Teaching Philosophy and Classroom Behaviour Management...
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY AND CLASSROOM BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT PLAN
Griffith University Personal Philosophy of Teaching and Learning
A classroom is a very dynamic and spontaneous place. Every classroom is comprised of a diverse combination of individuals who all contribute to
the unpredictable nature and uniqueness of the class. The reality that no two students are alike and no two classes are ever alike, contributes greatly
to the difficulty of establishing a realistic and effective classroom management plan. It is important that teachers realize that a classroom is an
unpredictable place and that it is much more reasonable to strive to manage their classroom as opposed to trying to control it. I see my role as a

Students should be given choices when it is at all possible and they should always be treated with respect. Rogers presents a number of very useful and
reasonable suggestions for successful behaviour management. By combining the ideas from each of the theories that best suit my classroom situation I
hope to be able to create a learning environment that not only makes my students feel safe, but also inspires them to be creative and allows them to
learn to their maximum potential.
In order to allow for optimal learning there are a number of other issues which must be addressed including gender issues, bullying and inclusive
education. While growing up my older brother got bullied a lot. As a result of these experiences I have always had a serious opposition to any and
all types of bullying. When I become a teacher I plan to establish a no tolerance policy for any and all types of hurtful behavior. I will discuss
bullying with my class and through role play and group discussions make them aware of the issue. It also is extremely important for teachers to
remember that boys and girls are different. They learn differently, they behave differently and as a result have distinct needs in a classroom.
Unfortunately with so many female teachers at the primary level the education system is becoming feminized and boys are being left behind. As a
female teacher at the primary level it

Should Adopted Kids Know Who Their Biological Parents Are?
Whether adoptive children should know who their birth parents is something that is questioned too much. Children should have the right to be able to
know who their birth parents are if they choose to do so. If children do not want to know who their birth parents are then they probably have a reason
behind it. Children who do not know who their birth parents are, should find out who they are so that they can have contact with them. Some children
are absolutely accurate that they do not want to know about who their birth parents are, but on the other hand some children do want to figure out who
their birth parents are. All children that are adopted should have the right to find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is unless that the adoptive parents make the decision to decide whether to tell the child that they are adopted. The issues of adoption can be very
tender and can cause torture to the child if the information is given to them at a later age. To help take care of this situation the information is hidden
from the child until they are old enough to make their own decisions. However many children have the desire to know why they were adopted and
who their biological parents are. For the child to be willing to find out who their biological parents are is something that a lot of people question. On
the other hand it is the right of the child to search for their biological parents if they have the desire to. When they are grown up then they have the
right to make their own decision about what they want to do. No one should have the right to tell someone not to do something that they want to do.
All children should have the right to choose whether they want to find out who their biological parents are without the saying of other

Why Spanking Children Is Wrong
Why Spanking Children is Wrong Parents have been spanking their children for hundreds of years, but recently this practice has come into question.
The concern is not regarding the effectiveness of spanking but the correctness of spanking. Parents should not be allowed to strike their children. Child
abuse is defined as any unnecessary or intentional physical or emotional or sexual mistreatment of children. Spanking is not the only method of child
discipline. Spanking is not even the most effective method of child discipline. Numerous studies have made it evident that spanking does have a
negative effect on children. Spanking children should be considered child abuse because it teaches children the wrong message about hitting, it does not

When spanked feel bitterness, anger, and even hate towards the parent.
In addition to these three principal reasons which show the inappropriateness of spanking, there are also other concerns. One main worry about
spanking is that it is a lower level form of child abuse. It is against the law for a person to hit another person. Children are also people and should not
be discriminated against simply because they are smaller.
The main reason that parents use spanking as a discipline technique is because it is what they received when they were children. However, in many
cases spanking has nothing to do with helping the child. It is used as a quick solution to stop negative behavior with no real regard for the long–term
outcome. Parents often spank their children because they themselves are angry. These parents simply cannot handle a situation and take it out on their
child. Spanking might be more accepted if it was the only, or the most successful, form of discipline, but it is not. Spanking is simply a short–term fix
of a child 's discipline problems. Two of the widely used alternatives to spanking are the time–out and restriction punishments. Time–out is most
effective when administered to children under ten years of age, and a restriction mostly benefits children over ten years old. Both of these methods,
while effective, also have a positive influence on the child, they teach the child discipline without the use of force, help the child

Essay On Child Discipline
Every human being has been disciplined at some point of their life. The term discipline can be defined as to teach knowledge and skills; however, it
is often equated to punish and control in parenthood. The different ways to discipline a child has been a hot subject since the early times of the biblical
period. Many states in the United States had created laws to protect children from child abuse. In the last decade child abuse has been on a rapidly
growing issue. The goal of parenting is to provide a child with the necessaries and emotional care to further their physical, emotional and social
devolvement. This can be a challenging task to meet because every parent has their own discipline method to get their child fit for the real world, so
they can be successful in life. The five discipline methods are time out, Logical Consequences, Natural Consequences, Withholding Privilege, and
disciplinary spanking. Although many parents believe that disciplinary spanking is the best discipline method for a child, but many studies shown
that it should not be practiced due to acting out of rage and can have future problems in a child adulthood. Finding the right discipline method can be
difficult and stressful tasks. Many parents want the best for their child as a result this can create many issues to figure out which discipline method
should be use. When a child doesn't follow direction it can be a headache for a parent. Time out is a good method for younger children around the age

Quiet Time Isolation
Quiet time is very similar to time–out but is different. When you use time–out you remove a child from a location and isolate them from the other
children in the room so they can calm down. With quiet time, instead of isolating them you sit the child near the caregiver. You still are making sure that
the child is removed from others so they can calm down but isn't completely isolated from the other children. Like with time–out, you still need to make
sure the child calms down and you talk with the child about a different choice they could have made that is acceptable. This method is the preferred
method of guidance because it eliminates isolation but still provides the alone time the child needs to calm down. Isolation can inappropriately scare

The Night
The night was alight in fire and smoke. Screams filled the air with the crashing of giant wings. Their world was ending, but they had a chance to save
the next one from the same fate.
Their world had been green and full of life, the people were good humored and cheerful. Great parties would fill the sky with brilliant colors as
displays of power from the Mages were put on for the people's amusement, the winds would carry the melodies of instruments to the far reaches of
the even the largest cities. They did have the rare occasion of towns or villages being attacked by a monster, but overall there had been nothing in the
whole history of the world to make the people think that they ever had to worry about the end of everything. Then some time ago a rift formed in the
sky, and through it poured dragon after dragon, until the whole planet was over run and burnt to the ground. Before that moment dragons had been
nothing but fairy tales, creatures designed only to frighten little children. It had been terrible to be witness those fairy tales now come to life. To
watch as people running for their lives, only to be engulfed in flames and burnt to the bone or to hear the screams of people being dragged from their
hiding places and eaten alive.
There were two groups of people in this world that can perform magic. Mages being the strongest in their gifts could do all kinds of magic. While
Warriors could do a small amount of healing magic, with their most powerful being magical

Behavioral Parent Training For Managing ADHD and Disruptive Behavior Disorders
Behavioral Parent Training For Managing ADHD and Disruptive Behavior Disorders
Excessive levels of hyperactivity and inattention can be extremely impairing for both the afflicted child and their caretakers. Children with ADHD can
experience problems with cogni–tion, poor academic achievement, troubled peer relationships, and heightened household conflict (Barkley, 1997; Loe
2007; Bagwell, 2001; Harpen, 2005). These children often present with in–creased aggression that can result in a comorbid diagnosis of conduct
disorder or other disruptive behavioral disorders (Jensen, 1997). The heterogeneous symptoms of this disorder can make se–lecting a treatment course
particularly challenging. While prescribing stimulant medication has become the golden standard for dealing with an attentional system gone awry,
there is growing concern over the use of pharmacological interventions for children since the side effects of such use during this period of development
may not yet be fully understood. Additionally these drugs do not directly curtail aggressive and defiant behavior that many of these children display but
they may improve a child's ability to benefit from other psychosocial interventions.
Of the existing non–pharmacological interventions aimed at treating ADHD, behavioral parent training (BPT) has garnered substantial empirical
support. These programs are geared to–wards children who display

Persuasive Essay On Spanking Your Children
Spanking your children
The intentions of any responsible and loving parent is giving their child the best education possible and the best values that the child may receive. It is
evident that the love of a parent lies not only in indulgence and giving the child the best, but also in raising a complete, mindful, and balanced
personality. Discipline is the cornerstone of the decent education, and it sometimes requires challenging measures, one of which is corporal punishment,
namely, spanking. Many parents today feel that it is perfectly fine to use spanking as a form of discipline for their children. There is a huge debate
about this topic all over the world. The use of corporal punishment as child discipline is both ethical and effective. Spanking a child can teach them
right from wrong. It is effective to explain to the child why their behavior was wrong so that they may understand why the spanking was enforced,
however, only implied in a mindful aim for a strong reason.
Spanking as a discipline measure is only effective when resorted to in a right situation. Spanking itself is bearing a person with moderate physical
effort in order to cause the unpleasant feeling or pain. Clearly, the technical aim of corporate punishment is painful, however, the measure of pain is
supposed to be reasonable. This is the questionable point, how much of the effort the educator or the parent is supposed to make in order for the
punishment to be effective and not to make the negative on the child's psyche (Straus, 1991, p.142). The controversy of the corporal punishment also
lies in the question whether it is right or wrong. The benefits of spanking is a clear understanding of the child if he or she breaks the discipline and
that is a prevention measure for the repetition of the same kind of misbehavior. The standpoint, from which spanking is wrong is that it is considered
as, in fact, an act of violence against the child. Spanking is only wrong when the parent or an educator does not mind the strength of the spanks, which
may cause the child to feel intense pain (Lenta, 2015, p.81). Corporal punishment is only wrong when it goes beyond the reason and grows into
domestic violence. The disciplinary methods, obviously, depend on

Spanking And Discipline
Many people, ages forty or older, grew up in a household where parents disciplined. The two types of discipline was in the form of spanking or Time
out. Spanking or Timeout tend to be a structured way of letting a child know that he/she has done something wrong. Many parents used these forms of
punishment as a deterrent hoping the child would not make the same mistake twice but instead succeed. The question of what is the best way to
discipline depends on what a parent experienced as a child. Different disciplinary can have a huge impact on how successful a child is in the future.
Spanking can make a child become more open to violent and depression behavioral, leading to them failing in the future. Jim Sims–Giles author of the
"Child, maternal, and family characteristics associated with spanking" stated that spanking can have a long term and short term side effect. " Having
been spanked as a child and/or adolescent is related to later psychological problems including an increased chance of being depressed and thinking
about suicide (Straus, in press), becoming violent and delinquent (Straus, 1991), and experiencing alienation and lower economic achievement."
Physical discipline can have an emotional effect on a child opening them up to become depress or turn to violence for relief. Spanking also can have a
long term effect on a child's memory. The article "Child, maternal, and family characteristics associated with spanking" stat that many adults can
remember a time they

Disciplining Your Child Is The Lifestyle, And Parental...
Nick Davis Language Arts Mr. Hance 22 October 2014 Disciplining Your Child The most relevant point to a childhood is the lifestyle, and parental
guidance. It is the whole idea of nature versus nurture. How the parent controls and conducts his or her household plays a factor in how the child
develops morals and values. One way for a child to gain moral support is for the parent to be good role model. It is essential for a solid foundation
that children are disciplined to encourage acceptable behavior at home and in public. Therefore, children will grow up with morals and righteous
values and use their manners to associate with others. A child's attitude, actions, and demeanor tell exactly how he/she were raised in his or her
household. Depending on how a child's parent act at home when they are around their kids and by what they allow their kids to learn socially. As a
child, bad behavior is learned from observation. Children watch how others interact with each other and if they visualize negative behavior along with
conflict, impact their perspective with society. Although society wants children to be respectful and hold responsibility, some children are being taught
by the community to retaliate and be disrespectful towards people. In the United States, the most common forms of discipline are spanking, time–outs,
and punishments, which provide parents and children with confirmation, security, and order. Children are easily influenced by behavior, and if you

My Philosophy Of Parenting
In the independent model of parenting lots of praise is given. When I become a parent I plan to praise my child when they do tasks on their own.
Praise will give the child confidence and perseverance to continue to do well. Children who never get praised may end up feeling like a
disappointment or failure to their parents. It's important for children to find their voice and not always have a parent speak up for them like in the
interdependence model. I also believe it's extremely important for a child to sleep in their own room. "The Academy of Pediatrics does not recommend
co–sleeping because Western beds are not designed for that'd infant deaths are attributed to parents' rolling over on the child." (Brooks, 2013)

"An exceptional child is a child who is different in some way from the average typical child. This could include a gifted child, handicapped, or a
learning disability." (HDFS 641 Parenting Exceptional Children) An exceptional child needs a lot more care and nurture then a child who does not
have a disability. I mentioned earlier that I plan to focus on the independent model of parenting. For a child with a disability this is unrealistic. They
need their parent to constantly be there every step of the way. The parent–child bond may be affected such as having a child that is very hard to care
for or having a child that provides few social cues. Roles that a parent needs to take on with an exceptional child are added on to the roles they
normally have to take on. If my child happen to have an exceptionality I would take on the role of being my child's advocate for their entire

Traditional Forms Of Child Abuse
In today's society people make it very clear about their opinion when it comes to discipline a child. Most but not every parent believes that every
form of child discipline is considered child abuse. When in fact traditional acts of discipline are more of a teaching lesion rather than straight child
abuse. What people are not aware of is that not every style of discipline works with every child. Some children listen and/or even learn better with
specific punishments. When it comes to traditional acts of discipline the first technique that comes to any parent is spanking. For the most part,
spanking children is not considered abuse unless the technique is overused and taken too far. Spanking is one of the best known examples of positive
punishment and it is estimated that around 75 percent of parents in America use spanking as discipline. Georgia's law states that ... Show more content

By putting the child in time out, it is allowing their child to think about what they did and know to not make the same mistake again. For a time out
session to not be considered child abuse, there needs to be reasonable boundaries or rules. For example. If a parent has a four–year–old and puts them
in time out, a reasonable time would be four minutes. Second, the time out area also needs to be in a spot where the parent can see and monitor their
child so they have no way of hurting them self. Parents don't only use time out at home but in public as well. For example, when a child shoves
another child, the parents first though it to scold them and have them sit by their side for a few minutes. In no way is the parent trying to isolate their
child from their friends and having fun but instead have them take a few minutes to learn from their mistake and then let them go back out and play
with other children. In all honesty, the timeout session is probably the safest act of discipline there is out

Spanking : Getting Up The Bottom Of Things
Spanking: Getting to the Bottom of Things
The term discipline derives from the root word "disciple" which means "to teach." Spanking has been around since the beginning of time. For decades
spanking has been an acceptable form of discipline. Yet not every parent uses spanking as a means to correct their children. Some may say thatspanking
your child is a form of child abuse, then there are those that may say spanking may be a fitting form of discipline depending on what the child is
being punished for. Can both forms of discipline be acceptable? Parents have been entrusted with the incredible privilege and responsibility of shaping
their children's behavior in a positive direction.

Spanking teaches children not to trust their parents. It hurts the parent–child relationship as fear, anger and resentment build up." It is very easy to get
carried away when one is angry. Often, one thing leads to another and all of a sudden, a line has been crossed. Spanking is no different, and for a
parent or caregiver who will inevitably lose her temper at some point, it is a safer practice to avoid corporal punishment all together. Children have a
way of knowing exactly what really pushes Mom's, or Dad's buttons, and they will often continue doing so until they get a satisfying reaction.
Unfortunately, what may have started as a simple spanking, easily leads to other unacceptable forms of punishment that could harm the child both
physically and emotionally. Depending on the personality and sense of the child, unnecessary and long term harm can result from excessively harsh
punishment. Kerby Alvy stated the following regarding corporal punishment in the book Child Abuse: Opposing Viewpoints: "These methods are used
for such purposes as stopping a child's unwanted behavior, preventing the recurrence of an unwanted behavior, or because the child failed to do
something the child was supposed to do. Many negative behaviors and outcomes have been regularly associated with the parental use of corporal

Laura Markham's Should You Spank Your Child?
Punishing children for their wrong–doings has been and always will be necessary for a child's development of right and wrong. The different types of
punishments parents use on their children work for various types and degrees of trouble the child is in. Laura Markham, a clinical psychologist that
specializes in relationship–based parenting, assumes in her essay "Should You Spank Your Child?" thatspanking is one of the worst punishments a child
could receive from his parents. However, corporal punishment teaches responsibility and the difference between right and wrong, remains different
from abuse, and is not the reason for issues in adulthood.
The only difference spanking has between a time out, grounding, or having a toy taken away is that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Markham believes that "corporal punishment was linked with . . . increased rates of aggression, delinquency, mental health problems, and problems
in relationships with their parents. . . .As adults, they are more likely to hit their spouses." Markham's statements, however, can easily be disproven.
Markham based her facts on an "analysis of 88 corporal punishment studies over six decades. . . ." While initially these studies may seem trustworthy,
it is impossible for them to be believable. Six decades ago, if a child was receiving a punishment, he was told to grab a switch from outside and bring it
to his parent so the child could be spanked with it. When that child became a parent a couple decades later, he used the same form of punishment on his
children because it worked on him when he was a child and the cycle then repeats. These studies cannot accurately show that spanking in childhood has
caused issues in adulthood because throughout generations parents continue to use the same punishment on their children even if the parents did not
agree with the punishment when they were

some time preparing for the transition. If you allow your child to saw goodbye to their old school friends, and allow them time to adjust to their new
preschool, this transition will be a lot easier.

A Day On Your New Nanny / Babysitting Job
It 's day one on your new nanny/babysitting job and, as is often typical, your kids have decided they either hate you outright, will hate you, or at the
very least, are going to see how much they can get away with under your watch. Now what? I 'm not going to refer to the kids I nanny/babysit as
charges because that is just a weird word. It sounds like something you do with credit cards, or African elephants. So I 'll just call them my kids.
They 're not my biological children, and while most nannies can and do respect who the children 's real parents are no matter how absent they
may be, it feels right to just say "my kids" when talking about my charges. I 'm an important part of their lives and they mine, and when I 'm on the
job they are mine to keep alive and happy. I have officially nannied for six kids and babysat for countless others over the course of 10 plus years.
Obviously I 'll change their names, to Alice, a first grader, Bobby and Chase, grade–school age twin brothers, and Dave, Eli and Frank, three brothers in
grade school. By the way, these tips also work for parents trying to find a way to relate to growing and changing children. So start right away by
Being Firm. This sounds so counter intuitive, but every kid I 've ever babysat or nannied for has responded extremely positive to me being firm and
strict from day one. Alice was very wary of me from the beginning as she had never really had a nanny before, and when I was firm with her, she
hated me for it.

Almost all children can name a time when they have gotten discipline. In fact in America alone 80% of kids have been disciplined in their lifetime.
In out of that 80% of kids, 62% of the kids have said they have been disciplined by spanking. Spanking had become the norm in many household across
America. In fact, the percentage of spanking in America is increasing by 5% each year. But why is spanking so popular in America you may be
wondering? Well surprisingly it has a lot to do with traditions, adults who are parents in the 21st century grew up hearing "spare the rod and spoil the

Argumentative Essay On Timeouts
"Do you need a time–out?" Have you ever asked this question at home or in the classroom? I know I did many times and the truth is that I am torn
when it comes to timeouts sometimes
In my experience, time–out is totally ineffective and sometimes it allows children to get away and relax this helps them to calm down which has a
huge impact on a child's behavior. So I am left to think and wonder our time outs good or bad? Is there really a right or wrong way to give a time out?
Will this be the next big debate?

when dealing with children's behaviors because it is just that a behavioral technique that is used to decrease the frequency of a certain behavior, and it

Home-Schooling Essay
Home–Schooling
Whether or not to home–school your children is a controversial issue for thousands of parents every year. Do you want to let your children go out on
their own or keep them safe at home where you can monitor their development? Many parents choose to home–school their children and there are
plenty of arguments for and against this decision. When it all comes down to it the decision will be based on the socio–economic status of the family,
as to whether they can afford to have one parent at home tutoring the child, instead of out working and also whether or not they feel it is safe enough to
let their children go to the public schools.

If they could not afford to send their child elsewhere, home schooling would be a very good alternative to sending to their child to a dangerous learning
environment.
Home–schooling children have many downfalls. Janine Bempecha who is the senior consultant at the Tufts Program for Educational Change Agents
claims, ??they?re missing out on the culture of childhood as most people know it in America.? People throughout America agree with Bempecha that
teaching children at home deprives them of the ?normal? childhood experience. In addition, throughout childhood and adolescence, is that children
often learn from others and try to fit in. It is very uncommon that someone enjoys being an outcast, which home schooling inevitably does to a
child. Pulling the child out of a school doesn?t allow them to have a social experience and it is possible that it cripples the child socially by
removing them from their friends. School is more than just learning from book, it also included life lessons and relationships. In schools, children
get to learn how to deal with life?s ups and downs which is a major part of life. In a school setting a child will learn how to deal with people who are
unkind to them, whereas at home a parent may shield their child from children who are picking on them. Pulling them out of this setting won?t help

Summary and Reflection of Both Sides Of Time by Caroline...
For the Third Quarter SSR Project I chose the book Both Sides Of Time by Caroline B. Cooney. I settled on this fiction book not only because I've
read all three books in Cooney's series Time Travelers Quartet, but it just so happens to be my favorite out of all of them. This book is gripping to me
because of the events happening in the book. A hopeless romantic going back in time, involved in twolove triangles in two different centuries, then
forced to leave one that she loves either way. I relish reading any kind of love stories, but I especially enjoyed this one because of the twisted
storylines. This book starts off simple in the beginning then surely escalates. Annie Lockwood, the main character is a typical teenage girl who just...

Harriet and she accepted. She thought that now that Ms. Lockwood had Strat's eyes only for on her, she wouldn't have chance on marrying who she

Rowwels turned out to be Mathew's murderer and Annie ended up going back to her own time, in 1995. There, she tells her mother that her father is
cheating on her. Then poor Annie realizes, in the 19th century, Strat is doing the same thing to Harriet and feels guilty, because it's her fault. So to not
interfere with history, she goes back to the 18th century, kisses Strat then breaks up with him, and goes back to her own time very heart broken about it.
If I needed to change any part of the story to make it more Hollywood style, it would be to make some parts of the story a little more intense and
dramatic. For example, I think that Harriet's jealousy of Annie should be emphasized more in the film. In the film, Harriet should try to do schism
things to Annie and Strat's relationship or cry to Strat's family to convince them to hate

Raising A Child Is A Good Or Bad Reaction
As most parents know, raising a child can be extremely difficult. However, raising a child who identifies as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or
queer/questioning (LGBTQ) can be especially trying for many different reasons. There are many things that these parents have to deal with that most
parents do not. One of the most difficult times for not only the parent of an LGBTQ child, but for the kid as well, is when the child comes out. This
topic is very important in the field of family studies because, when a child comes out to his or her parents, the whole family is involved. The parent's
reaction can have a significant effect on the child, whether it is a good or bad reaction. This is an important topic to study because both parents ... Show

The parents should be cautious and think through what to say to their child before speaking, because anything said could have a big impact on the
adolescent. One example of a negative reaction an adolescent might get is the parents denying their child's sexuality. Some parents, as a way of
coping, will think that it is a stage that the child will grow out of, or that the child came out just to get a reaction from the parents. In these cases, the
son or daughter might feel the need to come out a second time. Denes and Afifi (2014) found that nearly a quarter of the participants in their study
came out to their parents a second time. The reason most of the participants chose to come out again was because their parents denied their sexuality.
Most participants who received a negative reaction to their coming out were more likely to come out again. This was because the child wanted to assert
their identities, and prove that this is whom the adolescent really is. The child also wanted to share information with their parents about their LGBTQ
lifestyle. The reaction given by the parents can also have an effect on how the LGBTQ child sees others in this community. D'amico, Julien, Tremblay,
and Chartrand (2015) found that the more the parents had difficulties coming to terms with their child's sexual orientation, the more the adolescent
expressed negative views toward gay, lesbian, and bisexual people. The child internalized the parents prejudice against those in

My first championship game, I was in the eighth grade. It's like it was yesterday, I could see the crowd standing and cheering for both teams, both

teams have cold hand during tip off, they win jump ball and we immediately start to play M&M (Man To Man) defence. They score first and
continuously score for about a minute and a half, while we still have zero points. Finally we get a steal and a score, that actually hypes us up. It's

ticking. Everyone on both teams just wanted to run the clock out. Finally I got a steal and went down the court for a layup, that put us up by two
points. The other team comes down the court and waist time then, they take a three while were yelling out shot! The shot goes in. That makes
them go up by one, our coach called a timeout. There are only 5 seconds left in the game and I have to take the ball out again. I didn't want to
make another mistake so, I launched the ball down court to Chris Robinson. He didn't have the shot so he passed it to Cecil. Cecil also didn't have
a shot so he passed it to Martell. As soon as Martelle got the ball there is one more second left and he shoots the ball. The ref calls a foul, and the ball
goes in putting us back up by two points. We already knew that we were going to win all Martelle had to do was make this last free throw. He made
the free throw and he is the reason that we won that game. Closest game I ever played

Spanking Punishment
Spanking and time out are both discipline strategies parents often resort to when their children misbehave, and they are both considered punishment.
According to the social learning theory, a punishment such as spanking should follow a non–desirable behavior in an attempt to decrease the likelihood
that it ever occurs again (Barry, 2012). For any punishment to be effective, parents should follow three basic principles: First, the punishment must be
consistently used. That is, whenever the child act inappropriately, punishment must ensue. Letting a child get away from a punishment not only
confuses the child, but might also act as a reward to the child and increase the likelihood that the bad bahavior happens again (Barry, 2012). Second,
any punishment must be accompanied by a concise explanation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Studies have shown that combining reasoning and punishment leads to greater reduction in misbehavior than using punishment alone (Berk, 2012),
which is consistent with the idea that children are more willing to comply with rules that seem fair and reasonable (Berk, 2012). Third, any punishment
must be based on a loving and warm parent–child relationship. Children of loving and caring parents are more likely to feel guilty when they
misbehave, and are more willing to correct their wrongdoing to restore the relationship with their parents (Berk, 2012). In addition to these principles,
the timing of punishment is also important–it should occur immediately after the misdeed so the child can relate the punishment to their misbahavior
(Barry, 2012). Furthermore, spanking and time out should only be used on children from 2 to 10 years old, after they can control their behavior (Barry,

Example Of Attachment
There were many classic studies that were taught through out the video.
When it comes to attachment, it is said that it is the basis for human relationships in all societies. Attachment is the emotional touch between two
people. In the video, to study the experiment of attachment, they used the example of an infant and its mother. The infant and mother were taken into a
room, the mother sat down and let the child explore and check out the room. A stranger then comes in the room, starts interacting with the child and the
mom leaves the room. During that first separation between the mother and child, the child stopped playing, realized her mother was no longer in the
room and then felt the need of attachment. The child ran to the door, crying. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next round of separation happens and the mother just walks out of the room this time, leaving the child alone for a short time. The child starts
crying and runs to the door. The stranger returns and tries to calm the child. The mother returns again for the second reunion, picks up the child and the
child is calmed down again, due to attachment. During this study, the way the child reacted, is a way that any child would typically act if this were to
happen because attachment is physical and emotional. When the mother leaves, the child has emotional attachment to her and wants her back, the child
has no attachment to the stranger so she isn't calmed down by the stranger. John Bowlby, the founder of attachment, says that secure attachment is vital
for good psychological development. The experiment that is used for this study is unnecessary emotional stress the study would be putting on the
child, which could also lead to lack of trust between the mother and child. Having the mother and child participate in this research is right as long as
they have full disclosure on what the study is that they are going to be participating in. They should be able to quit at any time if they wanted to. They

Giovanni's Proliferation At Home
One strategy that I would recommend to his caretakers at home is the use of timeouts. As shown in McIntyre's website, http://behavioradvisor.com

Giovanni's frustration in the household is not seen as a problem, but as behavior that children display in their youth. Based on my conversation with
the student, the caretaker's response his frustration is to give him video games and toys, which helps him calm down. The behavior may stop for a

Some examples of good academic behaviors include persisting through tough tasks and handing in homework assignments in a timely manner. In order

P3– There is many different strategies that can be used to minimise the effect(s) of challenging behaviour in health and social care. Some of these

For the praise system to work, you will need to have a system that will work for the specific child/children you will be using it on, whether at home or
in schools.
D1– Using the naughty chair and reward sanction works is because you're taking them out of the situation they were in and letting them reflect on
their actions. When the child is put on the chair the adult should be persistent, the longer the child plays up and the amount of time is restarted the
child will eventually give up, say sorry and then get the reward for doing 'time'. Over time the child will get so bored of being on the chair therefore
meaning the amount of time will be decreased, and if persistent in time the child won't play up as much as they did at the beginning.
Using the naughty char sanction is a better way of telling the child off, but in a way that they understand why there on the chair, and for how long. If
you were to send a child to their bedroom or a separate room because of the naughty behaviour isn't teaching he child anything, especially when they
don't know how long or why they have being sent to the specific room. This could make the child play up more as they would be upset, sometimes

Spanking Child Abuse
Have you ever saw someone hit their child and thought to yourself was that abuse or discipline? Many people understand that punishment and abuse
are different, but they don't know what should or shouldn't be considered abuse. Theres a big debate on if spanking should be considered punishment
or child abuse. Studies have always shown that most abuse goes unreported. There is a point where discipline becomes abuse and that's when discipline
is unfair, anger driven, and inconsistent. Firstly, child abuse is unfair making it not an effective way to discipline. The bad act done by the child needs

Parents who use their child as a way to let out anger or frustration as if their child was a punching bag should be accused of child abuse. If the child
is constantly not disciplined for bad behavior it can to lead to a build up of anger in the parent which can be taken out on the child through abuse.
In an article it says, " The most important thing, experts say, is to defuse your anger before you start disciplining"(Degregory). The severity of the
injury can differ by how angry you are when disciplining. In some states when authorities are trying to figure out if its child abuse or discipline
one of the things they look at is how bad the injury was. Everybody has seen that angry and frustrated mother in the grocery store slap her child
because the child was misbehaving. This might be considered abuse because it was anger driven but authorities will also look at the intent of it. If
it was out of love to teach the child its not appropriate to act like he/she was then it might be looked at as discipline. Discipline needs to be
controlled, never out of anger. Controlled discipline is done out of love and the benefit of the child. In "Three Kinds of Discipline" by John Holt he
talks about the discipline of superior force which is discipline given so the child doesn't get hurt and keep him/her out of danger. Holt states, "We
can't afford to let small children find out from experience the danger of playing in a busy street, or fooling with the pots on the top of a stove, or of
eating up the pills in the medicine cabinet" (79–81). Discipline comes from people who know what they do can effect their child's life and their
opportunities. Where as a child abuser is angry and makes it all about their feelings or their own desires. Often people who were abused by angry

Child Abuse And Sexual Abuse
According to dictionary.com, child abuse is the "mistreatment of a child by a parent or guardian, including neglect, beating, and sexual
molestation." About five children die every day from child abuse and many children who are abused start experiencing it at eighteen months or
younger. While abuse can start at any age, more than 25% are under the age of three and over 45% are under the age of five. The younger a child is,
the more vulnerable they are. If signs of abuse are discovered at a young age, it is possible to recover from them completely through therapy and
patience.
Sexual Abuse
There is not one type of abuse existing, rather, there are many types of abuse that have been experienced and witnessed over the years. The first type
of abuse is sexual abuse. Sexual abuse is defined as any sexual act with a child performed by an adult or an older child." These include forced sexual
intercourse, rape, incestuous relationships, using the child in pornographic films and more.
There are many different signs of sexual abuse that a person needs to watch out for. The first is fear. A child may develop a sudden, unusual fear that
was not there before of new people and places. They may also become very withdrawn from their peers and spend time alone. A child who has been a
victim may also start experiencing mood swings and lash out on people at random. Another common sign is nightmares and sleep problems that were
not there before.
Children who have been sexually abused are also

Teaching Philosophy And Classroom Behaviour Management...

  • 1. Teaching Philosophy and Classroom Behaviour Management... TEACHING PHILOSOPHY AND CLASSROOM BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT PLAN Griffith University Personal Philosophy of Teaching and Learning A classroom is a very dynamic and spontaneous place. Every classroom is comprised of a diverse combination of individuals who all contribute to the unpredictable nature and uniqueness of the class. The reality that no two students are alike and no two classes are ever alike, contributes greatly to the difficulty of establishing a realistic and effective classroom management plan. It is important that teachers realize that a classroom is an unpredictable place and that it is much more reasonable to strive to manage their classroom as opposed to trying to control it. I see my role as a managing teacher as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Students should be given choices when it is at all possible and they should always be treated with respect. Rogers presents a number of very useful and reasonable suggestions for successful behaviour management. By combining the ideas from each of the theories that best suit my classroom situation I hope to be able to create a learning environment that not only makes my students feel safe, but also inspires them to be creative and allows them to learn to their maximum potential. In order to allow for optimal learning there are a number of other issues which must be addressed including gender issues, bullying and inclusive education. While growing up my older brother got bullied a lot. As a result of these experiences I have always had a serious opposition to any and all types of bullying. When I become a teacher I plan to establish a no tolerance policy for any and all types of hurtful behavior. I will discuss bullying with my class and through role play and group discussions make them aware of the issue. It also is extremely important for teachers to remember that boys and girls are different. They learn differently, they behave differently and as a result have distinct needs in a classroom. Unfortunately with so many female teachers at the primary level the education system is becoming feminized and boys are being left behind. As a female teacher at the primary level it ... Whether adoptive children should know who their birth parents is something that is questioned too much. Children should have the right to be able to know who their birth parents are if they choose to do so. If children do not want to know who their birth parents are then they probably have a reason behind it. Children who do not know who their birth parents are, should find out who they are so that they can have contact with them. Some children are absolutely accurate that they do not want to know about who their birth parents are, but on the other hand some children do want to figure out who their birth parents are. This is unless that the adoptive parents make the decision to decide whether to tell the child that they are adopted. The issues of adoption can be very tender and can cause torture to the child if the information is given to them at a later age. To help take care of this situation the information is hidden from the child until they are old enough to make their own decisions. However many children have the desire to know why they were adopted and who their biological parents are. For the child to be willing to find out who their biological parents are is something that a lot of people question. On the other hand it is the right of the child to search for their biological parents if they have the desire to. When they are grown up then they have the right to make their own decision about what they want to do. No one should have the right to tell someone not to do something that they want to do. • 3. Why Spanking Children Is Wrong Why Spanking Children is Wrong Parents have been spanking their children for hundreds of years, but recently this practice has come into question. The concern is not regarding the effectiveness of spanking but the correctness of spanking. Parents should not be allowed to strike their children. Child abuse is defined as any unnecessary or intentional physical or emotional or sexual mistreatment of children. Spanking is not the only method of child discipline. Spanking is not even the most effective method of child discipline. Numerous studies have made it evident that spanking does have a negative effect on children. Spanking children should be considered child abuse because it teaches children the wrong message about hitting, it does not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When spanked feel bitterness, anger, and even hate towards the parent. In addition to these three principal reasons which show the inappropriateness of spanking, there are also other concerns. One main worry about spanking is that it is a lower level form of child abuse. It is against the law for a person to hit another person. Children are also people and should not be discriminated against simply because they are smaller. The main reason that parents use spanking as a discipline technique is because it is what they received when they were children. However, in many cases spanking has nothing to do with helping the child. It is used as a quick solution to stop negative behavior with no real regard for the long–term outcome. Parents often spank their children because they themselves are angry. These parents simply cannot handle a situation and take it out on their child. Spanking might be more accepted if it was the only, or the most successful, form of discipline, but it is not. Spanking is simply a short–term fix of a child 's discipline problems. Two of the widely used alternatives to spanking are the time–out and restriction punishments. Time–out is most effective when administered to children under ten years of age, and a restriction mostly benefits children over ten years old. Both of these methods, while effective, also have a positive influence on the child, they teach the child discipline without the use of force, help the child ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Essay On Child Discipline Every human being has been disciplined at some point of their life. The term discipline can be defined as to teach knowledge and skills; however, it is often equated to punish and control in parenthood. The different ways to discipline a child has been a hot subject since the early times of the biblical period. Many states in the United States had created laws to protect children from child abuse. In the last decade child abuse has been on a rapidly growing issue. The goal of parenting is to provide a child with the necessaries and emotional care to further their physical, emotional and social devolvement. This can be a challenging task to meet because every parent has their own discipline method to get their child fit for the real world, so they can be successful in life. The five discipline methods are time out, Logical Consequences, Natural Consequences, Withholding Privilege, and disciplinary spanking. Although many parents believe that disciplinary spanking is the best discipline method for a child, but many studies shown that it should not be practiced due to acting out of rage and can have future problems in a child adulthood. Finding the right discipline method can be difficult and stressful tasks. Many parents want the best for their child as a result this can create many issues to figure out which discipline method should be use. • 6. Quiet Time Isolation Quiet time is very similar to time–out but is different. When you use time–out you remove a child from a location and isolate them from the other children in the room so they can calm down. With quiet time, instead of isolating them you sit the child near the caregiver. You still are making sure that the child is removed from others so they can calm down but isn't completely isolated from the other children. Like with time–out, you still need to make sure the child calms down and you talk with the child about a different choice they could have made that is acceptable. This method is the preferred method of guidance because it eliminates isolation but still provides the alone time the child needs to calm down. Isolation can inappropriately scare ... Their world was ending, but they had a chance to save the next one from the same fate. Their world had been green and full of life, the people were good humored and cheerful. Great parties would fill the sky with brilliant colors as displays of power from the Mages were put on for the people's amusement, the winds would carry the melodies of instruments to the far reaches of the even the largest cities. They did have the rare occasion of towns or villages being attacked by a monster, but overall there had been nothing in the whole history of the world to make the people think that they ever had to worry about the end of everything. Then some time ago a rift formed in the sky, and through it poured dragon after dragon, until the whole planet was over run and burnt to the ground. Before that moment dragons had been nothing but fairy tales, creatures designed only to frighten little children. It had been terrible to be witness those fairy tales now come to life. To watch as people running for their lives, only to be engulfed in flames and burnt to the bone or to hear the screams of people being dragged from their hiding places and eaten alive. • 9. Essay On Adhd Behavioral Parent Training For Managing ADHD and Disruptive Behavior Disorders Behavioral Parent Training For Managing ADHD and Disruptive Behavior Disorders Excessive levels of hyperactivity and inattention can be extremely impairing for both the afflicted child and their caretakers. Children with ADHD can experience problems with cogni–tion, poor academic achievement, troubled peer relationships, and heightened household conflict (Barkley, 1997; Loe 2007; Bagwell, 2001; Harpen, 2005). These children often present with in–creased aggression that can result in a comorbid diagnosis of conduct disorder or other disruptive behavioral disorders (Jensen, 1997). The heterogeneous symptoms of this disorder can make se–lecting a treatment course particularly challenging. While prescribing stimulant medication has become the golden standard for dealing with an attentional system gone awry, there is growing concern over the use of pharmacological interventions for children since the side effects of such use during this period of development may not yet be fully understood. Additionally these drugs do not directly curtail aggressive and defiant behavior that many of these children display but they may improve a child's ability to benefit from other psychosocial interventions. • 10. Persuasive Essay On Spanking Your Children Spanking your children The intentions of any responsible and loving parent is giving their child the best education possible and the best values that the child may receive. It is evident that the love of a parent lies not only in indulgence and giving the child the best, but also in raising a complete, mindful, and balanced personality. Discipline is the cornerstone of the decent education, and it sometimes requires challenging measures, one of which is corporal punishment, namely, spanking. Many parents today feel that it is perfectly fine to use spanking as a form of discipline for their children. There is a huge debate about this topic all over the world. The use of corporal punishment as child discipline is both ethical and effective. Spanking a child can teach them right from wrong. It is effective to explain to the child why their behavior was wrong so that they may understand why the spanking was enforced, however, only implied in a mindful aim for a strong reason. Spanking as a discipline measure is only effective when resorted to in a right situation. Spanking itself is bearing a person with moderate physical effort in order to cause the unpleasant feeling or pain. Clearly, the technical aim of corporate punishment is painful, however, the measure of pain is supposed to be reasonable. This is the questionable point, how much of the effort the educator or the parent is supposed to make in order for the punishment to be effective and not to make the negative on the child's psyche (Straus, 1991, p.142). The controversy of the corporal punishment also lies in the question whether it is right or wrong. The benefits of spanking is a clear understanding of the child if he or she breaks the discipline and that is a prevention measure for the repetition of the same kind of misbehavior. The standpoint, from which spanking is wrong is that it is considered as, in fact, an act of violence against the child. Spanking is only wrong when the parent or an educator does not mind the strength of the spanks, which may cause the child to feel intense pain (Lenta, 2015, p.81). Corporal punishment is only wrong when it goes beyond the reason and grows into domestic violence. The disciplinary methods, obviously, depend on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Spanking And Discipline Many people, ages forty or older, grew up in a household where parents disciplined. The two types of discipline was in the form of spanking or Time out. Spanking or Timeout tend to be a structured way of letting a child know that he/she has done something wrong. Many parents used these forms of punishment as a deterrent hoping the child would not make the same mistake twice but instead succeed. The question of what is the best way to discipline depends on what a parent experienced as a child. Different disciplinary can have a huge impact on how successful a child is in the future. Spanking can make a child become more open to violent and depression behavioral, leading to them failing in the future. Jim Sims–Giles author of the "Child, maternal, and family characteristics associated with spanking" stated that spanking can have a long term and short term side effect. " Having been spanked as a child and/or adolescent is related to later psychological problems including an increased chance of being depressed and thinking about suicide (Straus, in press), becoming violent and delinquent (Straus, 1991), and experiencing alienation and lower economic achievement." Physical discipline can have an emotional effect on a child opening them up to become depress or turn to violence for relief. Spanking also can have a long term effect on a child's memory. • 13. Disciplining Your Child Is The Lifestyle, And Parental... Nick Davis Language Arts Mr. Hance 22 October 2014 Disciplining Your Child The most relevant point to a childhood is the lifestyle, and parental guidance. It is the whole idea of nature versus nurture. How the parent controls and conducts his or her household plays a factor in how the child develops morals and values. One way for a child to gain moral support is for the parent to be good role model. It is essential for a solid foundation that children are disciplined to encourage acceptable behavior at home and in public. Therefore, children will grow up with morals and righteous values and use their manners to associate with others. A child's attitude, actions, and demeanor tell exactly how he/she were raised in his or her household. Depending on how a child's parent act at home when they are around their kids and by what they allow their kids to learn socially. As a child, bad behavior is learned from observation. Children watch how others interact with each other and if they visualize negative behavior along with conflict, impact their perspective with society. Although society wants children to be respectful and hold responsibility, some children are being taught by the community to retaliate and be disrespectful towards people. In the United States, the most common forms of discipline are spanking, time–outs, and punishments, which provide parents and children with confirmation, security, and order. Most but not every parent believes that every form of child discipline is considered child abuse. When in fact traditional acts of discipline are more of a teaching lesion rather than straight child abuse. What people are not aware of is that not every style of discipline works with every child. Some children listen and/or even learn better with specific punishments. When it comes to traditional acts of discipline the first technique that comes to any parent is spanking. For the most part, spanking children is not considered abuse unless the technique is overused and taken too far. If a parent has a four–year–old and puts them in time out, a reasonable time would be four minutes. Second, the time out area also needs to be in a spot where the parent can see and monitor their child so they have no way of hurting them self. Parents don't only use time out at home but in public as well. For example, when a child shoves another child, the parents first though it to scold them and have them sit by their side for a few minutes. One of the most difficult times for not only the parent of an LGBTQ child, but for the kid as well, is when the child comes out. This topic is very important in the field of family studies because, when a child comes out to his or her parents, the whole family is involved. The parent's reaction can have a significant effect on the child, whether it is a good or bad reaction. This is an important topic to study because both parents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The parents should be cautious and think through what to say to their child before speaking, because anything said could have a big impact on the adolescent. One example of a negative reaction an adolescent might get is the parents denying their child's sexuality. Some parents, as a way of coping, will think that it is a stage that the child will grow out of, or that the child came out just to get a reaction from the parents. In these cases, the son or daughter might feel the need to come out a second time. Denes and Afifi (2014) found that nearly a quarter of the participants in their study came out to their parents a second time. The reason most of the participants chose to come out again was because their parents denied their sexuality. Most participants who received a negative reaction to their coming out were more likely to come out again. This was because the child wanted to assert their identities, and prove that this is whom the adolescent really is. The child also wanted to share information with their parents about their LGBTQ lifestyle. The reaction given by the parents can also have an effect on how the LGBTQ child sees others in this community. D'amico, Julien, Tremblay, and Chartrand (2015) found that the more the parents had difficulties coming to terms with their child's sexual orientation, the more the adolescent expressed negative views toward gay, lesbian, and bisexual people. The child internalized the parents prejudice against those in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Narrative Essay: Loss Of Privileged Up In A Team Narrative Essay My first championship game, I was in the eighth grade. It's like it was yesterday, I could see the crowd standing and cheering for both teams, both teams getting hyped up in a continuous rumble through the gym. We come out on the court as team captains meeting the otherteam's captains. Both teams have cold hand during tip off, they win jump ball and we immediately start to play M&M (Man To Man) defence. They score first and continuously score for about a minute and a half, while we still have zero points. Finally we get a steal and a score, that actually hypes us up. It's going on 10 minutes left in the first quarter, we call a timeout. Coach says "Come on yall we gotta do something out there these guys are embarrassing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I take the ball out and instantly we get a turnover. I couldn't believe it, the turnover felt like it was my fault. All of my teammates were confused which lead to more turnovers. Now the other team is coming back for the win. I remember the last two minutes of the game, it was like a clock ticking. Everyone on both teams just wanted to run the clock out. Finally I got a steal and went down the court for a layup, that put us up by two points. The other team comes down the court and waist time then, they take a three while were yelling out shot! The shot goes in. That makes them go up by one, our coach called a timeout. There are only 5 seconds left in the game and I have to take the ball out again. I didn't want to make another mistake so, I launched the ball down court to Chris Robinson. He didn't have the shot so he passed it to Cecil. Cecil also didn't have a shot so he passed it to Martell. As soon as Martelle got the ball there is one more second left and he shoots the ball. The ref calls a foul, and the ball goes in putting us back up by two points. We already knew that we were going to win all Martelle had to do was make this last free throw. He made the free throw and he is the reason that we won that game. Closest game I ever played ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Spanking Punishment Spanking and time out are both discipline strategies parents often resort to when their children misbehave, and they are both considered punishment. According to the social learning theory, a punishment such as spanking should follow a non–desirable behavior in an attempt to decrease the likelihood that it ever occurs again (Barry, 2012). For any punishment to be effective, parents should follow three basic principles: First, the punishment must be consistently used. That is, whenever the child act inappropriately, punishment must ensue. Letting a child get away from a punishment not only confuses the child, but might also act as a reward to the child and increase the likelihood that the bad bahavior happens again (Barry, 2012). Second, any punishment must be accompanied by a concise explanation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Studies have shown that combining reasoning and punishment leads to greater reduction in misbehavior than using punishment alone (Berk, 2012), which is consistent with the idea that children are more willing to comply with rules that seem fair and reasonable (Berk, 2012). Third, any punishment must be based on a loving and warm parent–child relationship. Children of loving and caring parents are more likely to feel guilty when they misbehave, and are more willing to correct their wrongdoing to restore the relationship with their parents (Berk, 2012). In addition to these principles, the timing of punishment is also important–it should occur immediately after the misdeed so the child can relate the punishment to their misbahavior (Barry, 2012). Furthermore, spanking and time out should only be used on children from 2 to 10 years old, after they can control their behavior (Barry, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Example Of Attachment There were many classic studies that were taught through out the video. When it comes to attachment, it is said that it is the basis for human relationships in all societies. Attachment is the emotional touch between two people. In the video, to study the experiment of attachment, they used the example of an infant and its mother. The infant and mother were taken into a room, the mother sat down and let the child explore and check out the room. A stranger then comes in the room, starts interacting with the child and the mom leaves the room. During that first separation between the mother and child, the child stopped playing, realized her mother was no longer in the room and then felt the need of attachment. The child ran to the door, crying. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The next round of separation happens and the mother just walks out of the room this time, leaving the child alone for a short time. The child starts crying and runs to the door. The stranger returns and tries to calm the child. The mother returns again for the second reunion, picks up the child and the child is calmed down again, due to attachment. During this study, the way the child reacted, is a way that any child would typically act if this were to happen because attachment is physical and emotional. When the mother leaves, the child has emotional attachment to her and wants her back, the child has no attachment to the stranger so she isn't calmed down by the stranger. John Bowlby, the founder of attachment, says that secure attachment is vital for good psychological development. The experiment that is used for this study is unnecessary emotional stress the study would be putting on the child, which could also lead to lack of trust between the mother and child. As shown in McIntyre's website, http://behavioradvisor.com /ParentStrategies.html, time out is a removal of the individual from a rewarding situation and placing them in a secluded part of the household. Giovanni's frustration in the household is not seen as a problem, but as behavior that children display in their youth. Based on my conversation with the student, the caretaker's response his frustration is to give him video games and toys, which helps him calm down. The behavior may stop for a moment, but then it resurfaces when he is asked to do homework. His aggression and violent behaviors should not be rewarded, but replaced with more positive ones. Time ... Some of these strategies have a bigger impact on children, depending on the children(s) behaviour. Such strategies include; Naughty chair, speaking (feeling and emotion), 2 warnings, these are all sanctions, which are implemented in home and schools, such as the 3 warnings. When the children/child has done the sanction appropriate for the behaviour a reward should be put in place, such as a reward chart, meaning to stars and you get a bag of sweets, or a day out etc. Having these sanctions in place along with the reward chart, means that the child will be told off, and have time to reflect on their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the praise system to work, you will need to have a system that will work for the specific child/children you will be using it on, whether at home or in schools. D1– Using the naughty chair and reward sanction works is because you're taking them out of the situation they were in and letting them reflect on their actions. When the child is put on the chair the adult should be persistent, the longer the child plays up and the amount of time is restarted the child will eventually give up, say sorry and then get the reward for doing 'time'. Over time the child will get so bored of being on the chair therefore meaning the amount of time will be decreased, and if persistent in time the child won't play up as much as they did at the beginning. Using the naughty char sanction is a better way of telling the child off, but in a way that they understand why there on the chair, and for how long. If you were to send a child to their bedroom or a separate room because of the naughty behaviour isn't teaching he child anything, especially when they don't know how long or why they have being sent to the specific room. This could make the child play up more as they would be upset, sometimes when children are upset they will tend to play up, therefore meaning the naughty ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people understand that punishment and abuse are different, but they don't know what should or shouldn't be considered abuse. Theres a big debate on if spanking should be considered punishment or child abuse. Studies have always shown that most abuse goes unreported. There is a point where discipline becomes abuse and that's when discipline is unfair, anger driven, and inconsistent. Firstly, child abuse is unfair making it not an effective way to discipline. The bad act done by the child needs to have an equal discipline. For example if the child acts up in an store the equal punishment would be being sent to his/her room. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Parents who use their child as a way to let out anger or frustration as if their child was a punching bag should be accused of child abuse. If the child is constantly not disciplined for bad behavior it can to lead to a build up of anger in the parent which can be taken out on the child through abuse. In an article it says, " The most important thing, experts say, is to defuse your anger before you start disciplining"(Degregory). The severity of the injury can differ by how angry you are when disciplining. In some states when authorities are trying to figure out if its child abuse or discipline one of the things they look at is how bad the injury was. Everybody has seen that angry and frustrated mother in the grocery store slap her child because the child was misbehaving. This might be considered abuse because it was anger driven but authorities will also look at the intent of it. If it was out of love to teach the child its not appropriate to act like he/she was then it might be looked at as discipline. Discipline needs to be controlled, never out of anger. Controlled discipline is done out of love and the benefit of the child. In "Three Kinds of Discipline" by John Holt he talks about the discipline of superior force which is discipline given so the child doesn't get hurt and keep him/her out of danger. Holt states, "We can't afford to let small children find out from experience the danger of playing in a busy street, or fooling with the pots on the top of a stove, or of eating up the pills in the medicine cabinet" (79–81). Discipline comes from people who know what they do can effect their child's life and their opportunities. Where as a child abuser is angry and makes it all about their feelings or their own desires.
