At the start of the music video for around the first 1:30 seconds there's a short story which introduces us to the song and music video.
What we get from the story is the singer (Jennifer Lopez) is a news reporter which decided to stand against men for women rights.
Straight after that we see a shot of her cleaning the kitchen followed by the first line of the sentence. Straight away from this we
understand what type of women rights she is trying to rise.
The music begins with I ain't cooking all day (I ain't your mama!) which follows by a shot in the music video of her presenting food to
her husband, while he is sitting down watching TV. As for the second sentence of the first verse it says I ain't gon' do your laundry (I
ain't your mama!) which is supported by a screen shot of her ironing his clothes, as through the screen shot above. Then towards the
end of first verse we see how she changes. As you can see from these two screen shots first it displays her working and cleaning the
kitchen and then towards the end of the verse she stops and sits down. This gives use and idea about what the next few sense will follow with.
This first introduces the audience to the topic of the song. She represents how women used to be a few
years ago, as having lower rights then men, they cook and clean for their husband. This is shown through
the mise-en-scene of the clip we see her dressed in old clothing and the locations and design of the
house. It is also supported by her lyrics as I have mentioned above. At the start of verse all the shots we
see above go against what she is saying, however towards the end we start to see a change. She begins
to do what the lyrics say. For example, she stops cleaning. All these ideas are reflected through the
performance of the artist as well as the lip-syncing, allowing the message to be emphasised even further.
Clearly through this song and the shots we see that she does not agree with women working and at
home and doing what their men want.
This music video goes with the theory ‘archaeology’ by Michel Foucault. Archaeology is about looking at
history as a way of understanding the process that have led what we are today, and trough this music
video this theory goes very well with it as we see women being in the kitchen, cleaning and there for
men's pleasure. It also kind of relates women to being objectified, as they are only their to please men
and do what they wish.

Jennifer singing her song as if she is speaking to her husband, however it almost
sounds like it is directed at the audience, making them more engaged with the song
“Wake up, rise and shine, ah-yeah-yeah-yeah, Let's get to work on time, ah-yeah-
yeah-yeah” this shows to the audience that he is lazy and isn’t bothered to do
anything. She is taking care of everything while he is playing, supported by the
sentence “No more playing video games, ah-yeah-yeah-yeah”. This is also supported
through the scenes which we say as she singings the song. For the first sentence she
makes milkshake as this represents morning and something you would drink in the
morning to fresh you up. This emphasis the fact that she does everything, while he
relaxes. As for the next sentence we see her (Jennifer Lopez) on TV miming the lyrics.
This is effective not does it only engage the audience more towards the sense but
allows the viewer to really understand the lyrics through the image as well as the
lyrics.
For the next sentence for the second verse “No more playing video games, ah-yeah-yeah-yeah” here it shows that he is very childish,
supporting the idea of him not doing anything and she does all the hard work. This is also further supported at it changed from on sense
to another while she lip-syncs that one sentence. However, through these two sense we see her working and cleaning the house, which
makes the audience understand and remember how hard she works while he plays.
As for the last sentence “Things are about to change, around hear, around hear...” we see the same thing repeated in terms of sense
she lip-syncs the lyrics while the sense swaps from one sense to another. First sense is her cooking then it instantly changes to her
working. Through this as I have mentioned above it shows the audience how hard working she is. It allows the audience to see and
compare the difference between the two characters. In addition, through her gesture we see her emphasising the words even more. This
allows the audience to really engage and understand the words and see how there's a huge link with the lyrics and video clip.
MUISC LYRICS
We used to be crazy in love
Can we go back to how it was?
When did you get too comfortable?
Cause I'm too good for that, I'm too good for
that
Just remember that, hey
I ain't cooking all day, I ain't your mama
I ain't gon' do your laundry, I ain't your
mama
I ain't your mama, boy, I ain't your mama
When you're going get your act together?
I ain't your mama
No, I ain't your mama
No, I ain't your mama, no
The third verse we are introduced to it by her lip-syncing “We used to be crazy in love, Can we go back to how it was?” and we see a shot of her
day dreaming and trying to remember how crazy in love they used to be as said through the lyrics. As I have mentioned before this really allows the
audience to understand and engage with the song. After this it instantly changes to a sense where she is sexually touching him which reinforces the
idea of them being in love. Through these two sentences in indicates to the audience that he has changed and used to be a better man.
After the third verse is completed it then it moves on to the curse again. At the start of the video we saw her going against everything she was
saying. For example, “I ain't cooking all day, I ain't your mama” it actually portrays her cooking and presenting the food to her husband. However,
now everything has changed and instead as she says this sentence she throws the food on him. This indicates she has decided to change as she
mentions it in the second verse. This is also reinforced in the next sense as she stops working and throws the water at him. All this shows to the audience how women rights have changed
throughout the years in a short music video. This is because in the past women would usually stay at home clean and cook all day. However, now this has changed, which is shown through the
video and the lyrics relating it to now. Not only that, but by her repeating “I ain’t your mama” also shows that he still acts like a child while his mother does everything for him, and she isn't
going to do act like she is his mother anymore.
There is also a sense where she is being objectified, which supports what I have mentioned in the first slide. As the man looks at her in a sexual way. However, towards the end we see her
dancing happily and her gestures show us she is not having it anymore as she lip-syncs repeatedly “No, I ain't your mama”.
MUISC LYRICS
Lucky to have these curves, ah-yeah-yeah-yeah
Stop getting on my nerves, ah-yeah-yeah-yeah
You're still tryna ride this train? Ah-yeah-yeah-
yeah
But something's gotta change, ah-yeah-yeah-yeah
I ain't gon' be cooking all day, I ain't your mama
(I ain't your mama, no)
I ain't gon' do your laundry, I ain't your mama
(I ain't your mama, hey)
I ain't your mama, boy, I ain't your mama
When you're gon' get your act together?
I ain't your mama (I ain't your mama)
No, I ain't your mama
No, I ain't your mama, no
I ain't your mama, no
As soon as the next verse begans which starts with the
sentence “Lucky to have these curves, ah-yeah-yeah-
yeah” it suggests that men take things for granted and do
not appreciate anything. This reinforced with a shot
showing women's curves and hers being the best
compared to the rest of the women. This is effective as it
makes the audience understand what she is saying even
more and compare the difference themselves. We also
see her change and stand up for her self while she lip-
syncs “Stop getting on my nerves, ah-yeah-yeah-yeah”
this shows that men are annoying as she says through
her lyrics. As this plays it displays her going against what
he wants and braking all the drinks.
Finally, towards the end of the music video the course
plays again, while we see all the women uniting together.
This suggests where women have gained the right they
needed and not having to follow what men say.
LYRIC ANALYSIS 2 – SEE YOU AGAIN
It's been a long day without you, my friend
And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
We've come a long way from where we began
Oh, I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
When I see you again
Damn, who knew?
All the planes we flew
Good things we've been through
That I'll be standing right here talking to you
'Bout another path
I know we loved to hit the road and laugh
But something told me that it wouldn't last
Had to switch up
Look at things different, see the bigger picture
Those were the days
Hard work forever pays
Now I see you in a better place (see you in a better place)
Uh
How can we not talk about family when family's all that we
got?
Everything I went through you were standing there by my side
And now you gon' be with me for the last ride
It's been a long day without you, my friend
And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
We've come a long way from where we began
Oh, I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
When I see you again
(Aah oh, aah oh
Wooooh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh)
Yeah
First you both go out your way
And the vibe is feeling strong
And what's small turn to a friendship
A friendship turn to a bond
And that bond will never be broken
The love will never get lost
And when brotherhood come first
Then the line will never be crossed
Established it on our own
When that line had to be drawn
And that line is what we reach
So remember me when I'm gone
How can we not talk about family when family's all that we got?
Everything I went through you were standing there by my side
And now you gon' be with me for the last ride
So let the light guide your way, yeah
Hold every memory as you go
And every road you take, will always lead you home, home
It's been a long day without you, my friend
And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
We've come a long way from where we began
Oh, I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
When I see you again
Aah oh, aah oh
Wooooh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Yeah
When I see you again
See you again
When I see you again
Aah oh, aah oh
Wooooh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
"See You Again" is a song recorded by American
rapper Wiz Khalifa, featuring American singer Charlie
Puth. The track was commissioned for
the soundtrack of the 2015 action film Furious 7 as a
tribute to the late Paul Walker, who died in a single-
vehicle accident on November 30, 2013 in Valencia,
California. The artists co-wrote the song with its co-
producers, DJ Frank E and Andrew Cedar, with
additional production from Puth and mixing provided
by Manny Marroquin. "See You Again" was released on
March 10, 2015, as the soundtrack's lead single in the
United States.
LYRICS MUSIC
It's been a long day without you, my friend
And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
We've come a long way from where we began
Oh, I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
When I see you again
The song is introduced by the chorus, I believe this section is the most effective part of the song due to the
message behind it. Charlie Puthh wrote this song directed mainly to the actor Paul Walker to tribute him to his
sudden death which left a lot scars on his close friends, family and co-workers such as Vin Diesel. The song and
the chorus is introduced in a very emotional sentence ‘It's been a long day without you, my friend’ which to
the audience it shows them the pain Paul Walker’s death has left in the hearts of his “Fast family” members.
As the chorus is being specifically addressed to Paul Walker’s remembrance the next line came from what Vin
Diesel’s last message was to Pual walker. This is because he told him ‘And I'll tell you all about it when I see
you again’. This allows the audience to feel for Vin Diesel. Not only that but through this line that Charlie Puth
added means that Vin Diesel is looking forward to seeing Paul Walker in heaven, where he would tell him all
about what happened after his death. Following this , the chorus mentions ‘We've come a long way from
where we began’ which reinforces the journey all of the stage characters had during Fast and Furious series.
The series have brought them together as a ‘Fast Family’ by which they became very close to each other in
personal life off stage, and then it just repeats the second line again to reinforce the idea of Vin Diesel wanting
to see him again. Overall I believe that the chorus of this song is what garbs the listeners attention the most,
due to the direct focus on Paul Walker himself and his friends. His death had a large effect on the whole crew
by which the song was considered as a dirbute to him. Due to this the chorus seems to be very good
introduced to the song as it sets a specific mindest in the readers head as it is quite slow paced and emotional.

For the first section if the first verse by Miz Khalifa. It portrays Vin Diesel’s second thought about his long
lost friends. It begins with “Damn, who knew” this use of informal language makes the verse seem as if its
targeted at us; making it seem as we are having a conversation with Vin himself. This is effective as it grabs
the audience attention and allows them to engage with the song even more. It also allows all our thoughts
to contributed within the song as no one would have ever accepted this sudden tragic death. “All the
planes we flew, Good things we've been through” I my opinion this underlines the time Paul Walker and
Vin Diesel spent together, by there travelling to different places during the filming of the fast and furious
movie. In addition, as this places we see various shots which include memorise of them together.
As for the next line of the first verse we can see Miz Khalifa’s mind set converting, as now the lyrics we
hear give a feeling of sadness, allowing the audience to feel how Vin Diesel is feeling. These lyrics also
refer to Vin Diesel remembering how they used to together, however he has now realised that their
journey has ended. Paul and Vin’s life's were thrilling with fast cars and money. However, they both know
all goof things come to and end, as this is reinforced within the lyrics “But something told me that it
wouldn't last”. As to end the first verse it is finished with the line “Now I see you in a better place (see
you in a better place” meaning that after all these good days and hard work Vin Diesel sees him going off
to better place which is heaven. This allows this audience to Paul Walker’s personality who do not know
him personal. His personality is portrayed as a great and loving person and for that reason he is now in
heaven.
MUSIC LYRICS- REFINE
How can we not talk about family when
family's all that we got?
Everything I went through you were standing
there by my side
And now you gon' be with me for the last ride
MUSIC LYRICS- 2ND VERSE
First you both go out your way
And the vibe is feeling strong
And what's small turn to a friendship
A friendship turn to a bond
And that bond will never be broken
The love will never get lost
And when brotherhood come first
Then the line will never be crossed
Established it on our own
When that line had to be drawn
And that line is what we reach
So remember me when I'm gone
Referring to the famous movie quote by Vin Diesel who says “I don’t have friends. I got family” I believe that this
eas the biggest influence for this refrain. The refrain talks about how important family is in our lives, especially
the ‘fast family’ which no helps Paul Walkers family to stay strong, supporting the. The last two lines of the
refrain which is “Everything I went through you were standing there by my side, And now you gon' be with me
for the last ride” they reflect Vin Diesels and Paul Walkers experience which they went through together such as
their first children being born and the support they had for each other. However this has come to an end with
their last movie being produced together, which could be considered as their “last ride”. This interlinks with
Ander Goodwin’s theory of ‘intertextual reference’. This is because at the ending of the song we see that Vin and
Paul drive away from each other into the distance with both of them going different directions, reflecting Paul’s
death and him being in a “better place”.
The second verse which is performed by Wiz Khalifa is seen from Paul Walker’s perspective. Paul Walker has been within
the same crew and acting for the same movie for about 14 years. As first they were all complete stranger however now
they have developed a strong bond and became family not just friends. Not only that, but throughout the years they got
used to each other and to the point that they started to treat each other like siblings, creating a ‘fast family’. With Pauls
‘fast family’ will never forgot what he did for him, his personality and actions he has taken during his life have caused him
to never be forgotten, which is reinforced in the lyrics by saying “Them love will never get lost”.
As for the second part of the second verse continues to enable Pauls and Vin’s friendship, but also
their relationship towards the rest of Fats and Furious crew. “And when brotherhood come first” the
word “brotherhood” give the audience an idea of how the crew has coped together, especially men
which treat each other as brothers. Due to this we gain a very positive connotation of how ophitic
they were towards each other. Their “And that bond will never be broken” “bond” has been kept
very strong throughout the years until the figurative finish line, in the form of Paul Walkers death.
I found this task very helpful as it showed me how important the lyrics are and how it can
change the concept or narrative of a music video. Not only that but also represents how
much words within the lyrics can change the visualisation. In addition, I understood how
important the mise-en- cene, props and location are to emphasis the lyrics further.
Over all, the lyrics analysis allowed me to understand how important it is to understand the
text you are willing to show. Both music videos successfully showed me how to combine the
narrative and performance together, producing a hybrid but also how to make it go well with
the lyrics. In addition, the artist use, props, mise-en-scene and body language full of gesture
to reflect the symbolism and meaning, gave it more natural and engaging feeling for the
audience, enabling the visualisation to become much stronger and more powerful. Over all, I
believe both of the music videos have a powerful message to pass on to the audience and
make them understand the music video due to the use of props, mise-en-scene and locations,
all this made everything to be understood more and emphasised.

However, through these two sense we see her working and cleaning the house, which makes the audience understand and remember how hard she works while he plays. As for the last sentence “Things are about to change, around hear, around hear...” we see the same thing repeated in terms of sense she lip-syncs the lyrics while the sense swaps from one sense to another. First sense is her cooking then it instantly changes to her working. Through this as I have mentioned above it shows the audience how hard working she is. It allows the audience to see and compare the difference between the two characters. In addition, through her gesture we see her emphasising the words even more. This allows the audience to really engage and understand the words and see how there's a huge link with the lyrics and video clip.

MUISC LYRICS We usedto be crazy in love Can we go back to how it was? When did you get too comfortable? Cause I'm too good for that, I'm too good for that Just remember that, hey I ain't cooking all day, I ain't your mama I ain't gon' do your laundry, I ain't your mama I ain't your mama, boy, I ain't your mama When you're going get your act together? I ain't your mama No, I ain't your mama No, I ain't your mama, no The third verse we are introduced to it by her lip-syncing “We used to be crazy in love, Can we go back to how it was?” and we see a shot of her day dreaming and trying to remember how crazy in love they used to be as said through the lyrics. As I have mentioned before this really allows the audience to understand and engage with the song. After this it instantly changes to a sense where she is sexually touching him which reinforces the idea of them being in love. Through these two sentences in indicates to the audience that he has changed and used to be a better man. After the third verse is completed it then it moves on to the curse again. At the start of the video we saw her going against everything she was saying. For example, “I ain't cooking all day, I ain't your mama” it actually portrays her cooking and presenting the food to her husband. However, now everything has changed and instead as she says this sentence she throws the food on him. This indicates she has decided to change as she mentions it in the second verse. This is also reinforced in the next sense as she stops working and throws the water at him. All this shows to the audience how women rights have changed throughout the years in a short music video. This is because in the past women would usually stay at home clean and cook all day. However, now this has changed, which is shown through the video and the lyrics relating it to now. Not only that, but by her repeating “I ain’t your mama” also shows that he still acts like a child while his mother does everything for him, and she isn't going to do act like she is his mother anymore. There is also a sense where she is being objectified, which supports what I have mentioned in the first slide. As the man looks at her in a sexual way. However, towards the end we see her dancing happily and her gestures show us she is not having it anymore as she lip-syncs repeatedly “No, I ain't your mama”.

MUISC LYRICS Lucky tohave these curves, ah-yeah-yeah-yeah Stop getting on my nerves, ah-yeah-yeah-yeah You're still tryna ride this train? Ah-yeah-yeah- yeah But something's gotta change, ah-yeah-yeah-yeah I ain't gon' be cooking all day, I ain't your mama (I ain't your mama, no) I ain't gon' do your laundry, I ain't your mama (I ain't your mama, hey) I ain't your mama, boy, I ain't your mama When you're gon' get your act together? I ain't your mama (I ain't your mama) No, I ain't your mama No, I ain't your mama, no I ain't your mama, no As soon as the next verse begans which starts with the sentence “Lucky to have these curves, ah-yeah-yeah- yeah” it suggests that men take things for granted and do not appreciate anything. This reinforced with a shot showing women's curves and hers being the best compared to the rest of the women. This is effective as it makes the audience understand what she is saying even more and compare the difference themselves. We also see her change and stand up for her self while she lip- syncs “Stop getting on my nerves, ah-yeah-yeah-yeah” this shows that men are annoying as she says through her lyrics. As this plays it displays her going against what he wants and braking all the drinks. Finally, towards the end of the music video the course plays again, while we see all the women uniting together. This suggests where women have gained the right they needed and not having to follow what men say.

The track was commissioned for the soundtrack of the 2015 action film Furious 7 as a tribute to the late Paul Walker, who died in a single- vehicle accident on November 30, 2013 in Valencia, California. LYRICS MUSIC It's beena long day without you, my friend And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again We've come a long way from where we began Oh, I'll tell you all about it when I see you again When I see you again The song is introduced by the chorus, I believe this section is the most effective part of the song due to the message behind it. Charlie Puthh wrote this song directed mainly to the actor Paul Walker to tribute him to his sudden death which left a lot scars on his close friends, family and co-workers such as Vin Diesel. The song and the chorus is introduced in a very emotional sentence ‘It's been a long day without you, my friend’ which to the audience it shows them the pain Paul Walker’s death has left in the hearts of his “Fast family” members. As the chorus is being specifically addressed to Paul Walker’s remembrance the next line came from what Vin Diesel’s last message was to Pual walker. This is because he told him ‘And I'll tell you all about it when I see you again’. This allows the audience to feel for Vin Diesel. Not only that but through this line that Charlie Puth added means that Vin Diesel is looking forward to seeing Paul Walker in heaven, where he would tell him all about what happened after his death. Following this , the chorus mentions ‘We've come a long way from where we began’ which reinforces the journey all of the stage characters had during Fast and Furious series. The series have brought them together as a ‘Fast Family’ by which they became very close to each other in personal life off stage, and then it just repeats the second line again to reinforce the idea of Vin Diesel wanting to see him again. Overall I believe that the chorus of this song is what garbs the listeners attention the most, due to the direct focus on Paul Walker himself and his friends. His death had a large effect on the whole crew by which the song was considered as a dirbute to him. Due to this the chorus seems to be very good introduced to the song as it sets a specific mindest in the readers head as it is quite slow paced and emotional.

MUSIC LYRICS Damn, whoknew? All the planes we flew, Good things we've been through That I'll be standing right here talking to you 'Bout another path I know we loved to hit the road and laugh But something told me that it wouldn't last Had to switch up Look at things different, see the bigger picture Those were the days, Hard work forever pays Now I see you in a better place (see you in a better place) For the first section if the first verse by Miz Khalifa. It portrays Vin Diesel’s second thought about his long lost friends. It begins with “Damn, who knew” this use of informal language makes the verse seem as if its targeted at us; making it seem as we are having a conversation with Vin himself. This is effective as it grabs the audience attention and allows them to engage with the song even more. It also allows all our thoughts to contributed within the song as no one would have ever accepted this sudden tragic death. “All the planes we flew, Good things we've been through” I my opinion this underlines the time Paul Walker and Vin Diesel spent together, by there travelling to different places during the filming of the fast and furious movie. In addition, as this places we see various shots which include memorise of them together. As for the next line of the first verse we can see Miz Khalifa’s mind set converting, as now the lyrics we hear give a feeling of sadness, allowing the audience to feel how Vin Diesel is feeling. These lyrics also refer to Vin Diesel remembering how they used to together, however he has now realised that their journey has ended. Paul and Vin’s life's were thrilling with fast cars and money. However, they both know all goof things come to and end, as this is reinforced within the lyrics “But something told me that it wouldn't last”. As to end the first verse it is finished with the line “Now I see you in a better place (see you in a better place” meaning that after all these good days and hard work Vin Diesel sees him going off to better place which is heaven. This allows this audience to Paul Walker’s personality who do not know him personal. His personality is portrayed as a great and loving person and for that reason he is now in heaven.

MUSIC LYRICS- REFINE Howcan we not talk about family when family's all that we got? Everything I went through you were standing there by my side And now you gon' be with me for the last ride MUSIC LYRICS- 2ND VERSE First you both go out your way And the vibe is feeling strong And what's small turn to a friendship A friendship turn to a bond And that bond will never be broken The love will never get lost And when brotherhood come first Then the line will never be crossed Established it on our own When that line had to be drawn And that line is what we reach So remember me when I'm gone Referring to the famous movie quote by Vin Diesel who says “I don’t have friends. I got family” I believe that this eas the biggest influence for this refrain. The refrain talks about how important family is in our lives, especially the ‘fast family’ which no helps Paul Walkers family to stay strong, supporting the. The last two lines of the refrain which is “Everything I went through you were standing there by my side, And now you gon' be with me for the last ride” they reflect Vin Diesels and Paul Walkers experience which they went through together such as their first children being born and the support they had for each other. However this has come to an end with their last movie being produced together, which could be considered as their “last ride”. This interlinks with Ander Goodwin’s theory of ‘intertextual reference’. This is because at the ending of the song we see that Vin and Paul drive away from each other into the distance with both of them going different directions, reflecting Paul’s death and him being in a “better place”. The second verse which is performed by Wiz Khalifa is seen from Paul Walker’s perspective. Paul Walker has been within the same crew and acting for the same movie for about 14 years. As first they were all complete stranger however now they have developed a strong bond and became family not just friends. Not only that, but throughout the years they got used to each other and to the point that they started to treat each other like siblings, creating a ‘fast family’. With Pauls ‘fast family’ will never forgot what he did for him, his personality and actions he has taken during his life have caused him to never be forgotten, which is reinforced in the lyrics by saying “Them love will never get lost”. As for the second part of the second verse continues to enable Pauls and Vin’s friendship, but also their relationship towards the rest of Fats and Furious crew. “And when brotherhood come first” the word “brotherhood” give the audience an idea of how the crew has coped together, especially men which treat each other as brothers. Due to this we gain a very positive connotation of how ophitic they were towards each other. Their “And that bond will never be broken” “bond” has been kept very strong throughout the years until the figurative finish line, in the form of Paul Walkers death.

I found thistask very helpful as it showed me how important the lyrics are and how it can change the concept or narrative of a music video. Not only that but also represents how much words within the lyrics can change the visualisation. In addition, I understood how important the mise-en- cene, props and location are to emphasis the lyrics further. Over all, the lyrics analysis allowed me to understand how important it is to understand the text you are willing to show. Both music videos successfully showed me how to combine the narrative and performance together, producing a hybrid but also how to make it go well with the lyrics. In addition, the artist use, props, mise-en-scene and body language full of gesture to reflect the symbolism and meaning, gave it more natural and engaging feeling for the audience, enabling the visualisation to become much stronger and more powerful. Over all, I believe both of the music videos have a powerful message to pass on to the audience and make them understand the music video due to the use of props, mise-en-scene and locations, all this made everything to be understood more and emphasised. CONCLUSION
