, GPRS, Internet, WiFi, WiMax).
17. E-Government and
Services Category
• This Award is presented to the most innovative
nomination for developing ICT solutions that support
electronic government initiatives and service delivery to
the community.
• Product Definition:
• Any application of software and/or hardware that enables
transformation of internal and external government processes
toward customer-centricity, providing service delivery
opportunities to better fulfill the purposes of government to
provide efficiency and effectiveness, as well as fairness and
equitability.
18. E-Inclusion & E- Community
Category
• This Award is presented to the most innovative
nomination for developing ICT solutions that support
initiatives for supporting wellbeing of particular groups
or reduce the digital divide in the community.
• Product Definition:
• Any application software and/or hardware developed to support
a community / society with the aim to promote the rights and
needs of particular groups; or to improve the wellbeing, quality
of life and standard of living of the community with the ultimate
intent to bridge the digital divide.
19. E-Logistics & Supply Chain
Management Category
• This Award is presented to the most innovative
nomination for developing solutions that support the
Logistics & Supply Chain Management.
• Product Definition:
• Any application software and/or hardware that support and
enable the process of planning, implementing, and controlling
the efficient, effective flow and storage of goods, services, and
related information from the point of origin to the point of
consumption in order to meet customers’ requirements.
20. Education & Training
Category
• This Award is presented to the most innovative
nomination for developing ICT solutions for the delivery
of education and training.
• Product Definition:
• Any application of software and/or hardware that promotes a
program or programs to develop, administer, and support the
training, general knowledge, academic, technical, vocational
skills and cultural attainments of individuals. The programs
cover those used in schools, preschool, child care centers,
colleges, universities, teaching and learning institutions,
educational radio and television stations, libraries, museums,
enterprises, etc.
21. Financial Category
• This Award is presented to the most innovative
nomination for developing ICT solutions that support
the Financial sector and various financial related
business processes in an enterprise.
• Product Definition:
• Any application of software and/or hardware that is related to
the process of transferring and managing capital or funds or
monetary related entities within or across the enterprise.
Included are applications for the banking, insurance, stock
exchange, and multi finance industries.
22. General Category
• This Award is presented to the most innovative
nomination for developing ICT solutions that supports
any business processes in an enterprise which would
not come under any of the categories above.
• Product Definition:
• Any application of software and/or hardware to support a range
of functions that are commonly used by an enterprise or
business entity to improve efficiency and productivity. Included
are back office applications, office productivity tools, human
resource information systems, administration tools,
procurement systems, customer relationship management
systems, etc.
23. Healthcare Category
• This Award is presented to the most innovative
nomination for developing ICT solutions for the health /
healthcare sector.
• Product Definition:
• Any application of software and/or hardware that is for the use
of individuals or communities to promote, maintain, monitor, or
restore health. Included are systems for hospitals, clinics,
health resorts, etc.
24. Industrial Applications
Category
• This Award is presented to the most innovative
nomination for developing solutions that support the
industrial sector, including manufacturing processes.
• Product Definition:
• Any application of software and/or hardware that is used by
industrial-type industries to help them increase the process
performance of creating products and services, and to improve
efficiency and productivity. Some examples are Computer Aided
Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM), optimization devices and
system, process effectiveness monitoring tools, industrial
applications for oil and gas, etc.

Category
• This Award is presented to the most innovative
nomination for an outstanding product that has been
developed by a company for its own use.
• Product Definition:
• Any application of software and / or hardware developed by a
company/organization that is implemented ‘in-house’ in the
company/organization for the company/organization’s use. The
software and /or hardware product can be of any nature (e.g.
communications application, financial application etc.).
26. Media & Entertainment
Category
• This Award is presented to the most innovative
nomination for developing ICT solutions for the Media &
Entertainment Industry.
• Product Definition:
• Any application of software and/or hardware that is related to
the process of combining text, sound, pictures, and videos to
create a diversion that holds the attention (entertainment) in the
form of Multimedia, Infotainment, Immersive, and Interactive
software, Games, animation etc. OR Any application software/
hardware that provides management and technical support to
the news & entertainment industry.
27. Research & Development
Category
• This Award is presented to the most outstanding ICT
R&D project.
• Product Definition:
• Any ICT creation arising from the practical application of
scientific, engineering, or management knowledge that results
in new and improved products, processes, or services that fill
market needs. The product must not be commercialized yet.
28. Security Category
• This Award is presented to the most innovative
nomination for developing ICT solutions for the ICT
Industry as well as the Security sector.
• Product Definition:
• Any application of software, hardware or a combination of both
that is related to authentication, encryption, intruder detection,
anti-virus, data and/or system protection and counter security
checking system that is applicable to the information technology
environment as well as other security systems at large .
29. Start-up Category
• This Award is presented to the most innovative
nomination for an outstanding product from a ‘Start-up’
company.
• Product Definition:
• Any application of software and/or hardware developed by a
company/organization that is registered within two (02) years to
the application closing date. The founder and/or developers are
major shareholders of the company. The established company
must not be a subsidiary of a well-established parent company.
The product must be installed / operating at least at one
customer site. The software and /or hardware product can be of
any nature (e.g. communications application, financial
application etc.).
30. Sustainability & Green
IT Category
• This Award is presented to the most innovative
nomination for developing ICT solutions that supports
any business processes in an enterprise which would
enhance the sustainability.
• Product Definition:
• The application of software and / or hardware developed by a company /
organization that provided direct impact on sustainability issues and offers
value on economy, environment and society. The application of any, or a
combination, of software, hardware, processes, products or services which
address sustainability issues inclusive of, but not limited to, climate
change, environmental conservation and impact and/or environmental
initiatives such as life-cycle management, resource management, carbon
emission reduction, carbon credit trading, environmental performance
monitoring or renewable energy management. Sustainability is measuring
metrics based on economic, environmental and social outcomes.
31. Tourism & Hospitality
Category
• This Award is presented to the most innovative
nomination for developing ICT solutions for the support
of the tourism and hospitality industry.
• Product Definition:
• Any application of software and/or hardware for the service
based industries such as transport, food and beverage, tours,
souvenirs, accommodation, health and eco-tourism, culture,
adventure or escape and relaxation.
32. Post Graduate Student
Projects
• This Award is presented to the most innovative ICT
project that is submitted by a student of a tertiary
educational institution who had graduated within 2
years of closing date of Application Submission.
33. Tertiary Student
Projects

• This Award is presented to the most innovative technology
based ICT project that is submitted by a student of a tertiary
educational institution.
• Category: Business
• This Award is presented to the most innovative Business

Facilities & Process
• Judging Venue: Royal College Union Skills Center at
Rajakeeya Mawatha, Colombo 7.
• Each Applicant will be informed the date and time of
judging
• Multimedia Projector and INTERNET Connectivity will
be provided. All other hardware & related equipment
must be brought by the Applicant. Any installation or
settings should be carried out well before the schedule
time.
• Applicant should provide at least one letter from a
customer with regards to successful implementation of
same product
