2. Genealogy teaches
1. He fulfills His promises in His own time.
2. God punishes His people when they
rebel against Him.
3. God’s family includes Jews & Gentiles.
3. God’s promise to Abraham
• Genesis 12:3 And I will bless them that bless you,
and curse him that curses you: and in you shall all
families of the earth be blessed.
• Genesis 17:4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with
you, and you shall be a father of many nations.
• Genesis 17:5 Neither shall your name any more be
called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for a
father of many nations have I made you.
• Genesis 17:6 And I will make you exceedingly fruitful,
and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come
out of you.
4. God fulfills His promise to Abraham
• Galatians 3:26 For you are all the children of
God by faith in Christ Jesus.
• Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have
been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
• Galatians 3:29 And if you are Christ's, then
are you Abraham's descendants, and heirs
according to the promise.
5. God fulfills His promises
• Galatians 4:4 But when the fullness of the time
came, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman,
made under the law,
• Galatians 4:5 To redeem them that were under the
law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
• Galatians 4:6 And because you are sons, God has
sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts,
crying, Abba, Father.
• Galatians 4:7 Therefore you are no more a servant,
but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through
Christ.
6. Gods promise to David
• 2 Samuel 7:12 And when your days be
fulfilled, and you shall sleep with your fathers,
I will set up your offspring after you, who shall
proceed out of your own body, and I will
establish his kingdom.
• 2 Samuel 7:13 He shall build a house for my
name, and I will stablish the throne of his
kingdom forever.
7. God’s promise to David
• 2 Samuel 7:14 I will be his father, and he shall be my
son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the
rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of
men:
• 2 Samuel 7:15 But my mercy shall not depart away
from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away
before you.
• 2 Samuel 7:16 And your house and your kingdom
shall be established forever before you: your throne
shall be established forever.
8. God fulfills His promises
• Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a
son is given: and the government shall be upon
his shoulder: and his name shall be called
Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The
everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
• Isaiah 9:7 Of the increase of his government
and peace there shall be no end, upon the
throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order
it, and to establish it with justice and with
righteousness from this time forth even forever.
The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

• Matthew 1:11 And Josiah begat Jeconiah and
his brothers, about the time they were carried
away to Babylon:
• Matthew 1:12 And after they were brought to
Babylon, Jeconiah begat Shealtiel; and
Shealtiel begat Zerubbabel;

• Esther 2:6 Who had been carried away from
Jerusalem with the captives who had been
carried away with Jeconiah king of Judah,
whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon
had carried away.
• Jeremiah 29:10 For thus says the LORD,
That after seventy years are accomplished at
Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good
word toward you, in causing you to return to
this place.
12. God’s punishes when we rebel
• Daniel 1:1-7. .turn with me please
• Daniel 9:2 In the first year of his reign I
Daniel understood from the books the number
of the years, of which the word of the LORD
came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would
accomplish seventy years in the desolations
of Jerusalem.
13. God’s punishes when we rebel
• Jeremiah 25:9 Behold, I will send and take all
the families of the north, says the LORD, and
Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my
servant, and will bring them against this land,
and against its inhabitants, and against all
these nations round about, and will utterly
destroy them, and make them an
astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual
desolations.
14. God’s punishes when we rebel
• Jeremiah 25:10 Moreover I will take from them
the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness,
the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of
the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the
light of the lamp.
• Jeremiah 25:11 And this whole land shall be a
desolation, and an astonishment; and these
nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy
years.
15. God’s punishes when we rebel
• Hebrews 12:5 And you have forgotten the
exhortation which speaks unto you as unto children,
My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord, nor
faint when you are rebuked of him:
• Hebrews 12:6 For whom the Lord loves he
chastens, and scourges every son whom he
receives.
• Hebrews 12:7 If you endure chastening, God deals
with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the
father chastens not?
17. God’s family includes Jews & Gentiles
• Acts 13:46 Then Paul and Barnabas grew
bold, and said, It was necessary that the word
of God should first have been spoken to you:
but seeing you put it from you, and judge
yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we
turn to the Gentiles.
• Acts 13:47 For so has the Lord commanded
us, saying, I have set you to be a light of the
Gentiles, that you should be for salvation unto
the ends of the earth.
18. God’s family includes Jews & Gentiles
• Acts 13:48 And when the Gentiles heard this,
they were glad, and glorified the word of the
Lord: and as many as were ordained to
eternal life believed.
• Acts 13:49 And the word of the Lord was
published throughout all the region.
19. God’s family includes Jews & Gentiles
• Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor
Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is
neither male nor female: for you are all one in
Christ Jesus.
• Genesis 22:18 And in your descendants shall
all the nations of the earth be blessed;
because you have obeyed my voice.
