Opinion Essay
An opinion essay tells what the writer thinks or feels about a topic. People have different opinions
about things. In an opinion essay, you write your opinion about a topic. When you write an opinion
essay, you choose a topic about which you have strong feelings. You support your opinion with
reasons. For this Unit Project, you are going to write an opinion essay about the wetlands of
Mississippi.
Writing Process
Part I: Prewriting
Ideas As you learned in Unit 1, Mississippi has wetlands in the northwesten part of the state. Some
people have opinions about the importance of wetlands, protecting existing wetlands, and protecting
the species that live in wetlands. All of these can be ideas for an opinion essay....show more content...
Write your introduction. State your opinion and try to hook the readers' attention right away. Look at
these examples:
Weak Opening
I think Mississippi's wetlands are very important.
Strong Opening
Mississippi's wetlands help prevent floods and provide homes for animals and plants.
Write the body of your essay. Tell why you think your opinion is correct. Begin a new paragraph for
each reason. Write a main–idea sentence for each paragraph that states the reason. Then use at least
two supporting details for each reason. Write a conclusion. Sum up your important points. End in a
way that your reader will remember. Look at these examples.
Weak Closing
Mississippi's wetlands should be preserved.
Strong Closing
Preserving Mississippi's wetlands will show future generations that we cared about our environment
and about them. We protected wonderful animals and plants that help make our state special.

Part III: Revising
Reread your first draft. Did you state your opinion clearly? Did you include good reasons for your
opinion? Did you support your reasons with details? Does your opening catch a reader's attention?
Is your conclusion strong? Word Choice Think about the words you used. Use synonyms to replace
words you use too often. Synonyms are words with the same or nearly the same meaning.

My Personal Opinion Essay
For as long as I can remember I have been told to constantly strive for more and never settle for
less. It wasn't until one day when I decided to chauffeur a few friends to a local creek that I began
to change my personal opinion in regards to exceling in the workplace. During a conversation,
my friends and I got on the topic on how each of us was doing. One of us said "I'm good, I'm not
overwhelmed or underwhelmed." and someone responded, "so you're whelmed?" This simple
and somewhat odd question caused me to think about things differently. I decided that the idea of
"whelmed" can be defined as being completely content with the current state of your life and self,
be it physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and financially. The idea of being "whelmed"
caused me to wonder why it isn't okay, to just be okay. I believe that the society that we live in
has conditioned us to believe that more is better and happiness is only achieved when you have
the most recent top of the line inanimate object and enough left over money to splurge on things
you don't need. That way of thinking has caused America to become an individualistic society. You
hear the phrases "This is a dog eat dog world" and "fend for yourself" and it shows that there is an
underlying drive to make it to the "top". And once you finally get to the top that is when you are
successful. But if you're not fighting to get there then you are doing something wrong. This nonstop
fight to excel in the workplace

Public Opinion On Politics And Politics
Public Opinion Influences Democracy
Public opinion greatly shapes the democracy of our country. The Public opinion is the people's
interests and actions. It can be swayed by common linkages such as: media, interest groups,
elections, and political parties. These linkages are channels by which government becomes aware
of the public opinion. Public opinion is different from the Mass opinion by which the mass opinion
is the majority vote/decision. Key's theory states that it is in fact the public's opinion that keeps
leaders and policy connected. "He believed that the public's opinion keeps leaders from straying too
far outside the parameters acceptable to the people in the making of policy" (Key's introduction,
419). V.O. Key's theory of the Public Opinion and AmericanDemocracy relates to what we are
currently enduring in our nation's process of choosing an electoral candidate to become the next
political leader. For it is not the elites decision to choose the next elite in power, it's the people's
choice for whom they decide should be their next leader.
The public opinion is shown prominently through the media. The media is able to use false
advertisements and show political speeches promising "unrealistic expectations" that draw in the
public. Magazines and newscasts are showing fake depictions of the electoral candidates that the
public sees They then are able to make unfair judgements about them. "The observation of a few

What makes a good teacher? Essay
In my opinion, a good teacher should be one who puts her heart into teaching. This is because
only by doing so will the students feel their passion and hard work. When a teacher strives hard
for the students, students will put in their effort as well. If a teacher dislikes her job, goes to
classes in a bad mood, her teaching would also be affected and students would not be able to enjoy
lessons as well.
Another point that makes a good teacher would be his/her patience. Teachers should not get upset or
even worse, give up on the students who are not so strong in their studies. Instead, they should have
the patience to slowly coach them, give them extra lessons, and find different ways to encourage
them. Let them know that the teacher...show more content...
It would be better if the teacher is able to find common topics to chat with the students. This would
let the students feel like they can relate better to the teacher.
"You must not give up. I want to let you know that even if you're facing so many problems, and
feel like there's no one to talk to, I'll be here for you. Everyone else might want to be the sun that
lights up your life, but I rather be the moon that guides you through your darkest hours. Let's strive
hard and work toward our goal together!" This was what my high school teacher told me 10 years
ago and I have remembered it until now, and will remember it for the next 10 years and so on.
I was once a problematic kid who mixed with bad company and flunk tests. I never thought about
what I was going to do the next day, what more when I grew up. Of course when I was younger, I
had lots of dreams. I wanted to set up my own company, I wanted to be a teacher, I wanted to be
able to drive an airplane and the list went on. But as the years went by, they became less
insignificant to me and soon, I forgot every single one of those dreams and goals. I got to a new
school and knew friends who smoke and took drugs. My grades started dropping from "A" to fails.
But I did not care. I could not be bothered by then. I went partying every night and got home drunk.

My Definition of Success Essay example
"Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value."
– Albert Einstein ––
My personal definition would not include "stuff" at all. No one will care (and neither will you)
what kind of car your drove or how big your house was when you're on your deathbed. Your
thoughts will not be about your job, the office or how much money you made.
Personal success is defined by how content and enjoyable your life is. That is not to say that
challenges and disappointments aren't included in this. A rich, eventful and challenging life doing
what you enjoy and positively affecting others seems to me to be just about right. Find a job you
love and you'll never work another day in your life. I know I won't. In my...show more content...
Past, present and future are all important to keep in perspective. Looking back and not having regrets
is extremely satisfying. Your current situation and your contentment with it are also very important,
and having goals and milestones to work toward in the future keeps you motivated and keeps life
interesting and challenging.
In this age in which we live, success is generally measured by the amount of money you earn, or
the amount of wealth or power or number of promotions you've accumulated. I find that the older I
grow, the more I view the people who are most happy and content with their lives as the most
successful. Rich, poor or in between, they've tended to treat life as a journey, not a final destination.
They took that trip when they were 25 even though they really couldn't afford it, they ordered the
$55 bottle of wine with their filet because they knew that even though it was expensive it would
enhance the meal so much more than water would. They took a chance on a start–up company,
moved to Europe or Asia and experienced things that most people only dream about. If they managed
to grow wealthy from the experience, so much the better. As long as moderation with most things is
practiced, things won't spin out of control.
Bottom line rules for a successful life:
Always try new things.
Listen twice as much as you talk.
Travel as much as you can comfortably afford.
Faith and family always come first –

Community Needs Assessment Essay
Research Method Paper
A Community Needs Assessment
Research is conducted in a variety of different ways using different methods and methodologies.
How these methods are used is imperative to how clear and accurate research will be. Community
needs assessment is a research method used by many researchers that assists in finding gaps within a
particular target group within a particular community. Throughout this paper I will discuss what a
community needs assessment is and when and how it is used. I will also discuss some of the
strengths and limitations of this method. I then continue to explain some theoretical and practical
perspectives when dealing with this method and how it would apply when conducting your own
research in a...show more content...
When conducting a needs assessment, people's needs with in the community are assessed to see
where gaps lie and improvements can be made. If carried out and reported correctly these needs are
then bought to local government or relevant organisations/peoples attention, giving the opportunity
for programs to be put in place to benefit the people of the community. This is where the third step
of Finifter, Jensen, Wilson & Koenig (2005) process comes into place; the implementation of
projects to assist where the gaps were found. "Implementation of recommended solutions should be
the ultimate goal of any project to improve services and quality of life of a target population (Neely,
T R)." The more efficient all three steps are carried out the stronger this method becomes. "The
importance of disseminating results effectively using these guidelines cannot be stressed enough. A
needs assessment will have achieved nothing if the results are not communicated effectively (Neely,
T R)."
Theoretically, community needs assessments are a great way to identify gaps within communities
and improving the life of individuals within a target group. If there is a collaboration of all three
components of the community needs assessment model, Assessment, Dissemination and

Argumentative Essay On Online Dating
Over the past decade, online dating popularity has increase drastically. Even though the younger
generation of society is in the transition from traditional to modern dating, people of all ages are
beginning to test the modern way of communicating: online dating. Many people are curious if
online dating is the best way to search for a partner in today's society. Is online dating actually the
most successful way to find "the one"? Many people do not feel comfortable admitting that they
participate in online dating simple because they are unsure of how society will judge them. Society
is gradually becoming aware of the idea and accepting the newest form of dating and courting. How
successful is this modern dating and how does it compare to traditional dating techniques? The world
is such an enormous place, making traditional dating difficult to meet the number of people which
online dating sites provide (Nicholson, 2014). Individuals may access partners with specific interests
that may include lifestyle, personality, and orientation (Nicholson, 2014). A variety of dating sites
offer matching tests, which theoretically help connect two individuals quicker than if they searched
with the traditional method (Nicholson, 2014). People realize how effortless it is to search for a
partner and immediately fall in love with the process. Online dating provides the opportunity for
individuals to gain more personal information about the person prior to meeting face to face

Opinion Poll Essay
Another factor to note is the influence of opinion polls. Parties that gain popular support during
campaigns may have benefited from "the bandwagon effect", (Kay, 1997). Some undecided voters
may look at opinion polls, and other polling data to decide where the political parties stand relative
to each other. The various opinion polls conducted seem to indicate that Alberta was to be an NDP
province as the campaign neared its later stages. There were several pre–election polls conducted in
the province that showed the roughly even amount of support between all three parties. However,
the Progressive Conservative's did hold an early lead at the start of the campaign, leading some to
believe that they would be re–elected. As the campaign...show more content...
In addition, Jim Prentice unsuccessfully attempted to convince the Albertans on the importance of
such economic blueprint. The early election call made it possible for the NDP to take an advantage
of an unpopular budget.
By calling an early election, Jim Prentice was trying to take advantage of the political
environment. The PC government were facing a declining approval rate and Jim Prentice had
hoped that an early election would provide his government with a new mandate and more years in
power. Yet, voters were tired of the PC's budget deficits and lack of vision, and scandals, which
provided the NDP the opportunity to offer voters an alternative solution, (Leeson, 2015). These
events made the NDP's appear even more attractive to voters as a new approach to governing.
Leadership
The image of Jim Prentice has been mentioned on most occasions as a reason why Albertans
withdrew their support from the long–governing PCs. The then government led by Mr. Prentice had
received poor reputation and this led to the defeat of his government. Jim Prentice was seen as an
elite that was out of touch with the common, everyday Albertan, (Sayers and Stewart, 2016). As a
result of this, many voters defected from the PC party and supported other options instead. This was
an adequate indication that the party was losing its popularity while NDP was gaining. Also, theNew
Democratic Party accused the incumbent government of Jim Prentice of poor fiscal policy due to his

Opinion essay is a formal piece of essay writing which presents the author's point of view on a
particular subject supported by reasons and examples. The opposing viewpoint is also suggested, it
goes with arguments that show that it is unconvincing.
A Successful Opinion Essay Consists of:
An introduction where the topic and the author's opinion are stated clearly.
A main body where viewpoints supported by reasons are presented in several paragraphs. This
section has also the opposing viewpoint which is proved to be unconvincing. A conclusion where the

There are several things that can be done about these problems. Parents should be encouraged to

Teenagers On After-school Jobs Essays
Almost every teenager wants a job, yet many people are against it. I believe teenagers should have
after–school jobs for a number of reasons. First, having a son or a daughter that works can
financially help the parents. Also, the experience the teenager will acquire from after–school jobs
will help him or her on future jobs. Finally, teenagers should have after–school jobs because it will
keep them away from trouble. Parents should realize that as long as their son or daughter wants an
after–school job and it does not affect his or her performance at school, they should let their child
have one.      Usually, families that have financial problems have
their teenage children go to work. Having an extra family...show more content...
By having a job a teenager can save up for college, to buy a car, to buy a stereo, etc. Teenagers feel
'free' when they have a job: they can spend their own money on whatever they want without
feeling guilty. In addition to helping his family, having a job at an early age can help for future
jobs.      When many people apply for an important job, the
employer will most likely choose the person who has the most working experience. People who
have had a job since their teenage years will know how to deal with the stress and the work better
than new people. They will be able to cope with job–related problems. This reason is very significant
for teenagers who choose not to go to college, and their only reason for getting employed is
experience. Yet, the most important reason is that jobs keep teenagers away from violence.
Jobs are very time–consuming. If a teenager works and goes to
school, he will probably not have time to join a gang or get into fights. Nowadays more and more
employees are getting drug–tested at their jobs. If a teenager likes his job or needs to work, he will
not do drugs because he will get fired. Furthermore, if a teenager receives a paycheck he will spend
his earned money instead of stealing. A job can lead a teenager to a better lifestyle and a healthier
life.      I think teenagers should have after–school jobs.

Essay on Opinion on Abortion
Opinion on Abortion
My own opinion of abortion is very varied. There are so many different reasons for abortions.
Every woman who has had one will have had reasons. I am sure they wouldn't have decided in a
few minutes that they were going to abort their baby. They would have thought long and hard
about what to do. I put myself in the position of someone else. If I got pregnant now would I
really be able to keep it. I would, for one, have to stop school and miss out on the education I
would need to bring up a child. I probably wouldn't be able to cope with the emotional pressures
and cope with the pain of giving birth. It all seems so easy before you see it through someone else's
eyes. Women...show more content...
Today, abortion is illegal in very few countries–even those with religious beliefs and traditions.
During the 1960s and 1970s many governments relaxed their abortion laws and made it easier for
women to terminate unwanted pregnancies. In a few countries such as the Soviet Union abortion is
seen as an alternative to contraception. In China women are forced to have abortions because of the
one–child–per–family policy. This policy is aimed at reducing the country's overpopulation problems.
Reasons for abortions with different circumstances
If you are thinking that there are no valid reasons for abortion, just imagine a fourteen year old girl
who has been raped. How can she be expected to get on with her life and ever recover if she has a
baby? How can she receive a full education? Every time she looks at the baby, she will be reminded
of her terrible experience.
In some countries, for example, Russia and China, there is an absence of family planning. Abortion
is used as a form of birth control. In Russia, a woman has on average four or five abortions in her
lifetime. In China there are over ten million abortions annually. I think that the amount of money
spent on abortions in these countries could be better spent on promoting contraceptives and family
planning. I do not agree

The Use of Polls to Analyze Public Opinion in Politics
Public opinion is defined in the text as "the distribution of the population's beliefs about politics and
policy issues" (Edwards, Wattenberg, and Lineberry 150). On paper, it sounds so simple; in reality it
is much more difficult to determine. The most common method for ascertaining and consolidating
public opinion has been through the widespread use of polls. Their popularity has steadily increased
over the years. One reason is that they provide an accurate, reliable representation of the opinions of
an entire population and supply decision–makers with valuable insight that may be used to
determine a future course of action. However, not all polls are created equal. Polls...show more

Without a randomly selected sample, the results can only be applied to the specific persons
questioned (Blake 1). This is why results from polls that allow self–selection, such as those found on
the web, or in your mailbox, automatically demand a higher level of scrutiny and skepticism.
Wording and ordering of interview questions is another area that demands major attention.
Words, terms and phrases should be stated and ordered in such a way as to create as little room for
bias as possible, and should be presented, in full, with the polling results (Blake 2). Question
wording has been called the "biggest source of bias and error in data", and is therefore an aspect of
polling that will always leave room for criticism (Gallup 4). Occasional ill–wording of questions is
tolerable, if not unavoidable, as long as it is not obviously meant to tilt the results or prompt a
certain response.
However, it is not unheard of nor is it uncommon for such polling practices to occur. Some attempts
to persuade are definitely more malicious in nature than others. This is the subject of the article
"When Push Comes to Poll", by Larry Sabato and Glenn Simpson. They outline several types of
sneaky polling practices. But, by far, Sabato and Simpson agree that "negative persuasive" polls are
the worst! These polls target a specific

Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your
mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The
truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in
the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can
explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses.
Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before
taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and
unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I
struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to
the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class
that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the
whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for
navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I
have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in
English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

What Is The Difference Between Opinion And Fact?
CHAPTER 1: What is an Essay? 1. What is the difference between opinion and fact? A: An
opinion is a belief on what seems true and probable. It is an idea or judgment based on a subject
and is not based on positive knowledge. On the other hand, a fact is something that is true and
can be proven with positive knowledge. A fact cannot be used as the main topic of an essay
whereas an opinion can. 2. How important are facts in an essay. A: Facts are crucial in an essay;
especially those with a specialized subject. The facts are the solid information which proves your
idea/opinion. Although some subjects may need a little more or less facts, every essay needs
solid information to support one's belief. If an essay is only based on your thoughts, then no
other source will be available to support your ideas. Therefore, all essays with the motive to
persuade are crucial to have evidence to back one's judgment of a subject. 3. Is one opinion as
good as another? Explain your answer. A: Some opinions are better than another. Depending on
many factors, one opinion can be better to write an essay than the other. First of all, opinions
which demand a more detailed response is better than those with a simple "yes" or "no" answer.
Also, good topics should have a lot of people opposing to your idea. (There should be a lot of
controversy from the other side.) If everyone agrees with your opinion, then you know it isn't a great
topic to write an essay about. 4. Assuming that the writer has

not need to waste time searching for countless of books just to obtain information needed. In
addition, the Internet brings the world one step ahead in education as students can attain knowledge

Reflection Paper On Politics
Reflecting about what I think and talk about most often, usually consists of politics and my future.
I often think and talk about politics because I want others to be aware of the pressing issues in
society, I am concerned about politics and I have a desire to learn about what shapes my political
beliefs. As a political science major, I discuss politics with pretty much anyone who wants to listen
because it is important for everyone to have a basic understanding about government and the issues
in society. our current political system, I a generally concerned about the lasting effects of the
current administration on the future of the United States. In many of my classes, my professors
remind me of the issues that plague our country which...show more content...
While I would love to plan my future, I understand that God is the writer of my life story. Once I
have faith in God to take hold the reigns of my life, only then can I be truly happy and satisfied.
Optimistically speaking, I am excited about what the future holds and what I can do to make a
lasting difference in the world.
Typically, my time is spent either working on schoolwork or going on adventures with friends. The
fact that I spend a large amount of time doing homework shows, in terms of my worldview, that; I
value my education, I do not want to let my family down and that I have a passion to learn. My
father is a fifth–grade teacher so from an early age I had been taught to value my education. Since
education was clearly something that my father valued, I adopted his value as my own and even
his expectations. At times, my friends and family do not understand why I am stressed out all the
time. Over the years, I developed an innate skill of putting a ton of pressure on myself to do well.
Ever since I can remember, I have had a passion to learn about social sciences and history. Being
at Whitworth, I am surrounded by people who have a passion to learn which makes me a better
student. At times, I give up. But my friends push me to keep going and pursue my passion. Like
most students, I place a high priority on doing schoolwork even if that means staying up past
midnight to complete it. At this point in my life, my real purpose is to study and achieve

  • 3. My Personal Opinion Essay For as long as I can remember I have been told to constantly strive for more and never settle for less. It wasn't until one day when I decided to chauffeur a few friends to a local creek that I began to change my personal opinion in regards to exceling in the workplace. During a conversation, my friends and I got on the topic on how each of us was doing. One of us said "I'm good, I'm not overwhelmed or underwhelmed." and someone responded, "so you're whelmed?" This simple and somewhat odd question caused me to think about things differently. I decided that the idea of "whelmed" can be defined as being completely content with the current state of your life and self, be it physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and financially. The idea of being "whelmed" caused me to wonder why it isn't okay, to just be okay. I believe that the society that we live in has conditioned us to believe that more is better and happiness is only achieved when you have the most recent top of the line inanimate object and enough left over money to splurge on things you don't need. That way of thinking has caused America to become an individualistic society. You hear the phrases "This is a dog eat dog world" and "fend for yourself" and it shows that there is an underlying drive to make it to the "top". And once you finally get to the top that is when you are successful. But if you're not fighting to get there then you are doing something wrong. This nonstop fight to excel in the workplace Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Public Opinion On Politics And Politics Public Opinion Influences Democracy Public opinion greatly shapes the democracy of our country. The Public opinion is the people's interests and actions. It can be swayed by common linkages such as: media, interest groups, elections, and political parties. These linkages are channels by which government becomes aware of the public opinion. Public opinion is different from the Mass opinion by which the mass opinion is the majority vote/decision. Key's theory states that it is in fact the public's opinion that keeps leaders and policy connected. "He believed that the public's opinion keeps leaders from straying too far outside the parameters acceptable to the people in the making of policy" (Key's introduction, 419). V.O. Key's theory of the Public Opinion and AmericanDemocracy relates to what we are currently enduring in our nation's process of choosing an electoral candidate to become the next political leader. For it is not the elites decision to choose the next elite in power, it's the people's choice for whom they decide should be their next leader. The public opinion is shown prominently through the media. The media is able to use false advertisements and show political speeches promising "unrealistic expectations" that draw in the public. Magazines and newscasts are showing fake depictions of the electoral candidates that the public sees They then are able to make unfair judgements about them. "The observation of a few American Political campaigns might lead one to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. What makes a good teacher? Essay In my opinion, a good teacher should be one who puts her heart into teaching. This is because only by doing so will the students feel their passion and hard work. When a teacher strives hard for the students, students will put in their effort as well. If a teacher dislikes her job, goes to classes in a bad mood, her teaching would also be affected and students would not be able to enjoy lessons as well. Another point that makes a good teacher would be his/her patience. Teachers should not get upset or even worse, give up on the students who are not so strong in their studies. Instead, they should have the patience to slowly coach them, give them extra lessons, and find different ways to encourage them. Let them know that the teacher...show more content... It would be better if the teacher is able to find common topics to chat with the students. This would let the students feel like they can relate better to the teacher. "You must not give up. I want to let you know that even if you're facing so many problems, and feel like there's no one to talk to, I'll be here for you. Everyone else might want to be the sun that lights up your life, but I rather be the moon that guides you through your darkest hours. Let's strive hard and work toward our goal together!" This was what my high school teacher told me 10 years ago and I have remembered it until now, and will remember it for the next 10 years and so on. I was once a problematic kid who mixed with bad company and flunk tests. I never thought about what I was going to do the next day, what more when I grew up. Of course when I was younger, I had lots of dreams. I wanted to set up my own company, I wanted to be a teacher, I wanted to be able to drive an airplane and the list went on. But as the years went by, they became less insignificant to me and soon, I forgot every single one of those dreams and goals. I got to a new school and knew friends who smoke and took drugs. My grades started dropping from "A" to fails. But I did not care. I could not be bothered by then. I went partying every night and got home drunk. What was the point of studying? • 6. My Definition of Success Essay example "Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value." – Albert Einstein –– My personal definition would not include "stuff" at all. No one will care (and neither will you) what kind of car your drove or how big your house was when you're on your deathbed. Your thoughts will not be about your job, the office or how much money you made. Personal success is defined by how content and enjoyable your life is. That is not to say that challenges and disappointments aren't included in this. A rich, eventful and challenging life doing what you enjoy and positively affecting others seems to me to be just about right. Find a job you love and you'll never work another day in your life. I know I won't. In my...show more content... Past, present and future are all important to keep in perspective. Looking back and not having regrets is extremely satisfying. Your current situation and your contentment with it are also very important, and having goals and milestones to work toward in the future keeps you motivated and keeps life interesting and challenging. In this age in which we live, success is generally measured by the amount of money you earn, or the amount of wealth or power or number of promotions you've accumulated. I find that the older I grow, the more I view the people who are most happy and content with their lives as the most successful. Rich, poor or in between, they've tended to treat life as a journey, not a final destination. They took that trip when they were 25 even though they really couldn't afford it, they ordered the $55 bottle of wine with their filet because they knew that even though it was expensive it would enhance the meal so much more than water would. They took a chance on a start–up company, moved to Europe or Asia and experienced things that most people only dream about. If they managed to grow wealthy from the experience, so much the better. As long as moderation with most things is practiced, things won't spin out of control. Bottom line rules for a successful life: Always try new things. Listen twice as much as you talk. Travel as much as you can comfortably afford. Faith and family always come first – Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Community Needs Assessment Essay Research Method Paper A Community Needs Assessment Research is conducted in a variety of different ways using different methods and methodologies. How these methods are used is imperative to how clear and accurate research will be. Community needs assessment is a research method used by many researchers that assists in finding gaps within a particular target group within a particular community. Throughout this paper I will discuss what a community needs assessment is and when and how it is used. I will also discuss some of the strengths and limitations of this method. I then continue to explain some theoretical and practical perspectives when dealing with this method and how it would apply when conducting your own research in a...show more content... When conducting a needs assessment, people's needs with in the community are assessed to see where gaps lie and improvements can be made. If carried out and reported correctly these needs are then bought to local government or relevant organisations/peoples attention, giving the opportunity for programs to be put in place to benefit the people of the community. This is where the third step of Finifter, Jensen, Wilson & Koenig (2005) process comes into place; the implementation of projects to assist where the gaps were found. "Implementation of recommended solutions should be the ultimate goal of any project to improve services and quality of life of a target population (Neely, T R)." The more efficient all three steps are carried out the stronger this method becomes. "The importance of disseminating results effectively using these guidelines cannot be stressed enough. A needs assessment will have achieved nothing if the results are not communicated effectively (Neely, T R)." Theoretically, community needs assessments are a great way to identify gaps within communities and improving the life of individuals within a target group. • 8. Argumentative Essay On Online Dating Over the past decade, online dating popularity has increase drastically. Even though the younger generation of society is in the transition from traditional to modern dating, people of all ages are beginning to test the modern way of communicating: online dating. Many people are curious if online dating is the best way to search for a partner in today's society. Is online dating actually the most successful way to find "the one"? Many people do not feel comfortable admitting that they participate in online dating simple because they are unsure of how society will judge them. Society is gradually becoming aware of the idea and accepting the newest form of dating and courting. How successful is this modern dating and how does it compare to traditional dating techniques? The world is such an enormous place, making traditional dating difficult to meet the number of people which online dating sites provide (Nicholson, 2014). Individuals may access partners with specific interests that may include lifestyle, personality, and orientation (Nicholson, 2014). A variety of dating sites offer matching tests, which theoretically help connect two individuals quicker than if they searched with the traditional method (Nicholson, 2014). People realize how effortless it is to search for a partner and immediately fall in love with the process. Online dating provides the opportunity for individuals to gain more personal information about the person prior to meeting face to face (Nicholson, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Opinion Poll Essay Another factor to note is the influence of opinion polls. Parties that gain popular support during campaigns may have benefited from "the bandwagon effect", (Kay, 1997). Some undecided voters may look at opinion polls, and other polling data to decide where the political parties stand relative to each other. The various opinion polls conducted seem to indicate that Alberta was to be an NDP province as the campaign neared its later stages. There were several pre–election polls conducted in the province that showed the roughly even amount of support between all three parties. However, the Progressive Conservative's did hold an early lead at the start of the campaign, leading some to believe that they would be re–elected. As the campaign...show more content... In addition, Jim Prentice unsuccessfully attempted to convince the Albertans on the importance of such economic blueprint. The early election call made it possible for the NDP to take an advantage of an unpopular budget. By calling an early election, Jim Prentice was trying to take advantage of the political environment. The PC government were facing a declining approval rate and Jim Prentice had hoped that an early election would provide his government with a new mandate and more years in power. Yet, voters were tired of the PC's budget deficits and lack of vision, and scandals, which provided the NDP the opportunity to offer voters an alternative solution, (Leeson, 2015). These events made the NDP's appear even more attractive to voters as a new approach to governing. Leadership The image of Jim Prentice has been mentioned on most occasions as a reason why Albertans withdrew their support from the long–governing PCs. The then government led by Mr. Prentice had received poor reputation and this led to the defeat of his government. Jim Prentice was seen as an elite that was out of touch with the common, everyday Albertan, (Sayers and Stewart, 2016). As a result of this, many voters defected from the PC party and supported other options instead. This was an adequate indication that the party was losing its popularity while NDP was gaining. Also, theNew Democratic Party accused the incumbent government of Jim Prentice of poor fiscal policy due to his Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 13. Website Review Essay After visiting and examining the PBS Web site, I was able to conclude that it is an extremely successful entertainment and educational site. The Web site has won many substantial awards, including the prestigious "Webbie Award" in 1998 and 1999. According to a recent survey, fifty –six percent of users at the PBS Web site are male and sixty percent are between the ages of eighteen and forty–four. Forty–four percent of the Web site users have children and fifty–seven percent make online purchases. (Gallup/Plaw Release: Survey of 40,000 Internet Users. Fall 1998.) • 14. Teenagers On After-school Jobs Essays Almost every teenager wants a job, yet many people are against it. I believe teenagers should have after–school jobs for a number of reasons. First, having a son or a daughter that works can financially help the parents. Also, the experience the teenager will acquire from after–school jobs will help him or her on future jobs. Finally, teenagers should have after–school jobs because it will keep them away from trouble. Parents should realize that as long as their son or daughter wants an after–school job and it does not affect his or her performance at school, they should let their child have one.      Usually, families that have financial problems have their teenage children go to work. Having an extra family...show more content... By having a job a teenager can save up for college, to buy a car, to buy a stereo, etc. Teenagers feel 'free' when they have a job: they can spend their own money on whatever they want without feeling guilty. In addition to helping his family, having a job at an early age can help for future jobs.      When many people apply for an important job, the employer will most likely choose the person who has the most working experience. People who have had a job since their teenage years will know how to deal with the stress and the work better than new people. They will be able to cope with job–related problems. This reason is very significant for teenagers who choose not to go to college, and their only reason for getting employed is experience. Yet, the most important reason is that jobs keep teenagers away from violence.       Jobs are very time–consuming. If a teenager works and goes to school, he will probably not have time to join a gang or get into fights. Nowadays more and more employees are getting drug–tested at their jobs. If a teenager likes his job or needs to work, he will not do drugs because he will get fired. Furthermore, if a teenager receives a paycheck he will spend his earned money instead of stealing. A job can lead a teenager to a better lifestyle and a healthier life.      I think teenagers should have after–school jobs. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Critique Essay Examples Critique Essay of Process and Learning Out of all the projects for this course, I think the critique paper was the hardest because it challenged how I thought about scientific journals when it came to identifying weak parts of a study and how to critique the strengths and weaknesses within those articles in a scientific manner. As a result, my writing process was affected by this in depth look into each of the three articles I chose on stroke rehabilitation with a focus on virtual reality, and my understanding of science writing grew with this paper. For the proposal between my partner, Alicia Buettner, and I, we decided to find something that related to each of our health profession majors. Our research for the proposal revealed the importance of occupational and physical therapists working together in the field and the changing technology in prostheses within rehabilitation treatment. With both topics in mind, we chose to have our proposal addressing the need for occupational therapy (OT) and physical therapy (PT) students working together in a class at the University of Findlay that also focused on prostheses. After deciding on a topic for our proposal, the next step in the writing process was following the break down for each section of the proposal that you, the professor, provided our peers and us in the classroom. By discussing the content required for each of the sections in the proposal and the correct formats we were to be using during class time, my partner and I were able to gain a grasp on what you were requiring from our proposal. For example, Alicia and I spent a great deal of time looking over the notes we wrote down from the board to make sure we were following the correct guidelines for each section. The mini assignments also helped in reassuring that Alicia and I were on the correct path for the proposal. With each Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Essay on Opinion on Abortion Opinion on Abortion My own opinion of abortion is very varied. There are so many different reasons for abortions. Every woman who has had one will have had reasons. I am sure they wouldn't have decided in a few minutes that they were going to abort their baby. They would have thought long and hard about what to do. I put myself in the position of someone else. If I got pregnant now would I really be able to keep it. I would, for one, have to stop school and miss out on the education I would need to bring up a child. I probably wouldn't be able to cope with the emotional pressures and cope with the pain of giving birth. It all seems so easy before you see it through someone else's eyes. Women...show more content... Today, abortion is illegal in very few countries–even those with religious beliefs and traditions. During the 1960s and 1970s many governments relaxed their abortion laws and made it easier for women to terminate unwanted pregnancies. In a few countries such as the Soviet Union abortion is seen as an alternative to contraception. In China women are forced to have abortions because of the one–child–per–family policy. This policy is aimed at reducing the country's overpopulation problems. Reasons for abortions with different circumstances If you are thinking that there are no valid reasons for abortion, just imagine a fourteen year old girl who has been raped. How can she be expected to get on with her life and ever recover if she has a baby? How can she receive a full education? Every time she looks at the baby, she will be reminded of her terrible experience. In some countries, for example, Russia and China, there is an absence of family planning. Abortion is used as a form of birth control. In Russia, a woman has on average four or five abortions in her lifetime. In China there are over ten million abortions annually. I think that the amount of money spent on abortions in these countries could be better spent on promoting contraceptives and family planning. I do not agree Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. The Use of Polls to Analyze Public Opinion in Politics Public opinion is defined in the text as "the distribution of the population's beliefs about politics and policy issues" (Edwards, Wattenberg, and Lineberry 150). On paper, it sounds so simple; in reality it is much more difficult to determine. The most common method for ascertaining and consolidating public opinion has been through the widespread use of polls. Their popularity has steadily increased over the years. One reason is that they provide an accurate, reliable representation of the opinions of an entire population and supply decision–makers with valuable insight that may be used to determine a future course of action. However, not all polls are created equal. Polls...show more content... Without a randomly selected sample, the results can only be applied to the specific persons questioned (Blake 1). This is why results from polls that allow self–selection, such as those found on the web, or in your mailbox, automatically demand a higher level of scrutiny and skepticism. Wording and ordering of interview questions is another area that demands major attention. Words, terms and phrases should be stated and ordered in such a way as to create as little room for bias as possible, and should be presented, in full, with the polling results (Blake 2). Question wording has been called the "biggest source of bias and error in data", and is therefore an aspect of polling that will always leave room for criticism (Gallup 4). Occasional ill–wording of questions is tolerable, if not unavoidable, as long as it is not obviously meant to tilt the results or prompt a certain response. However, it is not unheard of nor is it uncommon for such polling practices to occur. Some attempts to persuade are definitely more malicious in nature than others. This is the subject of the article "When Push Comes to Poll", by Larry Sabato and Glenn Simpson. They outline several types of sneaky polling practices. But, by far, Sabato and Simpson agree that "negative persuasive" polls are the worst! These polls target a specific Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Reflection On My English 101 Experience Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. • 19. What Is The Difference Between Opinion And Fact? CHAPTER 1: What is an Essay? 1. What is the difference between opinion and fact? A: An opinion is a belief on what seems true and probable. It is an idea or judgment based on a subject and is not based on positive knowledge. On the other hand, a fact is something that is true and can be proven with positive knowledge. A fact cannot be used as the main topic of an essay whereas an opinion can. 2. How important are facts in an essay. A: Facts are crucial in an essay; especially those with a specialized subject. The facts are the solid information which proves your idea/opinion. Although some subjects may need a little more or less facts, every essay needs solid information to support one's belief. If an essay is only based on your thoughts, then no other source will be available to support your ideas. Therefore, all essays with the motive to persuade are crucial to have evidence to back one's judgment of a subject. 3. Is one opinion as good as another? Explain your answer. A: Some opinions are better than another. Depending on many factors, one opinion can be better to write an essay than the other. First of all, opinions which demand a more detailed response is better than those with a simple "yes" or "no" answer. Also, good topics should have a lot of people opposing to your idea. (There should be a lot of controversy from the other side.) If everyone agrees with your opinion, then you know it isn't a great topic to write an essay about. 4. Ever since I can remember, I have had a passion to learn about social sciences and history. Being at Whitworth, I am surrounded by people who have a passion to learn which makes me a better student.
