Reflection Of The Gibbs Reflective Cycle
(Gibbs G, 1988)
The introduction of the Gibbs reflective cycle helped the nurses to have a systematic thinking about
the different activity phases (Huston, 2014). These logical elements of the procedure are describing
the problem, feelings identification, evaluation, analysis, conclusion, and an action plan. Every stage
is essential in carrying out the reflective processes for nurses.
Nurses come across many situations that affect their emotions, ethical dilemmas, conflicts from the
patient's family and disrespectful colleague (Koutoukidis, Stainton, Hughson, & Tabbner, 2013). All
these are issues that should be addressed during the reflective process. The reflection helps to
analyze the current situation through describing the problem. Common problems that surround
nurses are disagreement between the nurse and the patient's family, rudeness from fellow workers,
physical injuries from a mental patient and insecurity issues when working in a mental ward. After
describing the problem, the nurses will be allowed to explain what they felt about the situation.
Description of the feelings will help increase self–awareness of the consequences in a positive way
and effects of the problem.
After collecting the individual experiences through interviewing or having a dialogue, the third step
will be evaluating the experiences. At this stage, one has taken available notes on the experiences
without criticizing the responses from the nurses (Nona, 2010). The fourth step is for

Erwot Forecast Case Forecast
2018 ERCOT Long–Term Demand Forecasting Approach prepared by London Economics
International LLC
December 21st, 2017
Background
On December 15th, 2017, ERCOT released its annual System Planning Long–Term Hourly Peak
Demand and Energy Forecast report for the region for 2018. The report presents methodology,
assumptions, and the data used to conduct the forecasting. ERCOT bases the forecast on
econometric models describing ERCOT's hourly load as dependent on the number of premises in
various customer classes, weather variables, and calendar variables. Furthermore, the premise
forecasts are based on econometric autoregressive models ("AR1") and certain economic data. With
regards to the data used, forecasts of economic and demographic data ... Show more content on

Each class' premise count was subsequently modeled by estimating a relationship between the
premises and each of the three pieces of economic data (i.e. housing stock, population, and non–
farm employment).
Issues were encountered in the process of creating premise forecast models for two of the identified
weather zones. In mid–2014, there was a notable spike in the number of premises for the Far West
and West weather zones; it was around this time when an entity opted into ERCOT's competitive
market and when ERCOT's service territory was modified through expansion. As such, premise
forecast models were not created for the Far West and West weather zones; instead, the
aforementioned zones considered economic variables of key drivers of forecasted demand and
energy growth.
Hourly Energy Models
A relationship was estimated for each of the eight weather zones between the dependent variable,
hourly energy, and various time and weather metrics (i.e. month, season, day type, weather
variables, interactions, number of premises, and non–farm employment/housing stock/population).
Weather variables include, for instance, temperature, dew point, cloud cover, wind speed, and
cooling and heating degree days. Interactions include hour and day of week, hour and temperature,
hour and dew point, temperature and dewpoint, and hour and temperature and dew point. Not all
variables were included in each

Sun Home of 20 percent of the world's population, China has a very unique and diverse culture. This
research paper is going to introduce and educate the reader about the geography, economy, political
party, and military that makes up the mysterious country to the East. Fourth largest country in the
world, China makes up almost the entire East Asian Landmass. China's 9,596,960 sq km in total
area, features the highest and one of the lowest points in the world. Nearly 70% of China is made up
of mountains, hills, or plateaus. (Defense, 2010) China has 23 providences and 4 Municipalities.
China is also home to more than 3,400 islands. China's climate reflects what one might think
coming from such a large mass of land. Cold Siberian air coming from the north and tropical air
masses coming from the south create bipolar conditions. China is home to many rivers, most notably
being the, "Chang Jiang (Yangtze River) literally translated as "Long River," the Chang Jiang, at
6,300 km (3,915 mi), is Asia's longest river and the third longest in the world" (Defense, 2010).
China has 20 of the 30 most polluted cities in the world, according to the World Bank (Defense,
2010). The Chinese government has made pollution control a high priority and even made efforts to
cut carbon intensity levels in half, but according to the Defense Language Institute Foreign

New Heritage Doll
New Heritage Doll Company Capital Budgeting Analysis The New Heritage Doll Company is a
company that makes dolls for children between the ages 3 – 12 years. The company has revenues of
245 million USD and an operating profit of 24 million USD. The company has three major divisions
– The Retailing division, the Licensing division and the Production division. The head of the
production division has to choose between two capital intensive projects that have been presented to
her – the "Make My Doll Clothing Extension" (MMDCE henceforth) and the "Design Your Own

In deciding which product to approve, the production head could use historical data pertaining to
customer buying habits to see if their buying habits change when a new product line is launched.
Therefore, choosing MMDCE from a strategic stand point seems to be a better option. Issue 3: NPV
Analysis Since DYOD is a brand new product line for the company, the inherent risks involved in its
successful launch are higher than MMDCE, since it is merely an extension of an existing line of
products. Therefore, in order to do an NPV analysis, the division head could use a discount rate of
8.4% for the MMDCE and 9% for the DYOD product lines respectively. An NPV analysis suggests
that investment in the MMDCE product line is a more profitable proposition compared to the
DYOD product line since the NPV of the DYOD product line is negative (–2,434,000). Since we
reject projects with negative NPVs, MMDCE seems to be an obvious choice. The following table

Discipleship Models : A Christian Worldview Essay
Discipleship is a process by which one individual helps another become a disciple, or convinced
adherent (Merriam–Webster, 2016), of a teacher or movement. Although there are many discipleship
models available, a comparison of two discipleship models – LifeShapes (Breen and Cockram,
2009) and Disciplines (Foster, 2002) – reflects two different attempts to teach the same concepts.
The following represents a contrast of the key components of the two discipleship models, a
discussion of the models considering a Christian worldview, potential applications of the
discipleship models, and the presentation of a new discipleship model. Contrast of Key Components
of Selected Discipleship Models While discipleship models vary in method, most attempt to teach
young Christians the basics that are believed necessary for successful Christianity. The challenge
arises in determining what successful Christianity looks like and what disciplines are necessary to
reach that goal. Although both models agree on an 'in, out, and up" (Breen and Cockram, 2009;
Foster, 2002) core thrust to discipleship, LifeShapes (Breen and Cockram, 2009) offers a shape–
driven mnemonic device (Seay and McAlum, 2010) for presenting Christian behaviors as aspects of
church culture whereas the Disciplines (Foster, 2002) model uses a content–reflective (Ochs, 2009;
Kirpalani, 2016) approach to examine twelve disciplines considered to be Church classics (Foster,
2002). LifeShapes LifeShapes (Breen and Cockram, 2009)

Pepsi Analysis : Pepsi Cola
Abstract
Pepsi–cola aimed to tap into the pulse of the prevailing counterculture movement of the 1970s. The
company recruited a unique blend of artists and engineers under the banner of Experiments in Art
and Technology. The Pepsi Pavilion project served as a experiment and a landmark that integrated
social interactions, electronic media, performance art, and futuristic concepts that created mind–
altering realities. The Pepsi Pavilion in Osaka, Japan was built for display and therefore had
significant symbolic meaning attached. The designers of Pepsi Pavilion were attracted to the
aesthetic radicalism brought about by the collaboration between the arts, sciences. The Pavilion was
designed to provide viewers with the opportunity to shape their own reality from the interaction of
art, technology through a variety of processes within the structure.
Introduction
In the late 1960s, Pepsi–Cola thought it wise to connect with the ongoing youth counterculture. The
Osaka 70 Expo was the perfect opportunity for the American company to bolster its Brand. Pepsi
executives were hoping to build the theme of "youth and community" into the exhibition. David
Thomas, a Pepsi executive, explored the New York art scene and found a team of artists and
engineers who later collaborated as E. A. T. a group of Artists designers and Engineers. The Pepsi
Pavilion emerged as an intricate crossbreed of media technology, cybernetics and integrated design.

The Driving Factors Of Immigrant Entrepreneurship
1.0 Introduction
Immigrant entrepreneurship is a relatively new phenomenon that explores the setting up and
managing of business by immigrants in their adoptive countries. Brush et al. (2010) note that
immigrant entrepreneurship has become a type of growth sector because both the host and ethnic
countries benefits from it. The driving factors of immigrant entrepreneurship are distinct from other
forms of entrepreneurship because they accrue from necessity, and the need to survive in dismal
employment situations. Bandyopadhyay et al. (2017) posits that immigrants are drawn to specific
countries – mostly the Organisation for Economic Co–operation and Development (OECD)
countries – due to the push factors such as unemployment and lack of amenities in the home country
and pull factors such as potential for employment and better service provision in the host country.
However, these expectations may not always be met compelling the immigrant to look for other
sources of income through entrepreneurship. Australia's "Australian's First" policy for job
employment provides an apt example of natives receiving first priority in job selections (Karp,
2017). Hence, with economic insecurity and lack of employment opportunities, immigrants are
forced to seek alternative income means such as self–employment. Zimmerman (2016) considers
immigrant risk taking in unfamiliar territories with minimum resources as fulfilling the
entrepreneurial characteristics. The difference, however, is that immigrant entrepreneurship is
different from other forms of entrepreneurship, particularly in terms of funding, performance and
survival rate. The European Commission (2003) remarked that immigrant businesses in Europe
showcase a potent entrepreneurial capacity and potential. This thesis aims to assess the extent to
which immigrant entrepreneurship differs from other entrepreneurial forms. This will be achieved
through a review of existing narratives on the subject.
2.0 Existing Literature Overview
The existing literature on entrepreneurship stems from economical conceptual frameworks
developed in the early twentieth century by Schumpeter, Cole, Kirzner among others. Fayolle
(2014) notes that entrepreneurship has gained considerable study

Society 's Understanding Of The World Operates Around Them
"In one discourse we may find benign an public–spirited expert administrators. Another discourse
might portray the same people as selfish bureaucrats. Still others might ignore the presence of
government officials altogether. Many other kinds of agents and motives put in appearances. They
include enlightened elites, rational consumers, ignorant and shortsighted populations, virtualizes,
rational consumers, ignorant and shortsighted populations, virtuous ordinary citizens, a Gaia that
may be tough and forgiving or fragile and punishing, among others(Dryzek)." Environmental
discourses are a social navigation that mediates knowledge by building a meaning through re–
occurring patterns within symbolic communication. They help guide society's understanding of how
the world operates around them. In order to understand certain discourses, one must analyze how
symbols and language shape social constructs and behaviors. "Discourses construct meanings and
relationships, helping define common sense and legitimate knowledge. Each discourse rests on
assumptions, judgments, and contentions that provide the basic terms of analysis, debates,
agreements, and disagreements(Dryzek)." One also must understand their historical context and
institutional encasements in order to fully comprehend the discourse. All discourses have key tropes,
metaphors, symbols, and genres that help make up its properties. For example, spaceships (the idea
of "spaceship Earth"), "the tragedy of the commons", "war

Honor Based Violence And Domestic Violence
Honor based violence and domestic violence are two common forms of violence that exist in our
world today, and they have for many years (Devaney, 2014; Hague, Gill, & Begikhani, 2013;
Olwan, 2013). Honor based violence covers a wide variety of violent acts performed by a male
relative that are done in order to preserve family honor (Eshareturi, Lyle, & Morgan, 2014), and this
type of violence is associated most often with Middle Eastern nations (Belfrage, Strand, Ekman,
Hasselborg, 2012; Olwan, 2013; Standish, 2014). Domestic violence is an umbrella term for a
variety of actions such as rape, as well as assaults of both the physical and verbal varieties
(Policastro, & Payne, 2013). While the rationale and execution of each of these types of violence
varies (Chesler, 2010; Eshareturi et al., 2014), there are underlying similarities that exist among
both.
In both instances of honor based violence and domestic violence, victims can be seen as losing
power and control within their own lives, which can be noted in the ways that one can lose their
honor, including: conforming too much to Western cultures, having relationships with people
outside of your own culture, or leaving a man who treats you as an object (Chester, 2010; Eshareturi
et al., 2014; Standish, 2014). Women who are victims of honor based violence lose the opportunity
to live their lives freely due to honor disrupting behaviors (Chester, 2010; Eshareturi et al., 2014;
Standish, 2014). In comparison, within cases of

Essay On Expo 2020
World Expo 2020 in Dubai Expo 2020 is definitely a huge event which has excited Dubai,
considering that the Emirate was selected to host the expo. Ever since the Great Exhibition was held,
World Expo have already become a huge deal for many countries as they are significantly focused
on gathering ideas that pave the way towards innovation and progress. In that sense, Expo 2020 has
become a venue that allows countries, people and organizations to brainstorm innovative ideas
which can further lead to partnership and collaboration between and among these parties. This
explains the reason why Dubai is immensely honoured to host the Expo 2020, considering that the
event provides an opportunity for the Emirate and the entire country to further drive their pursuit
towards change in the economy, culture, and society. Expo 2020 is "one of the most internationally
renewed global exhibitions "which is held every five years in a chosen host city and for every expo,
there is a theme that will become the primary concentration of the event" (Dubai World Central,
2015). For Expo 2020, the theme is "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future." Expo 2020 is devoted

currency crisis. Firstly, the causes and the effects of this crisis will be analyzed, using data from the
World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Secondly, theoretical approaches of handling and

That is mainly due to the crisis recent happening. However, there are some academic policy papers
on this topic. Ramzy's article, "Green economy: a pathway to sustainable economic growth in
Egypt". Ramzy advocates for more reforms towards a more environmental friendly economy in
Egypt (2013, 123). Secondly, Mansour's article, "Sustainable youth community development in
Egypt", which focuses on the potential of the youth population in Egypt to the country's economy
along with the idea to promote sustainable resources in Egypt (2016, 2721). These scholars have
thus aimed to find ways towards how Egypt can diversify its economy, mostly here in ecological
ways, which could arguably bring in further investments into the Egyptian economy (Ramzi 2013,
124) (Mansour 2016, 2722). However, to focus more specifically on the approaches towards the
currency crisis itself, the paper will now turn to the approaches of the IMF to the crisis. These
approaches came as part of the conditions to the US $12 billion loan granted in portions to Egypt in
November 2016 (IMF 2016). The IMF took a liberal approach in its loan conditions towards Egypt.

Essay on Pressure Ulcer Prevention Repositioning
Pressure Ulcer Prevention Repositioning
Introduction
Pressure ulcers are one of the most common problems health care facilities often face which causes
pain and discomfort for the patient, cost effective to manage and impacts negatively on the hospital
(Pieper, Langemo, & Cuddigan, 2009; Padula et al., 2011). The development of pressure ulcers
occur when there is injury to the skin or tissue usually over bony prominences such as the coccyx,
sacrum or heels from the increase of pressure and shear. This injury will compromise blood flow and
result in ischemia due to lack of oxygen being delivered (Gyawali et al., 2011). Patients such as
those who are critically ill or bed bounded are at high risk of developing pressure ulcers (O'Brien et
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most mobile patients are able to reposition themselves, while others who are critically ill are not
able to feel or respond to pain. Therefore, nurses need to assess those patients in repositioning to
decrease the risk of developing pressure ulcers (REF).
Nurses need to realise what they are looking for when performing skin assessments for patients. A
study conducted by Thoroddsen et al (2013), found that out of 45 patients that had pressure ulcers
only 27 were correctly recorded in the patient's records.
A study conducted over seven years by Amir et al (2011) showed a significant decline of pressure
ulcer development after three years of the study. This was partly due to strategies being
implemented in regards to repositioning along with adequate nutrition, pressure ulcer prevention
information leaflets were given to patients and skin assessments (Amir et al., 2011). It must also be
considered that different patients will have different comorbidities and the use of a risk assessment
tool is vital to assess and implementing a plan for pressure ulcer prevention according to the
patient's score (Tannen et al., 2010).
Frequency of Repositioning
The timing of position changes for pressure ulcer prevention is very limited in the studies that were
researched. A study found that adults who were frequently turned every two to three hours did not
develop as much pressure ulcers compared to those who were turned less regularly (Lyder

Analysis Of 2014 / 2015 Annual Budget
Analysis of 2014/2015 Annual Budget In the 2014–2015 budget, whose fiscal year is July 1st,
2014–June 30th, 2015, Gallatin had a proposed total municipal general fund of $34,259,839. The
estimated total funds for the 2014 fiscal year was $39,246,745 and the actual available funds for
2013 fiscal year was 38,253,991. The actual total revenue in 2013 was $28,750,055. In 2014, the
estimated revenue was $29,406,004 and the proposed total revenue for 2015 is $27,216,293. The
majority of the revenue is made up from city taxes, with an estimated tax revenue of $19,441,120 in
2014 and a proposed tax revenue of $20,434,577 in 2015 (2014–2015 Annual Budget). This is

Because of this increase, its proposed total revenue has increased by over $3 million in the last two
years. It appears the overall revenue funds will actually take an expected decline after a slight
increase in 2014, and the proposed available funds are over 5 million dollars less than 2014, but
overall the revenue for the 2015 fiscal year seems to be on pace. This is most likely due to recent
drastic fluctuation in gasoline prices in the United States, due to the lowering of oil prices per gallon
over seas. In 2013, the average price for a gallon of gas was well over three dollars, but now it's just
barely over two dollars in Middle Tennessee, and it had begun dropping in 2014 as well. While the
budget has its limitations with gas prices, it's still taking those factors into account.
The unexpended and unencumbered funds for Gallatin, in the 2015 fiscal year, is also significant
when looking at the total revenue of the budget. After receiving just over $28 million in 2013, the
2014 budget estimated unexpended appropriations of over $32 million, and yet only proposed
$28,882,108 for 2015. Some of the subcategories included are parks and recreation, debt services,
and public works, but the highest producing subdivision is public safety, which contributed $11
million dollars in appropriations in 2013. The 2015 proposal for public safety is just a little of $12

Sunflower Nutraceuticals : A Company's Efficiency And Its...
Sunflower Nutraceuticals
Working Capital is defined as "a measure of both a company 's efficiency and its short–term
financial health. (Investopedia, 2016.)" Having an efficient working capital can make or break a
business's success. To expand on our experience with working capital, we ran the Harvard Business
Publication Working Capital Simulation. In our simulation, we are co–owners of Sunflower
Nutraceuticals (SNC), "an internet–based, direct–to–consumer distributor and retailer of dietary
supplements, including vitamins, minerals, and herbs for women (Harvard Business Publication,
2014.)", looking to create more working capital for the company so Sunflower Nutraceuticals can
expand. We were told that SNC is breaking even with a flat annual sales growth on total revenues of
$10 million. The company has struggled to finance the payroll, and more than once overdrawn on
the line of credit in the past. SNC keeps the minimum amount of cash on hand ($300,000) to meet
its operational needs. A national bank, Miami Dade Merchant 's Bank (MDM), has issued a line of
credit with restrictive covenants; credit limit of $3,200,000, and rate of 8%. We were also provided

The Debt Crisis Of 2008 Greece Essay
In 2008 Greece was not influenced by the crisis but later in 2009 the country fell into recession and
the financial markets exerted pressure, which made the economy being vulnerable. At the beginning
of the sovereign debt crisis, the budget deficit of Greece was erected at 13.6% from 12.7%
(Eurostat, Euroindicators, 22/2010, 22 April 2010) and the external debt at 127% of the GDP
(Eurostat, Euroindicators, 60/2011, 26 April 2011). In order to to deter a default on its sovereign
debts, the government of Greece agreed on a loan by Eurozone states and the International Monetary
Fund (IMF). The loan agreement was 80 billion € from Eurozone states and 30 billion € from IMF.
The agreement was between the Greek government and the European Commission (EC), the
European Central Bank (ECB) and IMF (the 'Troika'), in which they agreed that the EC, ECB and
IMF had to prepare a program for Greek economy. The Ministry of Finance in cooperation with the
'Troika' prepared a program called 'Memorandum of economic Policy and Financial Policies;
(MEFP) and the 'Memorandum on Specific Economic Policy Conditionality' (MSEPC)(The
Memoranda). The MEFP had to do with the fiscal reformations and income policies that Greece had
to undertake. The Memoranda was connected with the Act 3845/2010 on 'Measures for the
Implementation of the support mechanism for the Greek economy by the Eurozone Member states
and the International Monetary Fund' and the Greek Parliament enacted into law on 5 May 2010.

Creative Story : A Short Story
His hands got sweaty grasping the bomb in his hand, if only he had time. Mathu ran towards the
ocean, barely throwing the bomb into the sea before it exploded. He said, "Why did I just make that
simple mistake cutting of the red wire and now I'm going to get fired s***." While he returned to the
bomb squad department, he got called into the manager's office, knowing this was the end of his
career. There was a significant SLAM on the desk as he opened the door.
"You could've risked many innocent lives today Mathu," said the manager in a voice echoing
through the empty hallways beyond the door.
"It was a simple mistake, no one got hurt, I threw it into the ocean," said Matthew in a shaky voice.
"What if there was no ocean? What would you have done then?" said the manager. The lecturing
went on for a long time before he calmed down. The manager took a deep breath and said: "I'm very
disappointed in you, I will have to terminate you."
He got upset and said that "this is the only job which provides money for my family in Sri Lanka in
a quiet and disappointed voice. He walked out the office with a frustrated and sad face. He drove
back to his apartment when suddenly a call came on his iPhone 8+ from Sri Lanka he didn't notice
who it was until it was his mom he said I was sorry to all of that yelling that was happening. He kept
making up lies until his mother said bye. He said that "he would be coming back to Sri Lanka in 20

Bedside Handover Using Isbar Frameworks
Bedside handover using ISBAR frameworks has proven in promotion of patient satisfaction,
especially for the patient's safety. However, there are some barriers that were identified in the
effectiveness of bedside handover. These barriers may involve different factors such as
environmental and human.
Thus, this literature review will be focusing on various themes on the effectiveness of bedside
handover using ISBAR, which will then be compared and contrasted; and the most common barriers
to effective bedside handover will be explored.
The question that has been formulated is why is bedside handover with ISBAR considered to be the
safest and most effective form of handover, and what are the common barriers that limit its
execution in the clinical arena?
It has been proven that bedside handover with ISBAR has provided a safety transition and met
patient's satisfaction that gives more opportunity to clarify information (ACSQHC 2012). Although,
bedside handover with ISBAR is strictly implemented, there are difficulties in the application due to
'changes in complex social practices' of nurses that somehow limits its uptake (ACSQHC 2012,
cited in Jeffcott, Evans & Cameron 2009). This literature review sought to study the rationale as to
the effectiveness of bedside handover with ISBAR framework in clinical settings; and to identify the
common barriers to effective communication in bedside handover.
The main themes that will be included are the dyadic relationship between the

Women's Pavilion at the Columbian Exposition Essay example
The Women's Pavilion The Columbian Exposition was notable for its impressive architecture and
large international attendance. Of particular importance was the Women's Pavilion. The first of its
kind to have been designed by a female architect, it revealed much about the social plight of women
at that time, and the need for further progress in the movement for equal rights. While its existence
did not trigger significant changes for the Women's Movement, this pavilion was certainly a
promising first step that would set a precedent for women's involvement in later years. All aspects of
women's involvement in the Chicago fair were overseen by the Board of Lady Managers. This
governing body, the first of its kind, had authority over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those that were in the field also received little public acknowledgement. At this Philadelphia fair,
November 7th was chosen was "women's day", based on the assumption that the women should take
advantage of the fair while the men were casting their ballots. This angered the suffragettes, who
proceeded to boycott the fair. The women's pavilion placed "...particular emphasis on those activities
generally acknowledged to be within the women's sphere" with little information in the areas of
science and discovery. (Greenhalgh, 175) Most of the art work done by women was nowhere to be
found in the women's pavilion, but instead was in the main Fine Arts building. While the Board of
Lady Managers was supposed to have "general charge and management of all interests of women in
connection with the Exposition", they were denied a say in the selection of the actual architect.
(Ralph, 170) This decision instead was made by a board of men. In order to select the architect,
work was examined from fourteen distinguished women in the field. It is noted that none of these
applicants was over the age of twenty–five. The woman who was chosen was Sophia Hayden, who

The Devil In The White City Character Analysis
Throughout history, pride and determination have motivated people to do amazing things. In The
Devil in the White City, Erik Larson proves that pride and determination aided the creation of The
World's Columbian Exposition.
The Devil in the White City is a novel that covers the creation and construction of the 1893 World's
Columbian Expo. The novel contains two plot lines. The first plotline follows Daniel Burnham.
Near the beginning of the book, Burnham is left alone to work on the project after the death of his
partner, John Root. Through the rest of the novel, Burnham faces many obstacles that threaten the
creation of the World's Columbian Expo. Despite the challenges that he faced, Burnham persists,
and the World's Columbian Expo opened in 1893. After the fair began, Burnham faced many new
challenges, such as turning a profit in a suffering economy. Despite all the obstacles that Burnham
faces, Burnham created a successful fair that pays off its debts and turns a profit.
The second plot line within Devil in the White City follows H.H. Holmes. Holmes buys a pharmacy
within Chicago and constructs a building that aids him in killing people and disposing of their
bodies. The first floor of Holme's building acts as a front, a pharmacy, while the top two floors act as
apartments for rent. These apartments have secret passages, hallways, and chutes that lead to the
basement, making disposing of dead bodies convenient for Holmes. After Jackson park is
announced as the site of

The fact that Dubai was a last minute entry into the expo 2020 bid is an indication of its strength in

The Impact Of The Columbian Exposition
March 31st, of 1889 marked an important day in not only France's history, but America's history as
well. The Eiffel Tower was unveiled that day, during the Exposition Universelle in Paris, joining
"the palace of machines," and other larger than life feats of "the iron architecture [that] dominated
the fair" (Expo 1889 Paris). As a nation, America was embarrassed and determined to show their
dominance in the realm of iron and steel working. Thus, the idea for the Chicago's world fair was
born, giving the US "a needed opportunity to out–Eiffel Eiffel" (Larson 15). Before long, it was
decided that the fair would be called "The Columbian Exposition", honoring the 400th anniversary
of Columbus's sail across the Atlantic. During its six months of operation the fair was an
unequivocal success and "had a powerful and lasting impact on the nation's psyche" politically,
socially, and economically (Larson 373). Consequently, despite having certain economic
implications, the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, to a large extent, was an event that both influenced
millions and acted as a transitional period for America in several different manners.
Politically, the Columbian Exposition was an immense success. Just coming out of an industrial
revolution, the nation had several inventions and innovations, that were yet to be seen by other
leading countries, such as AC DC electricity, agricultural machines, and an impressive
transcontinental railroad system. Without a doubt, the Columbian Exposition

The Positive Attributes Of Interactivity Essay
The positive attributes of interactivity in online courses lend to increasing student engagement and
when utilizing the right types of interactivity and levels, learners will improve retention (Korkmaz,
2013). Likewise, studies have shown greater retention leads to greater success of the course
activities and overall greater student satisfaction in the course (Durak, & Ataizi, 2016; Dziuban, &
Moskal, 2011). Expressing agreement, Afifi (2010) and Barrett (2013) found that utilizing the levels
and types of interactive activities within the course will meet the goal of engaging students by
utilizing connections, effective communication between the student, the teacher and the other
students in the course. Studies in research indicate a strategy for maintaining and increasing student
engagement in online learning is ensuring the challenges around lack of student engagement are
addressed (Alexander, Truell, & Zhao, 2012; Carroll, 2013; Driscoll, Jicha, Hunt, Tichavsky &
Thompson, 2012; Edwards, Rule, & Boody, 2013). These challenges are identified in research as
issues with poor instructional design. For example, in a study by Alexander, Truell, & Zhao (2012)
student engagement and motivation in an online learning program was shown to be significantly less
when the content did not move at a pace that was fast enough for the student. These finders were
also evident when learners were unable to go back to previously learned content, when the

Primary Outcome Measures : Structural Failure
Primary outcome measures
Structural failure (collapse) of the femoral head (FH). 6 studies (with 421 participants) provided
relevant data (Yamasaki et al. 2010, Gangji et al. 2011, Zhao et al. 2012, Lim et al. 2013, Liu et al.
2013, Ma et al. 2014). The pooled estimate of effect size for structural failure of the FH favored the
cell therapy group, as, in this treatment group, the odds of progression of the femoral head to the
collapse stage were shown to be decreased by 5 times compared to the control (CD) group (OR =
0.2, 95% CI: 0.08–0.6; p = 0.02). However, this result should be interpreted with caution due to the
presence of significant statistical heterogeneity (I2 = 68%, Q–test = 16, df = 5, and p = 0.008)
(Figure 4).

statistical significance and yielded halved odds for conversion to THR in the cell therapy group
compared to the control (CD) group (OR = 0.58, 95% CI: 0.33–1.02; p = 0.06) in the absence of
significant statistical heterogeneity (I2 = 32%, Q–test = 7.40, df = 5, and p = 0.19) (Figure 5).

Documenting Exhibition Behaviours ( Online )
Documenting Exhibition Behaviours (online) Ten Thousand Cents by Aaron Koblin and Takashi
Kawashima from 2007, for example, is a digital artwork that creates a representation of a $100 bill.
Using a custom drawing tool (Mechanical Turk), thousands of individuals working in isolation from
one another painted a tiny part of the bill without knowledge of the overall task. Workers were paid
one cent each via Amazon's Mechanical Turk distributed labor tool. The total labor cost to create the
bill, the multi–authored artwork being created, and the reproductions available for purchase (to
charity) are all $100. (Koblin and Kawashima 2007) The producers and viewers of the work are
carefully tracked on the website, even if they do not buy the work – average times spent and the
location of visitors from Egypt to the Philippines are logged. (Graham, 2014) New media artworks
that are 'installed' only online, and are 'site–specific' to the World Wide Web, must be considered
carefully for interactive behaviours, but as the Internet is inherently interactive, net artists are well
used to this. www_hack (2010) by Rui Guerra, for example, is a creative intervention onto specific
web sites. A script installed on the host site allows all visitors to a single webpage to observe each

Health And Social Care For The Delivery Of Patient Care Essay
Sawbridge and Hewison (2015) believe that compassion is important to the delivery of patient care.
However, professionals are working in environments that are increasingly targeted which can take
the professionals away from delivering compassionate care (Baverstock and Finley 2016). This
assignment aims to discuss how important and how realistic it is for health and social care leaders to
balance compassion with effective and efficient service delivery. It aims to do this by exploring what
is meant by the term compassion and the influence that it has on patient care. The author will then
move on to discuss the impact compassion has on service delivery, considering if professionals need
to balance compassion with effective and efficient care delivery including the if compassion is in
fact required to deliver effective care. Within literature, Compassion has been described in many
ways though very few descriptions have agreed on how it is best identified (Volpintesta 2011).
Crowther et al (2013) describe compassion as a deep emotion that is felt by the individual
practitioner allowing them to understand what the patient may be experiencing. Nussbaum (2003)
argues that compassion goes beyond just understanding and identifying that emotion, it requires the
practitioner to produce a response to the feeling or emotion in order to improve the situation. Dewar
(2011) points out that compassion is not only about the recognition of the patients suffering but

Child Labour And Its Effect On Children Essay
Child labour, in the Western tradition, evokes a negative connotations of dangerous work being
committed by children, and while child labour that causes physiological or psychological damage to
children, or inhibits their ability to gain an education is reprehensible, not all child labour is
detrimental. However, child work, which is difficult to differentiate from child labour, is an
acceptable even beneficial to the child and their family. This is especially true in agriculture.
However, certain industries should prohibit all children from working such as working domestically
outside of the child's home or within mining. While children are working in all these industries it
become a question of why. There are several reasons including: poverty, which is associated with an
inability to receive an education, the cultural context of a society, family breakdown, and a lack of
government enforcement and resources. In order to address the underlying causes of child labour it
is imperative that implement policies that reduce and eliminate child labour, additionally there must
be cultural enjoyment to better educate the populace on what the obligations the state has signed on
too, also education needs to be free in its entirety to ensure everyone has equal opportunity for
advancement, finally there needs to be greater government resources invested in reducing the
sources of poverty. Due to the loose categorization of children's economic rights set out in the

Continuing Education As Nurses
Continuing Education as Nurses
Introduction
The definition of education is, "the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially
at a school or university" (Merriam–Webster, 2015). Education in general is important. In nursing it
is especially important because the medical field is constantly changing. In order to keep up with
these constant changes, continuing education becomes the number one way to learn the new
changes. There are many opinions regarding why education should or should not continue. In
addition, continuing education may have barriers and benefits for some.

education increased knowledge, skills, professional growth (increase in salary), and better patient
outcomes (Nalle, M., Wyatt, T., & Myers, C., 2010). Barriers within the Arungwa study included:
(a) scheduling time off from work to attend classes; (b) financial burden to pay for additional
training; and (c) time management between family, work, and school (Arungwa, O. T., 2014). In the

While the wisdom of crowd (Howe, 2006) has shown great potentials in these areas, it also exhibits
many challenges (Kittur et al., 2013; Buettner and Buettner, 2016) no matter it is via volunteered
activities (Lease, 2011; Newman et al., 2012) or paid microtask crowdsourcing (Kittur et al., 2013;
Demartini, 2015; Bernaschina et al., 2015).
In a typical microtask crowdsourcing scenario, from the requester's point of view, the most
important challenges include: 1, task and workflow design to make sure that it is easy to be carried
out by non–expert workers, and at the same time risk of spammers or low–quality workers can be
mitigated to achieve good quality of result; 2, quality assessment approaches to evaluate the work
from crowd workers. Task and workflow design (Little et al., 2010b; Kittur et al., 2011; Demartini et
al., 2012) are crucial in ensuring the task to be outsourced to the crowd is properly understood,
mitigating the chance of spam and keeping users engaged. They are essential to obtain high quality
and quantity of input from crowd workers. Quality assessment techniques can be either on the fly
(Ipeirotis et al., 2014) during the task running that can be used to optimize task assignment hence
reduce cost, or post aggregation (Whitehill et al., 2009; Ipeirotis et al., 2010; Bachrach et al., 2012;

Moreover, the expensive start–up costs are another barrier for new competitors. Finally, the high
annual profit of Woolworths is hard for others to enter the retail and grocery industry in Australia.

The Australian retail and grocery industry has a high level of concentration ratio because the

Annual Day Speech
A warm welcome to all – board members, colleagues, guests and friends of the school, parents and
dear children.
It is indeed a beautiful evening, all soaked in the Pune theme. The decoration outside, the ambience
and the Puneri Pathiya . Thank you all for this enthusiasm and 'spirit of togetherness'. We are at the
junction where a chapter closes and a new one begins. It is overwhelming that we now count 7 years
from the inception of the school. What a journey it has been – with each year having its own
triumphs and struggles and yet unique it many ways.
We grew from – 24 students to 880 and 30 staff members to 120 now and still counting. Next year
we have Nursery to Class IX with 983 students as of today.
The year 2010 – ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This gave birth to the 'Empolyee Excellence Awards'. The award is a visible way acknowledgement
and appreciation – I am proud to announce the awardees for this year in various categories (this
sounds like some film fare awards)
This in no way undermines the work and effort of the others. It only helps to point out exemplary
performance – just that one extra mile. I believe one of the best indication for good work is when
children and parents come with a request end of the year (which happens often) that we want the
same teacher next year.(recent example). This gesture itself is a reward for a teacher. And for the
school, when children continue. It shows 'all is well" or 'almost all is well'.
Thank you for your continued trust and faith. Let me now invite our stalwarts Siddesh and Sakshi –
school captians for the year 2010 –11 to take us through a visual journey of the year gone by
capsuling most events, activities and happenings.
Thank you both. That was great. The highlights of the year all put in a plate. The energy this year
was palpable. We set our own standards, strived to reach them and elevated ourselves to higher
planes. The learning, the evolving and the effort will never cease.
The year as every other, was exciting, challenging and invigorating. Some days were endless stream
of emergencies and urgencies which came unannounced. Each giving scope to learn, question, to

San Francisco 1915
San Francisco 1915 – Palace of Fine Arts The Palace of Fine Arts was one of the finest buildings
constructed for the 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco. It was one of the
most important symbols of the fair, situated near its center, at the end of the axis on which were
located the Courts of the Four Seasons and of the Universe at the center, and the Court of
Abundance, with the Machinery Palace framing the other side. The Palace was designed by a well
known local architect, Bernard Maybeck (b. New York, New York 1882; d. Berkeley, California
1957) who studied architecture at the Paris Ecole des Beaux Arts. Maybeck then moved to San
Francisco, joined the firm of A. Page Brown, and established a private ... Show more content on

The center of the arch was placed behind the rotunda, so that the two were not aligned in concentric
rings. This allowed a wider arch to be built in the same space, giving it a grander appearance. The
pergola can be more closely seen in the next image, reprinted from the same source and measuring 4
by 6 inches, as well as in the third and fourth images, which are photographs from Souvenir Views
of the Panama Pacific International Exposition San Francisco California 1915 (7 in. x 11 in.) There
were ochre columns, topped by boxes, mixed with pale green ones. The boxes were originally meant
to house small trees and hanging vines, but these were not planted for budgetary reasons. At each
corner of the boxes stood statues of women looking inwards, sculpted by Ulric Ellerhusen. They
were meant to represent the melancholy of life without art. The colonnades stood along the side of
the lagoon, as can be seen in the second image, with the reflection of the tranquil water adding a
pleasant element. Along the side of the walkway in the pergola was a garden of small trees and
shrubbery. Plants were present everywhere in the Palace, along the pergola and the rotunda, befitting
the theme of a decaying ruin, overrun by nature. According to Maybeck, "it is the water and the
trees" that people came to see (Macomber, 23). The natural scenery was integral to his design. The

The Devil In The White City Analysis
The Devil in the White City, written by Erik Larson, it is a book about the events of the World's
Columbian Exposition of 1893 that happened in Chicago. It was the perfect opportunity to display
the strength of America to the world. Larson recreates the Fair with an thrilling tone, allowing us to
experience its magnificence as the visitors would have in 1893. Larson describes the fair as
"perfect", a "fairest dream", and "beautiful." At the same time, Larson uses a somber tone in his
descriptions of Holmes and his castle. He recreates the macabre, choosing to put emphasis on words
like "possessed", "woefully and gruesomely." It is quite an obvious contrast from his cheery
descriptions of the White City. Larson uses compare and contrast and irony throughout the story
White and Black city. The "White City" as the exposition became known as "revealed to its early
visitors a vision of what a city could and ought to be" (247). The Fair not only secured America's
place as a prevailing nation but it gave something to hold on to in a time of economic uncertainty.
Many people saw the "White City" as an escape from their everyday lives that unknowingly seemed
to be filled with darkness and terror. Using irony, Larson creates a feeling of absolute terror among
his readers. When describing Holmes' murders, Larson utilizes a dark humorous tone that helps
characterize Holmes other personality as a psychotic maniac. The very idea that Holmes actually
enjoys the feeling of killing people is

Reflection Of The Gibbs Reflective Cycle

  • 1. Reflection Of The Gibbs Reflective Cycle (Gibbs G, 1988) The introduction of the Gibbs reflective cycle helped the nurses to have a systematic thinking about the different activity phases (Huston, 2014). These logical elements of the procedure are describing the problem, feelings identification, evaluation, analysis, conclusion, and an action plan. Every stage is essential in carrying out the reflective processes for nurses. Nurses come across many situations that affect their emotions, ethical dilemmas, conflicts from the patient's family and disrespectful colleague (Koutoukidis, Stainton, Hughson, & Tabbner, 2013). All these are issues that should be addressed during the reflective process. The reflection helps to analyze the current situation through describing the problem. Common problems that surround nurses are disagreement between the nurse and the patient's family, rudeness from fellow workers, physical injuries from a mental patient and insecurity issues when working in a mental ward. After describing the problem, the nurses will be allowed to explain what they felt about the situation. Description of the feelings will help increase self–awareness of the consequences in a positive way and effects of the problem. After collecting the individual experiences through interviewing or having a dialogue, the third step will be evaluating the experiences. At this stage, one has taken available notes on the experiences without criticizing the responses from the nurses (Nona, 2010). The fourth step is for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Erwot Forecast Case Forecast 2018 ERCOT Long–Term Demand Forecasting Approach prepared by London Economics International LLC December 21st, 2017 Background On December 15th, 2017, ERCOT released its annual System Planning Long–Term Hourly Peak Demand and Energy Forecast report for the region for 2018. The report presents methodology, assumptions, and the data used to conduct the forecasting. ERCOT bases the forecast on econometric models describing ERCOT's hourly load as dependent on the number of premises in various customer classes, weather variables, and calendar variables. Furthermore, the premise forecasts are based on econometric autoregressive models ("AR1") and certain economic data. With regards to the data used, forecasts of economic and demographic data ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each class' premise count was subsequently modeled by estimating a relationship between the premises and each of the three pieces of economic data (i.e. housing stock, population, and non– farm employment). Issues were encountered in the process of creating premise forecast models for two of the identified weather zones. In mid–2014, there was a notable spike in the number of premises for the Far West and West weather zones; it was around this time when an entity opted into ERCOT's competitive market and when ERCOT's service territory was modified through expansion. As such, premise forecast models were not created for the Far West and West weather zones; instead, the aforementioned zones considered economic variables of key drivers of forecasted demand and energy growth. Hourly Energy Models A relationship was estimated for each of the eight weather zones between the dependent variable, hourly energy, and various time and weather metrics (i.e. month, season, day type, weather variables, interactions, number of premises, and non–farm employment/housing stock/population). Weather variables include, for instance, temperature, dew point, cloud cover, wind speed, and cooling and heating degree days. Interactions include hour and day of week, hour and temperature, hour and dew point, temperature and dewpoint, and hour and temperature and dew point. Not all variables were included in each ... Rising Sun China The Land of the Rising Sun SGT Wagester, Macauley ADAALC 006–17 The Land of the Rising Sun Home of 20 percent of the world's population, China has a very unique and diverse culture. This research paper is going to introduce and educate the reader about the geography, economy, political party, and military that makes up the mysterious country to the East. Fourth largest country in the world, China makes up almost the entire East Asian Landmass. China's 9,596,960 sq km in total area, features the highest and one of the lowest points in the world. Nearly 70% of China is made up of mountains, hills, or plateaus. (Defense, 2010) China has 23 providences and 4 Municipalities. China is also home to more than 3,400 islands. China's climate reflects what one might think coming from such a large mass of land. Cold Siberian air coming from the north and tropical air masses coming from the south create bipolar conditions. China is home to many rivers, most notably being the, "Chang Jiang (Yangtze River) literally translated as "Long River," the Chang Jiang, at 6,300 km (3,915 mi), is Asia's longest river and the third longest in the world" (Defense, 2010). China has 20 of the 30 most polluted cities in the world, according to the World Bank (Defense, 2010). The company has revenues of 245 million USD and an operating profit of 24 million USD. The company has three major divisions – The Retailing division, the Licensing division and the Production division. The head of the production division has to choose between two capital intensive projects that have been presented to her – the "Make My Doll Clothing Extension" (MMDCE henceforth) and the "Design Your Own Doll" (DYOD henceforth). This paper will try and analyze some of the issues that may need to be taken into account by the division head before she chooses a project for final ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In deciding which product to approve, the production head could use historical data pertaining to customer buying habits to see if their buying habits change when a new product line is launched. Therefore, choosing MMDCE from a strategic stand point seems to be a better option. Issue 3: NPV Analysis Since DYOD is a brand new product line for the company, the inherent risks involved in its successful launch are higher than MMDCE, since it is merely an extension of an existing line of products. Therefore, in order to do an NPV analysis, the division head could use a discount rate of 8.4% for the MMDCE and 9% for the DYOD product lines respectively. An NPV analysis suggests that investment in the MMDCE product line is a more profitable proposition compared to the DYOD product line since the NPV of the DYOD product line is negative (–2,434,000). Since we reject projects with negative NPVs, MMDCE seems to be an obvious choice. • 9. Discipleship Models : A Christian Worldview Essay Discipleship is a process by which one individual helps another become a disciple, or convinced adherent (Merriam–Webster, 2016), of a teacher or movement. Although there are many discipleship models available, a comparison of two discipleship models – LifeShapes (Breen and Cockram, 2009) and Disciplines (Foster, 2002) – reflects two different attempts to teach the same concepts. The following represents a contrast of the key components of the two discipleship models, a discussion of the models considering a Christian worldview, potential applications of the discipleship models, and the presentation of a new discipleship model. Contrast of Key Components of Selected Discipleship Models While discipleship models vary in method, most attempt to teach young Christians the basics that are believed necessary for successful Christianity. The challenge arises in determining what successful Christianity looks like and what disciplines are necessary to reach that goal. Although both models agree on an 'in, out, and up" (Breen and Cockram, 2009; Foster, 2002) core thrust to discipleship, LifeShapes (Breen and Cockram, 2009) offers a shape– driven mnemonic device (Seay and McAlum, 2010) for presenting Christian behaviors as aspects of church culture whereas the Disciplines (Foster, 2002) model uses a content–reflective (Ochs, 2009; Kirpalani, 2016) approach to examine twelve disciplines considered to be Church classics (Foster, 2002). The company recruited a unique blend of artists and engineers under the banner of Experiments in Art and Technology. The Pepsi Pavilion project served as a experiment and a landmark that integrated social interactions, electronic media, performance art, and futuristic concepts that created mind– altering realities. The Pepsi Pavilion in Osaka, Japan was built for display and therefore had significant symbolic meaning attached. The designers of Pepsi Pavilion were attracted to the aesthetic radicalism brought about by the collaboration between the arts, sciences. The Pavilion was designed to provide viewers with the opportunity to shape their own reality from the interaction of art, technology through a variety of processes within the structure. Introduction In the late 1960s, Pepsi–Cola thought it wise to connect with the ongoing youth counterculture. The Osaka 70 Expo was the perfect opportunity for the American company to bolster its Brand. Pepsi executives were hoping to build the theme of "youth and community" into the exhibition. • 13. The Driving Factors Of Immigrant Entrepreneurship 1.0 Introduction Immigrant entrepreneurship is a relatively new phenomenon that explores the setting up and managing of business by immigrants in their adoptive countries. Brush et al. (2010) note that immigrant entrepreneurship has become a type of growth sector because both the host and ethnic countries benefits from it. The driving factors of immigrant entrepreneurship are distinct from other forms of entrepreneurship because they accrue from necessity, and the need to survive in dismal employment situations. Bandyopadhyay et al. (2017) posits that immigrants are drawn to specific countries – mostly the Organisation for Economic Co–operation and Development (OECD) countries – due to the push factors such as unemployment and lack of amenities in the home country and pull factors such as potential for employment and better service provision in the host country. However, these expectations may not always be met compelling the immigrant to look for other sources of income through entrepreneurship. Australia's "Australian's First" policy for job employment provides an apt example of natives receiving first priority in job selections (Karp, 2017). Hence, with economic insecurity and lack of employment opportunities, immigrants are forced to seek alternative income means such as self–employment. Zimmerman (2016) considers immigrant risk taking in unfamiliar territories with minimum resources as fulfilling the entrepreneurial characteristics. The difference, however, is that immigrant entrepreneurship is different from other forms of entrepreneurship, particularly in terms of funding, performance and survival rate. The European Commission (2003) remarked that immigrant businesses in Europe showcase a potent entrepreneurial capacity and potential. This thesis aims to assess the extent to which immigrant entrepreneurship differs from other entrepreneurial forms. This will be achieved through a review of existing narratives on the subject. 2.0 Existing Literature Overview The existing literature on entrepreneurship stems from economical conceptual frameworks developed in the early twentieth century by Schumpeter, Cole, Kirzner among others. Fayolle (2014) notes that entrepreneurship has gained considerable study ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Another discourse might portray the same people as selfish bureaucrats. Still others might ignore the presence of government officials altogether. Many other kinds of agents and motives put in appearances. They include enlightened elites, rational consumers, ignorant and shortsighted populations, virtualizes, rational consumers, ignorant and shortsighted populations, virtuous ordinary citizens, a Gaia that may be tough and forgiving or fragile and punishing, among others(Dryzek)." Environmental discourses are a social navigation that mediates knowledge by building a meaning through re– occurring patterns within symbolic communication. They help guide society's understanding of how the world operates around them. In order to understand certain discourses, one must analyze how symbols and language shape social constructs and behaviors. "Discourses construct meanings and relationships, helping define common sense and legitimate knowledge. Each discourse rests on assumptions, judgments, and contentions that provide the basic terms of analysis, debates, agreements, and disagreements(Dryzek)." One also must understand their historical context and institutional encasements in order to fully comprehend the discourse. All discourses have key tropes, metaphors, symbols, and genres that help make up its properties. For example, spaceships (the idea of "spaceship Earth"), "the tragedy of the commons", "war ... • 17. Honor Based Violence And Domestic Violence Honor based violence and domestic violence are two common forms of violence that exist in our world today, and they have for many years (Devaney, 2014; Hague, Gill, & Begikhani, 2013; Olwan, 2013). Honor based violence covers a wide variety of violent acts performed by a male relative that are done in order to preserve family honor (Eshareturi, Lyle, & Morgan, 2014), and this type of violence is associated most often with Middle Eastern nations (Belfrage, Strand, Ekman, Hasselborg, 2012; Olwan, 2013; Standish, 2014). Domestic violence is an umbrella term for a variety of actions such as rape, as well as assaults of both the physical and verbal varieties (Policastro, & Payne, 2013). While the rationale and execution of each of these types of violence varies (Chesler, 2010; Eshareturi et al., 2014), there are underlying similarities that exist among both. In both instances of honor based violence and domestic violence, victims can be seen as losing power and control within their own lives, which can be noted in the ways that one can lose their honor, including: conforming too much to Western cultures, having relationships with people outside of your own culture, or leaving a man who treats you as an object (Chester, 2010; Eshareturi et al., 2014; Standish, 2014). Women who are victims of honor based violence lose the opportunity to live their lives freely due to honor disrupting behaviors (Chester, 2010; Eshareturi et al., 2014; Standish, 2014). Essay on Pressure Ulcer Prevention Repositioning Pressure Ulcer Prevention Repositioning Introduction Pressure ulcers are one of the most common problems health care facilities often face which causes pain and discomfort for the patient, cost effective to manage and impacts negatively on the hospital (Pieper, Langemo, & Cuddigan, 2009; Padula et al., 2011). The development of pressure ulcers occur when there is injury to the skin or tissue usually over bony prominences such as the coccyx, sacrum or heels from the increase of pressure and shear. This injury will compromise blood flow and result in ischemia due to lack of oxygen being delivered (Gyawali et al., 2011). Most mobile patients are able to reposition themselves, while others who are critically ill are not able to feel or respond to pain. Therefore, nurses need to assess those patients in repositioning to decrease the risk of developing pressure ulcers (REF). Nurses need to realise what they are looking for when performing skin assessments for patients. A study conducted by Thoroddsen et al (2013), found that out of 45 patients that had pressure ulcers only 27 were correctly recorded in the patient's records. A study conducted over seven years by Amir et al (2011) showed a significant decline of pressure ulcer development after three years of the study. This was partly due to strategies being implemented in regards to repositioning along with adequate nutrition, pressure ulcer prevention information leaflets were given to patients and skin assessments (Amir et al., 2011). It must also be considered that different patients will have different comorbidities and the use of a risk assessment tool is vital to assess and implementing a plan for pressure ulcer prevention according to the patient's score (Tannen et al., 2010). Frequency of Repositioning The timing of position changes for pressure ulcer prevention is very limited in the studies that were researched. A study found that adults who were frequently turned every two to three hours did not develop as much pressure ulcers compared to those who were turned less regularly (Lyder ... The estimated total funds for the 2014 fiscal year was $39,246,745 and the actual available funds for 2013 fiscal year was 38,253,991. The actual total revenue in 2013 was $28,750,055. In 2014, the estimated revenue was $29,406,004 and the proposed total revenue for 2015 is $27,216,293. The majority of the revenue is made up from city taxes, with an estimated tax revenue of $19,441,120 in 2014 and a proposed tax revenue of $20,434,577 in 2015 (2014–2015 Annual Budget). Because of this increase, its proposed total revenue has increased by over $3 million in the last two years. It appears the overall revenue funds will actually take an expected decline after a slight increase in 2014, and the proposed available funds are over 5 million dollars less than 2014, but overall the revenue for the 2015 fiscal year seems to be on pace. This is most likely due to recent drastic fluctuation in gasoline prices in the United States, due to the lowering of oil prices per gallon over seas. In 2013, the average price for a gallon of gas was well over three dollars, but now it's just barely over two dollars in Middle Tennessee, and it had begun dropping in 2014 as well. While the budget has its limitations with gas prices, it's still taking those factors into account. The unexpended and unencumbered funds for Gallatin, in the 2015 fiscal year, is also significant when looking at the total revenue of the budget. After receiving just over $28 million in 2013, the 2014 budget estimated unexpended appropriations of over $32 million, and yet only proposed $28,882,108 for 2015. Some of the subcategories included are parks and recreation, debt services, and public works, but the highest producing subdivision is public safety, which contributed $11 million dollars in appropriations in 2013. The Debt Crisis Of 2008 Greece Essay In 2008 Greece was not influenced by the crisis but later in 2009 the country fell into recession and the financial markets exerted pressure, which made the economy being vulnerable. In order to to deter a default on its sovereign debts, the government of Greece agreed on a loan by Eurozone states and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The loan agreement was 80 billion € from Eurozone states and 30 billion € from IMF. The agreement was between the Greek government and the European Commission (EC), the European Central Bank (ECB) and IMF (the 'Troika'), in which they agreed that the EC, ECB and IMF had to prepare a program for Greek economy. The Ministry of Finance in cooperation with the 'Troika' prepared a program called 'Memorandum of economic Policy and Financial Policies; (MEFP) and the 'Memorandum on Specific Economic Policy Conditionality' (MSEPC)(The Memoranda). However, there are some barriers that were identified in the effectiveness of bedside handover. These barriers may involve different factors such as environmental and human. Thus, this literature review will be focusing on various themes on the effectiveness of bedside handover using ISBAR, which will then be compared and contrasted; and the most common barriers to effective bedside handover will be explored. The question that has been formulated is why is bedside handover with ISBAR considered to be the safest and most effective form of handover, and what are the common barriers that limit its execution in the clinical arena? It has been proven that bedside handover with ISBAR has provided a safety transition and met patient's satisfaction that gives more opportunity to clarify information (ACSQHC 2012). In The Devil in the White City, Erik Larson proves that pride and determination aided the creation of The World's Columbian Exposition. The Devil in the White City is a novel that covers the creation and construction of the 1893 World's Columbian Expo. The novel contains two plot lines. The first plotline follows Daniel Burnham. Near the beginning of the book, Burnham is left alone to work on the project after the death of his partner, John Root. Through the rest of the novel, Burnham faces many obstacles that threaten the creation of the World's Columbian Expo. Despite the challenges that he faced, Burnham persists, and the World's Columbian Expo opened in 1893. After the fair began, Burnham faced many new challenges, such as turning a profit in a suffering economy. Despite all the obstacles that Burnham faces, Burnham created a successful fair that pays off its debts and turns a profit. The second plot line within Devil in the White City follows H.H. Holmes. Holmes buys a pharmacy within Chicago and constructs a building that aids him in killing people and disposing of their bodies. The first floor of Holme's building acts as a front, a pharmacy, while the top two floors act as apartments for rent. • 48. The Impact Of The Columbian Exposition March 31st, of 1889 marked an important day in not only France's history, but America's history as well. The Eiffel Tower was unveiled that day, during the Exposition Universelle in Paris, joining "the palace of machines," and other larger than life feats of "the iron architecture [that] dominated the fair" (Expo 1889 Paris). As a nation, America was embarrassed and determined to show their dominance in the realm of iron and steel working. Thus, the idea for the Chicago's world fair was born, giving the US "a needed opportunity to out–Eiffel Eiffel" (Larson 15). Before long, it was decided that the fair would be called "The Columbian Exposition", honoring the 400th anniversary of Columbus's sail across the Atlantic. During its six months of operation the fair was an unequivocal success and "had a powerful and lasting impact on the nation's psyche" politically, socially, and economically (Larson 373). Consequently, despite having certain economic implications, the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, to a large extent, was an event that both influenced millions and acted as a transitional period for America in several different manners. Politically, the Columbian Exposition was an immense success. Just coming out of an industrial revolution, the nation had several inventions and innovations, that were yet to be seen by other leading countries, such as AC DC electricity, agricultural machines, and an impressive transcontinental railroad system. • 50. The Positive Attributes Of Interactivity Essay The positive attributes of interactivity in online courses lend to increasing student engagement and when utilizing the right types of interactivity and levels, learners will improve retention (Korkmaz, 2013). Likewise, studies have shown greater retention leads to greater success of the course activities and overall greater student satisfaction in the course (Durak, & Ataizi, 2016; Dziuban, & Moskal, 2011). Expressing agreement, Afifi (2010) and Barrett (2013) found that utilizing the levels and types of interactive activities within the course will meet the goal of engaging students by utilizing connections, effective communication between the student, the teacher and the other students in the course. Studies in research indicate a strategy for maintaining and increasing student engagement in online learning is ensuring the challenges around lack of student engagement are addressed (Alexander, Truell, & Zhao, 2012; Carroll, 2013; Driscoll, Jicha, Hunt, Tichavsky & Thompson, 2012; Edwards, Rule, & Boody, 2013). These challenges are identified in research as issues with poor instructional design. For example, in a study by Alexander, Truell, & Zhao (2012) student engagement and motivation in an online learning program was shown to be significantly less when the content did not move at a pace that was fast enough for the student. These finders were also evident when learners were unable to go back to previously learned content, when the opportunity to repeat and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, professionals are working in environments that are increasingly targeted which can take the professionals away from delivering compassionate care (Baverstock and Finley 2016). This assignment aims to discuss how important and how realistic it is for health and social care leaders to balance compassion with effective and efficient service delivery. It aims to do this by exploring what is meant by the term compassion and the influence that it has on patient care. The author will then move on to discuss the impact compassion has on service delivery, considering if professionals need to balance compassion with effective and efficient care delivery including the if compassion is in fact required to deliver effective care. Within literature, Compassion has been described in many ways though very few descriptions have agreed on how it is best identified (Volpintesta 2011). Crowther et al (2013) describe compassion as a deep emotion that is felt by the individual practitioner allowing them to understand what the patient may be experiencing. Nussbaum (2003) argues that compassion goes beyond just understanding and identifying that emotion, it requires the practitioner to produce a response to the feeling or emotion in order to improve the situation. While children are working in all these industries it become a question of why. There are several reasons including: poverty, which is associated with an inability to receive an education, the cultural context of a society, family breakdown, and a lack of government enforcement and resources. In order to address the underlying causes of child labour it is imperative that implement policies that reduce and eliminate child labour, additionally there must be cultural enjoyment to better educate the populace on what the obligations the state has signed on too, also education needs to be free in its entirety to ensure everyone has equal opportunity for advancement, finally there needs to be greater government resources invested in reducing the sources of poverty. In a typical microtask crowdsourcing scenario, from the requester's point of view, the most important challenges include: 1, task and workflow design to make sure that it is easy to be carried out by non–expert workers, and at the same time risk of spammers or low–quality workers can be mitigated to achieve good quality of result; 2, quality assessment approaches to evaluate the work from crowd workers. It was the perfect opportunity to display the strength of America to the world. Larson recreates the Fair with an thrilling tone, allowing us to experience its magnificence as the visitors would have in 1893. Larson describes the fair as "perfect", a "fairest dream", and "beautiful." At the same time, Larson uses a somber tone in his descriptions of Holmes and his castle. He recreates the macabre, choosing to put emphasis on words like "possessed", "woefully and gruesomely." It is quite an obvious contrast from his cheery descriptions of the White City. Larson uses compare and contrast and irony throughout the story White and Black city. The "White City" as the exposition became known as "revealed to its early visitors a vision of what a city could and ought to be" (247). The Fair not only secured America's place as a prevailing nation but it gave something to hold on to in a time of economic uncertainty. Many people saw the "White City" as an escape from their everyday lives that unknowingly seemed to be filled with darkness and terror. Using irony, Larson creates a feeling of absolute terror among his readers. When describing Holmes' murders, Larson utilizes a dark humorous tone that helps characterize Holmes other personality as a psychotic maniac.
