1. A detail-oriented, motivated, creative, opportunistic undergraduate and hopeful
designer needs a way to gain a competitive advantage and place herself at the top of
the graduate cohort because the design industry is incredibly competitive, and
experience at the undergraduate level is often unpaid.
Ideate #2: Guerrilla pop-up show
The purpose of this prototype is to display the user’s design skills
to a large audience, with limited availability of resources.
Materials used for prototype:
One wooden table
2 step-ladders
A marquee
Sheets of paper, canvases, and pillows to represent the user’s
designs
Use:
I hung up the paper, canvases and pillows on the table and up the
step ladders, to show a different way of representing design –
which of course could be altered to the user's preference, to more
adequately reflect their individual design approach. The designer’s
work pieces are visible to passer-bys and, if she were to do the
pop-up show in a busy pedestrian area such as Bondi markets,
getting people to view her designs would not be difficult.
Feedback:
My user liked the idea of a pop-up show in a busy area such as
Bondi. Being able to showcase her designs appealed to her,
however she suggested she step away from the markets and set
up in a park instead – her designs reflect the outdoors and would
benefit from utilising nature such as trees and bushes

Ideate #2: Guerrilla pop-up show – done differently
The second idea within the Guerrilla idea is instead of waiting for
observers to walk past the pop-up show, to take the designs and
walk around busy streets with them, trying to spark people’s
interests. The idea was we could reach a larger crowd perhaps by
walking in different areas.
Materials used for prototype:
Even less than before: the representations of the designs only
Use:
The idea is to walk the designs around, a bit like a vendor trying to
sell you a flower as you walk past them on the street
Feedback:
Feedback was not as positive as the first prototype – my user
wants to be able to showcase a “space”, and not merely a physical
design. After “testing”, we have decided on the first prototype as
this fulfils my user’s needs much more sufficiently
