It is about time we have some filters or establish and enforce legal ramifications on the use of the
internet when hate speech is identified in all 50 states. These legal ramifications should be extended
to people in authority who use information from the internet to get to their subordinates. The internet
has radically changed the way we get and disseminate information. The internet is a place to express
free speech and just be yourself, but this has many times come back to hunt users in a negative way.

York Times opposing the Internets status as a human right. While Cerf, as much as anyone,
recognizes the impact of the Internet, his argument stems from a purely mechanical standpoint and
fails to depict the Internet in any kind of humanistic light. Access to public information should never
be transgressed on. Far more than any other technology, the Internet should be regarded and

I will examine the difficulties of regulating hate speech on the internet through legal and
technological frameworks for Japan and the United States. The Universal Declaration of Human
Rights recognizes the freedom of expression as a human right. But the freedom of expression on the
internet is subject to certain limitations. The Internet is not devoid of different forms of deviant
behavior (such as hate speech), which incite discrimination, hatred or violence against groups or
individuals on the basis of their personal attributes. The anonymity and mobility provided by the
Internet has made harassment and expressions of hate effortless and undetectable. Hate speech on
the Internet is a growing problem for the United States and Japan because it is targeting individuals
on the basis of personal characteristics. Brown (2017) argues that cyberhate has three different
qualities: anonymity in the sense that individuals are not compelled to reveal aspects of their offline
identity unless they wish to do so; invisibility there is a physical distance between speaker and
audience; instantaneousness provides people with almost instantaneous publishing. The justification
for promoting speech is founded on a concern for the facilitation of discourse democracy, while the
rationale for preventing harm is based on a concern for human dignity.

The Importance Of Monitoring The Internet
In the United States of America, we enjoy many freedoms such as freedom of speech and freedom
of the press. Today, we could rightly add freedom of internet use. However, with every freedom
comes those who would abuse it. Cyberbullies, hackers, ransomware users, etc. Does this abuse of
the internet indicate that the U.S. Government has a duty to protect its citizens by monitoring

This incident happened in 1994 and 1995 where a student at the University of Michigan by the name
of Jake Baker was writing short fictional stories in an online community on a bulletin board, and his
stories were about sadistic and sexual behavior that was very troubling. Even though these stories
were fictional they should have never been put online for everyone to see because they could have
been taken really serious. In one of his fictional short stories he mapped out in lengthy detail about
how him and his friend tortured, sexually abused, and killed a woman who had the same name as

The fight for net neutrality has begun again with the FCC attempting to repeal the net neutrality act
protected under Title Two. what exactly does that mean? Net neutrality is where an internet user has
total unrestricted access to all internet content, and where big companies, such as Verizon or
Comcast, are legally unable to control or regulate what someone can access. Furthermore, they
cannot restrict access to specific content simply due to the fact that they disagree with the message

he believed that the dismantling of the net neutrality laws could pave the way for a more

approval from big companies, such as Verizon, and more recently, Comcast, companies that would
do well by the repealing of such a law. With net neutrality gone companies such as those listed

down or speeding up lanes depending on the affiliation the company has with that specific website

The internet is a free tool that allows everyone extraordinary opportunities to express their thoughts
or beliefs. Being able to express their opinion to a worldwide audience, has a growing number of
audience participating in the movement. This has many people worried about the kind of speech that

Since the internet is a huge platform, for the government to be able to regulate every single thing
that would be a threat or is meant to hurt someone is next to impossible. Many big social media
companies regulate their website by algorithm, when a certain amount of people report a post that is
offensive or is meant to hurt someone emotionally, it will be taken down. According to Self–
regulation of Internet Content, "Filtering technology can empower users by allowing them to select
the kinds of content they and their children are exposed to. Used wisely, this technology can help

Censorship the Freedom of the Internet? The government controls much of what we can and can't
do, and also how and when we do it. For instance "taxes", we all have to pay a certain amount to the
government on a specific day where the IRS and their officials can determine how much we have to
pay. The state control our cars through smog checks and how fast we can drive on the roads through
tickets and fines. When the government has all of this control over us, should we give them more
power? A power to control what is allowed to be posted or entered into one of the greatest
