Both methods can be used to manage a single project, or together in splendid isolation. It is
important to determine which method best suits the particular needs of each individual study,
therefore, compare two different methods for detailed consideration.
Methodology adopted in this case is based on qualitative research and is conducted through a survey
tool. In this process, research has direct access to the person under investigation and all the
expressions and behavior, he is known. While it would be subjective to calculate the behavior of
materials under investigation, but in this case, corrective measures and other information, if
necessary, you can download and take up directly. As used in this study, a survey to be conducted

primary data makes this study reliable and confidant as well. 3.3.1 Qualitative Research Methods:

Firstly, in interpretivism, there is no notion of a factual reality, but rather a situation that is created
and interpreted by people (Denscombe, 2002). This means that any research conducted into social
research will automatically shape the results found (Denscombe, 2002). Interpretivism has evolved
from studies trying to understand how people make sense of the world around them (Bryman,
2004). This research methodology engages in an Interpretivism approach so therefore to a major
extent rejects the basic assumptions made by positivism. A summary of the main differences
between positivism and interpretivism can be found in table 3.1 Positivism| Interpretivism| The
patterns and regularities in the social world exist independently of whether they are recognised by

Abstract
Using required reading, discussions, and quizzes for references, I have produced in this assignment
a scholarly document that addresses three topic areas: (a) philosophy of research, (b) core concept
for research design, and (c), other approaches to research. I assessed explicit knowledge–base
description of key concepts and questions related to the topic area. The purpose of this assignment
was to demonstrate necessary proficiency in identification, articulation, and application, of related
components characteristic of the social sciences.
According to Lodico, Spaulding and Voegtle (2010), appliedresearch is research assessing the value
and efficacy of particular educational practices. The...show more content...
The philosophy of social research is therefore a component of the philosophy of social science, but
also an important subject area that reciprocally connect methodology and method (Williams, 2006).
Consequently, many philosophical ideals have been informed by other philosophical and theoretical
trends. For example, empirical research is described as studies in which a research question has been
examined by methodologically collecting and analyzing data. This section of the study describes the
persons or groups participating in the study and the methods used for the study. An initial review of
the literature included produces information on the variable and operational definitions that
quantitative research on the topic has analyzed as well as the meanings considered in qualitative
studies. Based on the reviews, the researcher formulates a research question that is further
differentiated and modified as the review of literature proceeds (Lodico, Spaulding & Voegtle, 2010).
In addition, empiricism embraces the idea that testing observation for veracity is central, and that
most knowledge is learned through observation and experience. Ultimately, this learned knowledge
leads to a series of interrogatory assumptions. The aforementioned process supports the idea that
empirical research informs quantitative research methodology. Consequently,

An overview of Research Methodology
Research defines as a scientific and systematic search for pertinent information on a specific topic .
In fact, research is an art of scientific investigation.
The term research refers to the systematic method consisting of enunciating the problem, formulating
a hypothesis , collecting the facts or data , analyzing the facts and reaching the certain conclusions
either in the form of solutions toward the concerned problems or in certain generalizations for some
theoretical formulations It is actually a voyage of discovery

Scope of Research Methodology
The scope of research methodologies includes research methods and the logic behinds the methods
we use in the context of our research study and explain why we are using a particular method or
technique and why we are not using others so that research results are capable of being evaluated
either by the researcher himself or by others.
Why a research study has been undertaken?
How the research problem has been defined?
In what way and why the hypothesis has been formulated ?
What data have been collected and why particular method has been adopted, what particular
technique is used n similar other questions are usually answered when we talk of research

Qualities of Good Research
Good research is systematic : that is structured with specified steps in a sequence as defined set of
rules.
Good research is logical: that is logical reasoning and logical process or great value in carrying out
research. Logical research makes research more meaningful in the context of decision making.
Good research is Empirical: related to one or more aspects of a real situation and deals with concrete
data for external validity purpose.

While conducting research there are many different methods in which to find out results. It is
essential to use and carry out the best form of research technique in order to gain the best and most
accurate results for the intended piece of research. Firstly the researcher should be able to identify if
they need primary or secondary research to gain data upon before they start identifying which
different techniques they should use. Primary research looks into a topic or choice that no other
researcher has yet to conduct. It may be a brand new topic, possibly research into a new company,
medicine, or new piece legislation and its affects. Primary research tends to gain results from
qualitative methods such as...show more content...
As well interviews allow flexible questioning. This may be a question in response to a reply from
the person being questioned. This question may not have initially been prepared for the topic but
be used at the time to dwell further into the respondents answers to gain a more accurate result.
However, unless interviews are being carried out among staff in the personal work area, as in my
case, then interviews can be quite expensive. If having to travel around from one area to another
to reach the perfect respondent from company to company then travel costs can be a big effect on
results if the researcher doesn't set aside an adequate amount. Also there is always the possibility of
revisiting the interviewee to ask further questions. This will again add on to the travel costs. As
interviews are usually personal meetings between people, then they are always subject to bias.
Whether it is the researcher doesn't like the person being questioned or they may not like their
answers. Also interviews can be time consuming so it is important an adequate amount of time is set
aside to gain all the results needed through initial interviews and possible revisits.
Focus groups are a form of qualitative research. This allows an interactive group setting discuss
their opinions, perceptions and beliefs towards a certain subject. It is a quick and easy way to gain
sample size results from an open

11. Research Methodology For Research Methods Essay
Survey research methods are one of the most widely used research methods in education. This
non–experimental, quantitative research design is most often used to gather information about the
subject's attitude, beliefs, opinions, or similar types of information (McMillian & Schumacher,
2010). With this method, the researcher selects a sample of subjects and either administers a
questionnaire or conducts interviews to collect data from the subjects.
There are several benefits to using surveys in educational research. First of all, the researcher can
gather information from a small group of subjects (the sample), but apply the results to a larger
number of people (the population). Additionally, many educational researchers choose survey
methods because of the versatility, efficiency and generalizability that surveys provide (Schutt,
1996). Surveys are versatile, because they have been used in many different areas of educational
research. They are also very cost–efficient and, for the most part, do not require the time that most
other methods do. This makes them popular among researchers. As previously mentioned, the
researcher can gather data from a small group of subjects instead of the entire population, but
generalize the results to the population. This, in itself, is a huge benefit when sample generalizability
is a goal.
Important Considerations for Survey Research Design
Although survey research design is the most widely used in educational research, it is not the only

adn cross–sectional and be confident of outcomes.
There are several ways to gather information, systemic observation, self–reporting, clinical studies
and ethnographies of life circumstances. (Berk 2014) Using the systemic observation uses observing
in two differetn settings. In naturalistic observation objects natural environment in which the subject
would be in its everyday surroundings. Structured observation in which the subject would be
observed in a controlled setting such as a lab. When using structured observation the environemtn
can be controlled to be the same for each participant which might prevent subjects from behaving as
they would in their everyday lives.
Using self reports has participants answer questions. Interviews can be relaxed, conversation style
or more structured like a test. (Berk 2014) This may cause problems because it could be difficult to
compare answers.
The case study or clinical method allows a bigger picture of one individual be studied. In this
method the goal is to get as much information as possible from many angels which is helpful with
individual cases. The unfortunat part is these findings are only useful for each individual.

Research Methodology
Overview of the Research Methodology Action research is the most suitable process to use in order
to address this research problem. The researcher needs a solution that's reliable to use and
appropriate to administer in a classroom setting. The issue, although prevalent throughout the
district, is still unique in the parameters of this fourth grade class. It is not the goal of the researcher
to generalize their findings to a large population, but instead to meet the needs and weaknesses of a
single group of students with which the researcher interacts with regularly.
Proposed Research Design The researcher will use action research to collect both quantitative and
qualitative data. The main objective of this research is to positively affect students ability to solve
word–problems effectively and efficiently. Therefore, the quantitative data will measure their growth
from before and after intervention. The qualitative data will gather students' responses regarding the
benefits of using/reusing taught methods. In addressing the first research question (How effective
are language–focused techniques at improving 4th grade students' understanding of math word
problems?), empirical data will serve as evidence. To answer the second research question (What are
the perceived benefits in 4th grade students using a graphic organizer/visual support as a strategy in
solving math word problems?), students will submit an anonymous survey which

They are much cheaper than ethnography with a greater effectiveness, however, all of these
interviews or surveys were based on the retrospective data, respondents answered the questions by
their memory and the issue may happened for a long time. There could be a great influence on the
quality of data since the ability of respondent to recall information differed from one to another and
some incorrect information often occurred (Baker, 2003). The third approach considered in this
study is the real–time experience tracking developed by MESH planning. This is an approach to
record 360–degree touchpoints of brand by respondents in real time. There are three stages of data
collection. The first stage uses the pre–online questionnaire to collect information about brand health
and relationship quality. The third stage uses the same questions to ask respondents' perception
after brand encounters in order to identify any change. While the second stage for data collection
is the most crucial process in the approach. Respondents are asked to send SMS message to report
any brand encounter via mobile phones. And the online diary also helped to expand these
experiences (Willis et al 2010). Meanwhile, for identifying the CIs, weekly questionnaire will be
sent to respondents about the CIs happened in the past week. The approach offers a holistic view to
track customer experience as well as identifying critical incidences. The real–time tracking approach

Qualitative Research Methods
Introduction
It is common for researchers to compare qualitative and quantitative research methods. Quantitative
methods originate from positivist and post– positivist research paradigms. Also, the methods
objectively examine statistical data to determine cause and affect and often use generalizable data.
There are various methods used in quantitative research such as surveys,...show more content...
Thus, this method gives a researcher an in–depth understanding of the participants' experiences using
qualitative inquiry to determine the why, when, where, what, and how of the study. Qualitative
research is subject to judgments about the data and synthesizes the findings using specialized
approaches such as experimental or non–experimental. Researchers often opt to use
non–experimental approaches in studies using surveys, interviews, observations, and case studies.
Even though an experimental approach is appropriate in quantitative research, it further enables
researchers to find answers and collect data (Bagozzi & Yi, 2012). This approach is unique in
its hypotheses and the study of behavior, making it valid and reliable. They are five types of
approaches to select within qualitative research: case study, ethnography, phenomenology, grounded
theory, and narrative research. Each research method is distinct in its approach towards inquiry
within the qualitative paradigm in terms of appearance, conditions, focus, and theories (Creswell,
1998). There are also similarities in these approaches such as characteristics and assumptions
concerning the context of the study. This research evaluates each approach and determines that the
phenomenology method is best suited for the study of women in leadership and the challenges they

Qualitative research is conducted in a natural setting and attempts to understand a human problem
by developing a holistic narrative and reporting detailed views of informants about the culture of a
problem. It forms a report with pictures and words. One of the most important distinctions that sets
qualitative research apart from more traditional types of research is that qualitative research is
holistic in that researchers study phenomena in their entirety rather than narrowing the focus to
specific defined variables" (p. 93). Similarly, Cresswell (1984) indicated that qualitative research
"is defined as an inquiry process of understanding a social or human problem, based on building a
holistic picture, formed with words, reporting detailed views of informants, and conducted in a
natural setting" (p. 2). Cresswell's definition clearly delineates the major characteristics of qualitative
research. Pg. 50 (Smith & Davis, 2010). Pg. 51 (Smith & Davis, 2010). "How do researchers
evaluate trustworthiness?" Guba and Lincoln (1994) proposed that trustworthiness could be judged
by the following criteria: conformability, dependability, credibility, and transferability.
For Example, Qualitative researchers use conformability, dependability, credibility, and
transferability to evaluate the trustworthiness of a qualitative research report. In order to prevent
researcher bias they can have other researchers point out

Research Methodology Introduction: Introduction in research is the most important section as it
gives an overview of the research and the contents of the document to the readers. It should take
users from their own lives to the place of the research analysis. Introduction part should give the
essential information of why the research topic is important in the field. It should be concise
though it does not have any word limits. In general introduction gives the review of the research.
It is the best place to tell any assumptions that is there in the research if any. It should define the
outline of the research and it should end with research questions which makes reader understand
what exactly the research paper is going to achieve. Literature Review: Literature review is briefly
summarizing the article which was reviewed. It is more focused on the topic of analysis and how it
relates critical analysis in your research work to other research works. To start with literature review,
skim the articles to get the idea of research work. Focus on introduction, conclusion and some
paragraphs to gather general purpose of the article and based on that group the articles into categories
For instance, group them into topics and subtopics. If exact words from the article is taken, citing
