Narrowcasting Media Bias
In the past twenty years, the United States media has transformed from a broadcasting to a narrowcasting media. Each method has its unique
differences, with one being the amount of bias from each source. Narrowcasting specifically, can greatly affect the media's ability to influence public
opinion. Broadcasting is media programming that focuses on many genres of television. For instance, on a broadcasting channel, you can watch a
drama, comedy, and news all in the same day. The three broadcasting networks, known as "The Big 3", are ABC, NBC, and CBS. When these
broadcasting channels present news, they want to stay as close to the middle of the political spectrum as possible. The goal of a broadcasting channel
is to appeal to everyone and the more neutral, fact–based information released, the more views "The Big 3" will get, resulting in more money.
However, narrowcasting is media programming that is focused on a particular audience. Examples of narrowcasting networks include C–SPAN, ESPN,
Fox News, and CNN. ESPN stands for Entertainment and Sports Programming Network so they specialize in sports news and cater to the sports
audience. Unlike broadcasting, narrowcasting will not try to appeal to the majority of Americans, so it can lean left or right on political issues and
interject slightly more opinions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As stated above, narrowcasting networks appeal to one type of audience, allowing the networks to add opinions into their reports to keep that one
audience interested. For instance, CNN, also known as Cable News Network, is known for being more liberal whereas Fox News leans more
conservative. This creates bias because if you watch CNN news today, for example, Donald Trump will be portrayed as an evil being. However, Fox
News is known for saying Trump is an outstanding, fantastic president. Depending on the news network you watch and/or read will affect the opinion

Political Election Essay
2016 was one huge political lie. Many people believed the false accusations about President Donald Trump and contestant Hillary Clinton during the
election. The media took advantage of the hype around the competition and increased the debating uproars all around the United States. However,
wasn't the press always like this? Bernard Goetz shot four young black men on an express train in Manhattan on the day of December 22nd, 1984
after two of them approached Goetz asking for five dollars. After the unfortunate event, Goetz disappeared from the scene, as on radios and
newspapers, he is rewarded the title of "Death Wish Shooter", for granting the wish of every citizen in New York who had ever been mugged or
assaulted at a subway station. A... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The media is here to inform people. If they didn't report to the public, then who would? However, the U.S News thinks that many public opinions
change because of the media. First, they believe that people perceive the news the way they want to. With so many news channels to choose from,
people choose the channel that appeals to them. On the other hand, the news channel knows what kind of viewers they have and craft their messages
accordingly. Wouldn't every news channel shape their stories differently? Is that why many arguments on Twitter revolve around the news? Is fake
news not only the way the news channels word things, but also the conclusions people come up with after arguing? Cold–blooded or not, Bernard
Goetz reacted on instinct whilst fighting off Troy Canty's group. Though the media is the source of many injustices, it was only doing what it had to,
thanks to some old tricks. The press influenced many minds, such as Goetz's, but more so, it influenced how everyone else, like the passengers aboard
the train, acted. To avoid a confrontation with the four victims, most of the passengers on the number two express train sat away from them. First of
all, their behavior could have been shaped from hardships in their early lives. Secondly, the security systems at the subway station could have been
maximized to prevent the re–occurring crimes. Lastly, the media stereotypes black men greatly, and people are starting to believe them. Recall that in

News Channels Are Becoming Entertainment Today
Have you wondered how much more difficult it has become to tell the difference between entertainment and news channels on television? After all, the
television channel business, worth Rs18,000 crore in advertisement and subscription fees, is dominated by the entertainment genre. And print, with
Rs14,800 crore in revenue, is still largely about news. This is despite the fact that there are more news channels than those of any other genre. Earlier
this year, in response to a question in Parliament, the minister for information and broadcasting announced that there are 201 news and current affairs
TV channels and 180 non–news and current affairs TV channels uplinked from India. Also waiting in the pipeline are applications of 97 private... Show

of urban India. | Photo: Arunangsu Roy Chowdhury Dantewada:Is the media asking the right questions? We've been witnessing for a while the rollout
of a genre that is best described as news theatre, presented by the Times Group, the country's most successful news brand. In print it takes the form of

Cabinet ministers get their bit parts on it and make obliging pronouncements about trade with Pakistan and such like. Artistes and citizen's groups

Guglielmo Marconi's Impact On Society
Hello, everyone, I'm Jacob Ellis, reporting for WBUC. In the entire scope of broadcasting very many people had a very large impact, but no one
had more of a lasting impact than the father of wireless, Guglielmo Marconi. Marconi created the largest piece in the puzzle that created
broadcasting. Without his invention, our life would be completely different than it is today. We wouldn't have Radios, Televisions, Phones, WiFi,
etc. All of the modern forms of wireless came from Marconi's original form of wireless and were created because of his original invention. His wireless
was mainly used for radio but wasn't strong enough to be broadcasted very far which led people to find ways to better the transmission of wireless
devices, leading them to create new forms of wireless,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though Marconi's invention was used very much for communication, a big part of it was entertainment. Wireless was used for radio at first
but when television was invented people began to see even more and more uses for wireless. Wireless allowed people to get local TV stations using
nothing but a Television and an antenna, allowing almost anyone to own and watch TV. This lead to many television events being seen by millions
of people. An example of this was the Kennedy assassination. Since wireless allowed almost anyone, anywhere to own a tv, millions of Americans
were able to get the news very quickly that Kennedy had been shot and it allowed them to grieve with the rest of the United States. Another way that
wireless affected people was communication. Wireless allowed people to communicate over long distances, so people were able to share information
without wires and telegraph stations, and in places that couldn't have wires. This proved itself as very helpful in the case of the

Assess the Factors Which Led to the Creation of Itv Essay
Assess the factors which led to the creation of ITV in 1954
Commercial Television has been playing big role in our lives for about 60 years already, whether it is the Morning News, Downton Abbey or The
Britain's Got Talent show (Johnson, Turnock, 2005: 1). Commercial television is entertaining, educating and informative and tries to fulfil viewer's
wishes of what they want to watch. British audience has been able to choose what they watch since 1954, when government published the Act of
Television which allowed the creation of the first independent television in the United Kingdom. The creation of ITV broke the BBC's monopoly and
introduced country a new era with free market and diverse television channels (Williams, 2010:151). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, many senior positions in the BBC were still suspicious of the new medium of television (Turnock, 2007:21). Lord Reith summed up the
general attitude of BBC's management to television when he told that 'television will be of no importance in your lifetime or mine' (Williams,
2010:144). General opinion in the BBC was that television would not become as successful as radio. As well as BBC management, government did
not find television being as important as radio. On the contrary to the BBC's management, there were people who saw future in commercial television.
One of those people was Norman Collins who became a director general of Independent Television who left the BBC and started to campaign
commercial television (Crisell, 1997: 78). BBC's broadcasting developing slowly because of the shortage of technical knowledge which gave a reason
for government to legitimize commercial television which would also give jobs many advertisers and television people. Commercial television
campaign was also able to persuade the government that competition would make television better as companies had to give their best to make the
viewer to watch their channel.
Another reason which made commercial lobby successful, was the circumstance that important members of government including the Prime Minister,
Churchill, were not prepared to defend the BBC (Curran, Seaton, 2010:154). After a change in power in late 1951, the conservative party decided to

Such passions are lacking in English language journalism by and large. CNN–IBN believes that the time has come to blend the strengths of Hindi and
English language journalism. English language journalism has its strengths. CNN–IBN wants to combine the advantages of Hindi and English
language journalism. IBN would like to move into the Hindi news space. It is the only way forward, though the Hindi market is an extremely
competitive one. IBN got instant credibility form the co–branding deal with CNN. That the world's largest news network decided to tie–up with a fresh
channel only enhanced its credibility. But ultimately the channel will be judged on day–to–day performance. Ratings will be high if the news channel
is good. The first battle that has to be won is that people have to see CNN–IBN as a serious news channel, which people do. CNN–IBN does not want
too many ads in the beginning. It wants to provide its viewers with lots of news. Eventually, it will have ads as it wants to generate revenues too. A
journalist–driven channel is here to make revenues and CNN–IBN is confident of that. Questions 1. What do you assess is the reason of success of
CNN – IBN inspite of a tough competition from NDTV 24 x 7? What are its main attributes, which can lead to its future success? 2. What in your
opinion should CNN–IBN do to come at number one? Should it diversify into Hindi News channel or not, where competition is more tough. Comment.

Ending the 1940's, fifty television stations were on air and one hundred and twenty four were authorized. Also, the FCC established a four–year freeze

In 1950, the Korean War slowed down the color television progress, the FCC announces mechanical colored systems, and showed a negative response
from stations and the public and there was community antenna television and later in 1952 coaxial cable is installed in large cities, reducing ghosting.
The National System Committee (NTSC) explores color for the television in 1951. In 1952, the FCC lifted the TV freeze it established in 1948.
The 1950's has to be the most uprising period of the television. During that time period, there were live dramatic series that were broadcasted. In 1952
there was a rampant growth in televisions sets and in 1960; ninety percent of homes had TV's. The Public Broadcasting Act of 1967 authorizes the
Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
After the television phenomenon, video recorders for the TV were made. In 1956, videotaping was demonstrated and in 1963, a home VTR cost nine

Cable news stations begin in 1980 to get general news out to the people. In 1981, music videos were on cable and later nourished the television station

Is Voting for Young People? by Martin P. Wattenberg Essay
In chapter one, Wattenberg discusses the declining trends of Americans who regularly read newspapers between the 1960's and present day. This can
be attributed the aging patterns among generations who frequently read newspapers as well as with the use of technology rising. Reading the
newspaper is a habit that either is or is not developed by the time one reaches voting age. With this, newspapers have become an older generation's
primary source of information, however, are still the best source for political matters. Younger generations tend to be more computer literate and have
grown up with television and media more accessible to them than the previous generation. These trends not only reflect in American culture, but in
other countries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In chapter two, Wattenberg discusses television broadcasting and its impact with news networks such as NBC, CBS, and ABC. He quotes a 1972
study by Patterson and McClure in which they believed that although broadcasting allowed for Americans to see the campaign, it did not help teach
voters anything of importance (32). TV news has become increasingly directed towards the elderly, with young people elsewhere or watching
something else when politics are broadcasted (33). He illustrates this point with an example of the types of commercials aired for medications that
while are suited for any age group, they are remedies for maladies or health concerns that older generations experience more than younger ones.
Today, there are multitudes of television channels available for specific topics such as sports and music rather than the general topics the original
major networks broadcasted, making it easier for young people to avoid the political events that once captivated the attention of Americans in previous
generations. One study found that 21% of respondents under 30 years of age learned about the Presidential campaign or candidates from a comedy
show instead of from newscasts (40). Although some find information indirectly through entertainment TV, a 2004 survey proved that 7% of
respondents who followed the campaign closely enjoyed it and were familiar with facts heavily relied on cable news channels as a source of
information, proving that if

formed in 1922 by a group of leading wireless manufactures, the daily broadcasting by the BBC began from Marconi's London Studio on November
14th, this followed the next day by broadcasts from Birmingham and Manchester. During the following few months the BBC organisation was
successfully able to broadcast around the U.K this effectively showed how popular and in demand the BBC became around the U.K and therefore had

To maintain a degree of independence from the state of the governing administration was to appoint a committee of 12 public figures on a five
yearly basis who would, in turn, appoint a director general. The extent to which these committees were composed of 'political appointees' who
could steer the BBC in directions favourable to the government has been a subject of controversy . So has the BBC's real 'independence' in light of
the government's power to set licence fees and therefore apply financial pressure in the event of unfavourable or controversial political coverage.
Under its first director John Reith the BBC was given a mission to bring the 'Best' of British culture to the nation, to enlighten, elevate and 'educate'
wherever possible. The BBC is formally obliged to remain politically impartial especially in times of political conflict. The governors role is to
ensure that the BBC fulfils its obligations as laid down by the law by remaining an impartial and politically correct organisation. The BBC is set up

The ITV is a British broadcasting company that Creates and distributes its own content to the public. The ITV was founded on the 22nd of September
1955. The ITV can be considered commercial television this is because ITV get funding through advertising. The ITV was set up to compete with the
BBC after (1954 television act).
This act sparked the idea for the ITV or The Independent Television Authority. This is because the creators of the ITV wanted to create an alternative
option of broadcasting for the general public and wanted a change from the BBC owning multiple Tv channels and controlling a lot of the media. So
They created the ITV to give viewers a different option to the BBC.
Originally governed by The Independent Broadcasting Authority now known as Ofcom. The ITV is governed by Ofcom with a ten year public
service broadcasting licence. Ofcom regulates Tv, radio and On Demand, plus many other services. This is to protect the public from harmful or

Newsreels During The Second World War
Newsreels, five minute recordings depicting around four stories kept on a reel, were widely produced across Western countries between approximately
1910 and 1967 (Boyer, 2015). In this time, news corporations were founded and developed, and while this brought new possibilities to broadcasting and
documenting information, there were multiple limitations including cumbersome equipment and censorship (Aspects of Britain; Broadcasting, 1993).
This time also saw several important historic events, such as the Great War later known as World War One 1914 to 1918, the Spanish Civil War 1936
to 1939, and World War Two 1939 to 1945 (McKernan, 2000)
The first British newsreel was issued in June 1910; the weekly Pathe's Animated Gazette. By 1912, it would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This suggests that newsreels before the beginning of the Second World War are useless as sources for history, as their information gathering was
mediocre and unreliable.
In the 1960's, audio–visual technology was becoming easier to manoeuvre and access. The Vietnam War, dubbed 'The Living Room War', was the first
war to be recorded and broadcast directly into people's homes (Hallin, unknown), with televisions having been on the rise since the 1950's (Television
in the 1950's, unknown). It is this rise of television that cause the newsreel to become obsolete in 1967 (Schoenherr, 2008).
It appears from this analysis and these sources that newsreels are not a strong, reliable source for history, due to a lack of policies, faked footage,
cumbersome technology and other difficulties. However, this is not to say that newsreels don't reflect values and trends of the time, or that newsreels
are completely useless. Without newsreels and their potentially unethical practices, broadcasting news corporations such as the BBC would not have
developed into the large, global organisations that they are today. And, as with most history sources, newsreels can easily be used as an easily
accessible base before conducting further, cross referencing research, as is often used by

The First Amendment Essay
The First Amendment
The 1st Amendment forbids Congress from enacting laws that would regulate speech or press before publication or punish after publication. At
various times many states passed laws in contradiction to the freedoms guaranteed in the 1st Amendment. However broadcast has always been
considered a special exemption to free speech laws for two reasons. 1) the most important reasons is the scarcity of spectrum and the 2) is the
persuasiveness of the medium. Because radio and TV come into the house, and may be heard or seen by unsupervised children, the government feels a
special responsibility to protect the American people. As Herbert Hoover said to, "doublegaurd them."

Personal attacks occur when, during broadcast on a controversial issue, when someone attacks the honesty, character, or integrity of a person or group.
The rule states that no more than a week after the personal attack. The station must send out the following three things to the person or group attacked:
(1) notification of the date, time, and identification of the broadcast; (2) a tape, script or accurate summary of the attack; and (3) an offer of a

The British Broadcasting Corporation is synonymous with British culture and is one of the most beloved broadcasting corporations in the world
today. Founded in 1922 by Scottish engineer John Reith, the BBC's philosophy has remained the same throughout almost a century. John Reith was
the BBC's general manager when it was created in 1922 and its director general in 1927 when it became a public corporation ("John Reith."). Reith felt
as he had a duty to improve England. He believed that broadcasting should be held to the highest standards and guided by responsibility. He wished for

The BBC took a number of steps to comfort the public. During the war, the BBC's hours increased exponentially along with staff numbers. By 1946,
the BBC staff had more than doubled (Cain 42–43). In mid–1940, the BBC's news readers started identifying themselves so listeners could be certain
they were hearing BBC news. Yorkshireman Wilfred Pickles became a legendary reporter with his distinctive northern accent ("1940s.") Not even
the headquarters of the BBC was spared during the vicious war. On October 15th, 1941, a German bomb hit the Broadcasting House. Seven
people died in the blast. Bruce Belfage, who was reading the nine o'clock news at the time, continued as if nothing had occurred, despite being
covered in grime. ("1940s.") In 1941, the BBC also started its V for Victory campaign. V stood for victory in English, French, and Flemish.
Audience members were asked to write Vs everywhere they could to represent victory for Allied forces. Unfortunately, Germany used the V for
Victory against Britain to represent an ancient German war cry, 'Viktoria'. The BBC campaign was dismantled in 1942, yet still remains iconic in
the war ("1940s."). The BBC served as a ray of hope to many listeners. It united the public in their sorrow for the war and boosted public morale. The

What Is The Positive Impact Of Broadcast Journalism
CNJ 319 Final Exam – Leixi Wang – 746 words
If there is one thing I believe in is that journalism, specifically broadcast journalism, helped greatly in the advancement of communications
technologies and vice versa. With the introduction of radio and television, the hunger for more information and accessing the information quicker
grew tremendously. Maybe not the best time in terms of world peace, but with the drive to spread the information out as fast and as widely as
possible, it did help drive for a better further, a more peaceful future where people received the information first hand and from many different angles.
Even with these technological advancements, it was not always a positive impact on the journalism front, and I will analyze the pros and cons in this
paper.
With the invention of the telegraph, proving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus the television was introduced to the general public at around WWII time, where it slowly took over the radio as the preferred method broadcasting
. With television the benefit of having the image right in front of the viewer brings in more realism to the news, it gives the viewer a better feel of
actually being in the moment. This also changed the way journalism worked, as the journalists came from the guys doing the background work and
writing the scripts to actually being seen on television or heard on radio.
Over–ally technology has brought around more positives than negatives for the journalism industry, growing the audience base to number that could
not have been possible with just newspaper, it also provided easier ways to engage the viewers and listeners as especially in the 19th and early 20th
century there were still many people that could not read. As technology is continuously impacting journalism now and into the future, there's a chance

Aaron Altman's Use Of Mise En Scene In Broadcasting News
"Broadcasting News," used many different elements in the film to convey the theme of the movie. The underlying theme the director is trying to would
be both change and obsession. With the features of mise en scene and editing, the director offered the theme more clearly. The mise–en–scene was used
to visually display the setting, costume, and a support system to help reveal the theme and shape the audience's feelings towards the characters in the
film. Editing was used to help filmmaking capture everything on camera and communicate to the audience how the director intended the film to be.
Editing also revealed the structures of spatial relations and discontinuity with the use of the Montage theory. The director used examples of continuity by

The argument started out as a 180–degree shot, but when Aaron was done talking the director zooms in on Jane's face to show the audience how
exactly her feelings changed after Aaron was done speaking. The last editing example I will provide would be cross–cutting. The cross–cutting cutback
and forth between shots of separate places. For example, the scene where Aaron is getting his chance to be an anchorman but is doing an abysmal job,
and Jane out at an event with Tom during the same moments. In this case, the audience could still understand that the places are supposed to be
separate and parallel to one another.
Broadcasting News strived to use different elements between shots and scenes to reveal the theme. The mise en scene and editing provided allowed the
audience to grasp the emotions, narrative information, and movements of the figures in the frame. The mise en scene allowed the audience to visualize
the distinct themes throughout this film, which was change and obsession. The editing permitted the audience to understand the space that took place
between shots and the story which allowed the viewers to understand the film at another level. Editing also allowed the director to show the audience a
more significant term than just a few hours, days,

Negative Effects Of Television In The 1940's
The development of the television in the 1940's first gave way to a new and direct way to communicate publicity allowing a positive change to happen
but over the years it has started to have a negative impact on presidential elections.
Television at first allowed a new era of public communication which sparked its popularity among the nation. "As Frank Stanton, president of the
Columbia Broadcasting System, put it: 'Not even the sky is the limit.' (Source A)." This quote tells us how television has vastly expanded public
communication and that with it we can achieve so much more beyond our limitations before this invention. The main reason television was considered
to have a positive effect on presidential elections was due to the fact that

There are three different Traffic of operation in VANET
Regular Traffic: In case of regular traffic some nodes may have very few neighbours while some other nodes have many neighbours.
Dense Traffic:Nodes Simply broadcasting the packets leads to many collisions and conflicts in transmission among neighbouring nodes.
Sparse Traffic: The delay that incurs in delivering messages between disconnected vehicles can vary from a few seconds to several minutes.
This paper gives a detailed study about existing broadcasting protocols.
Traffic View
Traffic View, protocol uses a method called aggregation method on the data in the updated dataset. By grouping multiple data packets based on message
timestamp and relative vehicle distance this protocol minimizes bandwidth utilisation Traffic View has a definite structure to disseminate and collect
information about the vehicles on the road.[4]
Advantage: with such a system, a vehicle driver will know the road traffic, which helps the driver handling situations efficiently or finding an correct
route for long distance.
Disadvantage: the cars in the non–aggregation case have only limited visibility to all nodes, and most of the nodes have no information about other
nodes that are at least 500m away.

How To Set Up Your Own FM Radio Station– Licensing And Start Up Issues
There are several ways to set up your own radio station. It depends on how serious you are about it. The single most important thing you should know
before you get started is why would you need to start your own radio station?
Maybe, it 's because you are a DJ or you have a band and want to reach an audience with your songs. Maybe, you have a huge collection of rock music
and want to share it with the world. Maybe you are a member of club and want to make money by broadcasting a certain type of music along with

In New Zealand, there are no ongoing fees to operate this type of station – however you do need to pay nominal annual fees to APRA and RIANZ for
music royalties. You do need to ensure however that your transmission equipment is compliant with Radio Spectrum Management regulations.
Additionally, as is the case with any radio station, all your broadcasts need to comply with the Broadcasting Act. Fundamentally this means your
broadcasts must be in good taste. The advantages that a low power FM radio station have over a commercial station is that is is much less expensive
to set up at the outset, your likelihood of finding a suitable frequency are much higher, and there are far fewer ongoing costs.
When operating a low power FM station, you need to determine who your audience is. If you are broadcasting in an area where there are already a
number of resident commercial stations, you may enjoy more success by broadcasting niche programming that appeals to an audience not currently
served by the full power FM stations. Alternatively for those who are located in a more rural area or town, you then have the opportunity to set your
station up as the local alternative to what is already available. Generally a local station competing against a station being beamed in by satellite from
one of the main centres will attract a great deal of local community support.

News broadcasting primarily aims to provide the public with updates on global, national, regional and local news events. Today, news broadcasting is a

more diverse number of news broadcasting channels than anywhere else in the world, with global franchises such as MSNBC, CNN and Fox News,

What Was The Impact Of Radio Broadcasting In The 1930's
Radio broadcasting left a major social impact on Americans. It delivered news, advertising, and entertainment to the American household. The radio
allowed Americans from across the United States to be up to date on the latest political news, sports, and radio shows. Companies used the radio to
spread their product to the American living room. The radio left the greatest impact on society for the variety of content it contained and how popular it
was. "In 1913, Edwin Armstrong invented a special circuit that made long–range radio transmission of voice and music practical" (American). This
technological advancement made it convenient to use the radio as means of delivering the news. Whether you lived in a rural countryside or in a

Latinos, Asians, and Black are being underrepresented in today's society. It is crucial for Latinos and minorities to take part of the Broadcast
Journalism industry. The birth of Broadcasting began in the 1920s, "The first radio reporters appeared in the 1920s. The networks established their
news organizations in the 1930s and in the 1940s covered global war. During the 1950s, television overtook radio. The 1960s saw profound

minorities are at the bottom of the Broadcast Journalism field, they state "Since 1968, there has been little significant change in the news media
coverage of people of color. Scholars who study race ad television news have found that people of color are often neglected, misrepresented or

the TV network evening news anchors," said S. Robert Lichter, CMPA president. "For three years running, the top five most visible anchors in 1998

Taking A Look At The Big Five TV Channels
In the beginning
Not so long ago there once existed a square looking piece of equipment that ran on old analogue technology that had pride of place amongst the
furniture where all the family would sit ready to watch their favourite programmes that the broadcast stations dictated should be "aired" for public
consumption. Due to lack of choice these companies had an ability to affect viewer's decision processes through specifically defined content with
minimal provision without real time viewer interaction. This activity was a one–way interaction process that was ruled by very few companies that
owned a monopoly amongst themselves obtaining revenue through guaranteed licensing of the viewers and income through advertising where these
companies could by and large predict high viewing figures and ratings due to a lack of alternative sources of broadcasting elsewhere.
These companies had few competitors and within the UK alone there existed the "big 5" channels competing for viewers, rights to hold specific
events, predominantly sporting events and advertisers were confident of knowing that a large proportion of viewers would be watching these events
and would therefore provide a readymade audience that would see their product or service and provide potential new sales within a defined. TV

Taking a Look at Television Broadcasting
In many cases, it is safe to say that television broadcasting has polished the narrow mindedness of an imperative individual to either antagonize a
supreme man running for presidency or be his very back bone in the process of voting. As airing prominent speeches made by powerful political
figures can get one simple idea of justice to more than half the nation as it stands, it can create a strained society in which one will seem to manipulate
the others aspect of just, and in return will call for protests. In the favor of qualifying that television broadcast has been both deleterious and
accommodating to vote percentages, sources A, B, and F help to embellish the main points fabricated in this essay. As of now, in twenty first century,
broadcasting has been very popular and it only seems to give birth to new forms of idea that can be compressed into what the media has to portray.

Women in Sports and Sports Broadcasting Essay
Women in Sports and Sports Broadcasting
Before I conducted this media analysis about women in sports and sport broadcasting, I hypothesized the obvious – that more male sports would be in
the media, and that there would be more male sports broadcasters as well. Through my observations I did find that the sports arena and sports
broadcasting sphere are male dominated. However, I also found that although there are not many stories about women, there has been a steady
progression and magazines like Sports Illustrated are becoming bold enough to highlight women athletes in a magazine that is targeted towards a male
audience. Although women still have a long way to go, they are making some headway into the male–dominated sports arena. ... Show more content on

The only empowering story I found was a feature about the Notre Dame vs. UCLA women?s soccer match?and this only contained a picture and a brief
summary of the game. Most print media sports stories are written by men?even the articles that are about women. This shows that males dominate the
journalism field in general. It is funny that men can be experts on women and women in sport. This might also show that men are interested in
women?s sport, realizing that the women?s sport movement is an important movement and should be given some credit.
On all four of the news broadcasts I watched, men dominated the broadcasting. With the exception of the Merril Lynch Celebrity Ski Classic Cup,
which had two male broadcasters and two female reporters, the broadcasts were either male dominated (with one woman reporter) or only contained
men. I found that sports such as skiing or running exhibit more gender equality than male dominated sports like football, baseball or basketball.
Women have come a long way, and are actually beginning to find a more significant place in sports media. Men are starting to take women more
seriously?both on the field and in the news station. I was ecstatic to read a SI letter to the editor, written by a man that read, ??Maybe we should show
a little respect for the women?s accomplishment? (SI, November 2004)?it gave me hope. Through this analysis, I gained a stronger appreciation for
sports media, and became more optimistic about women

We Must Live Streaming And Broadcasting

Live streaming and broadcasting allow us to see what is happening around the world just as it happens. The way live broadcasting is done now is
completely different than how it was done in previous years. First, only televisions could do live transmission because of the heavy and costly
equipment that was needed but with the boost in social media and technology, anyone can shoot, upload and make the video go viral and reach out to
the people by just using the mobile device. No filters, no editing, just live rolling news or coverage, by everyone for everyone.
The audience gets most of their news from the internet and social media these days. Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter all have introduced the 'Live '

people who went to High School with us. The YouTube channel was called " The Natalie and Chanelle Show", we got up to a million views and we
passed out flyers all over the school to advertise our channel on YouTube. As I grew older I realized that I didn't want to become a Nurse. I wanted to

Narrowcasting Media Bias

  • 1. Narrowcasting Media Bias In the past twenty years, the United States media has transformed from a broadcasting to a narrowcasting media. Each method has its unique differences, with one being the amount of bias from each source. Narrowcasting specifically, can greatly affect the media's ability to influence public opinion. Broadcasting is media programming that focuses on many genres of television. For instance, on a broadcasting channel, you can watch a drama, comedy, and news all in the same day. The three broadcasting networks, known as "The Big 3", are ABC, NBC, and CBS. When these broadcasting channels present news, they want to stay as close to the middle of the political spectrum as possible. The goal of a broadcasting channel is to appeal to everyone and the more neutral, fact–based information released, the more views "The Big 3" will get, resulting in more money. However, narrowcasting is media programming that is focused on a particular audience. Examples of narrowcasting networks include C–SPAN, ESPN, Fox News, and CNN. ESPN stands for Entertainment and Sports Programming Network so they specialize in sports news and cater to the sports audience. Unlike broadcasting, narrowcasting will not try to appeal to the majority of Americans, so it can lean left or right on political issues and interject slightly more opinions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As stated above, narrowcasting networks appeal to one type of audience, allowing the networks to add opinions into their reports to keep that one audience interested. For instance, CNN, also known as Cable News Network, is known for being more liberal whereas Fox News leans more conservative. This creates bias because if you watch CNN news today, for example, Donald Trump will be portrayed as an evil being. However, Fox News is known for saying Trump is an outstanding, fantastic president. Depending on the news network you watch and/or read will affect the opinion of President ... • 2. Political Election Essay 2016 was one huge political lie. Many people believed the false accusations about President Donald Trump and contestant Hillary Clinton during the election. The media took advantage of the hype around the competition and increased the debating uproars all around the United States. However, wasn't the press always like this? Bernard Goetz shot four young black men on an express train in Manhattan on the day of December 22nd, 1984 after two of them approached Goetz asking for five dollars. After the unfortunate event, Goetz disappeared from the scene, as on radios and newspapers, he is rewarded the title of "Death Wish Shooter", for granting the wish of every citizen in New York who had ever been mugged or assaulted at a subway station. A... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The media is here to inform people. If they didn't report to the public, then who would? However, the U.S News thinks that many public opinions change because of the media. First, they believe that people perceive the news the way they want to. With so many news channels to choose from, people choose the channel that appeals to them. On the other hand, the news channel knows what kind of viewers they have and craft their messages accordingly. Wouldn't every news channel shape their stories differently? Is that why many arguments on Twitter revolve around the news? Is fake news not only the way the news channels word things, but also the conclusions people come up with after arguing? Cold–blooded or not, Bernard Goetz reacted on instinct whilst fighting off Troy Canty's group. Though the media is the source of many injustices, it was only doing what it had to, thanks to some old tricks. The press influenced many minds, such as Goetz's, but more so, it influenced how everyone else, like the passengers aboard the train, acted. To avoid a confrontation with the four victims, most of the passengers on the number two express train sat away from them. First of all, their behavior could have been shaped from hardships in their early lives. Secondly, the security systems at the subway station could have been maximized to prevent the re–occurring crimes. Lastly, the media stereotypes black men greatly, and people are starting to believe them. Recall that in the given article, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. News Channels Are Becoming Entertainment Today Have you wondered how much more difficult it has become to tell the difference between entertainment and news channels on television? After all, the television channel business, worth Rs18,000 crore in advertisement and subscription fees, is dominated by the entertainment genre. And print, with Rs14,800 crore in revenue, is still largely about news. This is despite the fact that there are more news channels than those of any other genre. Earlier this year, in response to a question in Parliament, the minister for information and broadcasting announced that there are 201 news and current affairs TV channels and 180 non–news and current affairs TV channels uplinked from India. Also waiting in the pipeline are applications of 97 private... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Still, the intermingling of news and entertainment can only harm the profession formerly known as journalism. When news is entertainment SEVANTI NINAN Most news programmes these days are coldly calculated theatre performances and their popularity says something about the tastes and politics of urban India. | Photo: Arunangsu Roy Chowdhury Dantewada:Is the media asking the right questions? We've been witnessing for a while the rollout of a genre that is best described as news theatre, presented by the Times Group, the country's most successful news brand. In print it takes the form of Aman ki Asha, a manufactured roll–out of neighbourly bonhomie which then generates headlines for both the news outlets of the Group and others. Cabinet ministers get their bit parts on it and make obliging pronouncements about trade with Pakistan and such like. Artistes and citizen's groups are drawn into events, events management becomes the driver of news, Aman ki Asha songs and a Facebook page add to the spin. It is as calculated as it is successful. Here is a news group with its own creative agency called Taproot India. Its job is to think up campaigns that boost the news brand, but does the rest of the country have to play along? • 4. Guglielmo Marconi's Impact On Society Hello, everyone, I'm Jacob Ellis, reporting for WBUC. In the entire scope of broadcasting very many people had a very large impact, but no one had more of a lasting impact than the father of wireless, Guglielmo Marconi. Marconi created the largest piece in the puzzle that created broadcasting. Without his invention, our life would be completely different than it is today. We wouldn't have Radios, Televisions, Phones, WiFi, etc. All of the modern forms of wireless came from Marconi's original form of wireless and were created because of his original invention. His wireless was mainly used for radio but wasn't strong enough to be broadcasted very far which led people to find ways to better the transmission of wireless devices, leading them to create new forms of wireless,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though Marconi's invention was used very much for communication, a big part of it was entertainment. Wireless was used for radio at first but when television was invented people began to see even more and more uses for wireless. Wireless allowed people to get local TV stations using nothing but a Television and an antenna, allowing almost anyone to own and watch TV. This lead to many television events being seen by millions of people. An example of this was the Kennedy assassination. Since wireless allowed almost anyone, anywhere to own a tv, millions of Americans were able to get the news very quickly that Kennedy had been shot and it allowed them to grieve with the rest of the United States. Another way that wireless affected people was communication. Wireless allowed people to communicate over long distances, so people were able to share information without wires and telegraph stations, and in places that couldn't have wires. • 5. Assess the Factors Which Led to the Creation of Itv Essay Assess the factors which led to the creation of ITV in 1954 Commercial Television has been playing big role in our lives for about 60 years already, whether it is the Morning News, Downton Abbey or The Britain's Got Talent show (Johnson, Turnock, 2005: 1). Commercial television is entertaining, educating and informative and tries to fulfil viewer's wishes of what they want to watch. British audience has been able to choose what they watch since 1954, when government published the Act of Television which allowed the creation of the first independent television in the United Kingdom. The creation of ITV broke the BBC's monopoly and introduced country a new era with free market and diverse television channels (Williams, 2010:151). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, many senior positions in the BBC were still suspicious of the new medium of television (Turnock, 2007:21). Lord Reith summed up the general attitude of BBC's management to television when he told that 'television will be of no importance in your lifetime or mine' (Williams, 2010:144). General opinion in the BBC was that television would not become as successful as radio. As well as BBC management, government did not find television being as important as radio. On the contrary to the BBC's management, there were people who saw future in commercial television. One of those people was Norman Collins who became a director general of Independent Television who left the BBC and started to campaign commercial television (Crisell, 1997: 78). BBC's broadcasting developing slowly because of the shortage of technical knowledge which gave a reason for government to legitimize commercial television which would also give jobs many advertisers and television people. Commercial television campaign was also able to persuade the government that competition would make television better as companies had to give their best to make the viewer to watch their channel. Another reason which made commercial lobby successful, was the circumstance that important members of government including the Prime Minister, Churchill, were not prepared to defend the BBC (Curran, Seaton, 2010:154). It is the only way forward, though the Hindi market is an extremely competitive one. IBN got instant credibility form the co–branding deal with CNN. That the world's largest news network decided to tie–up with a fresh channel only enhanced its credibility. But ultimately the channel will be judged on day–to–day performance. Ratings will be high if the news channel is good. The first battle that has to be won is that people have to see CNN–IBN as a serious news channel, which people do. • 8. Is Voting for Young People? by Martin P. Wattenberg Essay In chapter one, Wattenberg discusses the declining trends of Americans who regularly read newspapers between the 1960's and present day. This can be attributed the aging patterns among generations who frequently read newspapers as well as with the use of technology rising. Reading the newspaper is a habit that either is or is not developed by the time one reaches voting age. With this, newspapers have become an older generation's primary source of information, however, are still the best source for political matters. Younger generations tend to be more computer literate and have grown up with television and media more accessible to them than the previous generation. These trends not only reflect in American culture, but in other countries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In chapter two, Wattenberg discusses television broadcasting and its impact with news networks such as NBC, CBS, and ABC. He quotes a 1972 study by Patterson and McClure in which they believed that although broadcasting allowed for Americans to see the campaign, it did not help teach voters anything of importance (32). TV news has become increasingly directed towards the elderly, with young people elsewhere or watching something else when politics are broadcasted (33). He illustrates this point with an example of the types of commercials aired for medications that while are suited for any age group, they are remedies for maladies or health concerns that older generations experience more than younger ones. Today, there are multitudes of television channels available for specific topics such as sports and music rather than the general topics the original major networks broadcasted, making it easier for young people to avoid the political events that once captivated the attention of Americans in previous generations. One study found that 21% of respondents under 30 years of age learned about the Presidential campaign or candidates from a comedy show instead of from newscasts (40). Although some find information indirectly through entertainment TV, a 2004 survey proved that 7% of respondents who followed the campaign closely enjoyed it and were familiar with facts heavily relied on cable news channels as a source of information, proving that if ... To maintain a degree of independence from the state of the governing administration was to appoint a committee of 12 public figures on a five yearly basis who would, in turn, appoint a director general. The extent to which these committees were composed of 'political appointees' who could steer the BBC in directions favourable to the government has been a subject of controversy . So has the BBC's real 'independence' in light of the government's power to set licence fees and therefore apply financial pressure in the event of unfavourable or controversial political coverage. Under its first director John Reith the BBC was given a mission to bring the 'Best' of British culture to the nation, to enlighten, elevate and 'educate' wherever possible. The BBC is formally obliged to remain politically impartial especially in times of political conflict. I had the chance to hear her story of how she became a sports broadcaster. Newsreels During The Second World War Newsreels, five minute recordings depicting around four stories kept on a reel, were widely produced across Western countries between approximately 1910 and 1967 (Boyer, 2015). In this time, news corporations were founded and developed, and while this brought new possibilities to broadcasting and documenting information, there were multiple limitations including cumbersome equipment and censorship (Aspects of Britain; Broadcasting, 1993). This time also saw several important historic events, such as the Great War later known as World War One 1914 to 1918, the Spanish Civil War 1936 to 1939, and World War Two 1939 to 1945 (McKernan, 2000) The first British newsreel was issued in June 1910; the weekly Pathe's Animated Gazette. This suggests that newsreels before the beginning of the Second World War are useless as sources for history, as their information gathering was mediocre and unreliable. In the 1960's, audio–visual technology was becoming easier to manoeuvre and access. The Vietnam War, dubbed 'The Living Room War', was the first war to be recorded and broadcast directly into people's homes (Hallin, unknown), with televisions having been on the rise since the 1950's (Television in the 1950's, unknown). It is this rise of television that cause the newsreel to become obsolete in 1967 (Schoenherr, 2008). It appears from this analysis and these sources that newsreels are not a strong, reliable source for history, due to a lack of policies, faked footage, cumbersome technology and other difficulties. However, this is not to say that newsreels don't reflect values and trends of the time, or that newsreels are completely useless. Without newsreels and their potentially unethical practices, broadcasting news corporations such as the BBC would not have developed into the large, global organisations that they are today. And, as with most history sources, newsreels can easily be used as an easily accessible base before conducting further, cross referencing research, as is often used by ... In the year 1998, whites were on top of the hierarchy triangle, "Neither women nor minorities have broken into the top ranks of the TV network evening news anchors," said S. Robert Lichter, CMPA president. "For three years running, the top five most visible anchors in 1998 were white males, as were 15 of the 20 most visible reporters on the network evening news" (P.3). By 2002, the number of journalists decreased, "On balance, then, we estimate nearly 6,000 fewer full–time journalists working for traditional mainstream U.S. news media in 2002 as compared with 1992" (Klein & Naccarato ... Taking A Look At The Big Five TV Channels In the beginning Not so long ago there once existed a square looking piece of equipment that ran on old analogue technology that had pride of place amongst the furniture where all the family would sit ready to watch their favourite programmes that the broadcast stations dictated should be "aired" for public consumption. Due to lack of choice these companies had an ability to affect viewer's decision processes through specifically defined content with minimal provision without real time viewer interaction. This activity was a one–way interaction process that was ruled by very few companies that owned a monopoly amongst themselves obtaining revenue through guaranteed licensing of the viewers and income through advertising where these companies could by and large predict high viewing figures and ratings due to a lack of alternative sources of broadcasting elsewhere. These companies had few competitors and within the UK alone there existed the "big 5" channels competing for viewers, rights to hold specific events, predominantly sporting events and advertisers were confident of knowing that a large proportion of viewers would be watching these events and would therefore provide a readymade audience that would see their product or service and provide potential new sales within a defined. • 37. Taking a Look at Television Broadcasting In many cases, it is safe to say that television broadcasting has polished the narrow mindedness of an imperative individual to either antagonize a supreme man running for presidency or be his very back bone in the process of voting. As airing prominent speeches made by powerful political figures can get one simple idea of justice to more than half the nation as it stands, it can create a strained society in which one will seem to manipulate the others aspect of just, and in return will call for protests. In the favor of qualifying that television broadcast has been both deleterious and accommodating to vote percentages, sources A, B, and F help to embellish the main points fabricated in this essay. As of now, in twenty first century, broadcasting has been very popular and it only seems to give birth to new forms of idea that can be compressed into what the media has to portray. Media, even in a history not so far away from our past have engendered the idea of setting powerful people to defend why they should be elected as president. Broadcasting, even in our not–so–long ago history has took the initiative to display one man sitting in office to half the nation "The advent of television in the late 1940's gave rise to the belief that a new era was opening in public communication...its wide geographic distribution and impact, provides a new, direct, and sensitive link between Washington and the people" (Source A). • 40. Women in Sports and Sports Broadcasting Essay Women in Sports and Sports Broadcasting Before I conducted this media analysis about women in sports and sport broadcasting, I hypothesized the obvious – that more male sports would be in the media, and that there would be more male sports broadcasters as well. Through my observations I did find that the sports arena and sports broadcasting sphere are male dominated. However, I also found that although there are not many stories about women, there has been a steady progression and magazines like Sports Illustrated are becoming bold enough to highlight women athletes in a magazine that is targeted towards a male audience. Although women still have a long way to go, they are making some headway into the male–dominated sports arena. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only empowering story I found was a feature about the Notre Dame vs. UCLA women?s soccer match?and this only contained a picture and a brief summary of the game. Most print media sports stories are written by men?even the articles that are about women. This shows that males dominate the journalism field in general. It is funny that men can be experts on women and women in sport. This might also show that men are interested in women?s sport, realizing that the women?s sport movement is an important movement and should be given some credit. On all four of the news broadcasts I watched, men dominated the broadcasting. With the exception of the Merril Lynch Celebrity Ski Classic Cup, which had two male broadcasters and two female reporters, the broadcasts were either male dominated (with one woman reporter) or only contained men. I found that sports such as skiing or running exhibit more gender equality than male dominated sports like football, baseball or basketball. Women have come a long way, and are actually beginning to find a more significant place in sports media. Men are starting to take women more seriously?both on the field and in the news station. I was ecstatic to read a SI letter to the editor, written by a man that read, ??Maybe we should show a little respect for the women?s accomplishment? (SI, November 2004)?it gave me hope. Through this analysis, I gained a stronger appreciation for sports media, and became more optimistic about women ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The way live broadcasting is done now is completely different than how it was done in previous years. First, only televisions could do live transmission because of the heavy and costly equipment that was needed but with the boost in social media and technology, anyone can shoot, upload and make the video go viral and reach out to the people by just using the mobile device. No filters, no editing, just live rolling news or coverage, by everyone for everyone. The audience gets most of their news from the internet and social media these days. Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter all have introduced the 'Live ' feature. World Wide Worx MD, Arthur Goldstuck said, "Visual media is coming to dominate mobile usage, with both image –based and video–based content accelerating in take–up, and becoming the preferred medium for content, especially among younger users. We will see many more innovations in how content is delivered to or from phones in the coming years, as it will be seen as an opportunity for differentiation in an environment where the physical form factor provides ever–decreasing opportunities for doing so. • 42. Personal Narrative-I Want To Become A Nurse Introduction When I was younger I always knew that one day I would attend college. When I was younger my parents always told me that I would attend college. Nursing was my first choice to major in, there was only one problem, (I wasn't so sure if it was me that actually wanted to major in Nursing, or if it was my parents' decision). When I was younger I was always very energetic and was told I had a "bubbly" personality. My friend Chanelle and I decided to have a YouTube channel. We would just do random things, and talk about our High School days, and give shout outs to people who went to High School with us. The YouTube channel was called " The Natalie and Chanelle Show", we got up to a million views and we passed out flyers all over the school to advertise our channel on YouTube. As I grew older I realized that I didn't want to become a Nurse. I wanted to major in Broadcasting Journalism, and use my voice to communicate with other people. As I grew older I realized there isn't many Latinas who anchor for the local news' Radio stations. According to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
