Symbolism In Beauty And The Beast
The Original 1991 Beauty and the Beast movie has many symbols. One of them is LumiГЁre the candle holder. In about half way through the movie
Belle goes to the west–wing when it is forbidden. When she enters the beast's room she sees a flower but right when she was about to touch it the
beast comes in and gives a big roar to frighten her off. It is then when she wants to escape and go back home with her father. When she was grabbing
her coat to exit you hear her share a small piece of dialogue with the LumiГЁre and Cogsworth. In this dialogue they asked Belle where she is going
and she says she can't be there another minute. With the cold wind coming in from the outside LumiГЁre's candles extinguish. Showing that the hope to

What Is The Beast In Lord Of The Flies
What is the beast? There are many times in the book that the group of boys mention the beast. Nobody really knows what the beast is but everyone
in the group is scared of this beast. I will be showing you what the beast is to the group of boys that were on the island. To some it is from fear,
others it is from the war or it could be, because of their savagery from being on the island too long. First, the beast is just their fear. The younger
children and the older ones are starting to be afraid of things in the forest that aren't even there. They are thinking the scary stuff from there dreams
are out there in the forest and they have nobody to comfort them throughout this horrifying experience. They transform those fears they are
imagining in the forest to be what they so call the beast. (Doc A) One of the little boys in the group who was six years old said he saw a snake
looking thing and he called it a beastie. He said in the morning it turned into the things that hanged from the trees and hung from the branches. Nobody
was laughing in the group and everyone was serious and scared. (Doc B)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the boys landed on the island World War 2 was happening. The reason the boys could think there was a beast is, because of the effect of the
war has on the boys. They saw what people were capable of doing and were scared of that. (Doc C) One night on the island while everyone was
asleep far above the island there were explosions from the planes fighting above them. After the explosions were over down came a man in a
parachute and he got entangled in the trees on top of a hill. In the morning two boys woke up and one of the boys were staring so intently at
something on the hill when the other boy looked in the direction the other looked at they both froze. Then almost in sync they both ran and fled over
the rocks. They ran all the way back to Ralph and had told him they had saw the beast. (Doc

Beauty And The Beast Analysis
A dark enchanted castle, a literal beauty, and an even more literal beast come together to form a tale so chilling yet very heart–warming. Director Bill
Condon and screenwriters Stephen Chbosky, Evan Spiliotopoulos, and Linda Woolverton recreate a classic Disney film with their 2017 rendition of
Beauty and the Beast. This movie was well worth the $160 million dollar budget spent on it, considering it grossed at $1.2 billion, according to
the–numbers.com. The movie plays into its romance, fantasy, and musical genres extremely well. Talented actors, singers, and screenwriters bring
this movie to life, while the beautiful special effects wrap you up in a magical world. The accuracy of the remake compared to the original movie,
the casting of actors, and the cinematography and special effects make this movie an immense success. One rose petal remains. Tension in the
kingdom builds. If the last petal falls, the curse will not be broken for eternity. Due to the cold prince's heart and selfishness, every human in the
castle has been transformed into a living household object by an enchantress. The prince himself was turned into a repulsive beast. He now must
seek the kindness and love in order to break the spell. All hope seems lost until one dark winter day, a lovely lady shows up at the castle looking for her
lost father. Perhaps she will be the one to break the spell. The new remake of Disney's 1991 version of Beauty and the Beast is everything that could be
hoped for and

Beauty And The Beast Comparison
Remakes have become prevalent this past decade. Beauty and the Beast is a classic story told down generations and tell the story of both the
emotional and social challenges women face everyday. Their stories are similar, but it's the small differences that truly change how the audience feels.
The new Beauty and the Best expands on motives as well as backstory missing from the original and adds a modern twist to reflect the new age of
empowerment for women.
The beginning of both movies start with the curse on the Beast, however the animated version fails to go in depth and helps the audience think of
the Beast more as a victim than a deserving punishment. In the remake, more clarity was shown on his life before the curse. It's harder to empathise
for him. At first, many think he isn't deserving of love at all. He is portrayed as a villain which seems crazy thinking that he would end up with a
princess, but it only makes his progress through the story more meaningful as everyone learns why he acts this way and all the effort he puts into
changing who he is once he finds someone whom he cares for.
No doubt that a large movement for women's empowerment is spreading across the country. Henceforth, the story of Beauty and the Beast is modified
to appeal to modern feminism. Belle is no longer a week and lonely bookworm. She became prosperous and independent. Just like her dad, she became
an inventor. Her washing machine was ahead of time, and she even began teaching a young girl

Imagery In The Beauty And The Beast
Social hierarchies with obvious class divisions are a reoccurring theme that Disney attempts to portray through the use of imagery in the film The
Beauty and the Beast (2017). The film illustrates a local village that is portrayed as an uneducated, working class that are trading various goods
between each other. Gaston is a character within the film who is a desired hunter that seems to be at the top of the working–class hierarchy within the
village. As the film progresses, Belle, a common female villager, is held captive within the beast's castle and when her father tries to save her by
explaining the situation to the village, Gaston denies his request and alienates her father from the village. Gaston uses bold statements such as, "I've
heard of the effects of dark magic, but I've never before seen it with my own eyes! This is a threat to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
39). The villagers within the film are easily convinced by Gaston because he has a high social standing within the community which proves that the
villagers do not possess critical thinking to make their own decisions. This proves that the villagers are oppressed because of their inability to have
agency of their own thoughts and beliefs. Marx and Engels argue that while the working class is completing their daily tasks, the ruling class takes the
role of "ruling intellectual force." In this case, Gaston takes the role of the "thinker" as he has control over the villager's thoughts and ideas. The Beauty
and the Beast (2017) takes on a theoretical approach to Marx and Engels beliefs within The Ruling Class and the Ruling Ideas by exemplifying the
simplicity of a community accepting ruling ideas and the inability to generate original

Monologue About The Beast
At last someone has seen it inside of me, but how does he know? What is so special about him? Maybe he will destroy the beast and become the
hope of the world like my granny told me that I was the hope of us. I never understood but I know I can see that the boy is the only hope of
defeating the beast within me. The young priest said that the one with the beast must die to defeat it, maybe that is the boy's destiny. I feel as if I
can drive it back, but is the boy seeing the beast enough to drive it back or is it too late? He isn't scared of me, he drinks the fear absorbing it as if he
has nothing to be frightened of; not even the beast. The beast hides behind normal faces making them stalk the night as murderers and torturers, maybe

The beast has relished my decay throughout these years, maybe I should just use a death van and get it over with. But the beast won't die with me
it will be passed down to another, who will suffer like I have. It may not be magic, maybe it is hope and truth of the boy that will defy the beast's
power at last. The beast will be weak, it must be, the boy named it that must have made him less powerful and controlled it. It must be his purity,
innocence and naivety that has given him the power to see through the walls, my skin and flesh and see my true inner self of the beast. Maybe that
is the reason I could see the beast when I was young because of my innocence and purity but I lost them as I grew. Now I am just a decaying old man

The Beast In Lord Of The Flies
William Golding, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, postulates that the frightening, but realistic story of mankind left everyone pondering, in his
1954 novel, Lord of the Flies. Golding deliberately uses the "beast" to illustrate evil and its existence in everyone; mankind's dark side into savagery.
His purpose is to make his readers aware of the immorality of human nature in order to help us examine the savagery that is dug deep in every human.
Golding pairs the decentralization of Jack's personality with Simon's hallucinatory disclosure to portray a complete picture of humanity's dark side –
that which the schoolboys mention to as "the beast." Golding utilizes the boys' fear of a mythical beast to exemplify their supposition that evil appears
from an outer force rather than from themselves. At first, this menacing beast in their imagination takes the form as a snake type beast that
camouflages itself as the jungle vines; afterwards, they appraise the likelihood of a creature that emerges from the sea or the additional existence of a
ghost. When they notice the dead parachuter who has settled on the mountaintop, the boys feel assured that they have evidence of a beast's existence.
Golding explains the outcome of terror on both the individuals and on the whole group. For individuals, terror falsifies reality. Such as when Samneric's
dread at spotting the dead parachuter broadens their experience from simply spotting motion to being actively hunted down the mountain

Beauty And The Beast Essay
ABSTRACT
Beauty and the Beast (La Belle et la BГЄte) is a traditional fairy tale firstly written by the French Gabrielle– Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve and
published in 1740 in French as a book. There are many adaptations of the fairy–tale all over the world in various mediums such as for the television, for
the stage and for the screen. Some are more faithful to the original and some others are very far from it. The most commonly known version today is
Jeanne–Marie Leprince de Beaumont's version which was published in 1756 and it was a shorten, simplify and revised rewriting of the original
because it addresses children. In this essay, we will compare and contrast Beaumont's version with the modern film adaptation Beastly (2011) directed

Introduction Nowadays is very difficult to find uniqueness in a text. According to Kristeva, texts are never original, they are always quote or using
other texts. The texts are not created for scratch rather than they combine some elements of the source text and they create a new product designed for
the needs of the target culture. We can found this intertextuality in our case study, Beastly.Beauty and the Beast is a traditional old classic fairy–tale
read by many people all over the world and it has entertained generations and generations. Beastly (2011) and Beauty and the Beast (1756) not only
have a completely different historical and social background, but there are many differences in the plotline as well. Beastly is a modernize version of
the original and its genre is romance, drama, and fantasy. To start with the plots, the original fairy–tale is about a man who was transformed into a beast

Merridew Beast Quotes
Jack and the Beast in Lord of the Flies Everyone faces fears in their life that affect them on an emotional and sometimes even physical level. Peoples'
fear can determine how they view life, what they are open to doing, and who they will look to for direction. Many authoritarian leaders use this fear to
gain control of their citizens. This idea of using this fear to gain control is demonstrated strongly throughout William Golding's Lord of the Flies. Jack
Merridew, a central character in the novel, uses the fear of the beast in order to gain and maintain control on the island. When the boys first landed on
the island, they surveyed it and found no initial threat. During the first assembly, the matters were not taken seriously, and life... Show more content on

They were in many ways sheltered from outside influences and violence. This meant that when Jack was first forced to make the decision to kill a
pig for food, he didn't. The boys "knew very well why he [Jack] hadn't: because of the enormity of the knife descending and cutting into living flesh,
because of the unbearable blood" (Golding 29). Jack's upbringing caused him to be unable to take the life of a living creature and have the blood on
his hands. When he covered his face with war paint, "he looked in astonishment, no longer himself but an awesome stranger" (Golding 66). Soon
afterwards, Jack is able to slit a pig's throat, proud of his accomplishments. This "new face" caused Jack to become numb to the guilt and shame that the
nature of his upbringing would have caused him

The Beast In Lord Of The Flies
In the Lord of the Flies, author William Golding demonstrates how each character in the story is changed by their experience on the island. One of
the most important symbols in the book is the beast because it was a very significant factor in shedding light on the separate beliefs of the boys and
their true colors. Each boy had a different initial opinion on the beast, and also how they chose to deal with this insight. By the end of the book, this
helps determine who they have become, whether it's for the better or the worse. All throughout the book, the beast is one of the main creators of
violence, fear, chaos, conflict, disorder, and disagreement. Ralph, being voted the chief, is responsible for taking care of everyone's problems and
fears on the island. The talk of a beast was just another thing that he had to set straight in a meeting. Or was it? The idea of a beast was first
brought up by a little boy named Percival. Being shy and scared, Piggy has to explain for him to the other boys that what Percival saw is the forest
"'was a beastie'" (Golding 35). However, the childish fear of a beast turned into a very real fear to all of the boys. Like most of the older boys,
Ralph is skeptical with this idea of a beast lurking in the island's shadows. He doesn't want the boys to talk of such nonsense because they already
have enough problems to worry about, being stranded on an island. This is explained when Ralph says: "'I say this. We aren't going to bother about the
beast'"

The Beast In Lord Of The Flies
In this essay, I will discuss the growing importance of the beast in William Golding's award winning novel: Lord Of The Flies.
Throughout history, beasts have been portrayed in many different ways, from grizzly bears, alligators, and even people. A lot of beasts have been
created as scary looking, vicious animals, who play the role of villains in stories. Some beasts however, are generous animals who capture the hearts of
princesses, such as the classic Beauty And The Beast.
In Chapter One, the choir makes a first appearance, and are first seen to be walking along the beach. Golding describes the choir as: "A party of boys,
marching approximately in step in two parallel lines and dressed in strangely eccentric clothing." How the choir are ... Show more content on

The beast is a binary opposite to the conch, it reeks havoc upon the island, evoking much fear and fright in the boys, and bring out their dark sides as
several become eager to hunt it down. The conch represents democracy, civilization and order in contrast to the beast, who resembles darkness and evil.
In Chapter Three, the boys start a fire, in hope of being seen by a distant ship and rescued. The mention of snakes in the fire evokes fear within the
boys, however, there weren't any snakes to begin with, only creepers and vines in the forest. The boy's fear introduces evil to the island, and their
imaginations begin to overpower them. The concept of snakes in the fire is an allusion to the serpent in the Garden Of Eden who stole innocence and
introduced humanity to its own physicality.
Furthermore, in the forth chapter, Golding describes there to be a "madness in Jack's eyes" as he talks about killing to the boys. The madness in his
eyes show a corruption of power, Jack has always been portrayed as the brave one of the group, the hunter who plans to take down the beast.
Jack craves power and control over the group, he constantly has to prove his self worth to others in a desperate need of validation as he descends from
civilization towards savagery. On the other hand, it suggests that Jack feels himself that he is being hunted, by the beast, and by the island.
Secondly, Jack explains his feelings of being hunted whilst

Beauty And The Beast Analysis
Jeanne–Marie LePrince de Beaumont wrote her well–known classic "Beauty and the Beast" in 1757 (Beaumont 26). This tale follows the basic outline
of all beloved fairy tales: the heroine is mistreated but in the end lives happily ever after with a handsome prince. Although this version is the first, it is
not the most well–known. That title would go to the Disney adaptations. There is one distinct difference between these two versions. In Beaumont's
tale, the Beast is kind to Beauty. Although Beauty recognizes the Beast's unattractive outer appearance, she also recognizes his kindness, as
displayed in this conversation between the two at the beginning of the story: "'Tell me, don't you find me very ugly?' 'That is true,' said Beauty,
'for I cannot tell a lie, but I believe you are very good natured'" (Beaumont 38). Beauty's answer shows that she is not only beautiful but kind as well.
She is trapped in the castle by the Beast, yet she still seeks to find the good qualities in her captor. Through Beauty's kindness towards the Beast, she
was able to break the spell and live happily ever after. In Beaumont's version of "Beauty and the Beast," the Beast is compassionate. Unlike the sisters'
husbands, he is ugly on the outside, but handsome on the inside. The lesson taught in this fairy tale is kindness is more important than outward
appearances.
Every night, the Beast would ask Beauty to marry him, and every night Beauty would refuse. She even said, "it is too bad he is so ugly,

Beauty And The Beast Stereotypes
Beauty and the Beast Despite of the happy ending in every Disney movie, many people do not realize the stereotype of gender roles played. In
many of these movies, the perfect man is typically portrayed as handsome, strong, and prosperous, hence the prince. While women played the roles
of being weak, sometimes underprivileged, yet charming with the portrayal of skinny waist, perfect skin, and singing voice. In addition, they were
almost always strained by an evil force before being saved by a man, who at last makes her a princess. These stereotypes were upheld in Disney
animations such as Snow White and the seven Dwarfs. Snow White, who is kicked out by her stepmother, stays in the woods. During this residency,

eventually changes himself to become more mellow for her. At last, this conclusion suggests the powerful role of Bell, who establishes the happy
ending, rather than a prince. Although like many Disney female characters, Bell is married to a wealthy prince, with the typical image of a perfect
female. However, Bell presents herself to be firm and determined, hence, rather than being the one waiting for help, she is the heroic character

The Beast History
There is a plethora of history behind the timeless story of "Beauty and the Beast", and throughout the decades, it has been transformed into many
different versions. Beauty and the Beast has been around for the longest, having roots in the Cupid and Psyche story that was written by Apuleius in the
second century AD. Originating in France, the story had an impact on the French people, making it one of the biggest fairytales of the time, especially
for females. Many times, the history of Beauty and the Beast can be tricky to figure out since there is just so much to it, and most the time, people just
focus on the feminism of it when history is a big part of it too. The history of this traditional story can be seen in so many forms, such as references ...

In the article, The Artifice, it starts out as, "Beauty and the Beast was first intended for adults and not young children," which shows how old
Beauty and the Beast is because it shows how much it was modified over the years. Beauty and the Beast had been considered a children's story for
as long as anyone can remember and for it to have been written for adults, it shows it has been around for longer than what people think and
remember. Much of the story had to be changed to make it a children's story rather than for young adults, and obviously it took some time for
someone to get the idea to change it from an adult story to a children's story. Beauty and the Beast, in particular, is considered a literary fairy tale in
which served as a way for aristocratic men to take other kinds of fairy tales and put their own ideas into it. Ideas of love and arranged marriages
arouse from these literary fairy tales once they were rearranged to suit these kinds of ideas. In this article, it is said that De Beaumont intended for
Beauty and the Beast to teach something different than what was previously stated. According to The Artifice, De Beaumont wanted to teach young
adult girls ways in which they would be satisfied with themselves, for example self– sacrifice, modesty, and virtue. Over the past years, writers have
forgotten these good intentions and instead focus mostly on the sensationalism of the romance. Now in modern days, the thinking of people has
changed so much that they view love, arranged marriage, and fidelity different than how it was viewed when Beauty and the Beast was first

Similarities Between Beast And Beauty And The Beast
Another fairy tale is decided to read from the blue fairy book was Beauty and the Beast, the original tale was written by the Grimm brothers and it
tells a story of a man who was cursed by a witch and turned into a beast. He could only transform back into a human from the love of a girl, soon a girl
comes to live with the beast in the exchange for the life of her father and soon falls in love with the beast. The fairy tale ends with the beast
transforming into a human and living happily. In the modern adoption of this tale titled Beastly by Alex Flinn, the story is told of a rich,
handsome teen Kyle that believes that a person's worth is based solely on their appearance. He is turned into a beast after he pulls a prank on a
witch named Kendra who is disguised as a teenager. As the original tale, the witch gives Kyle two years of time to find someone to love him as a
beast and with a kiss from his true love he would be turned back into a human. Kyle soon falls in love with Lindy and he takes her to live with him,
she hates him at first but then begins to fall in love. At the end of the novel, Lindy kisses him transforming him back into the handsome teenager he
was. In both of these versions, there were many similarities and differences, the similarities were that an attractive selfish man turned into a beast by a
witch. In both of these versions, the curse would be broken by a woman who loved the beast for him and would not care about appearances also in the

The Beast In The Book Of Revelation
In the Book of Revelation, the beast that came out of the sea represented the Roman Empire and its emperor Domitian. The beast is initially described
in Rev 11:7 as coming out of the abyss, and his daunting appearance is depicted in Rev 13:2–"He had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on
his horns, and on each head a blasphemous name" (REV 13:2). As the verses in Revelation illustrated, the best "opened his mouth to blaspheme God"
(REV 13:6). Moreover, "all inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast" (REV 13:8). It seems like the beast has authority and is in opposition to
the figure of God. As many scholars of the Bible believed, the beast represents the Roman Empire and its emperor, Domitian, at that time when the

On one hand, some believe that the Book of Revelation was the message from Jesus Christ's which was sent directly to Christians of the first century to
comfort them in a time of conflict and struggle. On the other hand, some comprehend the book of Revelation in another way–They argue that the
Revelation was not written only for Christians in first century, and the original purpose was not to console their pain. It's also important to explore
these different approaches to interpret the Revelation. The first kind of view which I hold is called the Preterist view. And the other view which
considers Revelation to be fulfilled in past history is called the Historicist view. Historicists would "see Revelation as predicting the major movements
of Christian history, most of them have been fulfilled up to the time of the commentator." According to this description, the historicist interpreters
regard the purpose of the Book of Revelation as predicting a part of the future (which in this case means after the1st century). Different commentators
in different time interpreted the Book of Revelation in different ways, but all of them only considered the history before the time when they studied it.
But if Jesus Christ was to show the future, why did he just show a part of it rather than the whole Christian history? To answer this question, a new
school called the futurist view emerged. "The futurist view

In France in the late 1760's, there was an atrocity that involved around one hundred animal–attack deaths caused by one creature, the infamous Beast of
Gevaudan. Per Jaime Hill, the beast was the size of a horse and looked like a bear, hyena, wolf, and panther hybrid. It had a long wolf or pig–like
snout. Many researchers believed there were at least two, or more than two, beasts roaming the area. The color of the beast changed every time the
beast was spotted; it would go from red to red with grey and white patches to red with stripes. Sometimes there would even be no red, it may just be
black or white. Locals believed it to be a werewolf, or a sorcerer who shapeshifted into a monstrous predator to feed on human flesh. The beast was also

June of 1767, a man said the beast could be killed, that he had found a way. He said he needed a holy bullet made of silver, blessed by a holy man.
He takes the ammunition into the forest and arrives back to the village with a wolf. Villagers agree it is the beast and no beast is spotted afterwards.
In 2000, historians notice things do not add up; a wolf cannot remove someone's clothes. In 2011, researchers concluded that Jean trained the wolf,
killed the people, and then killed the wolf to make it look like a beast. Still to this day, no one knows for sure what happened ("Mysteries at the

Per World of Mythology, the attacks of the beast started in 1764. People all around hunted every wolf they could find, hoping it would be the beast,
but the attacks continued. In 1765, Francois Antoine killed a large grey wolf, but the attacks continued Also in 1765, a doctor came across a man in a

blessed by a church, it could kill the beast. Chastel got three silver bullets blessed by the local church and went into the woods, returning with a

After reading Lord of the Flies many people think to themselves what is the "Beast". Well if you take a few moments to think about what you have
read you may think of a few things. Like perhaps, it was fear taking over their body and there wasn't really anything there, or may think war. They
knew that war was going on the violence was surrounding them and for there to be violence there has to be some kind of contact with someone or
maybe even something. Another thing you might think of is they are most likely going insane on this island. It is so different compared to where they
came from and it is a huge change. The "Beast" may just be fear taking over the kid's minds thinking that they hear and see something horrifying but
really there is nothing there or maybe there is but their mind tricks them into thinking it is a "Beast". Document A states, "The younger children first,

A primary conflict in the story was that Fleete was disrespecting a religious statue that other people worshipped. The narrator and Strickland are
ashamed of their actions and behavior to force the silver man to relieve Fleete of the curse. There were cultural disagreements on what was right and
wrong about Fleete's actions to bring upon the curse. Then the actions that followed his transformation into the beast caused him to do unrighteous
things that he couldn't control. This caused many cultural misunderstandings because they didn't know how to intake the actions and the effects of the
actions taken in the story.
8.In the story, Kipling never truly explains where the silver man came from or his religious meaning and symbolism with the monkey–god statue. He
also never fully revived Fleete of his sins due to the actions he had taken. Something that Kipling never explained was how the story relates to the
Bible in the different places of the story that he makes references to. The description of the "leper white as snow" comes from the book of Revelation,

Symbolism Of The Beast In Frankenstein
What did the beast represent at the beginning of the story, what was the monster supposed to be at first before it was heavily involved in the story?
Before it was heavily involved, they were eager to go on a rampage in the middle of the whole story, they were beginning to become uncivil, they
themselves were slowly turning into a beast "found themselves eager to take place in his demented but partly secure society. They were glad to touch
the brown backs of the fence that hemmed in the terror and made it governable" pg.152 They were slowly unwinding, they were turning into beast

Cruelty In Beauty And The Beast
Pardoned or Punished?
"We don't like what we don't understand, in fact it scares us," is a disturbing, yet unfortunately (occasionally) true line from "The Mob Song" in
Disney's Beauty and the Beast. While it is sung by a group of fearful townspeople, this has been known to ring true in everyday life. Thankfully, the
people behind Disney's classic, Beauty and the Beast, tried to teach a generation this lesson through the protagonist, Belle. Through her caring nature,
Belle drives the movie's theme of not judging a book by its cover.
In Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Belle is misunderstood, kind, and perceptive. Belle is shown to be misunderstood when she is walking through the
streets, reading her book. The other townspeople remark, "that girl is strange, no question" (Beauty and the Beast). With the simple act of reading a
book, the townspeople are quick to cast her out. At no point do any of the townspeople learn more about her to fully understand her. Even though she
is misunderstood, Belle is also kind. After being taken prisoner at the castle, she helps the beast relearn several basic life skills, like how to use
utensils and how to read. After reading him Romeo and Juliet, Beast makes the request that she read it again. She turns it back on him and asks him to
read. When he hesitates, she realizes that he has forgotten how, and she says, "Here, let me help you" (Beauty and the Beast). Through helping him
instead of questioning or taunting him, she shows the kind and

Comparison Of Beauty And The Beast
"Just a little change, Small to say the least, Both a little scared, Neither one prepared, Beauty and the Beast." The beautiful beauty and beast song.
Three versions of this story all similar yet, different. From the original published in 1757 by Jeanne–Marie LePrince de Beaumont. To Disney and then
to the new one. The change from the 1756 version to disney's is character difference. Belle, the Inventor in Emma Watson's is just as bookish, but in
disneys she's an inventor as well. The movie also gives a deeper meaning to why she's spurned by the villagers: She's the only woman in a town that's
skeptical of change and knowledge. No longer the original story's main inventor, Kevin Kline's Maurice is now an artist and music–box maker whose
home is full of half–drawn portraits. Gaston also changes. Disney's alpha male bad guy gets a better deal this time. As Gaston, Luke Evans is more
ornery than menacing. He is more irritating then mean. Maurice didn't mean to stumble upon Beast's enchanted castle, he was looking for food and
shelter. While he's there, he decides to take one single rose back to his beloved daughter, and that is what earns him a life sentence in the castle
dungeon. In the disneys movie, simply trespassing was enough. The enchantress who cursed the castle gets some more powerful magic. Not only are
the prince and his castle's staff transformed, but the stakes are a little higher. By the time the final rose petal drops, the staff won't just stay in their

" He says in the morning it turned into them things like ropes in the trees and hung in the branches. He says will it come back tonight?" In the Lord
of the Flies, a group of boys are stranded on an isolated, unnamed island. These boys are being pursued by an unidentifiable "beast". However, what
does this "beast" symbolize or represent? Over time the understanding of the "beast" materializes in various forms. Initially, the "beast" is a
manifestation of fear. According to the text, " the darkness of night and forest with spirits and demons... previously only appeared in their dreams..." (

In the text it states, " He finds the airman, rotting... then he sets off, weak and staggering, to tell the other boys that the beast is human..." (
Document E: The Beast is Human ). To clarify, Simon, one of the boys, goes searching for the supposed monster. He then finds deceased airman
rotting; he then commenced his way to tell them his discovery. The author wrote, "the beast was on its knees... crying out... the crowd surged after
it... leapt onto the beast, screamed, struck, bit, tore. There were no words... no movements... already its blood staining the sand." ( Document F:
Maybe It's Only Us ). In other words, after the boys formed a new tribe they set their minds on killing the beast. Simon comes to tell the boys about
his findings, but the boys believe he is the "beast". They brutally beat Simon to death in belief that he was the monster causing their distress. This
proves that these children had let their imagination truly run wild. They went into the mode Kill or Be Killed and ended up savagely killing a young
boy. In the final analysis of the Lord of the Flies it is really the children who demonstrate who the beast is. They first to on the presence of
overwhelming fear, which eventually becomes that of war and lastly the savage nation of mankind. Because these boys were left alone with no one to "

Beauty And The Beast Stereotypes
Beauty and the Beast: another American misinterpreted folktale! But no, it's not one may say, rather one would simply call it off as another cute
Disney movie depicting a love story between a princess and a creature. However is that what everyone else sees? In the American Disney film the
motif of the beautiful maiden, forbidden to look upon her lover, "a universal literary occurrence," is presented. Foreign to the story, in terms of such a
public stage, and too blinded by the impression of love, America and other patrons of the Disney stories cling to the folktale. Disregarding the conflict
of gender roles and stereotypes that exist, people latch on to the storyline. In the movie, there is a social injustice done. It is one towards both men...

Analysis Of Beauty And The Beast
The version of Beauty and the Beast by Jeanne– Marie LePrince De Beaumont tells a compelling story of a young women making sacrifices for her
family, and finding love through these sacrifices. Beauty and the Beast is a fairytale meant to educate young children on the importance of family, and
that life is full of making sacrifices; while also teaching children to appreciate what is on the inside, and not just on the outside. The protagonist of the
tale is Beauty. Beauty is a caring, family– oriented, strong, loyal girl whom everyone in the town adores. She kept to herself, but would do anything for
anyone, especially her father. With many opportunities to get married, Beauty stayed loyal to her father, until she realized she was inlove with Beast.
When the family lot their fortune men still proposed to Beauty, even though she did not have money. Beauty politely turned them down; "She told them
that she could not bring herself to abandon her poor father in his distress and that she would go with him to the country in order to comfort him and
help him with his work." (32) Beauty and the Beast is a tale that describes the true meaning of family, and the sacrifices that occur. Beauty makes a
lot of sacrifices throughout the tale for the purpose of family, unlike her two older sisters. "Beauty got up every day at four in the morning and started
cleaning the house and preparing breakfast for the family. It was hard at first, because she was not used to working like a servant."

Beast In Lord Of The Flies
The concept of the beast within The Lord of the Flies is one which can be interpreted in countless ways. The children picture it as a snake or a sea
creature, while Ralph and Jack tend to picture it as an ape or other wild animal. Although the beast is pictured as all these various animals, one thing
remains constant: there really is no beast. That is, not a tangible one at least. The boys on the island try their hardest to personify the beast as
something, when in reality it isn't something which can be given form. The beast is a fear which resides deep down in the core of every human being.
It isn't something that can be seen, it isn't something that can be hunted, and it isn't something that can be defeated. Throughout the novel, the boys
give clues as to the true nature of the beast. Piggy says that there is nothing to be afraid of, unless that fear is of other people. Simon insists that the
beast is only within them, and Ralph mentions that he's scared of himself and the other boys on the island. The Lord of the Flies is a very successfully

Within Golding's novel, it represents the fear the boys experience while being unsure of their surroundings, their fate, and even themselves. This fear
is expressed through their actions, and these actions help contribute to the fear as well. The boys become capable of things no young children, or
anyone for that matter, should be capable of. They become bloodthirsty in a way that they don't quite understand, and this scares them. This fear turns
them violent, and Golding tries to express that this violence doesn't only exist within the confines of the island. When the boys are eventually
rescued, there is a very subtle irony which helps contribute to this universal idea of the beast. The boys are running around on this island, being
chaotic and killing one another, only to be rescued by a group of soldiers who are in their own, more formal way, doing the same

Beast In Lord Of The Flies
When a beast appears on a remote island, fear strikes the stranded boys in William Golding's Lord of the Flies. The beast starts off as a series of
nightmares and stories amongst the littluns, or the smaller boys. However, this rumored beast turns out to be existent, and as some of the boys begin
to embrace darkness, the identity of the beast becomes clear. The beast represents a primitive nature that all of the boys have within themselves. Fear
causes their society to fall apart, and it encourages primitive behavior. When fear is introduced into the boys' society, their civilization quickly falls
apart and fails because of it. As Ralph tries to convince everyone that there isn't a beast, "he felt himself facing something ungraspable" (37).... Show

After arriving back from his first hunting trip, Jack unknowingly admits his fear of an inner dark side to Ralph as he tells him that "If you're hunting
sometimes...you can feel as if you're not hunting, but–– being hunted..."(53). Jack is afraid of being hunted, which is ironically what he wants to do.
Although he may not realize it, Jack is afraid of his inner darkness; he's afraid that his obsession with hunting will turn him savage. Even so, as he
continues to pursue his mania, he causes conflict amongst their society. The majority of the boys side with him over Ralph in their battle for power,
showing that in times of fear, people will behave irrationally because they have lost clarity and go to desperate and violent measures to cope with their
fears. As the hunters, Ralph, and Simon search the island for the beast, Simon envisions the beast as "the picture of a human at once heroic and sick"
(103). Simon is the least beast–like out of all the boys, yet he is the only one to completely understand the mysterious beast. The fact that the boys
know that they could kill a monster, if needed, comforts them because they're making the beast into something they want it to be. The boys don't want
to accept that the beast is something within them because they don't know how to deal with it. An inevitable, nefarious nature is much harder to avoid
or defeat than a palpable monster. If a society is frightened of

Differences In Belle And The Beast
In Beauty and the Beast, the storytellers use the small town and the evil figure with a good heart to show that we as humans tend to be judgmental and
push away the people who are different from us without really knowing both sides to the story because we often jump to conclusions and assume that
we're right. In the movie, Belle and the Beast fall in love even though they are very different from each other. They looked passed their differences and
what people would think of them.
In the beginning of the movie, there was a prince who was being selfish, so a witch put a spell on him and his castle. The prince turned into a beast

He was a good person, but he was angry with the world because of what happened to him. I think the beast would be an example of an evil figure
with a good heart. He wouldn't hurt anybody, no matter how mad he got at times. When Belle went back to the castle, the spell was broken
because both Belle and the beast fell in love. The castle returned to the bright, happy, full of life self it was before. The sculptures that were meant
to scare people away, turned into angels protecting the castle. The dark colors making up the castle turned bright, and the thorns turned into
flowers. The beast, Mrs. Potts, Cogsworth, Lumiere, and all the other workers turned human again. The whole castle was happy again. I believe
that the only reason why people were mean to the beast, was because they were afraid. The beast was different, and the people of the village think
everybody should act the same. Since the beast looked and acted different, they judged him without getting to know him. I bet that now that the
castle is back to how it was many years ago, and the beast turned into the prince he was before, that people will treat him with respect. The beast
was mean because of the spell that was put on him. Nobody wanted to go into the castle because it was terrifying. The beast was lonely, and nobody
wanted to be around him. People judged him and assumed that he was just a mean person, without understanding what really happened to him. He
was a good person trapped in a beast's body, which made him an evil figure with a good heart. If more people would have taken the time to understand
the beast's situation, I think they would have enjoyed the beast's company. He was only cruel because people treated him like a

Analysis Of Beauty And The Beast
Last Saturday, September 30th, I had the opportunity to see ACT's production of Beauty and the Beast at Richland High School. Beauty and the
Beast was originally produced by Disney Theatrical Productions with music by Alan Menken, words by Howard Ashman & Tim Rice, and book
by Linda Woolverton. The story is about a young prince who is put under a spell for disrespecting an old enchantress. He is turned into a hideous,
fearsome beast while his servants are turned into enchanted objects. the spell can only be broken if he learns to love and his love is returned. 10
years later, Belle is a young French girl, a pariah in her community for wanting more than her simple, boring life in the village. She gets her wish
when her father is trapped in the Beast's castle and she trades her freedom for his. After a rather rocky start, Belle learns to love the ma inside the
monster and the spell is broken. It was rather interesting to see the vastly different ways these characters interact. Gaston (Chase Peterson), the main
antagonist of the show, commands the stage in a way very few people are able to. He stomps around the stade in a very confident manner, often
ignore those around him and being fully absorbed in himself and his goals. He believes that he deserves anything he wants and that is made obvious in
the way he walks and in the way he holds himself, flexing his biceps every other line. The Beast (Jonathan Edwards) is another character that

Summary of the Fairy Tale
The paper comprehensively analyzes the fairy tale of the Beauty and the Beast (2017 film) directed by Bill Condon and produced by David Hoberman
and Todd Lieberman (Hoberman et al., 2017). The analysis of the fairy tale illustrates the orchestrated play that presents Belle as a young and beautiful
woman who succumb in love with a Beast. The Beast has been in existence since it was cursed by the enchantress woman who later is revealed as
Agathe later in the play when she appears to lift the curse. The fairy tale shows the struggles between the Beast and Gaston developing into the enmity
and fighting for the beautiful Belle. In her efforts to save her father, Maurice, Belle encounters various instances that transform her love life and emerge
as a strong woman who appears to save the Beast and the servants back into human forms.
The analysis below further delves into the elucidation of the sacred characters that illustrate the evil and the good struggles in the tale. The issues
extricated from the tale illustrate the fight between the good and the evil further escalating into the infights in the society. The possibility of being
cursed in a lifetime creates complications of the Sacred Quest and how the characters can facilitate in raising the curse through good deeds (GUIDE,
n.d.). This occurs in constant evil fighting against the characters undermining their efforts to retain their quest. The journey in pursuit to regain the
human form has been illustrated as the sacred quest for the Beast to help transforms the servants as well against the turbulences of evil asserted by such
characters as Gaston.
Finally, after falling in love with Belle and her proclamation of her love to the Beast causes a stir in the fairy tale which sees Agathe lift the curse. This
earns the Beast and the servants their human form and becomes esteemed members if the kingdom (Hoberman et al., 2017). In the wake of the new
developments, Belle and the Prince host celebrations for the kingdom in which people express their happiness through dances in the party.
Sacred Character and Why
The sacred character in the film can be presented to be Belle who appears to be the key and line between the good and evil. Belle

Comparing Beaumont's Beauty And The Beast
Many people know the classic Disney tale Beauty and the Beast, but not many know where the story originated from. The Disney film is one of many
adaptations of a French fairy tale, La Belle et le BГЄte, originally written by Gabrielle–Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve in the seventeen hundreds. While
there are many different versions of the tale, the most popular of them all is Jeanne–Marie Leprince de Beaumont's version. It is the tale of how a
beautiful girl falls in love with a hideous beast, only to find out that the beast is actually a prince. Both Beaumont and Disney stay true to the moral of
the story, that inner beauty shines brighter than what is on the outside. The Disney version starts off with a tale of a selfish prince. One night an... Show

Disney's Belle is treated like a prisoner when she arrives. She is only allowed to eat when the beast does, and she is only allowed in certain parts
of the castle because of the beast's horrible selfishness and temper. The original Belle however is treated like a guest of honor. Belle is allowed to
do whatever she pleases in the castle. The beast treats her with respect and is very kind to her. Every night the beast asks Belle to sleep in the
same bed as her and every night she declines (Okapina). In both tales their relationship grows. In Disney's version the beast gets attacked by
wolves and Belle helps tend to his wounds, and their relationship sparks from there. The beast begins to control his temper and act a little less
selfish towards Belle. Eventually Belle admits she missis her father and wants to see him. The beast gives her a magic mirror that shows her
father sick and dying. The beast lets Belle go check on her father never expecting her to ever return. In Villeneuve's story Belle starts to have
feelings for beast because he is always so kind to her and treats her like a queen. Belle begins to miss her family and wants to see them. The beast lets
Belle look into a magic mirror that shows her father very sick, similar to Disney's tale. Belle begs to go see him. The beast gives her two months to

Male Beast Vs Beauty And The Beast
Throughout the course of our history, there have been many different types of fairy tales adaptations being created. There has been different
adaptations made into books, movies, and films. Every adaptation has a different central idea on what their adaption signifies. For example, in Disney's
version Beauty and the Beast, it has different meaning and central ideal aiming towards its viewers. In contrast, the fairytale narrative by Beaumont has
a total different view for its readers. Films and readings are very different, films tend to create a more visual and sound perspective view. As the
narratives, tend to create a visual look in mind, it tends to imagine it more realistically for the readers. However, not only can these be the only
significance difference in these different adaptations, some differences can depend on the perspective, media, form, and narrative they were created.
For instance, the animated Beauty and the Beast has different forms due for it being a film. Some of the differences can be.... Films have been a way

Beauty And The Beast Analysis
Beauty and the Beast Lately the company Disney has been remaking their popular animated films into live action ones. Beauty and the Beast was
originally released in 1991, but in March 2017 the live action version of the film, directed by Bill Condon, was released. The film may have been a
huge hit in 1991, but the remake got enthusiastic acclaim and success. Despite many groups promising to boycott the film, people still flocked to the
theater, causing some theaters to sell out of tickets. Although some people consider Disney films to be childish, Bill Condon's filmBeauty and the Beast
expresses the powerful life lesson that love comes in many forms, which is best displayed in the ending scene of the film, thus requiring maturity. The
live action Beauty and the Beast focuses more on the love between characters, than the animated one that was made in 1991. Among many other
changes, the 2017 film has new characters. Some of these new characters includes: Mr. Potts, Maestro Cadenza, and Clothilde. These new characters
are in relationships with the original characters, thus increasing the different forms of love. An example of how the 2017 version shows more love
than the older one is shown during the dance scene at the end of the film. In the 1991 version, the camera focuses mainly on Beauty and the Beast
(Wise and Trousdale, Beauty and the Beast). While in the 2017 version, the camera focus individually on all the couples in the scene (Condon, Beauty

Symbolism In Beauty And The Beast

  • 1. Symbolism In Beauty And The Beast The Original 1991 Beauty and the Beast movie has many symbols. One of them is LumiГЁre the candle holder. In about half way through the movie Belle goes to the west–wing when it is forbidden. When she enters the beast's room she sees a flower but right when she was about to touch it the beast comes in and gives a big roar to frighten her off. It is then when she wants to escape and go back home with her father. When she was grabbing her coat to exit you hear her share a small piece of dialogue with the LumiГЁre and Cogsworth. In this dialogue they asked Belle where she is going and she says she can't be there another minute. With the cold wind coming in from the outside LumiГЁre's candles extinguish. • 2. What Is The Beast In Lord Of The Flies What is the beast? There are many times in the book that the group of boys mention the beast. Nobody really knows what the beast is but everyone in the group is scared of this beast. I will be showing you what the beast is to the group of boys that were on the island. To some it is from fear, others it is from the war or it could be, because of their savagery from being on the island too long. First, the beast is just their fear. The younger children and the older ones are starting to be afraid of things in the forest that aren't even there. They are thinking the scary stuff from there dreams are out there in the forest and they have nobody to comfort them throughout this horrifying experience. They transform those fears they are imagining in the forest to be what they so call the beast. (Doc A) One of the little boys in the group who was six years old said he saw a snake looking thing and he called it a beastie. He said in the morning it turned into the things that hanged from the trees and hung from the branches. Nobody was laughing in the group and everyone was serious and scared. (Doc B)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the boys landed on the island World War 2 was happening. The reason the boys could think there was a beast is, because of the effect of the war has on the boys. They saw what people were capable of doing and were scared of that. (Doc C) One night on the island while everyone was asleep far above the island there were explosions from the planes fighting above them. After the explosions were over down came a man in a parachute and he got entangled in the trees on top of a hill. In the morning two boys woke up and one of the boys were staring so intently at something on the hill when the other boy looked in the direction the other looked at they both froze. Then almost in sync they both ran and fled over the rocks. They ran all the way back to Ralph and had told him they had saw the beast. (Doc ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Beauty And The Beast Analysis A dark enchanted castle, a literal beauty, and an even more literal beast come together to form a tale so chilling yet very heart–warming. Director Bill Condon and screenwriters Stephen Chbosky, Evan Spiliotopoulos, and Linda Woolverton recreate a classic Disney film with their 2017 rendition of Beauty and the Beast. This movie was well worth the $160 million dollar budget spent on it, considering it grossed at $1.2 billion, according to the–numbers.com. The movie plays into its romance, fantasy, and musical genres extremely well. Talented actors, singers, and screenwriters bring this movie to life, while the beautiful special effects wrap you up in a magical world. The accuracy of the remake compared to the original movie, the casting of actors, and the cinematography and special effects make this movie an immense success. One rose petal remains. Tension in the kingdom builds. If the last petal falls, the curse will not be broken for eternity. Due to the cold prince's heart and selfishness, every human in the castle has been transformed into a living household object by an enchantress. The prince himself was turned into a repulsive beast. He now must seek the kindness and love in order to break the spell. All hope seems lost until one dark winter day, a lovely lady shows up at the castle looking for her lost father. Perhaps she will be the one to break the spell. The new remake of Disney's 1991 version of Beauty and the Beast is everything that could be hoped for and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Beauty And The Beast Comparison Remakes have become prevalent this past decade. Beauty and the Beast is a classic story told down generations and tell the story of both the emotional and social challenges women face everyday. Their stories are similar, but it's the small differences that truly change how the audience feels. The new Beauty and the Best expands on motives as well as backstory missing from the original and adds a modern twist to reflect the new age of empowerment for women. The beginning of both movies start with the curse on the Beast, however the animated version fails to go in depth and helps the audience think of the Beast more as a victim than a deserving punishment. In the remake, more clarity was shown on his life before the curse. It's harder to empathise for him. At first, many think he isn't deserving of love at all. He is portrayed as a villain which seems crazy thinking that he would end up with a princess, but it only makes his progress through the story more meaningful as everyone learns why he acts this way and all the effort he puts into changing who he is once he finds someone whom he cares for. No doubt that a large movement for women's empowerment is spreading across the country. Henceforth, the story of Beauty and the Beast is modified to appeal to modern feminism. Belle is no longer a week and lonely bookworm. She became prosperous and independent. Just like her dad, she became an inventor. Her washing machine was ahead of time, and she even began teaching a young girl ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Imagery In The Beauty And The Beast Social hierarchies with obvious class divisions are a reoccurring theme that Disney attempts to portray through the use of imagery in the film The Beauty and the Beast (2017). The film illustrates a local village that is portrayed as an uneducated, working class that are trading various goods between each other. Gaston is a character within the film who is a desired hunter that seems to be at the top of the working–class hierarchy within the village. As the film progresses, Belle, a common female villager, is held captive within the beast's castle and when her father tries to save her by explaining the situation to the village, Gaston denies his request and alienates her father from the village. Gaston uses bold statements such as, "I've heard of the effects of dark magic, but I've never before seen it with my own eyes! This is a threat to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 39). The villagers within the film are easily convinced by Gaston because he has a high social standing within the community which proves that the villagers do not possess critical thinking to make their own decisions. This proves that the villagers are oppressed because of their inability to have agency of their own thoughts and beliefs. Marx and Engels argue that while the working class is completing their daily tasks, the ruling class takes the role of "ruling intellectual force." In this case, Gaston takes the role of the "thinker" as he has control over the villager's thoughts and ideas. The Beauty and the Beast (2017) takes on a theoretical approach to Marx and Engels beliefs within The Ruling Class and the Ruling Ideas by exemplifying the simplicity of a community accepting ruling ideas and the inability to generate original ... Maybe he will destroy the beast and become the hope of the world like my granny told me that I was the hope of us. I never understood but I know I can see that the boy is the only hope of defeating the beast within me. The young priest said that the one with the beast must die to defeat it, maybe that is the boy's destiny. I feel as if I can drive it back, but is the boy seeing the beast enough to drive it back or is it too late? The beast will be weak, it must be, the boy named it that must have made him less powerful and controlled it. It must be his purity, innocence and naivety that has given him the power to see through the walls, my skin and flesh and see my true inner self of the beast. • 7. The Beast In Lord Of The Flies William Golding, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, postulates that the frightening, but realistic story of mankind left everyone pondering, in his 1954 novel, Lord of the Flies. Golding deliberately uses the "beast" to illustrate evil and its existence in everyone; mankind's dark side into savagery. His purpose is to make his readers aware of the immorality of human nature in order to help us examine the savagery that is dug deep in every human. Golding pairs the decentralization of Jack's personality with Simon's hallucinatory disclosure to portray a complete picture of humanity's dark side – that which the schoolboys mention to as "the beast." Golding utilizes the boys' fear of a mythical beast to exemplify their supposition that evil appears from an outer force rather than from themselves. At first, this menacing beast in their imagination takes the form as a snake type beast that camouflages itself as the jungle vines; afterwards, they appraise the likelihood of a creature that emerges from the sea or the additional existence of a ghost. When they notice the dead parachuter who has settled on the mountaintop, the boys feel assured that they have evidence of a beast's existence. Golding explains the outcome of terror on both the individuals and on the whole group. For individuals, terror falsifies reality. Such as when Samneric's dread at spotting the dead parachuter broadens their experience from simply spotting motion to being actively hunted down the mountain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Beauty And The Beast Essay ABSTRACT Beauty and the Beast (La Belle et la BГЄte) is a traditional fairy tale firstly written by the French Gabrielle– Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve and published in 1740 in French as a book. There are many adaptations of the fairy–tale all over the world in various mediums such as for the television, for the stage and for the screen. Some are more faithful to the original and some others are very far from it. The most commonly known version today is Jeanne–Marie Leprince de Beaumont's version which was published in 1756 and it was a shorten, simplify and revised rewriting of the original because it addresses children. In this essay, we will compare and contrast Beaumont's version with the modern film adaptation Beastly (2011) directed by Daniel Barnz and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Introduction Nowadays is very difficult to find uniqueness in a text. According to Kristeva, texts are never original, they are always quote or using other texts. The texts are not created for scratch rather than they combine some elements of the source text and they create a new product designed for the needs of the target culture. We can found this intertextuality in our case study, Beastly.Beauty and the Beast is a traditional old classic fairy–tale read by many people all over the world and it has entertained generations and generations. Beastly (2011) and Beauty and the Beast (1756) not only have a completely different historical and social background, but there are many differences in the plotline as well. Beastly is a modernize version of the original and its genre is romance, drama, and fantasy. • 9. Merridew Beast Quotes Jack and the Beast in Lord of the Flies Everyone faces fears in their life that affect them on an emotional and sometimes even physical level. Peoples' fear can determine how they view life, what they are open to doing, and who they will look to for direction. Many authoritarian leaders use this fear to gain control of their citizens. This idea of using this fear to gain control is demonstrated strongly throughout William Golding's Lord of the Flies. Jack Merridew, a central character in the novel, uses the fear of the beast in order to gain and maintain control on the island. When the boys first landed on the island, they surveyed it and found no initial threat. During the first assembly, the matters were not taken seriously, and life... The boys "knew very well why he [Jack] hadn't: because of the enormity of the knife descending and cutting into living flesh, because of the unbearable blood" (Golding 29). Jack's upbringing caused him to be unable to take the life of a living creature and have the blood on his hands. When he covered his face with war paint, "he looked in astonishment, no longer himself but an awesome stranger" (Golding 66). Soon afterwards, Jack is able to slit a pig's throat, proud of his accomplishments. • 10. The Beast In Lord Of The Flies In the Lord of the Flies, author William Golding demonstrates how each character in the story is changed by their experience on the island. One of the most important symbols in the book is the beast because it was a very significant factor in shedding light on the separate beliefs of the boys and their true colors. Each boy had a different initial opinion on the beast, and also how they chose to deal with this insight. By the end of the book, this helps determine who they have become, whether it's for the better or the worse. All throughout the book, the beast is one of the main creators of violence, fear, chaos, conflict, disorder, and disagreement. Ralph, being voted the chief, is responsible for taking care of everyone's problems and fears on the island. The talk of a beast was just another thing that he had to set straight in a meeting. Or was it? The idea of a beast was first brought up by a little boy named Percival. Being shy and scared, Piggy has to explain for him to the other boys that what Percival saw is the forest "'was a beastie'" (Golding 35). However, the childish fear of a beast turned into a very real fear to all of the boys. Like most of the older boys, Ralph is skeptical with this idea of a beast lurking in the island's shadows. He doesn't want the boys to talk of such nonsense because they already have enough problems to worry about, being stranded on an island. This is explained when Ralph says: "'I say this. We aren't going to bother about the beast'" ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Beast In Lord Of The Flies In this essay, I will discuss the growing importance of the beast in William Golding's award winning novel: Lord Of The Flies. Throughout history, beasts have been portrayed in many different ways, from grizzly bears, alligators, and even people. A lot of beasts have been created as scary looking, vicious animals, who play the role of villains in stories. Some beasts however, are generous animals who capture the hearts of princesses, such as the classic Beauty And The Beast. In Chapter One, the choir makes a first appearance, and are first seen to be walking along the beach. Golding describes the choir as: "A party of boys, marching approximately in step in two parallel lines and dressed in strangely eccentric clothing." How the choir are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The beast is a binary opposite to the conch, it reeks havoc upon the island, evoking much fear and fright in the boys, and bring out their dark sides as several become eager to hunt it down. The conch represents democracy, civilization and order in contrast to the beast, who resembles darkness and evil. In Chapter Three, the boys start a fire, in hope of being seen by a distant ship and rescued. The mention of snakes in the fire evokes fear within the boys, however, there weren't any snakes to begin with, only creepers and vines in the forest. The boy's fear introduces evil to the island, and their imaginations begin to overpower them. The concept of snakes in the fire is an allusion to the serpent in the Garden Of Eden who stole innocence and introduced humanity to its own physicality. Furthermore, in the forth chapter, Golding describes there to be a "madness in Jack's eyes" as he talks about killing to the boys. The madness in his eyes show a corruption of power, Jack has always been portrayed as the brave one of the group, the hunter who plans to take down the beast. Jack craves power and control over the group, he constantly has to prove his self worth to others in a desperate need of validation as he descends from civilization towards savagery. • 12. Beauty And The Beast Analysis Jeanne–Marie LePrince de Beaumont wrote her well–known classic "Beauty and the Beast" in 1757 (Beaumont 26). This tale follows the basic outline of all beloved fairy tales: the heroine is mistreated but in the end lives happily ever after with a handsome prince. Although this version is the first, it is not the most well–known. That title would go to the Disney adaptations. There is one distinct difference between these two versions. In Beaumont's tale, the Beast is kind to Beauty. Although Beauty recognizes the Beast's unattractive outer appearance, she also recognizes his kindness, as displayed in this conversation between the two at the beginning of the story: "'Tell me, don't you find me very ugly?' 'That is true,' said Beauty, 'for I cannot tell a lie, but I believe you are very good natured'" (Beaumont 38). Beauty's answer shows that she is not only beautiful but kind as well. She is trapped in the castle by the Beast, yet she still seeks to find the good qualities in her captor. Through Beauty's kindness towards the Beast, she was able to break the spell and live happily ever after. In Beaumont's version of "Beauty and the Beast," the Beast is compassionate. Unlike the sisters' husbands, he is ugly on the outside, but handsome on the inside. The lesson taught in this fairy tale is kindness is more important than outward appearances. Every night, the Beast would ask Beauty to marry him, and every night Beauty would refuse. She even said, "it is too bad he is so ugly, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In many of these movies, the perfect man is typically portrayed as handsome, strong, and prosperous, hence the prince. In addition, they were almost always strained by an evil force before being saved by a man, who at last makes her a princess. Beauty and the Beast has been around for the longest, having roots in the Cupid and Psyche story that was written by Apuleius in the second century AD. Originating in France, the story had an impact on the French people, making it one of the biggest fairytales of the time, especially for females. In the article, The Artifice, it starts out as, "Beauty and the Beast was first intended for adults and not young children," which shows how old Beauty and the Beast is because it shows how much it was modified over the years. Beauty and the Beast had been considered a children's story for as long as anyone can remember and for it to have been written for adults, it shows it has been around for longer than what people think and remember. Much of the story had to be changed to make it a children's story rather than for young adults, and obviously it took some time for someone to get the idea to change it from an adult story to a children's story. Beauty and the Beast, in particular, is considered a literary fairy tale in which served as a way for aristocratic men to take other kinds of fairy tales and put their own ideas into it. Ideas of love and arranged marriages arouse from these literary fairy tales once they were rearranged to suit these kinds of ideas. In this article, it is said that De Beaumont intended for Beauty and the Beast to teach something different than what was previously stated. According to The Artifice, De Beaumont wanted to teach young adult girls ways in which they would be satisfied with themselves, for example self– sacrifice, modesty, and virtue. Over the past years, writers have forgotten these good intentions and instead focus mostly on the sensationalism of the romance. It's also important to explore these different approaches to interpret the Revelation. The first kind of view which I hold is called the Preterist view. And the other view which considers Revelation to be fulfilled in past history is called the Historicist view. Historicists would "see Revelation as predicting the major movements of Christian history, most of them have been fulfilled up to the time of the commentator." According to this description, the historicist interpreters regard the purpose of the Book of Revelation as predicting a part of the future (which in this case means after the1st century). Different commentators in different time interpreted the Book of Revelation in different ways, but all of them only considered the history before the time when they studied it. "We don't like what we don't understand, in fact it scares us," is a disturbing, yet unfortunately (occasionally) true line from "The Mob Song" in Disney's Beauty and the Beast. While it is sung by a group of fearful townspeople, this has been known to ring true in everyday life. Thankfully, the people behind Disney's classic, Beauty and the Beast, tried to teach a generation this lesson through the protagonist, Belle. Through her caring nature, Belle drives the movie's theme of not judging a book by its cover. In Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Belle is misunderstood, kind, and perceptive. Belle is shown to be misunderstood when she is walking through the streets, reading her book. The other townspeople remark, "that girl is strange, no question" (Beauty and the Beast). With the simple act of reading a book, the townspeople are quick to cast her out. At no point do any of the townspeople learn more about her to fully understand her. • 30. Beast In Lord Of The Flies The concept of the beast within The Lord of the Flies is one which can be interpreted in countless ways. The children picture it as a snake or a sea creature, while Ralph and Jack tend to picture it as an ape or other wild animal. Although the beast is pictured as all these various animals, one thing remains constant: there really is no beast. That is, not a tangible one at least. The boys on the island try their hardest to personify the beast as something, when in reality it isn't something which can be given form. The beast is a fear which resides deep down in the core of every human being. It isn't something that can be seen, it isn't something that can be hunted, and it isn't something that can be defeated. Throughout the novel, the boys give clues as to the true nature of the beast. Piggy says that there is nothing to be afraid of, unless that fear is of other people. The beast starts off as a series of nightmares and stories amongst the littluns, or the smaller boys. However, this rumored beast turns out to be existent, and as some of the boys begin to embrace darkness, the identity of the beast becomes clear. The beast represents a primitive nature that all of the boys have within themselves. Fear causes their society to fall apart, and it encourages primitive behavior. When fear is introduced into the boys' society, their civilization quickly falls apart and fails because of it. Although he may not realize it, Jack is afraid of his inner darkness; he's afraid that his obsession with hunting will turn him savage. Even so, as he continues to pursue his mania, he causes conflict amongst their society. The majority of the boys side with him over Ralph in their battle for power, showing that in times of fear, people will behave irrationally because they have lost clarity and go to desperate and violent measures to cope with their fears. As the hunters, Ralph, and Simon search the island for the beast, Simon envisions the beast as "the picture of a human at once heroic and sick" (103). Simon is the least beast–like out of all the boys, yet he is the only one to completely understand the mysterious beast. The fact that the boys know that they could kill a monster, if needed, comforts them because they're making the beast into something they want it to be. The boys don't want to accept that the beast is something within them because they don't know how to deal with it. An inevitable, nefarious nature is much harder to avoid or defeat than a palpable monster. If a society is frightened of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Differences In Belle And The Beast In Beauty and the Beast, the storytellers use the small town and the evil figure with a good heart to show that we as humans tend to be judgmental and push away the people who are different from us without really knowing both sides to the story because we often jump to conclusions and assume that we're right. In the movie, Belle and the Beast fall in love even though they are very different from each other. They looked passed their differences and what people would think of them. In the beginning of the movie, there was a prince who was being selfish, so a witch put a spell on him and his castle. The prince turned into a beast and his castle turned into a gothic mansion. The castle archetype shows that there are two sides to a castle, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was a good person, but he was angry with the world because of what happened to him. I think the beast would be an example of an evil figure with a good heart. He wouldn't hurt anybody, no matter how mad he got at times. When Belle went back to the castle, the spell was broken because both Belle and the beast fell in love. The castle returned to the bright, happy, full of life self it was before. The sculptures that were meant to scare people away, turned into angels protecting the castle. The dark colors making up the castle turned bright, and the thorns turned into flowers. The beast, Mrs. Potts, Cogsworth, Lumiere, and all the other workers turned human again. The whole castle was happy again. I believe that the only reason why people were mean to the beast, was because they were afraid. The beast was different, and the people of the village think everybody should act the same. Since the beast looked and acted different, they judged him without getting to know him. I bet that now that the castle is back to how it was many years ago, and the beast turned into the prince he was before, that people will treat him with respect. The beast was mean because of the spell that was put on him. Nobody wanted to go into the castle because it was terrifying. The beast was lonely, and nobody wanted to be around him. People judged him and assumed that he was just a mean person, without understanding what really happened to him. He was a good person trapped in a beast's body, which made him an evil figure with a good heart. If more people would have taken the time to understand the beast's situation, I think they would have enjoyed the beast's company. He was only cruel because people treated him like a ... The air was crisp and the figure could see his breath as he ran through the shrouded forest. His heart was racing, for he feared for his own life as he pursued this large beast. As he ran, the man noticed something, it was an animal that had been slaughtered by the beast. He examined the corpse closely, the stench of decay was very prominent as he got closer. He determined that the monster was close by, so he continued to follow the tracks, this time even more cautiously and considerably slower than before. He came to a clearing where a river was surging forth. This river was very wide and the pace it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Everything seemed to slow down as the man became focused on the approaching threat. He had noticed a break in the beast'В’s armor. Just below the stomach lay a deformity, the Achilles heel of the monster. It would be difficult to hit but he knew that it must be done to be able to bring the monster down. He began to run towards the beast now, his senses heightened and he felt as if he was watching himself from above. The beast was now 100 yards away and it traveled at the same pace as it did before. Just before they connected, the man slid below the beast. Time was moving at snail's pace in the manВ’s eyes and he was just below the deformity. He thrust his sword up into the beast and the sword cut through like slicing butter. The man made it to the other side of the beast. The monster was motionless, then after a good minute had passed the nightmare had toppled over in a heap of flesh. The sword no longer glowed as he returned it to it'В’s scabbard. • 34. Analysis Of Beauty And The Beast Last Saturday, September 30th, I had the opportunity to see ACT's production of Beauty and the Beast at Richland High School. Beauty and the Beast was originally produced by Disney Theatrical Productions with music by Alan Menken, words by Howard Ashman & Tim Rice, and book by Linda Woolverton. The story is about a young prince who is put under a spell for disrespecting an old enchantress. He is turned into a hideous, fearsome beast while his servants are turned into enchanted objects. the spell can only be broken if he learns to love and his love is returned. 10 years later, Belle is a young French girl, a pariah in her community for wanting more than her simple, boring life in the village. She gets her wish when her father is trapped in the Beast's castle and she trades her freedom for his. After a rather rocky start, Belle learns to love the ma inside the monster and the spell is broken. It was rather interesting to see the vastly different ways these characters interact. Gaston (Chase Peterson), the main antagonist of the show, commands the stage in a way very few people are able to. He stomps around the stade in a very confident manner, often ignore those around him and being fully absorbed in himself and his goals. He believes that he deserves anything he wants and that is made obvious in the way he walks and in the way he holds himself, flexing his biceps every other line. The Beast (Jonathan Edwards) is another character that commands the stage, but not for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Comparing Beaumont's Beauty And The Beast Many people know the classic Disney tale Beauty and the Beast, but not many know where the story originated from. The Disney film is one of many adaptations of a French fairy tale, La Belle et le BГЄte, originally written by Gabrielle–Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve in the seventeen hundreds. While there are many different versions of the tale, the most popular of them all is Jeanne–Marie Leprince de Beaumont's version. It is the tale of how a beautiful girl falls in love with a hideous beast, only to find out that the beast is actually a prince. Both Beaumont and Disney stay true to the moral of the story, that inner beauty shines brighter than what is on the outside. The Disney version starts off with a tale of a selfish prince. One night an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Disney's Belle is treated like a prisoner when she arrives. She is only allowed to eat when the beast does, and she is only allowed in certain parts of the castle because of the beast's horrible selfishness and temper. The original Belle however is treated like a guest of honor. Belle is allowed to do whatever she pleases in the castle. The beast treats her with respect and is very kind to her. Every night the beast asks Belle to sleep in the same bed as her and every night she declines (Okapina). In both tales their relationship grows. In Disney's version the beast gets attacked by wolves and Belle helps tend to his wounds, and their relationship sparks from there. The beast begins to control his temper and act a little less selfish towards Belle. Eventually Belle admits she missis her father and wants to see him. The beast gives her a magic mirror that shows her father sick and dying. The beast lets Belle go check on her father never expecting her to ever return. In Villeneuve's story Belle starts to have feelings for beast because he is always so kind to her and treats her like a queen. Belle begins to miss her family and wants to see them. One of the 1991 Disney animated classics that older generations thoroughly enjoyed was The Beauty and the Beast as viewers were enthralled by a fantastical romance between a horrific beast and the charming bibliophile, Belle. The film begins with Beast as a spoiled prince who was cursed, by an enchantress, to be a hideous creature forever unless he learned to truly love and be loved by someone in return by the time the last magical rose petal falls. The castle's inhabitants were also cursed to be inanimate objects forever if Beast fails to find love. The fantasy live action adaptation from the animated film garnered a lot of ... The high quality use of advanced technology highlighted the peaceful mood of the ballroom dance as well as the lighthearted interactions between Belle and the castle's inhabitants were appealing to people, who looked forward in watching the live action in the theaters. • 39. Beauty And The Beast Analysis Beauty and the Beast Lately the company Disney has been remaking their popular animated films into live action ones. Beauty and the Beast was originally released in 1991, but in March 2017 the live action version of the film, directed by Bill Condon, was released. The film may have been a huge hit in 1991, but the remake got enthusiastic acclaim and success. Despite many groups promising to boycott the film, people still flocked to the theater, causing some theaters to sell out of tickets. Although some people consider Disney films to be childish, Bill Condon's filmBeauty and the Beast expresses the powerful life lesson that love comes in many forms, which is best displayed in the ending scene of the film, thus requiring maturity. The live action Beauty and the Beast focuses more on the love between characters, than the animated one that was made in 1991. Among many other changes, the 2017 film has new characters. Some of these new characters includes: Mr. Potts, Maestro Cadenza, and Clothilde. These new characters are in relationships with the original characters, thus increasing the different forms of love.
