Ethical And Ethical Issues Of Business Ethics
The work of setting a positive ethical climate starts at the top of the organization as positive ethical
attitudes filter down to employees. Ferrell et al. (2015) states, "the more employees perceive an
organization's ethical culture to be the less likely they are to make unethical decisions" (p.134).
Business ethics is not only about knowing what is right and wrong, or doing the right thing, ethics
involves acting with responsibility, being objective when making decisions, putting honesty in all
relationships, and maintaining employees' fairness. According to Hughes, Ginnet, and Curpy (2012),
"conflict over values can arise even when an organization has clearly published values because
leaders and employees have divergent perceptions of whether the leader's behavior embodies
important corporate values" (p.177). Unfortunately, GM's ethical organizational culture has been
seriously disconnected from the policies stated in their company. In the past GM's culture has
favored cover–up over openness and legal contemplation over customer safety. The values
embedded in GM's organization were not put into practice. Product defects were concealed from top
management as well as the public, not only hurting General Motor's reputation as a quality customer
driven culture, but also the owners of GM vehicles who were injured or died. A culture of secrecy
seemed ingrained at General Motors, which can be blamed on former CEO leaders, the
organizations structure, and organizational

Essay on Tata Motors
Tata Motors 1. Describe the economic characteristics of the global motor vehicle industry. The
characteristics of the global motor vehicle industry are a boom in certain places and a bust in others
all due to economic conditions in different nations. Four years after tow of Detroit Michigan's big
three went into bankruptcy American car makers are going "full throttle" with sales in August hitting
an annual rate that if substantiated can take them back over 16 million and that is a rate that was last
hit before the economic crisis and 80% higher than 2009 when GM and Chrysler went into
bankruptcy. The opposite is happening in Europe being in its sixth year slump now and with a weak
economy, high petroleum prices and an aging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next factor is to have a quality, compelling products that innovate and capture the customers
attention. This is clear in that while people are statistically staying away from buying a car in
exchange for public transportation especially in England, that luxury cars are selling well in
worldwide poor economies. I would say the next factor is to create cars to sell to the U.S. market.
Take the foreign market for example where the Ford focus in the United states is a clear C list car
that isn't that desirable is a great seller in countries like Germany where it is highly desired. The
third factor is public perception. Auto makers must capture the public attention for sales, not just
make the "best" or cheapest car. For years in America we have an opinion that due to the bailout for
example that foreign cars are better and as such seek out Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Jaguar etc. and not
a Cadillac. We seen this with GM who was trying to sell the ponaic G8 that was half the cost of
European performance sedans and was a failure in the U.S. despite being one of GM's most exciting
cars ever made for the market. The forth factor would be to study the market carefully. Motor
vehicle companies must compete globally to make a living and as such must examine the growing
markets worldwide and

Tata Nano
Introduction
Tata Engineering and Locomotive Co. Ltd was established in 1945. In 1954, the company launched
its first automobile; between 1954 and 1969, it collaborated with Daimler Benz to produce
commercial vehicles. By the 1990s, the company had entered the passenger vehicle market. In 2004
Tata Motors acquired Daewoo commercial Vehicle Co. Ltd., Korea's second– Largest truck
manufacturer, and became the first Indian company to be listed on New York Stock Exchange. The
next year, it acquired a 21% stake in a Spanish bus manufacturer, and in May 2008, it bought British
automotive icons Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford Motor Co. The auto mobile industry in India
benefited significantly from liberalization in the 1990s, when the ... Show more content on

To be sure, even Mercedes had two false starts before getting its pitch for the Smart car right.
A company spokesperson agreed that the Nano became a victim of its own hype. The marketing
pitch is now aimed at breaking that image and giving the brand a more emotive personality as a
mobility solution, a smart city car. The Nano Awesomeness ad campaign is a step in that direction.
The product strategy which will be adapted would be the straight product extension, which is
marketing the car in another foreign market without any change. This is because there would be no
additional product development cost, manufacturing changes, or new promotion.
3.2 Product Review
There are three variants in the Nano range: Nano, Nano CX and Nano LX
Only the Nano CX variant would be introduced in the Srilankan and Malaysian Market for the first
stage
Tata Nano LX will introduced in the Malaysia and Srilanka Market during the following year The
car has achieved its low price by minimizing costs on unnecessary "luxuries", the basic Nano comes
without front and rear fog lights, without a heater or air conditioning, withoutanti–lock brakes, only
one single windscreen wiper, manually operated windows, manual steering with no air bags, tiny
12" wheels, plastic body parts joined with adhesive instead of more conventional metal and welding
and a two cylinder 623 cc engine that provides a massive maximum speed of 65 mph (around 105
km/h).

Hybrid Vehicle
Abstract: As gas prices raise the average automobile consumer demands a better, more fuel efficient
vehicle. This demand has forced manufacturers to begin producing hybrid vehicle; first four door
hybrid sedan was unveiled by Toyota in 2000. The Toyota Prius' success encouraged it competitors
to roll out their hybrid cars as well setting a common standard for environmentally friendly and
efficient vehicles. The relationship of consumer and manufacturer in the car industry on a macro
level has always been one in relative equilibrium. As demand increases the car manufacturers have
increased supply. The green movement in the United States pushed for hybrid vehicles and car
manufacturers responded by producing more vehicles, making the ... Show more content on

This can be seen by the younger age group that has recently begun purchasing hybrid vehicles. Sales
in 2005 of hybrid vehicles only 12.34% were purchased by individuals ages 30–39 and only 9.61%
were purchased by individuals ages 20–29; in 2011 12.68% were ages 30–39 and 17.84% were ages
20–29. (Priuschat.com) The increasing attention the younger population places on environmentally
friendly and less gas consuming vehicles the more likely corporations are going to spend time and
energy devoted towards its research and development. Hybrid cars in themselves have become more
and more fuel efficient from a Prius bought in 2005 which provided an EPA estimated 37.2 miles per
gallon is in 2011 providing 42.7 miles per gallon. With media attention car manufacturers are
increasing what the vehicle can do and making them more and more efficient. A major factor for
individuals who are seeking to purchase a new vehicle is the cost of gasoline which has risen almost
32% since January 2011. The chart below indicates the trend of increasing gas prices. As prices
increase demand inherently falls creating room for alternative products to step in. "16% of Prius
buyers stated that the primary reason for buying the Prius was to save money on gas."
(inflationdata.com). The fact that a meaningful number of people can reasonably expect for their
hybrid purchase to save them money is perhaps the most important indicator for future hybrid

Explain How Different Types of Interventions Can Promote...
CYP 3.1 – 3.4 Explain how different types of interventions can promote positive outcomes for
children and young people where development is not following the expected pattern. There are
many different types of professionals who can offer support to children who are not following the
expected pattern of development, the support is usually coordinated by the schools, SENCO
(Special Educational Needs Co–ordinator). If a child starts school with a disability the SENCO will
have been informed by the child's parents prior to the child starting. The child may already be
receiving support from a number of professionals. For example a child with a physical disability
may well be receiving treatment from a physiotherapist, with exercises given to ... Show more

Educational Psychologist A child will be assessed by an educational psychologist if there are
concerns about their intellectual, communication and behavioural development. Assessments can be
arranged by the SENCO or independently. The aim of the assessments is to find out why the child is
not progressing and what support is needed in order for them to progress. Specific learning
difficulties are often identified in this way such as Dyslexia, AHAD, Dyspraxia. Support and targets
for the child are then set to help them achieve. The outcome of the assessments may involve the
child referred to other professionals e.g. occupational therapist, optometrist, speech and language
therapist, psychiatrist. The psychologist will advise the school on how to promote development for
example, keeping verbal instructions simple. Keep stories and group activities short to match
attention span. Additional Learning Support Additional learning support means giving children extra
help or support so they can get the most out of their education and reach their fullest potential. This
may mean for example a physically disabled child needs one to one assistance throughout the school
day when moving around the school buildings. However it does not just apply to children who have
long term difficulties or disabilities. For example a child who has moved school mid year may need
additional support for a short

Auto Bailout
Should Obama Bail Out the Auto Industry?
Context and Situations
By November 2008, Chrysler's sales had shrunk 25%. GM posted losses of $18 billion, and Ford
lost $11.5 billion. Despite Ford's elimination of 1/3 of its workforce, GM's elimination of 30,000
jobs, and Chrysler's cutting of 13,000 employees, the Big Three were on the brink of bankruptcy. All
three testified before both houses of congress asking for loans to avoid default. The Big Three stated
their demise would trigger 3 million layoffs within a year, plunging the economy further into
recession.
The purpose of the loans was to provide operating cash for GM and Chrysler, and to keep making
auto loans available for car buyers. Ford Credit planned to use funds from ... Show more content on

The question is: Did the government structure the financing correctly?
The government decided to take an equity stake at GM and thus was facing the possibility that a
substantial amount of these funds would never be repaid. The government has already written off or
realized losses of over $7 billion as of April 2012[2]. More losses will come as the government sells
its remaining stake in GM and Ally Financial. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the
auto bailout will ultimately cost taxpayers a total of about $20 billion[3]. The Treasury Department
is even more pessimistic, projecting that, at GM's current stock price, taxpayers will lose $23
billion[4].
Consequences
Consequence for the labor unions: In an opinion editorial published by The Detroit News, Mitt
Romney not only attacks the way the administration handled the bailout of General Motors Co. and
Chrysler Group LLC, but argues that the United Auto Workers (UAW) union benefited from the
bankruptcies in wake of contributing millions to Democrats and Barack Obama 's campaign.
This spending greatly benefited the UAW and its members. Without the Administration's
intervention, a smaller bailout would have required incumbent UAW members, not just new
employees, to accept pay and benefit cuts. Average labor costs would have fallen to the same levels
as the foreign transplants, approximately $47 an hour. While this is still substantially higher
compensation than the average

Discovering Mortality in Once More to the Lake Essay
Discovering Mortality in Once More to the Lake
E. B. White's story "Once More to the Lake" is about a man who revisits a lake from his childhood
to discover that his life has lost placidity. The man remembers his childhood as he remembers the
lake; peaceful and still. Spending time at the lake as an adult has made the man realize that his life
has become unsettling and restless, like the tides of the ocean. Having brought his son to this place
of the past with him, the man makes inevitable comparisons between his own son and his childhood
self, and between himself as an adult and the way he remembers his father from his childhood
perspective. The man's experience at the lake with his son is the moment he discovers his own ...

I would be in the middle of some simple act, I would be picking up a bait box or laying down a table
fork, or I would be saying something and suddenly it would be not I but my father who was saying
the words or making the gesture (White 151).
When the man lay in bed early one morning, he heard his son sneak out to take a canoe out on the
lake, just as he used to do when he was a child. By "living a dual existence" the man could see from
two perspectives; his son sneaking out early in the morning, his father lying in bed listening to his
son sneak out. "I began to sustain the illusion that he was I, and therefore, by simple transposition,
that I was my father" (White 151). The man's alternate ways of viewing these events convinced him
that he was becoming his father.
This thought eventually leads to the man's realization that he will die someday, just as his father did.
A thunderstorm came over the lake one day when the man was a child. He remembered swimming
in the lake just after the storm passed, but while rain was still coming down. Just like the scene from
his childhood, another thunderstorm came over the lake, only instead of swimming in the lake with
the others, the man merely watched his son put on his bathing suit.
I watched him, his hard little body, skinny and bare, saw him wince slightly

automotive market is one of the biggest markets over the world. Participants companies at this
market are well–known enterprises and also they own some of the better known brands like GM,
Ford, Honda, Toyota, VW, BMW etc. In the traditional auto industry, consumer power is relatively
high, given relatively low switching costs and a vast choice of relatively substitutable products.
Many components of the automobile can be sourced from different suppliers which maintains
competitive input pricing. However, the electric vehicle (EV) industry demonstrates a ... Show more

electric car can provide. Equipped with all–wheel drive and offloading capabilities. There is no
Tesla without Elon Musk. His vision is a completely fresh consumer experience enabled Tesla to
become what it is today as well as what it will become tomorrow. Quite simply, people want to work
with him and they believe in his vision and are inspired by his passion. In an interview for this

employees. There are two perspectives to consider in quantifying success. The first is from the
perspective of the company's owners which are shareholders. From the investors perspective
quantifying success is quite easy. Anyone who bought Tesla's stock at its IPO at $17 in July of 2010
would have more than quintupled their money as of May 2013, when the stock traded at $87. Even
those who owned Tesla at the beginning of 2013 would

I choose this topic as it indirectly affects the company that I work for, as we are in the aftermarket
truck accessories business. This report will concentrate on two of the three major auto makers in
North America. The third company has already filed chapter 11 in the bankruptcy court in New
York, Chrysler LLC. At the onset of 2009 all three of the auto makers were in very poor financial
positions; that is when the stimulus packages were introduced by the U.S. president Mr. Barrack
Obama. Chrysler LLC was the first to accept the stimulus package with General Motors not far
behind. Ford Motor Company still has not accepted any stimulus money from the U.S. Government.
What is so different between General Motors and Ford that one had to get help from the government
and the other did not? The differences in product and financial strategies along with listening to
what the customers want could be some of the major differences between the two surviving
companies.
Porter's Five Forces Analysis
Michael Porter identified five forces that influence an industry. These forces are:
1. Degree of rivalry,
2. Threat of substitutes,
3. Barriers to entry,
4. Bargaining power of customers, and
5. Bargaining power of suppliers.
Like other industries operating under free market, capitalistic systems, viewing the automotive

A Report On Tesla Motors
Tesla Motors was founded in 2003 by a group of engineers in Silicon Valley who wanted to prove
that electric cars could be better than gasoline–powered cars. With instant torque, incredible power,
and zero emissions, Tesla's products would be cars without compromise. Each new generation
would be increasingly affordable, helping the company work towards its mission: to accelerate the
world's transition to sustainable transport.
After reading about Tesla Motors, the CEO Elon Musk describes his strengths as the Special Forces,
such as the navy seal. The comparison is like the Special Forces and they only recruits the best, so
does Tesla Motors. Another strengths that the company has are a good tracking record of the CEO
since Elon Musk has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
SolarCity and Tesla Motors are collaborating with each other. Tesla stores are comparing to the
Apple stores and are an innovative to market the Tesla cars. The Tesla–owned Superchargers are on
average 16 times faster than most public charging stations. With Tesla Motors you won't have to
worry about running out o batteries since Tesla is building their own battery factory.
One of the Weaknesses that Tesla Motors might have is the fact that the CEO Elon Musk is not only
the CEO for Tesla Motors but he's also CEO and CTO of SpaceX making his schedule a busy one.
Another weaknesses are that people are still not sure of buying an electric car. The company is had
to start building Tesla stores, so people can visit and learn why electric cars belongs to the future.
The infrastructure around electric cars does not exist. Tesla Motors are doing their best to change
this by building Superchargers, which are like gas stations but for electric vehicles only. Another
weaknesses is that Tesla Motors only build the Model S car, so people really don't have different
options in choosing different cars. In the near future the company is designing an SUV called Model
X, with plans to design a cheap electric car, a new sports car, and even an electric truck to give it's
customers options when buying a vehicle. One thing that is not good for the company is that the
batteries have no

Abstract– The paper presents an analytic insight into the speed control of a dc Motor drive using a
more stout, prompt and stabilized technique than conventionally used. The desired dynamics are
difficult to achieve with conventional controllers. New techniques are attempted in the literature to
get the desired performance. Here, Sliding Mode Control – a robust and non–linear control, is
considered. Its understanding is simple and the performance of the whole drive system is found to
be much enhanced as compared to the conventional Proportional Integral Control method. In this
paper, analysis of the dc drive is done when subjected to different circumstances of speed variations
as well as load variations. It is then established that the range of speed under which the drive can
operate – without changing the parameters of the controllers, is much wider with the Sliding Mode
Control.
Keywords– dc Motor, PI Control, SMC, VSC, Matlab/Simulink Introduction
Dc Motors were once the only devices known to convert electrical energy to mechanical energy or
vice versa. Although they were inherited successfully by ac motors and vector control drives; they
still show promising advantages like reliability, cost effectiveness, and moreover operator
friendliness.

Case Overview
The Yellowtail Marine, Inc. case combines corporate and industry data with an "in–basket" exercise.
It focuses attention on the difficulties of Robyn Gilcrist – the newly appointed President – to
efficiently managing the company's daily operations while at the same time developing a corporate
strategy. Robyn Gilcrist has taken over as CEO a few days after the death of Olaf Gunerson,
Yellowtail's founder and former owner. Therefore, there was no proper hand–over for Gilcrist.
Appointed by the company's new owner, Charles Boswell, the plan was for Robyn to have 12

Robyn should start by getting more understanding about the product, afterward she must wrestle
with the issue of what directional path the company should take and what changes in the company's
product–market–customer–technology focus would improve its current market position and future
prospects. Deciding to commit the company to one path versus another pushes managers to draw
some carefully reasoned conclusions about how to try to modify the company's business makeup
and the market position it should stake out. She must consider a number of direction–shaping factors
where to head and why such a direction makes a good business sense.
Looking into the case, some external considerations to start the first phase :
1. Sales situation : sales are slipping down from 10 Mio in 1973 to 8.4 Mio in 1975. Market for
outboard boat and outboard motor has been declining by almost 40% from 1973 to 1975 (recession
and raw material prices). 64% of the company product is Outboard boat. Inboard motor shows a
rather steady sales in the past two years, but the average price per unit has increased and therefore in
terms of value the inboard boat segment shows an increase trend.
2. Potential growth in the pleasure boat segment. Trailer sales is expected to pick up as the new type
customers avoid the complicated club / marina membership. Significant

A zero–voltage– and zero–current–switching full–bridge (FB) converter with secondary resonance is
another method in this primary side of the converter have FB insulated–gate bipolar transistors,
which are driven by phase–shift control and secondary side is composed of a resonant tank and a
half–wave rectifier [6]. Without an auxiliary circuit, zero–voltage switching and zero–current

leakage inductance of the transformer is utilized as the resonant inductor. It has many advantages,
including high efficiency, minimum and number of devices this topology is attractive for high–

reliability of the system and also more number of power electronics switches means more switching

losses and low cost. In this paper, the PWM technique is therefore proposed to minimize the torque

This heavy burden made the business impossible to sustain in the long run. High cost of internal
supplies GM's decline can also be concluded by the failure of cost cut. As sales decline, variable
costs, manufacturing costs and material purchases should also be reduced. However, since GM has
significant fixed costs, for instance the pensions and healthcare costs, it has been difficult to do costs
cut in a successful way. As a result, the total costs of GM remain much higher than the one of its
competitors. Wrong evaluation of customer needs Since 1980, GM has failed to respond to customer
preference and needs. This resulted in wrong focus on vehicle types in the U.S. market as customers
preferred smaller, cheaper and more efficient cars rather than the bigger vehicle that GM had to
offer. However, GM's profit mainly relies on the sale of SUVs and trucks, which is no more popular
and this led to the decline of sales and revenues. In addition, GM's cars are less fuel efficient
compared to its competitors such as Toyota and Honda. This resulted in a decrease of GM sales in
Asian and American markets. Furthermore, there is little differentiation among the vehicles
produced, so the various customer needs cannot be satisfied and it is more likely for customers to
switch to other brands that have better design. 4 External Factors Powerful competitors Toyota,

Summary –
This case study is about TVS Motor Company, the third largest two–wheeler manufacturer in India.
TVS is among the top ten in the world, with annual turnover of more than USD 1 billion in 2008–
2009, and is the flagship company of the USD 4 billion TVS Group.
1. What were the former characteristics of the market in India?

* The market had moved away from the family orientation scooter days. * Consumers were looking
for contemporary expression in keeping with the optimism and hope of the new generation. This had
to be reflected in both the design and the emotive proposition. * Stability, reliability and trust, which
were critical strengths of the TVS corporate brand were now taken for granted, important to have,
but no longer enough to which to build a differentiated proposition. * The new brand would
therefore have to stand alone; in fact perhaps lead the shift of TVS image towards modernity. * And
to succeed in this direction, there was a need to alter the thinking and functioning of existing
stalwarts within the company, with their strong technical orientation.

These are the words of Elon Musk, the co–founder and CEO of Tesla Motors, a technology

Tesla has several key drivers of differentiation, which makes the company occupy a unique position
in the market (Fig 5). Some key skills that have allowed Tesla to enjoy its competitive advantage
are: * Technology & Innovation Development: Its focus has allowed the company to move
faster and create groundbreaking ideas in EV technology. The list of patents is extensive (Fig 6). *
Human Resources Management: Tesla is constantly aiming at recruiting and working with the best
talents within the technology industry to achieve superior product development. * Company's
culture: Unlike most companies, Tesla is still being funded by its investors, betting on establishing a

Tesla's differentiation strategy will most probably be sustainable in the long run, but only if the

competitors will find ways to replicate their products, even more now that Tesla released its patents.

Introduction It was my first day in high school. Standing alone in the middle of the play ground
looking for anyone I know or can talk to, my eyes was searching all over the place. A pretty blond
girl standing alone was a scene that, for sure, attracted my attention then. The moment my eyes saw
her, my mind started thinking of ways to talk to her. After some time wasted thinking, I saw a girl I
know approaching the blond. Not willing to waste such opportunity, I marched forward toward
them. We had a nice chat through which I got to know the blond girl. She turned out to be a very

In April 1996, the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) brought a suit seeking
damages of as much as $300 thousands per women on behalf of 300 female plant employees. The
suit came after 15–month investigations of several sexual harassments complaints at MMMA.
Men vs. Women The idea of different subcultures for males and females, although they live in the
same country, taught the same values, and eat the same food, is not new. Although men and women
live under the same conditions, they are expected to behave and respond differently. Thus as Maltz
puts it: "The different social needs of men and women have led them to sexually differentiated
communication cultures, with each sex learning a different set of skills for manipulating words"
(Maltz, p.200). Maltz explains this by saying that each one of us learns his communication culture
through the period of, approximately, age 5 to 15, when "boys and girls interact socially primarily
with members of their own sex". Not only boys and girls learn to respond differently, but they learn,
self–consciously, to differentiate, with exaggeration, their behavior from the other sex (Maltz,
p.203). If we talk in terms of Hofstede four dimensions of cultural differences, then American men
culture could be described a culture that

Hello Kim,
I would like to help you find a quality, affordable childcare program that would ease your concern
with your son development with vocabulary, social, and motor skills. In this letter, I plan to address,
three things you should look for in a childcare environment that supports your son 's development,
three factors that could contribute to atypical development at this age, and give my assessment of
whether or not the child may exhibit a developmental delay and to note signs of a possible

These milestones are behaviors that emerge over time, forming the building blocks for growth and

Once More Of The Lake
"Once More to the Lake" is a short essay written by E.B. White for his column in the New Yorker,
One Man's Meat. "Once More to the Lake" is a story about a father who is taking his son to his
childhood vacation spot. On the trip, the father finds himself inside the memories of his past.
Throughout the trip, the father finds differences in the lake from when he was a child. While much
of E.B. White 's essay is set in the present, the author explores his own mortality as he looks both to
the past and to the future. Elwyn Brooks White was born on July 11, 1899, in Mount Vernon, New
York, and died in 1985. Throughout his lifetime, White had traveled to many places and held several
jobs ranging from reporter to army private. He became a multifaceted writer but primarily wrote
style manual, fiction, poetry, and children's literature. Throughout his life, White was surrounded by
many other talented writers including Dorothy Parker, Robert Benchley, and Stephen Leacock.
White wrote the well–known children's stories Stuart Little and Charlotte's Web. Many of White's
works were accomplished with the help of his wife, former editor, Katharine Angell. "Once More to
the Lake" was published in 1941 along with many other works on which he and Katharine had
collaborated. The year 1941 was the onset of World War II in America. Other countries had been at
war for some time. In 1941, however, the war became increasingly eminent for Americans. E.B.

Child Observation Essay examples
For this assignment, I observed my six year old niece, Faustine Bui who was born on August 16,
2007, at the park where I was babysitting her with her mom for approximately thirty minutes. The
park I observed her at is packed with children and dogs are allowed. There is a large play area with
jungle–jims and slide and it includes a sandy area which has a variety of playing equipment as well.
I first observed Faustine's biosocial development such as physical growth, gross motor and fine
motor skills. Faustine is 3 feet tall and she weighs 41 pounds according to my Aunt. She is a little
shorter than a lot of the six year old that she hangs out with and the ones in the park but I think that
her height is in the normal range for kids her age ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She had a hard time conquering the jugle–jim though. She kept waddling back and forth every time
she tried to get her feet up on the next bar and she eventually gave up and refused to return to the
jungle jim again. She threw a few balls here and there but she was unable to throw it very far or
accurate. By the age of three, children can already kick, throw, jump and climb things such as
ladder. By the age of six, children can skip, climb trees and over things, and catch a ball
(uofmchildrenshospital.org). I was unable to observe a lot of fine motor skills from Faustine but she
did pick up a stick from the ground, hold it like a normal adult would hold a pencil, and started
drawing in the sand. By the age of 2, children can scribble, fold paper, draw vertical lines and
manage semi–large object with their hands. By the age of six, children can copy letters, grasp
pencils like a grown adult, and copy complex shapes (kamloopschildrenstherapy.org).
I then observed her cognitive skills which included her language, memory, and perception. When
observing Faustine, I realized that she is one extremely talkative child. She would talk about
everything and anything sometimes she'd just sit in front of us and talk to us and to herself while
playing in the sand. According to Lev Vygotsky and his social learning theory, children use private
speech ("The internal dialogue that occurs when people talk to themselves, either silently or out

Once More To The Lake Essay
"Once More to the Lake" by E. B. White is about a man who decides to take his son on the family
vacation to the lake he took with his father when he was a child. During the essay, the author
reminisces on his trips to the lake during his youth and tells the reader about how things have
changed. The author uses wonderful detail and at some points in the essay feels as if he is a boy
again standing in his son's place with his father next to him. The author shows the readers he is a
man who enjoys time with his family and cherishes his memories at the lake by expressing how he
values the way things were in the past, and the joy that he experiences at this lake with his family.

B. White, serves its expressive purpose, using plenty of emotion, such as joy and happiness,
showing the author's value of the past, how he defines himself as a family man, and uses subjective
language. He also uses a literary purpose, to show that the essay is authentic with verisimilitude,
make the essay more entertaining with tension, provide artistic unity with a beginning, middle, end,
and a theme, and aesthetic language to add a certain beauty in the way he writes. The primary
pattern followed by the author is the descriptive pattern, describing the lake as it was when he was a
child and the way it was on his trip with his son. At times the author uses a comparison–contrast
pattern, to show the differences and similarities between his experiences as a child at the lake and as
an adult, The author of this essay uses expressive and literary purposes, and descriptive and
comparison–contrast patterns, to allow the reader to know what he is feeling and thinking, while at
the same time feel like they are there themselves with the use of his descriptions of the lake. His use
of the comparison–contrast pattern allows the reader to have a better understanding of the
differences the author is experiencing during his visit to the lake with his son. Altogether, it is a very

2.1 Explain How Children and Young People’s Development Is...
2.1 Explain how children and young people's development is influenced by a range of personal
factors There are 5 main personal factors that can influence a child's development, these are:–
Health If a child is in poor health then this will have an impact on their development. For example, a
child with uncontrolled asthma or cystic fibrosis may not be able to run around and be as active as
their peers. Therefore, this would mean that his physical development might not be the same. Not
being able to play outside would almost certainly affect the social development, as children make
many friendships on the playground and at after school clubs. Disability A child in a wheelchair or
with a serious physical impairment would find it hard to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Genetic A baby's genes are determined at conception. If something is faulty at this stage, this can
have a huge impact on the child's development. This may be physical or intellectual. If a mother
takes drugs or smokes when pregnant, there is an increased chance of delivering an underweight
baby at birth. It can also lead to cognitive problems for the child as they get older. Visual
impairment Children who have visual impairment usually have some vision; this can vary from each
child. Some children may be able to see outlines of objects while others may only be able to tell the
difference between light and dark. If a child has vision problems this nearly always initially delays
their physical development. Their gross and fine motor skills would be affected because they would
be unable to be as adventurous as children with good vision. Fine motor skills may not be in line
with other children as the child would find it hard to do tasks that require precision such as threading
beads or colouring a picture. Cognitive and language skills would also be affected, even if the child
was able to read it would take longer to learn especially if it involved using braille. With the right
interventions in place there is no reason why a child with visual impairment would not be able to
catch up with their peers. Hearing impairment Hearing is a very important

The transportation system is well structured and railways are connected with a network of ports and

In this book, we will take a close examination of the Tesla new model and old model.
1. First announcement: the very first time we got to hear of the Tesla old model was towards the end
of June 2008, through a press release that hinted at the prospects the company was considering.
2. Unveiling Model S: In the early 2009, the company released the prototype Tesla Model S into the
market. This was done during a press conference, another major step towards the realization of the
company's projection as they flexed their muscles in the motor industry.
3. Codename: WhiteStar: In the initial stages of research and development, this model was only
known by the codename WhiteStar, which would later change to Model S. Your guess could be as
good as mine, that the choice of the codename was symbolic of the company's optimism to shine in
the car industry, projecting into the far future.
4. Franz Von Holzhausen: While many institutions and persons enjoy the luxury and comfort that
comes with the Tesla old model, it would only be fair to mention that the brain behind the
styling/designing of the model was none other than Franz Von Holzhausen, a designer who was keen
in seeing the world go green. Indeed, it would go undisputed that his great courage and
determination bore tremendous contribution for generations to come, in making the world a better

The Crisis Management Lesson From Toyota And Gm
The Crisis Management Lesson from Toyota and GM: "It's Our Problem the Moment We Hear
About It"
Delay in confronting crises is deadly. Corporate leaders must have processes for learning of
important safety issues. Then they must seize control immediately and lead a systematic response.
Crisis management is the ultimate stress test for the CEO and other top leaders of companies. The
mantra for all leaders in crisis management must be: "It is our problem the moment we hear about it.
We will be judged from that instant forward for everything we do–and don't do."
These are key lessons for leaders in all types of businesses from the front page stories about Toyota's
and GM's separate, lengthy delays in responding promptly and fully to reports of deadly accidents
possibly linked to product defects.
The news focus has been on regulatory investigations and enforcement relating to each company,
but the ultimate question is why the company leaders didn't forcefully address the possible defect
issues when deaths started to occur.
On the recent regulatory front:
Toyota just agreed to pay $1.2 billion in a deferred prosecution agreement with DOJ and accept a
safety monitor for failing to disclose to regulators–and indeed misleading them–about accelerators
that became stuck on certain types of floor mats or because of certain elements in the accelerator
itself. The problem of uncontrolled speeding and deadly crashes began to appear in 2007, but it took

Value Proposition For End Customer
Value proposition for end–customer:
Allowing end–customers to have undisrupted production / operational process within Low Voltage
Motors by utilizing ABB's extensive network of Authorized Value Providers / OEM's and building a
stronger brand image through reliable and on–demand maintenance offering.
Overview:
End–Customers, who decided to share the data collected from SMT with ABB are eligible for this
option. Since the data is collected from multiple motors, and customer 's maintenance teams are
responsible for many other operations beside the low voltage department, end–customers face
unnecessary opportunity costs, which could be better utilized if shifted to their core operations. In
addition, End–customer maintenance teams are not necessarily certified to repair ABB products
(which can result in faster breakages, loss of warranty, etc.)
How ABB can seize this market opportunity:
ABB can enter by creating a new service offering through so called insurance approach. Within this
business model, customers are able to choose between a standard and premium option to reduce in–
house costs of their maintenance (through less on–site teams needed, less training) and also the risk
of bad service. Solution is simple, nevertheless highly rewarding. When the signal goes yellow / red,
end–customers contact ABB who, with their 24/7 responsive line, access to on–site / on–demand

The Effects of Globalization on Labor Relations in the Auto Industry in the 80s and 90s Over the
last several decades Labor relations within the United Auto Workers (UAW) and the automakers
they are attached to have been a roller coaster ride. In the 1960's and 1970's the Union made
substantial gains for its members in all aspects of bargaining. Wages were increased at levels
unheard of today and they made huge improvements on health care and other fringe benefits.
Membership was steadily increasing and the union's power was profound. The Nations economy

This meant that they needed to diversify their operations and build plants in other markets outside of
the United States. They also needed more flexibility within their current operations and an avenue to
reduce the amount of employees needed to manufacture vehicles. Technology was better than ever
and played a big role in the automakers plans to become competitive, however the union contracts
that governed the companies operating procedures were binding documents and limited
managements' actions. The union still had a considerable amount of power within the Big Three.
They were already organized and the contracts that were established made it difficult for
management to deviate from the agreements. The union contracts limited the flexibility that
automakers had with their hourly workforce and any changes the companies wanted to make had to
be negotiated with the union when the contracts expired. That practice was not an issue for the
foreign companies and the Big Three needed a way to get around this bureaucratic process. The
avenue they chose was outsourcing. The Big Three in their endless attempts to out do the
competition, focused on outsourcing work to automotive supplier companies. This was not a new
concept, but in the past there wasn't as large a disparity in wages between workers so there was little
or no cost savings and foreign competition was not a factor. This tactic saved the Big Three billions

Favorite Brand Paper In marketing the most important factor is the brand value. Majority of
customers prefer a particular brand and want to stick to it for a long time. This is the reason why
every company spend legal amount of money in marketing their product so it can build relationship
with customers which can stick to them for a long time. As far as my personal choice is concerned, I
have many favorite brands for different requirements but for this paper I will chose my favorite
brand which is Tesla Motors.
Explain a minimum of three reasons why you are passionate about this brand

vehicles as the Ford F–150 and Chevy Silverado pickup trucks. This shows that investors should
look at Tesla Motors as more than a traditional auto company.
Identify at least two other competitors in the same industry, and explain why you prefer your
selected brand over the competitors. TSLA(Tesla Motor Inc) is an electric car designer,
manufacturer ,and distributor. This company also participating with providing services to other
automotive companies. Tesla Motors Inc(TSLA), has two revenue segments: automotive sales and
development services. As of 8/30/ 2014, automotive sales accounted for 99.54 % of revenue, while
development services made up 0.33 % of revenue.

Hydrogen Power Of A Power System
1. INTRODUCTION: 1.1 Background: Reactive power in a power system is important to maintain
or support the voltage to deliver the active power demanded by the load side. Synchronous
generators are the main source of reactive power in most of the power plants. The reactive power
capability of the generator is the amount of the reactive support produced at the rated generator
terminals. The capability of these generators are represented by capability curves that are published
by the manufacturer based solely on the thermal limitations as shown in figure–1. But in the real
world, when the generator is employed in a power plant, its reactive capability is much less
compared to that of published generator capability due to several design and operating constraints of
the plant. This forms the basis to determine the reactive capability of the generator operating in the
power plant. Fig. 1. Generator Reactive Capability Curve (D–Curve) with Different hydrogen
pressures for Plant Under Study 1.2 Unit Capability: Unit capability of steam power plants using
synchronous generators is the amount of the reactive power that is produced by the unit considering
design constraints, system operations and limitations. In a Bulk Electric System (BES) unit
capability can determine the amount of reactive power required to improve the voltage profile. So, it
is important to define the capability limits to evaluate the voltage support under normal, abnormal
and emergency conditions. The

Parking Lot System Using Arduino
Parking Lot System Design
Musthakeem N. Mubeen, Mubashir Wani, Faza Fazul 0929897 0913527 1017094
The aim of this project is to design and build a prototype of an automated parking system which will
show the number of parking spaces left inside the parking lot. It will have a pre installed number of
maximum cars that can be parked. An infra red sensor will count the entry and exit of each car and
open the barricade for the entry and exit. The entry and exit system can how ever be chosen. A
display on the monitor outside the parking lot will show how many cars can still be ... Show more

It is just 7 LEDs that have been combined into one case to make a convenient device for the
displaying numbers and some
V. Hardware
[pic]
The connections of the circuit is shown above in the diagram. The connection shows that the entry
exit is linked to the 7 segment LED and thus using an arduino, we could make a simple system. The
IR sensors were digital and thus the connections are made to the digital side of the arduino mode.
The 7 segment LED is connected to the digital inputs of the arduino beard. The servo motor is also
connected to the arduino board and the board was programmed so as to give the desired output. The
LED is fixed to number 9 in the beginning i.e. when no car is in the parking lot. Then as the car
enters the IR sensor detects the car, opens the barricade for the car and reduces the number on the
LED to 8. This continues till the number of the available parking lots are zero. Also when the car
exits, the number on the LED is increased by 1. When the number of available spaces is 0, then if a
car tries to enter, the door will not open.
VII. FURTHER IMPROVEMENTS
[pic]
In the further research, there are two more factors that should be added to make the system more
reliable. Firstly, IR sensors should be placed over every parking lot.

Internationalization of General Motors
Internationalization of General Motors This paper examines the expansion of General Motors
overseas in its various phases, as well as triggers for internationalization and the problems faced
during the process. The paper also considers what benefits have been achieved through international
growth, and how the company can be classified with regards to Bartlett and Ghosal's 4 typologies.
Finally, the paper discusses the concept of a "world car," meeting the demands of customers across
the globe. General Motors, International; Internationalization; Globalization; Multinational; Growth

The oil crises of the same period did not help improve the situation by shifting consumer
preferences towards the more reliable and economical Japanese alternatives. GM responded not via
their traditional method of acquisition, but rather by creating alliances with Isuzu, Suzuki and
Toyota (Bordenave and Lung, 2002). 1.4 Globalization From the late 1980s to the present day, GM
has adopted another strategy: globalization, aimed at integrating operations at an higher level. GM's
ultimate goal from the 1990s was to produce a World Car, as announced through their Master Plan
in 1996 (Bordenave and Lung, 2002). The idea was to cut costs and achieve greater economies of
scale by halving the number of car platforms from 14 to 7, and sharing these platforms as well as
parts among the various brands within the General Motors family. In reality, however, this
programme failed.due to regional differences, such as Europe and Asia preferring smaller, diesel–
powered cars as opposed to the large, petrol–engined models of North America. GM was thus forced
to continue supplying different models to their various markets around the world. | | |1992 : Senior

Social Issues of Work in Ben Hamper's Book Riverhead Essays
Social Issues of Work in Ben Hamper's Book Riverhead Ben Hampers book Rivethead; Tales From
The Assembly
Line is a gritty in your face account of a factory workers struggles against his factory, his co–
workers, and the time clock. Hamper makes no apologies for any of his actions, many of which were
unorthodox or illegal. Instead he justifies them in a way that makes the factory workers strife
apparent to those who have never set foot on an assembly line and wouldn't have the vaguest idea
how much blood, sweat and tears go into the products we take for granted everyday. Rivethead is an
account of the entire life of Author

The assembly line principle as it matured in industrial society however, proved to destroy workers
creativity and stifle the very essence of human life. Growth and change. On an assembly line
workers are degraded to automatons, performing the same tasks over and over and over. Day in day
out, without ever having any knowledge or input into any of the other tasks related to completion of
the project. This monotony in the workplace spills over into the daily life of many factory workers
and affects how they live their life outside of the factory after the whistle blows as much as it does
while they're on the assembly line. This spillover was observed by Hamper of his Grandfather.
"Straight home from work, dinner, the evening news and immediately into bed at
7:00 p.m. He arose each weekday at 3:30 a.m., fixed himself some black coffee, turned on the
kitchen radio, smoked a handful of Lucky Strikes and waited to leave for work at a quarter to five.
This regimen never varied one iota in the forty years he worked for GM" (Hamper pg.6). It is fairly
clear that the monotony of the assembly line has a way of setting personal routines for it's workers
that eventually work their way out of the factory and into the home. One interesting question that is
raised, is whether people who like their life to be routinized eventually find their way to an assembly
line or if the assembly line monotony brings the propensity to routinize out in

Ethical And Ethical Issues Of Business Ethics

  • 1. Ethical And Ethical Issues Of Business Ethics The work of setting a positive ethical climate starts at the top of the organization as positive ethical attitudes filter down to employees. Ferrell et al. (2015) states, "the more employees perceive an organization's ethical culture to be the less likely they are to make unethical decisions" (p.134). Business ethics is not only about knowing what is right and wrong, or doing the right thing, ethics involves acting with responsibility, being objective when making decisions, putting honesty in all relationships, and maintaining employees' fairness. According to Hughes, Ginnet, and Curpy (2012), "conflict over values can arise even when an organization has clearly published values because leaders and employees have divergent perceptions of whether the leader's behavior embodies important corporate values" (p.177). Unfortunately, GM's ethical organizational culture has been seriously disconnected from the policies stated in their company. In the past GM's culture has favored cover–up over openness and legal contemplation over customer safety. The values embedded in GM's organization were not put into practice. Product defects were concealed from top management as well as the public, not only hurting General Motor's reputation as a quality customer driven culture, but also the owners of GM vehicles who were injured or died. A culture of secrecy seemed ingrained at General Motors, which can be blamed on former CEO leaders, the organizations structure, and organizational ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Essay on Tata Motors Tata Motors 1. Describe the economic characteristics of the global motor vehicle industry. The characteristics of the global motor vehicle industry are a boom in certain places and a bust in others all due to economic conditions in different nations. Four years after tow of Detroit Michigan's big three went into bankruptcy American car makers are going "full throttle" with sales in August hitting an annual rate that if substantiated can take them back over 16 million and that is a rate that was last hit before the economic crisis and 80% higher than 2009 when GM and Chrysler went into bankruptcy. The opposite is happening in Europe being in its sixth year slump now and with a weak economy, high petroleum prices and an aging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The next factor is to have a quality, compelling products that innovate and capture the customers attention. This is clear in that while people are statistically staying away from buying a car in exchange for public transportation especially in England, that luxury cars are selling well in worldwide poor economies. I would say the next factor is to create cars to sell to the U.S. market. Take the foreign market for example where the Ford focus in the United states is a clear C list car that isn't that desirable is a great seller in countries like Germany where it is highly desired. The third factor is public perception. Auto makers must capture the public attention for sales, not just make the "best" or cheapest car. For years in America we have an opinion that due to the bailout for example that foreign cars are better and as such seek out Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Jaguar etc. and not a Cadillac. We seen this with GM who was trying to sell the ponaic G8 that was half the cost of European performance sedans and was a failure in the U.S. despite being one of GM's most exciting cars ever made for the market. The forth factor would be to study the market carefully. Motor vehicle companies must compete globally to make a living and as such must examine the growing markets worldwide and ... In 1954, the company launched its first automobile; between 1954 and 1969, it collaborated with Daimler Benz to produce commercial vehicles. By the 1990s, the company had entered the passenger vehicle market. In 2004 Tata Motors acquired Daewoo commercial Vehicle Co. The next year, it acquired a 21% stake in a Spanish bus manufacturer, and in May 2008, it bought British automotive icons Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford Motor Co. To be sure, even Mercedes had two false starts before getting its pitch for the Smart car right. A company spokesperson agreed that the Nano became a victim of its own hype. The marketing pitch is now aimed at breaking that image and giving the brand a more emotive personality as a mobility solution, a smart city car. The Nano Awesomeness ad campaign is a step in that direction. The product strategy which will be adapted would be the straight product extension, which is marketing the car in another foreign market without any change. This is because there would be no additional product development cost, manufacturing changes, or new promotion. 3.2 Product Review There are three variants in the Nano range: Nano, Nano CX and Nano LX Only the Nano CX variant would be introduced in the Srilankan and Malaysian Market for the first stage Tata Nano LX will introduced in the Malaysia and Srilanka Market during the following year The car has achieved its low price by minimizing costs on unnecessary "luxuries", the basic Nano comes without front and rear fog lights, without a heater or air conditioning, withoutanti–lock brakes, only one single windscreen wiper, manually operated windows, manual steering with no air bags, tiny 12" wheels, plastic body parts joined with adhesive instead of more conventional metal and welding and a two cylinder 623 cc engine that provides a massive maximum speed of 65 mph (around 105 km/h). • 7. Hybrid Vehicle Abstract: As gas prices raise the average automobile consumer demands a better, more fuel efficient vehicle. This demand has forced manufacturers to begin producing hybrid vehicle; first four door hybrid sedan was unveiled by Toyota in 2000. The Toyota Prius' success encouraged it competitors to roll out their hybrid cars as well setting a common standard for environmentally friendly and efficient vehicles. The relationship of consumer and manufacturer in the car industry on a macro level has always been one in relative equilibrium. As demand increases the car manufacturers have increased supply. The green movement in the United States pushed for hybrid vehicles and car manufacturers responded by producing more vehicles, making the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be seen by the younger age group that has recently begun purchasing hybrid vehicles. Sales in 2005 of hybrid vehicles only 12.34% were purchased by individuals ages 30–39 and only 9.61% were purchased by individuals ages 20–29; in 2011 12.68% were ages 30–39 and 17.84% were ages 20–29. (Priuschat.com) The increasing attention the younger population places on environmentally friendly and less gas consuming vehicles the more likely corporations are going to spend time and energy devoted towards its research and development. Hybrid cars in themselves have become more and more fuel efficient from a Prius bought in 2005 which provided an EPA estimated 37.2 miles per gallon is in 2011 providing 42.7 miles per gallon. With media attention car manufacturers are increasing what the vehicle can do and making them more and more efficient. A major factor for individuals who are seeking to purchase a new vehicle is the cost of gasoline which has risen almost 32% since January 2011. The chart below indicates the trend of increasing gas prices. As prices increase demand inherently falls creating room for alternative products to step in. "16% of Prius buyers stated that the primary reason for buying the Prius was to save money on gas." (inflationdata.com). CYP 3.1 – 3.4 Explain how different types of interventions can promote positive outcomes for children and young people where development is not following the expected pattern. There are many different types of professionals who can offer support to children who are not following the expected pattern of development, the support is usually coordinated by the schools, SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co–ordinator). If a child starts school with a disability the SENCO will have been informed by the child's parents prior to the child starting. The child may already be receiving support from a number of professionals. For example a child with a physical disability may well be receiving treatment from a physiotherapist, with exercises given to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Educational Psychologist A child will be assessed by an educational psychologist if there are concerns about their intellectual, communication and behavioural development. Assessments can be arranged by the SENCO or independently. The aim of the assessments is to find out why the child is not progressing and what support is needed in order for them to progress. Specific learning difficulties are often identified in this way such as Dyslexia, AHAD, Dyspraxia. Support and targets for the child are then set to help them achieve. The outcome of the assessments may involve the child referred to other professionals e.g. occupational therapist, optometrist, speech and language therapist, psychiatrist. The psychologist will advise the school on how to promote development for example, keeping verbal instructions simple. Keep stories and group activities short to match attention span. Additional Learning Support Additional learning support means giving children extra help or support so they can get the most out of their education and reach their fullest potential. This may mean for example a physically disabled child needs one to one assistance throughout the school day when moving around the school buildings. However it does not just apply to children who have long term difficulties or disabilities. For example a child who has moved school mid year may need additional support for a short ... Despite Ford's elimination of 1/3 of its workforce, GM's elimination of 30,000 jobs, and Chrysler's cutting of 13,000 employees, the Big Three were on the brink of bankruptcy. All three testified before both houses of congress asking for loans to avoid default. The Big Three stated their demise would trigger 3 million layoffs within a year, plunging the economy further into recession. The purpose of the loans was to provide operating cash for GM and Chrysler, and to keep making auto loans available for car buyers. Ford Credit planned to use funds from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The question is: Did the government structure the financing correctly? The government decided to take an equity stake at GM and thus was facing the possibility that a substantial amount of these funds would never be repaid. The government has already written off or realized losses of over $7 billion as of April 2012[2]. More losses will come as the government sells its remaining stake in GM and Ally Financial. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the auto bailout will ultimately cost taxpayers a total of about $20 billion[3]. The Treasury Department is even more pessimistic, projecting that, at GM's current stock price, taxpayers will lose $23 billion[4]. Consequences Consequence for the labor unions: In an opinion editorial published by The Detroit News, Mitt Romney not only attacks the way the administration handled the bailout of General Motors Co. and Chrysler Group LLC, but argues that the United Auto Workers (UAW) union benefited from the bankruptcies in wake of contributing millions to Democrats and Barack Obama 's campaign. This spending greatly benefited the UAW and its members. Without the Administration's intervention, a smaller bailout would have required incumbent UAW members, not just new employees, to accept pay and benefit cuts. White's story "Once More to the Lake" is about a man who revisits a lake from his childhood to discover that his life has lost placidity. The man remembers his childhood as he remembers the lake; peaceful and still. Spending time at the lake as an adult has made the man realize that his life has become unsettling and restless, like the tides of the ocean. Having brought his son to this place of the past with him, the man makes inevitable comparisons between his own son and his childhood self, and between himself as an adult and the way he remembers his father from his childhood perspective. I would be in the middle of some simple act, I would be picking up a bait box or laying down a table fork, or I would be saying something and suddenly it would be not I but my father who was saying the words or making the gesture (White 151). When the man lay in bed early one morning, he heard his son sneak out to take a canoe out on the lake, just as he used to do when he was a child. By "living a dual existence" the man could see from two perspectives; his son sneaking out early in the morning, his father lying in bed listening to his son sneak out. "I began to sustain the illusion that he was I, and therefore, by simple transposition, that I was my father" (White 151). The man's alternate ways of viewing these events convinced him that he was becoming his father. This thought eventually leads to the man's realization that he will die someday, just as his father did. A thunderstorm came over the lake one day when the man was a child. He remembered swimming in the lake just after the storm passed, but while rain was still coming down. Just like the scene from his childhood, another thunderstorm came over the lake, only instead of swimming in the lake with the others, the man merely watched his son put on his bathing suit. Analysis of SMC based Variable–Speed Phase–Controlled dc Drive for its Speed Range Mohammad Ali and Mohammad Ayyub Department Of Electrical Engineering Aligarh Muslim University Aligarh, UP, India Email: m_ali.rs@amu.ac.in Abstract– The paper presents an analytic insight into the speed control of a dc Motor drive using a more stout, prompt and stabilized technique than conventionally used. The desired dynamics are difficult to achieve with conventional controllers. New techniques are attempted in the literature to get the desired performance. Here, Sliding Mode Control – a robust and non–linear control, is considered. Its understanding is simple and the performance of the whole drive system is found to be much enhanced as compared to the conventional Proportional Integral Control method. In this paper, analysis of the dc drive is done when subjected to different circumstances of speed variations as well as load variations. It is then established that the range of speed under which the drive can operate – without changing the parameters of the controllers, is much wider with the Sliding Mode Control. However, since GM has significant fixed costs, for instance the pensions and healthcare costs, it has been difficult to do costs cut in a successful way. As a result, the total costs of GM remain much higher than the one of its competitors. Wrong evaluation of customer needs Since 1980, GM has failed to respond to customer preference and needs. This resulted in wrong focus on vehicle types in the U.S. market as customers preferred smaller, cheaper and more efficient cars rather than the bigger vehicle that GM had to offer. Men vs. Women The idea of different subcultures for males and females, although they live in the same country, taught the same values, and eat the same food, is not new. Although men and women live under the same conditions, they are expected to behave and respond differently. Thus as Maltz puts it: "The different social needs of men and women have led them to sexually differentiated communication cultures, with each sex learning a different set of skills for manipulating words" (Maltz, p.200). Maltz explains this by saying that each one of us learns his communication culture through the period of, approximately, age 5 to 15, when "boys and girls interact socially primarily with members of their own sex". • 49. Once More Of The Lake "Once More to the Lake" is a short essay written by E.B. White for his column in the New Yorker, One Man's Meat. "Once More to the Lake" is a story about a father who is taking his son to his childhood vacation spot. On the trip, the father finds himself inside the memories of his past. Throughout the trip, the father finds differences in the lake from when he was a child. While much of E.B. White 's essay is set in the present, the author explores his own mortality as he looks both to the past and to the future. Elwyn Brooks White was born on July 11, 1899, in Mount Vernon, New York, and died in 1985. Throughout his lifetime, White had traveled to many places and held several jobs ranging from reporter to army private. He became a multifaceted writer but primarily wrote style manual, fiction, poetry, and children's literature. Throughout his life, White was surrounded by many other talented writers including Dorothy Parker, Robert Benchley, and Stephen Leacock. White wrote the well–known children's stories Stuart Little and Charlotte's Web. Many of White's works were accomplished with the help of his wife, former editor, Katharine Angell. "Once More to the Lake" was published in 1941 along with many other works on which he and Katharine had collaborated. The year 1941 was the onset of World War II in America. Other countries had been at war for some time. In 1941, however, the war became increasingly eminent for Americans. E.B. White did not slow down his writing during ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is a large play area with jungle–jims and slide and it includes a sandy area which has a variety of playing equipment as well. I first observed Faustine's biosocial development such as physical growth, gross motor and fine motor skills. Faustine is 3 feet tall and she weighs 41 pounds according to my Aunt. For example, a child with uncontrolled asthma or cystic fibrosis may not be able to run around and be as active as their peers. Therefore, this would mean that his physical development might not be the same. Not being able to play outside would almost certainly affect the social development, as children make many friendships on the playground and at after school clubs. If something is faulty at this stage, this can have a huge impact on the child's development. This may be physical or intellectual. If a mother takes drugs or smokes when pregnant, there is an increased chance of delivering an underweight baby at birth. It can also lead to cognitive problems for the child as they get older. Visual impairment Children who have visual impairment usually have some vision; this can vary from each child. Some children may be able to see outlines of objects while others may only be able to tell the difference between light and dark. If a child has vision problems this nearly always initially delays their physical development. Their gross and fine motor skills would be affected because they would be unable to be as adventurous as children with good vision. Fine motor skills may not be in line with other children as the child would find it hard to do tasks that require precision such as threading beads or colouring a picture. Cognitive and language skills would also be affected, even if the child was able to read it would take longer to learn especially if it involved using braille. With the right interventions in place there is no reason why a child with visual impairment would not be able to catch up with their peers. Hearing impairment Hearing is a very important ... The news focus has been on regulatory investigations and enforcement relating to each company, but the ultimate question is why the company leaders didn't forcefully address the possible defect issues when deaths started to occur. On the recent regulatory front: Toyota just agreed to pay $1.2 billion in a deferred prosecution agreement with DOJ and accept a safety monitor for failing to disclose to regulators–and indeed misleading them–about accelerators that became stuck on certain types of floor mats or because of certain elements in the accelerator itself. • 73. Hydrogen Power Of A Power System 1. INTRODUCTION: 1.1 Background: Reactive power in a power system is important to maintain or support the voltage to deliver the active power demanded by the load side. Synchronous generators are the main source of reactive power in most of the power plants. The reactive power capability of the generator is the amount of the reactive support produced at the rated generator terminals. The capability of these generators are represented by capability curves that are published by the manufacturer based solely on the thermal limitations as shown in figure–1. But in the real world, when the generator is employed in a power plant, its reactive capability is much less compared to that of published generator capability due to several design and operating constraints of the plant. This forms the basis to determine the reactive capability of the generator operating in the power plant. Fig. 1. Generator Reactive Capability Curve (D–Curve) with Different hydrogen pressures for Plant Under Study 1.2 Unit Capability: Unit capability of steam power plants using synchronous generators is the amount of the reactive power that is produced by the unit considering design constraints, system operations and limitations. In a Bulk Electric System (BES) unit capability can determine the amount of reactive power required to improve the voltage profile. So, it is important to define the capability limits to evaluate the voltage support under normal, abnormal and emergency conditions. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The servo motor is also connected to the arduino board and the board was programmed so as to give the desired output. The LED is fixed to number 9 in the beginning i.e. when no car is in the parking lot. Then as the car enters the IR sensor detects the car, opens the barricade for the car and reduces the number on the LED to 8. This continues till the number of the available parking lots are zero. Also when the car exits, the number on the LED is increased by 1. When the number of available spaces is 0, then if a car tries to enter, the door will not open. VII. GM responded not via their traditional method of acquisition, but rather by creating alliances with Isuzu, Suzuki and Toyota (Bordenave and Lung, 2002). 1.4 Globalization From the late 1980s to the present day, GM has adopted another strategy: globalization, aimed at integrating operations at an higher level. GM's ultimate goal from the 1990s was to produce a World Car, as announced through their Master Plan in 1996 (Bordenave and Lung, 2002). The idea was to cut costs and achieve greater economies of scale by halving the number of car platforms from 14 to 7, and sharing these platforms as well as parts among the various brands within the General Motors family.
