Julie Yu introduces herself as a student from Korea who has been in the US for over 7 months. She says she came to get settled before starting her PhD and now feels more confident and courageous. Her ambitions are to become an international professor and patent lawyer to contribute intellectually to society through education. For her class, communication is important as shown through an assignment where she had to get a business card from a stranger. Creativity exercises helped stimulate her thinking beyond her current circumstances. She values making lifelong connections through her studies and classmates.

2. Introduction Hello all, I’m Julie Yu from Korea. I have been here over 7 month as I experienced a lot of things here. As one of the reasons why I came to the U.S. is to get settled down before I start my Ph.d, now I have more confidence and courage to do anything in this country as if here was my home country.

3. I’m very encouraging and supportive person! Also, I have a huge ambition in my future to be an international professor since I’ve always thought that the education is primarily important to everyone. Not only end up being a professor, I want to be a patent lawyer which would allow me to get intellectually challenged and to be a significant contribution to society.

4. Communication In this class, communication is a foundation to get better result. The first assignment to attend a business meeting and get a business card can be in this category since I had to talk with a stranger. Furthermore, working as a team for the assignments means that I need to be cooperative as well as comprehensible to respect the other people’s opinion.

5. Creativity One of the assignments which was to think big and creative have my horizontal expended to think further. Tough I’ve been always dreamer who think the one that I don’t have right now, this practice got me more stimulated. Plus, listening what the other girls are imagining, and planning was also refreshing to gain another angle for my goal.

6. Connection As a part of the sisterhood, I’ve got many ambitious girls. This will be my life long connection to help each other. In addition to that, all lessons that I’ve learned would lead me to make more connections
