Dear Judges:
I’m Sarah Dunaway and for my senior project I chose to do a fundraiser. I like to help
people out any way that I can. That’s why I chose to do a fundraiser to benefit those in need. I
chose to donate to the Cancer Foundation of Northeast Georgia. My goals were to just raise any
amount of money I could to help out.
My product is ultimately the money because that’s what will help the foundation out. I
also had shirts and bracelets that I designed and sold to raise the money. This relates to my
research paper because in this project people learned about this foundation and what they were
doing to help others by donating any amount of money or buying the shirts or bracelets. I
overcame the stress to make sure everything was ordered and I had to count every shirt and
check sizes which was very time consuming. The success I achieved was being able to hand out
everyone’s shirts and the money I raised.
My topic related to a career choice because I do want to pursue something that directly
helps others. I have found out that fundraising is a very hard task and I that it is very stressful. I
learned that I do not like the constant pressure of having to make sure everything is done and if
not its all on me. I found that I enjoyed this because I know it is going to benefit others and that
makes it worth it. I would want to pursue this as more a hobby type thing and just participate and
not be the one to design and take orders.
I personally did not like the idea of this whole project but in the end it does make you
think of where you might want to go in life. This project makes you think of a future career and
it helps with learning responsibility.
