SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Dining Room Manager or Host, the Server is to courteously
and professionally serve all residents and their guests meals in the dining rooms.
Maintains a neat and orderly work area and informs their Supervisor of food needs and
resident questions and concerns that they are unable to answer. Sets up, serves and
'breaks down special functions. Is a key person in public relations for the community due
to the direct contact with the customer.
Essential Functions
This summarizes the essential duties and responsibilities regularly performed and
assigned to this position.
Is in proper uniform, clocked in and ready to work by scheduled time.
Attends production meetings before each meal is served.
Is courteous, knowledgeable of menu, and professional at all times when serving a
customer.
Keeps work stations as neat and orderly as possible during service.
Promote and maintain a healthy work environment for all staff regardless of
department.
Performs pre-opening and closing checklist duties as assigned by the
Host/Hostess.
Follows all out-lined Policies and Procedures for the Culinary Services
Department
Alerts a supervisor of any concerns or problems pertaining to the customer.
Cooperates and coordinates work activities with co-workers to ensure a smooth
run department.
Attends in-service trainings and seminars when scheduled.
Attendance must be regular and consistent.
Marginal Functions
Performs other duties as assigned by authorized personnel or as may be required
to meet emergency situations. May be assigned special duties other than what is
indicated on this job description; such as filling in as a host, bus person,
bartender, or dishwasher if needed.
Qualifications
• Must be able to read, write and follow written and verbal directions.
• High School education or GED preferred, but not required.

• Position requires a minimum of one years experience as a server in a restaurant or
d minimum of 6 months service at Brandermill Woods as a server.
• Must be willing to learn the art of serving and having a pleasant personality.
• Must be able to communicate in a positive way with people.
Special Demands
• Must possess and exhibit a strong positive attitude toward customer service and
have a genuine interest in geriatric care and uphold the philosophy of the
community.
• Must be able to maintain a good working relationship with staff, residents, guests
and resident families.
Mental & Physical Requirements
Must be in good physical and mental health
Requires ability to stand and walk short and long distances for extended periods
of time.
Must be able to lift and/or carry objects in excess of 25 pounds.
Requires reaching above, below and at shoulder level
Must be able to bend, stoop, and stretch frequently throughout the day
Moderate to heavy physical effort is needed infrequently
Must be able to lift up to 501b independently
May be exposed to extreme temperatures (freezers and stoves/range burners) for
short periods of time
May be exposed to industrial cleaning chemicals
Must be able to see, hear and communicate with others
Must be able to stand and walk short distances.
Requires bending at knees, twisting from side to side at the waist, and reaching
above, below and at shoulder height
'Must be able to lift and carry lOlbs or more.
The kitchen environment is subject to noise, interruptions and distractions and
requires the ability to concentrate and handle a multitude of tasks.
Job's Normal Work Environment
• Works in clean, well lighted and well-ventilated kitchen and dining area.
• Work environment involves slight physical risks such as cuts from utensils, burns
and falls due to wet floors, quick temperature changes in and out of refrigeration
areas and around steam tables.
Type of Equipment Typically Used in this Job
• This position requires the limited applications of manual dexterity and eye-hand
coordination necessary for the handling of common restaurant items such as trays,
utensils, and dinnerware.

Personal Appearance and Dress Code
• Must wear designated uniform, free of wrinkles and soil. Daily personal
hygiene and use of deodorants are required.
• Must follow detailed departmental dress code outlined in Food Service
orientation packet
Problem Solving Abilities
• Ability to handle routine problems.
• Ability to know when to refer problems to supervisor.
