(Ephesians 4:12-15). To help Christians to "to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ." So that "we are no longer...tossed here and
there...by every wind of doctrine." They may be downloaded and modified free of charge.
Matthew 10:8 …Freely you received, freely give.
5. Deuteronomy 8:1, “today”
• NAS Deuteronomy 8:1 "All the commandments that I am commanding
you today you shall be careful to do… (Deuteronomy 8:1, 11, 19, 9:1,
3)
• Most commentaries say that Deuteronomy consists of three or more
sermons that Moses gave. Only a few say that it was three points of
one sermon delivered at one time.
• Deuteronomy uses the word “today” more than any other book of the
Bible. Four times more than any other book of the Bible (58 NAU).
More than 1/4 of all the uses of the word are in Deuteronomy. It sure
seems to me that Moses would have us understand that he delivered
the entire sermon in one day. The day they would “cross over.”
• Deuteronomy uses the phrase “this day” another 15 times.
• NAU Deuteronomy 2:18 'Today you shall cross over Ar, the border of
Moab. Samsung most first of the month and got paid.
5
6. Deuteronomy 8:2, The Purpose Of
The 40 Years Wandering
• NAU Deuteronomy 8:2 …the LORD your God
has led you in the wilderness these forty years,
that He might humble you, testing you, to
know what was in your heart, whether you
would keep His commandments or not.
6
7. Deuteronomy 8:3, Every Word Of
God Is Food For Us
• NAU Deuteronomy 8:3…that He might make
you understand that man does not live by
bread alone, but man lives by everything that
proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD.
• NAU Matthew 4:4 But He answered and said,
"It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD
ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS
OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.’" [Luke 4:4]
7
8. Deuteronomy 8:3, manna= God’s
Word
• John MacArthur Study Bible, on page 260,
Deuteronomy 8:3, says God sustained the people in
the wilderness with the food previously unknown to
them. See Exodus 16:15 for the beginning of the giving
of the manna and Joshua 5:12 for it cessation. Man
does not live by bread alone. Israel's food in the
wilderness was decreed by the word of God. They had
manna because it came by God's command; therefore,
ultimately it was not bread that kept them alive, but
God's word (cf. Matthew 4:4; Luke 4:4)."
8
9. Deuteronomy 8:5,
Loving Fathers Discipline
• NAU Deuteronomy 8:5 "Thus you are to know in your
heart that the LORD your God was disciplining you
just as a man disciplines his son.
• NAU Proverbs 3:12 For whom the LORD loves He
reproves, Even as a father corrects the son in whom
he delights.
• NAU Revelation 3:19 'Those whom I love, I reprove
and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent.
• NAU Hebrews 12:6 FOR THOSE WHOM THE LORD
LOVES HE DISCIPLINES, AND HE SCOURGES EVERY
SON WHOM HE RECEIVES.” [2 Samuel 7:14, Job 5:17, Psalm 94:12]
9
10. Deuteronomy 8:9,
Will Not Lack Anything
• NAU Deuteronomy 8:9 a land where you will eat food without
scarcity, in which you will not lack anything; a land whose
stones are iron, and out of whose hills you can dig copper.
• How would you like to have God give you that promise?
• NAU John 14:14 "If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do
it. [Matthew 18:19, John 16:23 (the Father will do it)]
• When Jesus says He will do what the Father does, that’s a deity
claim
• John MacArthur Study Bible, on 8:9, iron…copper. The
mountains of southern Lebanon in the region east of the sea of
Galilee and south of the Dead Sea contain iron. Both copper and
iron were found in the Rift Valley S of the Dead Sea."
10
12. Deuteronomy 8:11,
Do Not Forget The LORD
• NAU Deuteronomy 8:11 "Beware that you do not
forget the LORD your God by not keeping His
commandments and His ordinances and His
statutes which I am commanding you today;
• Wealth and prosperity are a great temptation to
forget about God and not depend on His daily
provision. The consequence of forgetting God is
described in verse 19, as going after idols.
• Human beings are religious by nature, if we don't
worship God we gravitate to idolatry.
12
13. Deuteronomy 8:11-14
• NAU Deuteronomy 8:11… do not forget the
LORD your God by not keeping His
commandments…12…eaten and are
satisfied…good houses and lived in them,
13…silver and gold multiply, and all that you
have multiplies, 14…your heart becomes
proud…
• Many in America celebrate Gay Pride Day, as a
fulfillment of this prophecy.
13
14. Deuteronomy 8:16,
Why The Wanderings?
• NAU Deuteronomy 8:16 "In the wilderness He
fed you manna which your fathers did not
know, that He might humble you and that He
might test you, to do good for you in the end.
• From our human perspective we see the 40
years of wilderness wanderings as God's
punishment, but that's not how God sees it
completely.
14
16. Deuteronomy 9:1 “Hear [shema]
• NAS Deuteronomy 9:1 “Hear [shema], O Israel!
You are crossing over the Jordan today…
• Here is another shema but you won't find this
section in phylacteries or mezuzahs
16
17. Deuteronomy 9:4, OT Righteousness
Was By Obedience To God's Law
• NAU Deuteronomy 9:4 "Do not say in your heart when the
LORD your God has driven them out before you, 'Because of
my righteousness the LORD has brought me in to possess this
land,' but it is because of the wickedness of these nations that
the LORD is dispossessing them before you. 5 "It is not for your
righteousness or for the uprightness of your heart that you are
going to possess their land, but it is because of the wickedness
of these nations that the LORD your God is driving them out
before you, in order to confirm the oath which the LORD swore
to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. 6 "Know, then, it
is not because of your righteousness that the LORD your God is
giving you this good land to possess, for you are a stubborn
people.
17
18. 2 Samuel 22:21, OT Righteousness
Was By Obedience To God's Law
• NAU 2 Samuel 22:21 "The LORD has rewarded me according to
my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands He
has recompensed me. 22 "For I have kept the ways of the
LORD, And have not acted wickedly against my God. 23 "For
all His ordinances were before me; And as for His statutes, I
did not depart from them. 24 "I was also blameless toward
Him, And I kept myself from my iniquity. 25 "Therefore the
LORD has recompensed me according to my righteousness,
According to my cleanness before His eyes. 26 "With the kind
Thou dost show Thyself kind, With the blameless Thou dost
show Thyself blameless; 27 With the pure Thou dost show
Thyself pure, And with the perverted Thou dost show Thyself
astute.
18
19. Deuteronomy 9:4, OT Righteousness
Was By Obedience To God's Law
• NAU Deuteronomy 6:25 "It will be righteousness
for us if we are careful to observe all this
commandment before the LORD our God, just as
He commanded us.
• Yet, as sinners their righteousness was alien to
them, a foreign righteousness, which was imputed
to them by God because they believed God, as
evidenced by the fact that they kept His
commandments.
• God was going to destroy the inhabitants of the
land because of their wickedness… 19
20. Deuteronomy 9:4, OT Righteousness
Was By Obedience To God's Law
• NAU Deuteronomy 9:4 "Do not say in your
heart when the LORD your God has driven
them out before you, 'Because of my
righteousness the LORD has brought me in to
possess this land,' but it is because of the
wickedness of these nations that the LORD is
dispossessing them before you.
• Our righteousness was by Christ’s obedience
to God's Law
20
21. The Only Righteousness Was By
Christ’s Obedience To God's Law
• No one from Adam to the new heavens and new earth, will
ever be or has ever been saved by anything other than
God’s grace, through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
• NAU Hebrews 10:4 For it is impossible for the blood of
bulls and goats to take away sins. 5 Therefore, when He
comes into the world, He says, "Sacrifice and offering Thou
hast not desired, But a body Thou hast prepared for Me; 6
In whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin Thou hast
taken no pleasure. 7 "Then I said, 'Behold, I have come (In
the roll of the book it is written of Me) To do Thy will, O
God.'"
21
22. The Only Righteousness Was By
Christ’s Obedience To God's Law
• NAU Acts 4:12 "And there is salvation in no one
else; for there is no other name under heaven that
has been given among men by which we must be
saved.”
• NAU John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and
the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father
but through Me.
• NAU Matthew 26:39 And He went a little beyond
them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, "My
Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet
not as I will, but as You will." 22
23. Deuteronomy 9:4, Our Righteousness Was
By Christ’s Obedience To God's Law
• NAU Acts 17:31 because He has fixed a day in which He will judge
the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has
appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from
the dead.”
• NAU Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the
power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew
first and also to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is
revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "BUT THE RIGHTEOUS
man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.” (Hab 2:4)
• NAU Romans 3:21 But now apart from the Law the righteousness
of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the
Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus
Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction;
23
24. Re-gathered Israel's Righteousness Will Be
By Christ’s Obedience To God's Law
• NAU Jeremiah 23:3 "Then I Myself shall gather the remnant of My flock
out of all the countries where I have driven them and shall bring them back
to their pasture; and they will be fruitful and multiply. 4 "I shall also raise up
shepherds over them and they will tend them; and they will not be afraid
any longer, nor be terrified, nor will any be missing," declares the LORD. 5
"Behold, the days are coming," declares the LORD, "When I shall raise up
for David a righteous Branch; And He will reign as king and act wisely And
do justice and righteousness in the land. 6 "In His days Judah will be saved,
And Israel will dwell securely; And this is His name by which He will be
called, 'The LORD our righteousness.' 7 "Therefore behold, the days are
coming," declares the LORD, "when they will no longer say, 'As the LORD
lives, who brought up the sons of Israel from the land of Egypt,' 8 but, 'As
the LORD lives, who brought up and led back the descendants of the
household of Israel from the north land and from all the countries where I
had driven them.' Then they will live on their own soil."
24
26. Deuteronomy 9:4, OT Righteousness
Was By Obedience To God's Law
• Every human being who does not end up in hell will be in heaven only
for one reason, Jesus Christ, saved by God’s grace through faith.
• Everyone's ultimate righteousness (from Adam on) was only by
Christ’s perfect obedience to God's Law, sinless life, sacrificial death,
burial, and resurrection.
• NAU Jeremiah 33:16 'In those days Judah shall be saved, and Jerusalem
shall dwell in safety; and this is the name by which she shall be called:
the LORD is our righteousness.' 17 "For thus says the LORD, 'David
shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel;
• NAU 2 Corinthians 5:21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on
our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
• Luke 1:73-80 1 Peter 2:24 2 Peter 1:1
26
27. Deuteronomy 9:5,
The Wickedness Of These Nations
• NAU Deuteronomy 9:5…it is because of the
wickedness of these nations that the LORD
your God is driving them out before you…
• America murders over 3000 babies the womb
every day!
• Sunday June 28 is “Gay Pride Day” in America,
and the Supreme Court has invented a
constitutional right to gay marriage.
27
28. Deuteronomy 9:6, Stubborn People
• Deuteronomy 9:6
"Know, then, it is not
because of your
righteousness that the
LORD your God is
giving you this good
land to possess, for
you are a stubborn
people.
29. Deuteronomy 9:7,
Provoking God To Wrath
• NAU Deuteronomy 9:7 "Remember, do not forget how you
provoked the LORD your God to wrath in the wilderness;
from the day that you left the land of Egypt until you arrived
at this place, you have been rebellious against the LORD.
• How many times do you think we “provoked the LORD your
God to wrath”?
• NAU 1 Corinthians 8:12 And so, by sinning against the
brethren and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you
sin against Christ.
• NAU 1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee immorality. Every other sin that
a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins
against his own body.
29
30. Deuteronomy 9:21,
Obliterate Your Sinfulness
• NAU Deuteronomy 9:21 "I took your sinful thing,
the calf which you had made, and burned it with
fire and crushed it, grinding it very small until it
was as fine as dust; and I threw its dust into the
brook that came down from the mountain.
• Oh how I wish that I/we would/could obliterate
our own sins, and America's sins, like that!
• Rejoice in the fact that Jesus paid the penalty for
our sins.
30
31. In Conclusion• John Newton said, “I
remember two things,
that I am a great
sinner and that Christ
is a great Savior.”
• Watchman Nee said
“To hold on to the
plough while wiping
our tears, that is
Christianity.”
31
32. Convicting, Convict Of Sin
NAU John 16:8 "And He,
when He comes, will convict
the world concerning sin and
righteousness and judgment;
NAU Jude 1:15 to execute
judgment upon all, and to
convict all the ungodly of all
their ungodly deeds which
they have done in an ungodly
way, and of all the harsh
things which ungodly sinners
have spoken against Him."

33. How many genders are there in
today's society?
• A number of scholars point to a proliferation of genders. A non-exhaustive summary list
might be:
• 1. Male heterosexual,
• 2. Female heterosexual,
• 3. Male homosexual,
• 4. Female homosexual,
• 5. Male bi-sexual,
• 6. Female bi-sexual,
• 7. Hermaphrodite,
• 8. Male pseudo-hermaphrodite,
• 9. Female pseudo-hermaphrodite,
• 10. Male transgender,
• 11. Female transgender,
• 12. Male transsexual,
• 13. Female transsexual (it could be argued that the final two categories could be
subsumed into #s 10 and 11).

• Jerusalem Not the Capital of the Jews?
• Jerusalem, according to scientific research, has existed for about 4,000 years. During the first 1,000 years it had no
connection to the Jewish people. Even in the Bible, the Book of Genesis tells about Melchizedek, the king of Salem, who
came out to bless Abraham, who had no connection to Jerusalem. During the time of the patriarchs, Jerusalem did not
figure in their activity at all. Even when the Israelites were in Egypt, Jerusalem was never mentioned, and when they
wandered in the desert they spoke about the Land of Canaan—but not about Jerusalem.
• The conquest of “the land” by Joshua, son of Nun, did not include taking over Jerusalem. It was actually the king of
Jerusalem who organized the coalition of five monarchs against Joshua, and at the time the city was apparently the
capital of another nation, not the Israelites.
• The conquest of Jerusalem by the tribe of Judah, following the death of Joshua, led to the burning of the city rather
than to settlement of the tribe there. Later on it was inhabited by the Jebusites, and only 1,000 years after its
establishment did King David capture the city and turn it into his capital.
• -www.haaretz.com, 20 May 2015
• The article Gideon Biger wrote was in opposition to Prime Minister Netanyahu’s declaration, “Jerusalem was and is the
capital city of the Jewish people only.” What does the Bible say? “And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall
be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the
Gentiles be fulfilled” (Luke 21:24).
• Today, Jerusalem is still “trodden down of the Gentiles.” Only after the times of the Gentiles is fulfilled will Jerusalem
be the capital of all Jewish people. But not “Jewish people only.” Leviticus 19:34 reads, “But the stranger that dwelleth
with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land
of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.”
