Heat Transfer Analysis on full aircraft and its structures (PYLON, APF and Flap
Customer: Airbus France/ Germany
The scope of this project is to perform transient hea
or local structures of the aircraft. The analysis is carried out by providing the heat and
sink source surrounding the structures with necessary (heat transfer m
condition such as conduction (Thermal contacts), convection (HTC), radiation (VF with
sky and ground) and CFD results to study the temperature reached
Following are the key responsibilities,
o Geometric and FE modelling of input geometry (aircraft structures) to make a fine
thermal model for analysis in IDEAS.
o Model validation and debugging the errors in boundary conditions
o Treatment of necessary boundary condition such as heat source (Engine data, CFD
data) and sink sources (wing fuel temperature).
o Performing the analysis and validating the results in accordance with customer
specification and needs.
Notable projects on heat transfer problems:
Burst and Fire Analysis:
o It is kind of catastrophic analysis performed on assumption of the sudden fire
burst inside pylon structures (bleed duct rupture or engine fire)
transfer and temperature reached on the structures.
o This task involves the preparing the model for fire
(BC’s were prepared with the convective and radiation value) and designing of fire
propagation.
Flight test measurement (FTI and FTR) vs Thermal model:
o This task involves, notifying the customer on interested structures for fixing the
thermocouples to retrieve flight test temperature measurements
o The measurements obtained from the flight test are compared with the thermal
model results (thermal model developed according to flight test environment) to
reason out the difference and make the modelling conservative for certification.
Hands on experience in projects like heat balance calculation
verifying the results) and mapping.
