This document provides information about the National Centre for Pharmacoeconomics' (NCPE) initiatives to engage patient communities in Ireland. It discusses the NCPE's patient submission template pilot, which allows patient groups to include the patient perspective in healthcare technology assessment decisions. It provides guidance on completing submissions, including focusing on how a new treatment may help address patient needs and improve outcomes compared to current options. Submissions are limited to 6 pages and included in the NCPE's final reports to help inform reimbursement recommendations.

2. Patient Submission Template
Provide an opportunity to include the patient
voice in the decision making process.

3. Completing the submission
 Forms may only be submitted by patient
groups, not individual patients.
 MAX 6 pages
 Return to NCPE within three months of the
HTA start date, available on NCPE
website
 Email as a Word document (not PDF) to
info@ncpe.ie

4. What happens next?
 The NCPE will include the following
sections in their final report to the HSE-
CPU
 Q9 and Q10 Financial disclosures
 Q18 Summary of key aspects of
submission
 Any other information deemed relevant by
the NCPE

These sections are not submission specific
and can be completed in advance of a
planned submission.

Section 3-the difference the new medicine
may make
Advantages and disadvantages of the new
treatment compared to current treatment
How will the new medicine address the
unmet need specified in Section 2?

Q12 -‘focus groups and public meetings
with patients, carers and their families’
