2. Option 1: Open Ourselves to the World
• America should get rid of barriers that prevent immigrants
from coming here.
• Give immigrants access to better quality of life: education,
jobs, health care, etc.
• America is a nation of immigrants.
• Key Quote: “The United States has been a land of
opportunity for people outside our borders. Each wave of
immigrants has contributed to our greatness.”

3. Option 2: Make Emigration Unnecessary
• America should help improve other countries so their
people won’t want to leave.
• America should increase trade relationships with these
countries.
• This would decrease immigration and possibly terrorism.
• Key Quote: “By improving life among the world’s poor
and disadvantaged, we can get a grip on the forces that
drive desperate immigrants to our country’s shores.”

4. Option 3: Admit the Talent We Need
• America should only admit immigrants who will help the
economy.
• We need workers in technology fields as well as low wage
workers for farming.
• Limit the number of immigrants based on economic
conditions.
• Key Quote: “Immigration policy should be designed first to
serve our country’s economic needs, not solve the world’s
problems.”

5. Option 4: Restrict Immigration
• America does not have the resources to handle a high
level of immigration.
• Immigration damages our health care and education
systems.
• Drastically reduce the number of immigrants to preserve
our jobs.
• Key Quote: “We should drastically reduce the number of
immigrants we accept and commit the resources
necessary to take control of our borders.”
