2. New Youth & Family
Minister
For the past several years, there has been interest
among the membership and within the eldership to
bring another staff member on board to work with
East Main. One of the main areas where a need was
seen was in the area of youth and family ministry.
The eldership is excited to announce that we have
found the person who will fill this role. Beginning
next Sunday, Alex Blackwelder will become a part of
the family at East Main in the capacity of Youth and
Family Minister.
Alex is a recent graduate of Freed Hardeman and
has begun work on a master’s degree. He is engaged
and he and his fiancé’ Cassie are planning to be
married in June.
We have been thorough in the process of finding
the right fit for this position and the congregation at
East Main. Alex will speak to us at the 11:15 hour
next Sunday and following that worship service, we
will have a congregational potluck meal to welcome
Alex and Cassie to East Main.
We would like to express appreciation to Tim
Davis for the leadership he has provided our youth for
the past 2 years. Tim is excited and is committed to
making this a smooth transition. Barry Kennedy also
shares our excitement in bringing a new team member
on board at East Main.
We ask for your prayers for Alex and Cassie as
they begin this new work with our East Main family,
as together we move forward with the mission of
Christ. The elders
Mike Childers, Dennis Hallmark,
Mark Hitt, Bobby Joe Lindley

Sympathy
Our sympathy is extended to Staci Rushing in
the loss of her aunt, Jane Pickett, on Jan. 11.
Funeral services were held Jan. 14 at 11 a.m. at
Tutor Funeral Home in Pontotoc.
Thank You Notes
To the Community Outreach group at East Main,
Your generosity for me & my family was over-
whelming. You people are truly the hands and feet of
Jesus. I will always remember your kindness. Thank
you. Kaye Lyle
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To all my brothers & sisters at East Main,
This will be a little different than I usually do, but I
really need to say some things to you all.
First, to the sweet babies & young children, Meredith
Hitt, Hattie Sheffield, Avery Gilliland, Scarlett Smith,
Eden Davis, the list goes on. They have all told me they
have prayed for me every day. They have sent me cards,
texts & phone calls. All from these sweet babies. I want
to tell them that God answers our prayers & they can
believe this because of me and how good I’m doing.
To those of you who are “my age” (maybe a little
younger! Ha!), I owe you my life. Your prayers, texts,
visits, phone calls, have kept me lifted up to God who is
my Savior. I’ll not say names. I’ll just say “everyone.”
To those who are absolutely young, Ms. Maggie
Simineau, Ms. Ginny Berryhill, Ms. Patsy, Ms. Betty
Beard & Long & Davis, Ms. Twinette, Ms. Sarah Smith,
Mr. & Mrs. Simmons, Mr. & Mrs. Hallmark, Pat Putt,
Mr. & Mrs. Parker, Ms. Billie, Ms. Janie McCaskill, Mr.
& Mrs. Martin, Mr. & Mrs. Kingsley, Mr. Steve Kelly,
Mr. & Mrs. Johnson, Mr. Perry & Mrs. Linda, Ms.
Dolline, Mr. & Mrs. Geno, Ms. Wanda, Mr. & Mrs.
Bates, again the list is too much. The list just goes on &
on. Please forgive me if you weren’t mentioned. I have
received hundreds of cards & phone calls from you. So
many meals, money, gift cards, etc. You are all on my
mind & in my prayers. I will NEVER forget you & I
know that God is surely with us. There is a song that
says, “Surely the Spirit of the Lord is in this place.”
Well, I know that the congregation at East Main is a
sweet savor to our Lord.
Please continue to pray for me and my family. And
let me add, I have a wonderful family. The most
amazing parents in the world. My sister Leigh has been
a rock for me. They are strong in the faith & they
constantly help keep me looking upward. Many of you
know my sister Beth. After all of this, seeing how
amazing you all have been to me and my family, and
even though her opinion of the church has been very
shameful, and after so many have tried to sway her back
to church, she said to me last week, “After all they have
done for you & our family, any bitter feelings I had for
those at East Main are gone. I just have them no more.”
Please pray for my family as they are struggling. This
has been such a hard time for all of us, not just me &
Shaun. Everyone is seriously struggling and needs
constant prayers. I love you all so much.
