manager (lecturer/faculty, a
department) no financial
expenses. Moodle can be
implemented in teaching full-
time and Open University degree
courses as well as in offering
continuing education, and as
suitable environment for
projects and workshops.

design is creating a course consistent with
the organization’s learning objectives. Often
courses are built around fuzzy objectives
where the expected outcome isn’t quite
clear. Another issue is that the course
doesn’t end up meeting the objectives.

•Awareness: Awareness of the knowledge
available. The provider is encouraged to
make use of directories, maps, corporate
yellow pages, etc.
•Access: Access to the knowledge.

• Completeness: Access to both
centrally managed and self-
published knowledge. The
former is often more scrutinized
but takes longer to publish and
is not as hands-on (and
potentially relevant). Self-
published information on the
other hand runs the risk of not
being as reliable.

services for sharing (and even
creating) slide-based
presentations. Slideshare.net is
one of the first and most mature
and like Zoho and the others
allows you to import/upload your
PowerPoint (or Keynote)
presentations to be converted to
their own sharing format.

• Distance learning involves
interaction at a distance
between instructor and learners,
and enables timely instructor
reaction to learners. Simply
posting or broadcasting learning
materials to learners is not
distance learning. Instructors
must be involved in receiving
feedback from learners.
