What Defines a Person
Michael Garcia English 101 Prof. Toro 10/30/11 Essay #3 Douglas Cater, a journalist and practitioner of government power, once said, "The
communications media in America carry on an enterprise more fundamental even than formal education to the well being of an open society." In the
last 50 years media influence has grown significantly with the advance of technology. There are so many ways in which to communicate including
telephone, email, and television. Perhaps the most fundamental element of our education is through the use of TV, most notably with America's
children. Nowadays the most likely place to find an adolescent is in front of the TV screen rather than outside playing. The media's influence on an
open society is...show more content...
Both of these ideals are essential to the well being of an open society, and are distinctively American ways of thinking. Teenagers are rebellious by
nature so they tend to watch rebellious TV shows that include cruel humor and make fun of popular culture topics that they are introduced to in school.
South Park informs America's youth that they have the right to choose whether or not they want to have an opinion on something, and that if they
really care about something they need to strive towards reaching that goal. It's important to look more deeply into comedic TV shows because they
serve a much greater purpose than simply entertainment. The fact that South Park is so entertaining and informs American youth of the elements of
American government society at the same time adds to its appeal and is part of the reason why the show is so popular. Consider Carl Matheson's
essay: "The Simpsons, Hyper–Irony, and the Meaning of Life". His writing is quite convoluted: going through seven pages of digressions, including
one about painting, quotationalism, and the idea of the crisis of authority, until he reaches his main point in the article which is to define hyper–irony
in The Simpsons. He defines hyper–irony as making cruel fun of something in the most cynical way possible, only to then undercut the cynicism itself
to show your cynicism is just as questionable as the thing you're making fun of. Basically, hyper–irony is the condition of always questioning your
stance

Personal Essay : My Personal Qualities
My Personal Qualities
Over the course, I have learned that all people are unique and have their own personal traits and qualities. One person does not just simply fall into
one category, but various categories. What is beautiful about all of us is that we all have diverse personalities, traits and qualities. I have learned that
we should be proud of and embrace these unique qualities of ours.
As a perfectionist, I like to present my things beautifully and creatively, and it is clearly seen on my collage. I appreciate beautiful things and this is
why I got beauty/aesthetics as one of my highest totals on the values survey. On my collage, I put a picture of a microscope, with the circular flask and
test tubes. I also...show more content...
I know and I have been told that I am a kind and sympathetic person, because I love to help people and put a smile on their faces. Even when someone
is being rude, I try to "kill them with kindness" in return. I used the quote: "Beauty isn't about having a pretty face. It is about having a pretty mind, a
pretty heart, and most importantly, a beautiful soul". I chose to use this quote because I adore it and I go by it. What matters most is in the inside, not
on the outside. I think people sometimes, even me, get too caught up and try too hard to look beautiful, but they don't focus on personality.
A) I expected to get artistic, creative and investigative as my results on surveys that I took, because I already knew I had these traits as a part of my
personality. However, the results from mylearning styles survey were a little surprising to me. I got visual as my highest total score, while kinesthetic
and auditory were almost balanced out scores. The reason why I was a little surprised was that last year, I took a survey to figure out my learning
style, and I got both auditory and visual learner. The results have their little differences, but that shows people do change over time. Learning styles can
be learned and strengthened.
I learned plenty of things from my results. My values–which I didn't see clearly–are now clear, and I found out the little unique things that make up my
personality. From my personality survey, I am mostly artistic,

Qualities that Define a Hard Working Person What qualifies a person to be categorized as a "hard worker". He/She would have to be willing to do
the work, and not only do it, but do it right. Efficiency, things such as showing up on time, and getting the job done in a decent amount of time. A
person would have the knowledge to be able to do their work. Just as the cell is basic for life, being efficient is the basic factor of all hard workers.
This is extremely important, it ties in with the other factors of the hard worker. Bosses look for people who are efficient, people who get the job
done the best and fastest way. Efficiency is not only better and faster but it is also cheaper. I worked for a gentleman that always...show more content...
Does this person have the right skills to perform the job? An example I can think of is when I worked for a rental company. When I turned 18
years old, my employers told me I had to get my class E drivers license. Now this might not sound like a big deal but it was because if I did not get
it within five days of my 18th birthday I could not come back to work. The only way to get to work again was to pass the test and bring a verified
copy. This is a skill I had to obtain to work this job. Other such skills required of me was that I had to know how to pull trailers behind trucks, work
on and with heavy machinery such as bucket lifts, tractors, lawn mowers, and other such types of equipment. A knowledge base should not only
contain the skills needed to do the job but also some common sense. I say this meaning problem solving skills. For example if an engine is not
running this is how I would go about trying to make it run, my problem solving method. Remembering what I had been told about engines needing
three basic things,(fuel, oxygen, and fire) first I would check the gas, this sounds very elementary, but it is amazing how many people don't look at
this. If this turns out not to be the problem, next I would check the oil. Another of many simple things that people tend to over look. The third thing to
check would probably be the spark plug. Now granted these things are very simple but it is a good way of showing problem solving methods. The

Personal Characteristics Essay
There are many personal characteristics that can affect a person as an individual and his professional success, namely openness, ability to learn and
adapt etc. These personal characteristics can sometimes make a person successful and sometimes doesn't. As I spend more and more time as a
professional, I perceive that there are few characteristics that are essential for professional success: namely ambitious, creative and adaptable. These
characteristics come out in many different ways. Have you set your goals? Have you decided the path you have to take to pursue your goal? What
are the sacrifices you can do to achieve your ambition? How much can you think out of the box to resolve a particular issue or bring new idea to the
table? How...show more content...
This characteristic will motivate me to grow better in my future career as well. I believe that few people have a strong inner feeling that pushes them
to think out of the box to identify as issue and find the solution. Personally, I always try to find the most creative solution and do not give up until I get
it. Sometime this energy is contagious on to next. I always search for the missing links and fine–tune my thoughts until I reach a point that works. This
creativity has steadily driven my ambitions through the organization. Today the world is changing so rapidly and the way it has changed in last few
decades, it hasn't changed in last few hundred years. So adaptability has become the need of the hour. I believe that adaptability is the most important
quality of all, particularly if one is in technology industry. There have been times when this adaptability has changed the nomenclature of day and night
but it has also given me rewards at the appropriate times. Adaptability, personally, has created a far–reaching international outlook and I was able to
spend time, living outside my country of origin, working for UK retails giants and this stay not only diversified my work experience but also my
cultural experience. It has improved my exposure to diverse situations with increasing levels of complexity and this exposure has increased my
eagerness for new challenges. It has instigated a feeling in me that there

Clash Of Cultures
There are a lot of people around Belmont University with different concepts, different goals, different experiences, different cultures, but most
important, different methods of thinking. When I realized that I would need to write a profile of someone else, I thought it would be the easiest essay
that I have ever done. Contrary to my expectations, I realized that to write someone else's profile is kind of hard, because it is not only a simple thing
such as just write the entire life of the person. A lot of stuff is behind the profile of a person. When I first thought about who I should interview, I was

The guy that I am talking about is Andrew Gordon Conner, who has born on august 8 1992, and he is the person that organize my hall, and needs to
maintain the organization, like a security, known here in the U.S as R.A. I knew that he was a different guy with a lot of experiences for me to know,
but actually he was way more than that.
Andrew was born at Bangkok, Thailand. At the time he told me that, I became so interest to know about theculture, and all the differences between
there and here. The most interesting thing about Andrew is that he has already lived in few different places and knows a lot of different cultures.
He lived there in Bangkok until his six years old, and he had a good life there. He was used to live in a property where his family was the only
white family in the whole building, what for me, I think it would be kind of scary, but according to him, it was kind of normal for him and his
parents. His dad was used to work for a company back in Bangkok that when Andrew was six, the company changed place to Arizona, United States.
With six years, he had already challenged the difficulties of change home to another country, and especially the big change of culture.
Andrew was lucky to move when he was only six, because whenever you have more then ten years and had already made a lot of friends, and had
already gone to school, it would be much harder to get used to

I find it extremely tough to talk about myself and my personal traits. In order for me to dIscuss who I am in an accurate manner then I must provide
some basic background information on myself and talk about the Environment I grew up in. This way people can get a better understanding of why
I am the way I am. My Background is so essential In making me myself because If I had been born under any different circumstances or grew up any

differently than us then work together to figure out whose ideas will work the best and how to improve them.
Another factor that plays a part in why I am shaped how I am is my family's economic circumstances. I have always had access to anything I
needed and for that I have extreme gratitude because I know some people have a lot of difficulty in life. Since I was born into a family with such
good economic circumstances I have been lucky to have lots of opportunities. One Opportunity I had as a child was participating in taekwondo. I
did taekwondo until I reached a blackbelt which took years of hardwork and dedication. I had to memorize forms, Spar with other competitors and
break boards in order to continue to move up to the next level. Taekwondo also helped keep me in good shape and fit when I was younger. Another
Opportunity I am grateful for is the skill of playing the piano. At first I was not all that enthusiastic about playing it but my parents has signed me up

I Must Describe My Attitude And Behavior
The way that I would describe my attitude and behavior when relating with people is alright in my opinion I believe that I do not come off as being
rude, as being caring, and sincere. The way that I would describe myself in stressful situations is that I tend to panic right away instead of stopping and
thinking what should I do to resolve this problem. Instead of panicking and stressing out right away maybe I should ask the other person what I should
do or what they would do. Non– Verbal Behavior : I would describe the messages that my nonverbal behavior send is that I act very approachable to
others, people always tell me that I am always happy and smiling, and that whenever people see me I am always smiling. Listening skills: The way
that I would describe myself when listening to others is first I let them speak to get their whole point across. I sometimes interrupt, and I also ask
questions, as well as pay close attention to what the person is saying but I also tend to dose off somewhere else, and I do get easily distracted by
noises, or other conversations. I sometimes tend to connect to my own experiences but, often take the focus off the other person and go on and on.
I would describe myself as being warm to people, but young people my age find me less approachable, because of my lack of confidence. But older
people children find me very approachable, kind, and warm that is because I am more confident with that age group. Some people have told me that

My mom's name is Lisa and she was a PTA but is now a stay at home mom. My dad's name is Luis and he was a chemical and nuclear engineer, but
now owns his own business. I have 3 sisters: Angie, Silencia, and Mahalia. I also have 3 brothers: Matthias, Geminiah, and Elshaddai. Angie works
with my dad to eventually take over the family business. The rest of my siblings are in school except for Elshaddai who is only 3. My family expects
me to be a good example to my younger siblings and encourage them. To do this they also expect me to do well in school and in athletics. My mom
is a very outgoing, loud, and energetic person. My dad is also very outgoing and loud, but he has more of a serious side to him. Angie is really fun,
but she also has a more relaxed personality. Mahalia is very loud, active, and argumentative. Silencia is the most soft–spoken and relaxed out of
everyone. Matthias is very outgoing, loud, and active. Geminiah and Elshaddai are both loud and very active. I have good relationships with
everyone in my family. I do have small disagreements with my siblings sometimes, but we all love each other a lot. I had a very unusual childhood,
but it was still fun. My childhood was unusual because it involved a lot of training but that's what we did together as a family, and growing up I had

I Am A Hard Working And Dedicated Student
In daily life the term personality is very freely used by people with different meanings. Some people refer to the physical appearance like height,
weight, color, body built, dress, voice, etc. Some other people refer to intellectual qualities like intelligence, activeness, way of speech, thinking
and reasoning abilities, etc. However our psychological definitions tell us that personality refers to individual differences in characteristic patterns
of thinking, feeling and behaving. The study of personality focuses on two broad areas: One is understanding individual differences in particular
personality characteristics, such as sociability or irritability. The other is understanding how the various parts of a person come together as a
whole. Emotions are the intense feelings that are directed at someone or something. I have never thought of what my personality is, so when i
was asked to write an essay on what my personality was it was just a great task for me to writing about my personality. Primarily, I am a hard
working and dedicated student. I 've always put my best in everything that I 've done academically. I am not the type of person who gets put up to
a big challenge and backs down. I will always rise to the peak of my production and accomplish my goal. On this description I will be describing
myself in a wide variety of personality traits that are good, and bad. Such as: enthusiastic, organized, not friendly , calm and my bad ones are having a

Descriptive Essay On Being Alone
Alone. My emotions all pertained to this word – : being neglected because I was different from others. My prickly exterior caused people to overlook
me. And my friends, let's just say I didn't have any. I never had an intention to hurt anyone, but this was who I was and the reason for my
loneliness. As days, months, even years passed, people ignored the true beauty in me. I was constantly left sitting alone in the cold, damp corner
with no one to interact with. This was my fate. My life was basically forlorn. I was going to be alone, forever. It wasn't until a sunny, summer day
when hope came in the form of hands picking me up from the dark place I was sitting. It was the first time someone examined me! This boy, my
new owner, had passion gleaming from his eyes: he was waiting for this moment to pick me up and take me home. But why me? Why after all this
waiting has someone finally chose me? After all, there were plenty of other plants at the store. Why a cactus? As he carried me back to his house I
began to worry. What if I was ignored and placed in the corner like at the store? There was a maelstrom of conflicts and apprehensions inside me, but
as we entered his home, it was empty. I was his first plant! Being the first plant in a house was a privilege, and it was unbelievable that a plant as
insignificant as me was given this privilege. My owner's hospitality was endless: I was constantly fed water when thirsty, fed fertilize r when
hungry, and given enough sunlight when cold to grow. It was like he could read my mind and gavegive me whatever I wanted, whenever I needed it.
The feeling of loneliness was fading away, and I felt as if I finally had someone who cared about me. Rather than judging my current deamor like the
rest of the customers, my owner saw my inner beauty, thus, forming an unbreakable bond between us. Being a cactus made it hard for me to fit in with
other plants, yet after all the time I spent with my owner–or should I say caretaker– I felt that everything was going to be fine, that was until... My
caretaker began to gain a passion for other plants, and when summer arrived there came a different plant every month ranging from trending tropical to
durable desert plants. His home was

Sadness. Some people will say they learned how to drive this summer, or they learned how to waterski. But I learned what sadness is.
My mum and I spent two weeks with my grandfather and grandmother this summer. I knew my grandfather's health was failing. I knew he wasn't
doing well. But I had absolutely no conception of how bad it was. He couldn't take ten steps without yelping in pain. He couldn't do much of anything
by himself. Those two weeks were spent helping my grandparents any way I possibly could, carrying my grandfather 's walker places, and playing
endless games of scrabble with him.

My eyes were clouded over and I just kept hearing the words that the principal had said over and over again. He had passed away. I didn't even know
him well, but the idea that he could just be gone terrified me. Now it was happening to my grandfather.
"How can someone just be gone?" I pleaded with my mum, but probably more with God than her. "How can someone be here one day, and then
gone the next?' Tears began to fill my eyes and cloud my vision. "How is it that someone dies when their body fails them? How is it that one day
Grandad will be gone, and I won't be able to talk to him anymore, or call him, or play scrabble with him? It's just not fair!"
I collapsed into tears while my mum pulled over. We just sat there for a while, both hugging each other andcrying our eyes out. There was so much
sadness in me. It was like a black hole, swallowing me up from the inside. It was an intense form of grief that I had never felt before. I would cry and
feel my whole body shaking, tears coming out of my eyes, but my soul also gasping inside of me, trying to throw out that black hole, but instead getting
consumed.
My mum's face streamed with tears. "I feel the same way," she whispered before falling into heart wrenching sobs, the same sobs that had been
haunting me for months, as she had been crying over her dad's

What is a Person? Essay
What is a Person?
What am I? On the surface, this question seems so ridiculously simple that one may feel that it is unnecessary to even supply a verbal answer. I am,
obviously, a human being, a person. However, when using this label "person" to describe myself, I am hurling myself into one of philosophy's most
heavily debated topics since the existence of mankind. The primary task when dealing philosophically with person, or "self", is to clarify what exactly
the term embodies and represents. As Taylor said, "Selves are, indeed, about the strangest inhabitants of nature that once can imagine—except
that, as sometimes described in philosophy, they are not even imaginable in the first place." Most people harbor no doubt...show more content...
Whether or not my conclusion will echo that of a materialist, mentalist, or something different altogether remains to be seen. As I initially ask myself to
define my personage, the phrase "I think, therefore I am" pops unsolicited into my mind. Descartes, an obvious mentalist, had a point when he muttered
these now–famous words. Indeed, a person is inarguably a thinking thing. If I were not, tasks like writing this paper would be irrelevant, not to
mention far less painstaking. The mind and its processes are indubitably things that make up what I consider my self. My mind is the machine that
produces my thoughts and ideas, and it houses the knowledge that allows me to reason logically, a characteristic that sets human beings apart from
other forms of life. I certainly don't think of a tree or a rock as a person, and that is because these objects show no signs of mental activity. The day
that I see a tree with a calculus book hanging from its branches computing the value of an integral is the day that I check myself into an asylum.
However, the power of my mind allows ME to solve that integral, and when I do, I am proud of mySELF. The actions of my mind define not only
how I view my own person, but also how others view me as a person. With this thought, my mind is intruded upon by another thought: other people
aren't seeing my MIND—they're seeing and reacting to my physical

What Makes A Good Person? Essay
If you asked a random person on the street "what is a good person?" or "what is the good life?" you would likely receive a different answer from
everyone. These answers would be different because everyone has their own ideas and opinions of what the answers should be. For many, a good
person is someone who lives a good life, is a Christian, or someone who helps other individuals. For some, a good person might be someone who
puts others first and someone who is reliable. The same applies to the answers you would receive from "what is the good life?" Just like everyone
had different opinions on what a good person is, they will also have different opinions on what the good life is. You might get answers ranging
from spending time with one's family to having a lot of money. These answers vary depending on the individuals values and world view. For some
individuals this desire for money can cause them to act on it, driving them to steal in order to gain happiness. Bronk supports this idea by stating,
"Our answers guide our actions, influence our decisions, and inspire our dreams" (2008, p.713). This paper will discuss how philosophers believe
everyone should live and what kind of people we should be, what a good person is, what the good life is, and what the relationship between
goodness and human reality is. How Ought We to Live and What Kind of People Should We Be? Individuals have different opinions on how people
should live and what kind of person they should be. This is

have white teeth, which brings out my smile. My siblings always make jokes about how big my nose is, but I honestly think that I have the cutest

between my left eyebrows and it makes me different. The color of my hair is brown, the texture is kinky and it is long and thick. I am 5'11 and I
weigh 195 pounds. I have broad shoulders and a full figured body. My favorite part about my physical body is my smile. Smiling brings out my
inner beauty and I love to smile a lot even when I am down. I can never go a day without smiling. I know that I can always smile even though I may
be hurt inside. I smile through my pain, and I know that smiling can brighten up someone else's day and that makes me feel good about myself. It
is good to smile because it can help others think about me in a positive way and not judge. It also draws people closer and they find it comforting and
warming. If I have a mean face all the time, people would not want to come around me. One's body is what makes us who we are as a person.
Self–image is not something a person is born with. In my opinion, self–image is built over a long period of experience and cultural background.

So, there I sat, seat G4 on the train headed to nowhere. I didn't have a destination; I never really did. I guess that's just the type of person I was,

However creepy, I always found this feature refreshing, in the way that one finds a black cat. I named this man Frank and created a story for him
when another man caught my eye. It was his coat. It was an expensive Ted Baker peacoat which was impressive for how young he was. I worked

He was walking fast, darting straight to the bathroom when his coat flap floated up. I couldn't believe what I saw; it looked like a homemade bomb
strapped to his chest. Spending the next few minutes convincing myself that what I just saw wasn't what I thought it was, I began to panic. Next

Describe yourself as a student and also your aspirations for the future. Please include examples from your personal academic and non–academic

am an explorative student. My passion for learning is the result of my mindset, in that aside from finding education a necessity, it is enjoyable,
challenging, and beneficial in fulfilling my future aspirations. For example, I find my Honors Advanced Mathematics class my most unique course. It
builds upon my ability to critically think, present data or information, and understand higher–level math at a rapid pace. In particular, it is the ability to
solve real–world situations and the underlying mystery mathematicians have yet to solve that intrigues me to continue learning. The class expects
much of me, but I am aware that it is preparing me for college– and university–level math while providing me with the skills to pursue a career in
Architectural/ Structural Engineering. Ambitious, I set objectives for myself and arrange to accomplish and excel in the process. For instance, I
participated in my middle school's academic decathlon with a chance to represent my school in the mathematics single–subject exam. In doing so, I
attempted to score a near perfect to perfect score. While the competition did not end the way I expected, I successfully gained a flawless score on the

various people, I've learned at a very young age to never judge people by how they look, dress, feel, or act. I am very fortunate to have learned
these lessons, because many people still do not understand the importance of accepting differences. In a group, I prefer to listen to what others have
to say, and then contribute to the discussion. I try to listen so I am able to compare them to my own thoughts. I enjoy working in a group, because it
gives everyone an opportunity to incorporate their own ideas. My social self is most greatly influenced by my family and friends. I believe that my
spiritual self is the most important out of the three. Although I have a certain religion that I belong to and practice, I believe in a bit of

Descriptive Essay About A Hero
When talking about a hero, some people might think of a veteran, a fire fighter, or even superman. The definition of the word "hero" varies
between different people; however, my definition of a hero is someone who is selfless, brave, and strong. Someone who doesn't runaway when
things get hard, who gives their all just for the wellbeing of others regardless of the strain it puts on themselves. When thinking of the word "hero"
the only person who comes to my mind is my cousin Cassy. Cassy fits my own personal description of a hero; she is selfless, brave, and strong.
She doesn't run away when things get tough and most importantly, she looks out for others no matter what the situation is. What is a hero to you?
On September 24th of 2017, my parents, along with my sister and I, walked into my grandma's house around three o'clock in the afternoon. My
aunt Patty had told us she had very important news for us to hear that evening. As we sat down in the living room of my grandma's small condo,
everybody looked at one another awkwardly waiting for someone to speak first. My mom started the conversation by asking how long my aunt was
going to be in town. My aunt slightly teared up as she tried to spit out her response. She began to tell us that she was actually moving back home to
Fargo from the farm place her and her boyfriend lived at near Devils Lake. My aunt started to stutter after a while and then finally blurted out the
sentence that nobody ever wants to hear come from a loved

What Defines A Person

  • 1. What Defines a Person Michael Garcia English 101 Prof. Toro 10/30/11 Essay #3 Douglas Cater, a journalist and practitioner of government power, once said, "The communications media in America carry on an enterprise more fundamental even than formal education to the well being of an open society." In the last 50 years media influence has grown significantly with the advance of technology. There are so many ways in which to communicate including telephone, email, and television. Perhaps the most fundamental element of our education is through the use of TV, most notably with America's children. Nowadays the most likely place to find an adolescent is in front of the TV screen rather than outside playing. The media's influence on an open society is...show more content... Both of these ideals are essential to the well being of an open society, and are distinctively American ways of thinking. Teenagers are rebellious by nature so they tend to watch rebellious TV shows that include cruel humor and make fun of popular culture topics that they are introduced to in school. South Park informs America's youth that they have the right to choose whether or not they want to have an opinion on something, and that if they really care about something they need to strive towards reaching that goal. It's important to look more deeply into comedic TV shows because they serve a much greater purpose than simply entertainment. The fact that South Park is so entertaining and informs American youth of the elements of American government society at the same time adds to its appeal and is part of the reason why the show is so popular. Consider Carl Matheson's essay: "The Simpsons, Hyper–Irony, and the Meaning of Life". His writing is quite convoluted: going through seven pages of digressions, including one about painting, quotationalism, and the idea of the crisis of authority, until he reaches his main point in the article which is to define hyper–irony in The Simpsons. He defines hyper–irony as making cruel fun of something in the most cynical way possible, only to then undercut the cynicism itself to show your cynicism is just as questionable as the thing you're making fun of. Basically, hyper–irony is the condition of always questioning your stance Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Personal Essay : My Personal Qualities My Personal Qualities Over the course, I have learned that all people are unique and have their own personal traits and qualities. One person does not just simply fall into one category, but various categories. What is beautiful about all of us is that we all have diverse personalities, traits and qualities. I have learned that we should be proud of and embrace these unique qualities of ours. As a perfectionist, I like to present my things beautifully and creatively, and it is clearly seen on my collage. I appreciate beautiful things and this is why I got beauty/aesthetics as one of my highest totals on the values survey. On my collage, I put a picture of a microscope, with the circular flask and test tubes. I also...show more content... I know and I have been told that I am a kind and sympathetic person, because I love to help people and put a smile on their faces. Even when someone is being rude, I try to "kill them with kindness" in return. I used the quote: "Beauty isn't about having a pretty face. It is about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart, and most importantly, a beautiful soul". I chose to use this quote because I adore it and I go by it. What matters most is in the inside, not on the outside. I think people sometimes, even me, get too caught up and try too hard to look beautiful, but they don't focus on personality. A) I expected to get artistic, creative and investigative as my results on surveys that I took, because I already knew I had these traits as a part of my personality. However, the results from mylearning styles survey were a little surprising to me. I got visual as my highest total score, while kinesthetic and auditory were almost balanced out scores. The reason why I was a little surprised was that last year, I took a survey to figure out my learning style, and I got both auditory and visual learner. The results have their little differences, but that shows people do change over time. Learning styles can be learned and strengthened. I learned plenty of things from my results. My values–which I didn't see clearly–are now clear, and I found out the little unique things that make up my personality. From my personality survey, I am mostly artistic, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Qualities that Define a Hard Working Person What qualifies a person to be categorized as a "hard worker". He/She would have to be willing to do the work, and not only do it, but do it right. Efficiency, things such as showing up on time, and getting the job done in a decent amount of time. A person would have the knowledge to be able to do their work. Just as the cell is basic for life, being efficient is the basic factor of all hard workers. This is extremely important, it ties in with the other factors of the hard worker. Bosses look for people who are efficient, people who get the job done the best and fastest way. Efficiency is not only better and faster but it is also cheaper. I worked for a gentleman that always...show more content... Does this person have the right skills to perform the job? An example I can think of is when I worked for a rental company. When I turned 18 years old, my employers told me I had to get my class E drivers license. Now this might not sound like a big deal but it was because if I did not get it within five days of my 18th birthday I could not come back to work. The only way to get to work again was to pass the test and bring a verified copy. This is a skill I had to obtain to work this job. Other such skills required of me was that I had to know how to pull trailers behind trucks, work on and with heavy machinery such as bucket lifts, tractors, lawn mowers, and other such types of equipment. A knowledge base should not only contain the skills needed to do the job but also some common sense. I say this meaning problem solving skills. For example if an engine is not running this is how I would go about trying to make it run, my problem solving method. Remembering what I had been told about engines needing three basic things,(fuel, oxygen, and fire) first I would check the gas, this sounds very elementary, but it is amazing how many people don't look at this. If this turns out not to be the problem, next I would check the oil. Another of many simple things that people tend to over look. The third thing to check would probably be the spark plug. Now granted these things are very simple but it is a good way of showing problem solving methods. The Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Personal Characteristics Essay There are many personal characteristics that can affect a person as an individual and his professional success, namely openness, ability to learn and adapt etc. These personal characteristics can sometimes make a person successful and sometimes doesn't. As I spend more and more time as a professional, I perceive that there are few characteristics that are essential for professional success: namely ambitious, creative and adaptable. These characteristics come out in many different ways. Have you set your goals? Have you decided the path you have to take to pursue your goal? What are the sacrifices you can do to achieve your ambition? How much can you think out of the box to resolve a particular issue or bring new idea to the table? How...show more content... This characteristic will motivate me to grow better in my future career as well. I believe that few people have a strong inner feeling that pushes them to think out of the box to identify as issue and find the solution. Personally, I always try to find the most creative solution and do not give up until I get it. Sometime this energy is contagious on to next. I always search for the missing links and fine–tune my thoughts until I reach a point that works. This creativity has steadily driven my ambitions through the organization. Today the world is changing so rapidly and the way it has changed in last few decades, it hasn't changed in last few hundred years. So adaptability has become the need of the hour. I believe that adaptability is the most important quality of all, particularly if one is in technology industry. There have been times when this adaptability has changed the nomenclature of day and night but it has also given me rewards at the appropriate times. Adaptability, personally, has created a far–reaching international outlook and I was able to spend time, living outside my country of origin, working for UK retails giants and this stay not only diversified my work experience but also my cultural experience. It has improved my exposure to diverse situations with increasing levels of complexity and this exposure has increased my eagerness for new challenges. It has instigated a feeling in me that there Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Essay on Profile of a Person Raphael Colmanette 1 Dr.McDonough 10/16 First Year Writing Clash Of Cultures There are a lot of people around Belmont University with different concepts, different goals, different experiences, different cultures, but most important, different methods of thinking. When I realized that I would need to write a profile of someone else, I thought it would be the easiest essay that I have ever done. Contrary to my expectations, I realized that to write someone else's profile is kind of hard, because it is not only a simple thing such as just write the entire life of the person. At the time he told me that, I became so interest to know about theculture, and all the differences between there and here. The most interesting thing about Andrew is that he has already lived in few different places and knows a lot of different cultures. He lived there in Bangkok until his six years old, and he had a good life there. He was used to live in a property where his family was the only white family in the whole building, what for me, I think it would be kind of scary, but according to him, it was kind of normal for him and his parents. His dad was used to work for a company back in Bangkok that when Andrew was six, the company changed place to Arizona, United States. With six years, he had already challenged the difficulties of change home to another country, and especially the big change of culture. Andrew was lucky to move when he was only six, because whenever you have more then ten years and had already made a lot of friends, and had already gone to school, it would be much harder to get used to Get more content on HelpWriting.net

For example, in school when we work in group projects we collaborate and communicate with people who think differently than us then work together to figure out whose ideas will work the best and how to improve them. Another factor that plays a part in why I am shaped how I am is my family's economic circumstances. I Must Describe My Attitude And Behavior The way that I would describe my attitude and behavior when relating with people is alright in my opinion I believe that I do not come off as being rude, as being caring, and sincere. The way that I would describe myself in stressful situations is that I tend to panic right away instead of stopping and thinking what should I do to resolve this problem. Instead of panicking and stressing out right away maybe I should ask the other person what I should do or what they would do. Non– Verbal Behavior : I would describe the messages that my nonverbal behavior send is that I act very approachable to others, people always tell me that I am always happy and smiling, and that whenever people see me I am always smiling. Listening skills: The way that I would describe myself when listening to others is first I let them speak to get their whole point across. I sometimes interrupt, and I also ask questions, as well as pay close attention to what the person is saying but I also tend to dose off somewhere else, and I do get easily distracted by noises, or other conversations. I sometimes tend to connect to my own experiences but, often take the focus off the other person and go on and on. Some people refer to the physical appearance like height, weight, color, body built, dress, voice, etc. Some other people refer to intellectual qualities like intelligence, activeness, way of speech, thinking and reasoning abilities, etc. However our psychological definitions tell us that personality refers to individual differences in characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. The study of personality focuses on two broad areas: One is understanding individual differences in particular personality characteristics, such as sociability or irritability. The other is understanding how the various parts of a person come together as a whole. Emotions are the intense feelings that are directed at someone or something. I have never thought of what my personality is, so when i was asked to write an essay on what my personality was it was just a great task for me to writing about my personality. • 10. Descriptive Essay On Being Alone Alone. My emotions all pertained to this word – : being neglected because I was different from others. My prickly exterior caused people to overlook me. And my friends, let's just say I didn't have any. I never had an intention to hurt anyone, but this was who I was and the reason for my loneliness. As days, months, even years passed, people ignored the true beauty in me. I was constantly left sitting alone in the cold, damp corner with no one to interact with. This was my fate. My life was basically forlorn. I was going to be alone, forever. It wasn't until a sunny, summer day when hope came in the form of hands picking me up from the dark place I was sitting. It was the first time someone examined me! This boy, my new owner, had passion gleaming from his eyes: he was waiting for this moment to pick me up and take me home. But why me? Why after all this waiting has someone finally chose me? After all, there were plenty of other plants at the store. Why a cactus? As he carried me back to his house I began to worry. What if I was ignored and placed in the corner like at the store? There was a maelstrom of conflicts and apprehensions inside me, but as we entered his home, it was empty. I was his first plant! Being the first plant in a house was a privilege, and it was unbelievable that a plant as insignificant as me was given this privilege. My owner's hospitality was endless: I was constantly fed water when thirsty, fed fertilize r when hungry, and given enough sunlight when cold to grow. It was like he could read my mind and gavegive me whatever I wanted, whenever I needed it. The feeling of loneliness was fading away, and I felt as if I finally had someone who cared about me. Rather than judging my current deamor like the rest of the customers, my owner saw my inner beauty, thus, forming an unbreakable bond between us. Being a cactus made it hard for me to fit in with other plants, yet after all the time I spent with my owner–or should I say caretaker– I felt that everything was going to be fine, that was until... My caretaker began to gain a passion for other plants, and when summer arrived there came a different plant every month ranging from trending tropical to durable desert plants. My mum and I spent two weeks with my grandfather and grandmother this summer. I knew my grandfather's health was failing. I knew he wasn't doing well. But I had absolutely no conception of how bad it was. He couldn't take ten steps without yelping in pain. He couldn't do much of anything by himself. Those two weeks were spent helping my grandparents any way I possibly could, carrying my grandfather 's walker places, and playing endless games of scrabble with him. I pleaded with my mum, but probably more with God than her. "How can someone be here one day, and then gone the next?' Tears began to fill my eyes and cloud my vision. "How is it that someone dies when their body fails them? How is it that one day Grandad will be gone, and I won't be able to talk to him anymore, or call him, or play scrabble with him? It's just not fair!" I collapsed into tears while my mum pulled over. We just sat there for a while, both hugging each other andcrying our eyes out. There was so much sadness in me. It was like a black hole, swallowing me up from the inside. It was an intense form of grief that I had never felt before. I would cry and feel my whole body shaking, tears coming out of my eyes, but my soul also gasping inside of me, trying to throw out that black hole, but instead getting consumed. My mum's face streamed with tears. "I feel the same way," she whispered before falling into heart wrenching sobs, the same sobs that had been haunting me for months, as she had been crying over her dad's Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. What is a Person? Essay What is a Person? What am I? On the surface, this question seems so ridiculously simple that one may feel that it is unnecessary to even supply a verbal answer. I am, obviously, a human being, a person. However, when using this label "person" to describe myself, I am hurling myself into one of philosophy's most heavily debated topics since the existence of mankind. The primary task when dealing philosophically with person, or "self", is to clarify what exactly the term embodies and represents. As Taylor said, "Selves are, indeed, about the strangest inhabitants of nature that once can imagine—except that, as sometimes described in philosophy, they are not even imaginable in the first place." Most people harbor no doubt...show more content... Whether or not my conclusion will echo that of a materialist, mentalist, or something different altogether remains to be seen. As I initially ask myself to define my personage, the phrase "I think, therefore I am" pops unsolicited into my mind. Descartes, an obvious mentalist, had a point when he muttered these now–famous words. Indeed, a person is inarguably a thinking thing. If I were not, tasks like writing this paper would be irrelevant, not to mention far less painstaking. The mind and its processes are indubitably things that make up what I consider my self. My mind is the machine that produces my thoughts and ideas, and it houses the knowledge that allows me to reason logically, a characteristic that sets human beings apart from other forms of life. I certainly don't think of a tree or a rock as a person, and that is because these objects show no signs of mental activity. The day that I see a tree with a calculus book hanging from its branches computing the value of an integral is the day that I check myself into an asylum. However, the power of my mind allows ME to solve that integral, and when I do, I am proud of mySELF. The actions of my mind define not only how I view my own person, but also how others view me as a person. With this thought, my mind is intruded upon by another thought: other people aren't seeing my MIND—they're seeing and reacting to my physical Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. What Makes A Good Person? Essay If you asked a random person on the street "what is a good person?" or "what is the good life?" you would likely receive a different answer from everyone. These answers would be different because everyone has their own ideas and opinions of what the answers should be. For many, a good person is someone who lives a good life, is a Christian, or someone who helps other individuals. For some, a good person might be someone who puts others first and someone who is reliable. The same applies to the answers you would receive from "what is the good life?" Just like everyone had different opinions on what a good person is, they will also have different opinions on what the good life is. You might get answers ranging from spending time with one's family to having a lot of money. These answers vary depending on the individuals values and world view. For some individuals this desire for money can cause them to act on it, driving them to steal in order to gain happiness. Bronk supports this idea by stating, "Our answers guide our actions, influence our decisions, and inspire our dreams" (2008, p.713). This paper will discuss how philosophers believe everyone should live and what kind of people we should be, what a good person is, what the good life is, and what the relationship between goodness and human reality is. How Ought We to Live and What Kind of People Should We Be? Individuals have different opinions on how people should live and what kind of person they should be. • 14. Description Of My Physical Body Describing my physical body, I have an oval head shape and I have fair skin complexion. My eyes are small and bright. My lips are puffy and big, I have white teeth, which brings out my smile. My siblings always make jokes about how big my nose is, but I honestly think that I have the cutest noise on earth. My nose is wide and curved. My eyebrows are not thick, but I love them and they make look different. This because I have a cut in between my left eyebrows and it makes me different. The color of my hair is brown, the texture is kinky and it is long and thick. I am 5'11 and I weigh 195 pounds. I have broad shoulders and a full figured body. My favorite part about my physical body is my smile. Smiling brings out my inner beauty and I love to smile a lot even when I am down. I can never go a day without smiling. I know that I can always smile even though I may be hurt inside. I smile through my pain, and I know that smiling can brighten up someone else's day and that makes me feel good about myself. It is good to smile because it can help others think about me in a positive way and not judge. It also draws people closer and they find it comforting and warming. If I have a mean face all the time, people would not want to come around me. One's body is what makes us who we are as a person. Self–image is not something a person is born with. In my opinion, self–image is built over a long period of experience and cultural background. Everyone is unique in his or her Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Descriptive Personal Experience Essay So, there I sat, seat G4 on the train headed to nowhere. I didn't have a destination; I never really did. I guess that's just the type of person I was, someone who just hopped on a train for the ride. I always liked trains. I don't know what it was about them, but for some reason or another, I always found myself lounging in the same spot drinking hot cocoa. People always said that hot chocolate "was only for kids" but I never got that; I had a pretty strong distaste for coffee. Honestly, I hate it, the way it makes your teeth gritty to the point where you need something else to drink. I can't even enjoy a cup unless it's lighter than my own skin tone, which, by the way, is pretty pale. I mean I wouldn't call myself pasty but... Anyhow, it...show more content... My mother raised me right, so I understood how wrong this was, but don't worry, nothing I had been thinking was going to leave my thick skull. Most of the people on the train were older women with their children, but next to me was a man. His eyes, like mine, matched his hair in blackness. However creepy, I always found this feature refreshing, in the way that one finds a black cat. I named this man Frank and created a story for him when another man caught my eye. It was his coat. It was an expensive Ted Baker peacoat which was impressive for how young he was. I worked out frequently and could tell by his body that he had been skipping leg day. His chest, however, was ridiculously huge, almost as if it wasn't even real. My eyes drifted towards the right of the train. I began to critique a young blonde when the man with the jacket began to walk in my direction. He was walking fast, darting straight to the bathroom when his coat flap floated up. I couldn't believe what I saw; it looked like a homemade bomb strapped to his chest. Spending the next few minutes convincing myself that what I just saw wasn't what I thought it was, I began to panic. Next thing I know, he's busting out of the bathroom with a gun and I was forced to prepare for what was going to happen next. It didn't take long for everybody on the train to panic. It rushed through each row as the sobs and cries made their way to every passenger. It was an orchestra of agony and it Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Those three amazing months was a blast!! She would play with me every single day. We did most things together and she loved it. [Sighs, moves to CS] She was my everything. • 18. Describe Myself As A Student Describe yourself as a student and also your aspirations for the future. Please include examples from your personal academic and non–academic experiences. A sophomore at Downtown Magnets High School, I demonstrate passion in my education, ambition in fulfilling my personal and academic goals, and am an explorative student. My passion for learning is the result of my mindset, in that aside from finding education a necessity, it is enjoyable, challenging, and beneficial in fulfilling my future aspirations. For example, I find my Honors Advanced Mathematics class my most unique course. It builds upon my ability to critically think, present data or information, and understand higher–level math at a rapid pace. In particular, it is the ability to solve real–world situations and the underlying mystery mathematicians have yet to solve that intrigues me to continue learning. The class expects much of me, but I am aware that it is preparing me for college– and university–level math while providing me with the skills to pursue a career in Architectural/ Structural Engineering. Ambitious, I set objectives for myself and arrange to accomplish and excel in the process. For instance, I participated in my middle school's academic decathlon with a chance to represent my school in the mathematics single–subject exam. In doing so, I attempted to score a near perfect to perfect score. While the competition did not end the way I expected, I successfully gained a flawless score on the questions Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Essay About Myself There are three very important aspects that play a major rule in my life. They can be categorized as intellectual, social, and spiritual. My intellectual self is interesting because I am mainly right–brained which means that I tend to use my creativity more than my mathematical skills, also making me a visual learner. My social self consists of friends, family, and my surroundings. I spend most of my time at home with my family. Whenever I am with my friends, I observe their behaviors and listen to their opinions. I am more of an independent type of person. Being with different people has influenced me into appreciating different cultures and beliefs. I have learned things that have now been incorporated into my own set of beliefs and ...show more content... I find that I can only recall long–term memories if they are important to me, or if they are dramatic experiences. A few examples of my childhood memories are my mother reading to me, my grandfather playing his guitar, and my dad relentlessly teaching me how to ice skate, no matter how many times I fell. The people who affect my social life the most are my family and friends. I have an extremely close family that has played a major role in my life. They are whom I spend most of my spare time with. My family usually gathers every weekend for dinner. I am also very open to different religions, cultures, and practices because I know many people with different backgrounds and beliefs. Since I've been influenced by various people, I've learned at a very young age to never judge people by how they look, dress, feel, or act. I am very fortunate to have learned these lessons, because many people still do not understand the importance of accepting differences. In a group, I prefer to listen to what others have to say, and then contribute to the discussion. I try to listen so I am able to compare them to my own thoughts. I enjoy working in a group, because it gives everyone an opportunity to incorporate their own ideas. My social self is most greatly influenced by my family and friends. I believe that my spiritual self is the most important out of the three. Although I have a certain religion that I belong to and practice, I believe in a bit of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Descriptive Essay About A Hero When talking about a hero, some people might think of a veteran, a fire fighter, or even superman. The definition of the word "hero" varies between different people; however, my definition of a hero is someone who is selfless, brave, and strong. Someone who doesn't runaway when things get hard, who gives their all just for the wellbeing of others regardless of the strain it puts on themselves. When thinking of the word "hero" the only person who comes to my mind is my cousin Cassy. My aunt Patty had told us she had very important news for us to hear that evening. As we sat down in the living room of my grandma's small condo, everybody looked at one another awkwardly waiting for someone to speak first. My mom started the conversation by asking how long my aunt was going to be in town. My aunt slightly teared up as she tried to spit out her response. She began to tell us that she was actually moving back home to Fargo from the farm place her and her boyfriend lived at near Devils Lake. My aunt started to stutter after a while and then finally blurted out the sentence that nobody ever wants to hear come from a loved Get more content on HelpWriting.net
