4. INTRODUCTION OF THE COMPANY: RRVPNL
The Successor company of R.S.E.B.
Registered office at Vidyut Bhawan, Jyoti Nagar, Jaipur.
Established On 19 July, 2000 by Govt. of Rajasthan under the
provisions of The Rajasthan Power Sector Reforms Act, 1999.
An ISO 9001:2008 certified Company.
Situated in Madar,11 km far from the Ajmer Railway Station.

6. PLCC
Carrier frequency range of 32khz
to 508khz over high voltage
power transmission lines with
suitable line coupling
equipment.
Amplitude modulation single
side band suppressed carrier
transmission to permit longer
range of transmission.
Cost effective for long distance
communication.
Transmission of speech,
facsimile, telegraphy, telemetry
and tele - protection signals is
done through PLCC.

8. COMPONENT DESCRIPTION
Lightning Arrester:
A device connected between line and
earth i.e. In parallel with the over
headline, HV equipments and substation
to be protected.
Safety valve which limits the magnitude of
lightning and switching over voltages at
the substations, HV equipments and
provides a low resistance path for the
surge current to flow to the ground.

9. Insulator:
Provides insulation to the power
conductors from the ground so that
currents from conductors do not flow to
earth through supports.
Connected to the cross arm of
supporting structure and the power
conductor passes through the clamp of
the insulator.
Prevent any leakage current from
conductors to earth.
Wave Traps:
Trap the HF communication signals sent
on the line from the remote substation .
Diverting the information to the telecom
panel in the substation PLCC control
room.

10. Circuit Breaker:
In the operation of a power
system its function is to prevent
or limit damage during faults or
overloads, and to minimize their
effect on the remainder of the
system.
Systems are divided into
protective zones separated by
circuit breakers.
During a fault, the zone which
includes the faulted apparatus is
de-energized and disconnected
from the system.
Used for circuit switching under
normal conditions.

11. Line Matching Unit:
The out-put of PLCC is
connected to the line matching
unit before to the power lines to
achieve the proper impedance
matching in between PLCC
equipment and power line.

transformer/Coupling
capacitors):-
It is connected to the line
matching units and the power
line .
used for blocking the high
voltage entering to the PLCC

12. Battery Charger:
PLCC panel works on rectified AC .
when main supply goes off
uninterrupted power supply is
provided by the battery charger.
Work as like online ups.
Panel is connected to the batteries
and the battery is charged
simultaneously when the supply is
on.
1 panel consume 1.5 ampere of
current.
24 Batteries of 2v serially connected.
Battery backup of 3 days is kept.

Supervisory unit facilitates easy maintenance and

Has crystal band pass filters giving extremely good VF

Employs compressors and expanders to improve noise
performance.

17. ADVANTAGE
Reaching all sites and hence reducing the cost of
constructing separate telephone lines.
Appreciably higher mechanical strength, normally
remain unaffected under the conditions.
Carrier signals suffer much less attenuation

Quick , and easy installation of the system.
Allow excellent quality of signal up to 6 stations.
Maintenance cost is low

Proper care has to be taken from time to time.
Not user friendly.
Noise interference is there
One person is required at a time.
Electricity theft occurs.
If you have money, you have electricity.
Periodic patrolling is important.

Tends to the privatization of the company.
Internet connection is provided through PLCC.
More sub grid stations construction is under process.
More efficient systems are installed .
New techniques are introduced.

Understand the Govt. working system.
It has been exciting and challenging to understood the
fundamental concepts of power transmission and
equipments.
