What makes a game fun?
게임 디자인 분야에 가장 대표되는 전문가 Raph Koster는 “Fun is the act of mastering a problem mentally.”이라고 하였고, jesse Schell는 “A game is a problem-solving activity, approached with a playful attitude.”
본문 중 “There is learning in FarmVille, if just a little bit. And Foursquare, well, I suppose you learn where you have a chance at maintaining mayor status and where you don't...”
또 다른 expert, Marc LeBlanc(게임 디자이너이지만 그의 일에 있어서는 academic한 접근을 더 많이 한 사람입니다.) Sensation, Fellowship, Fantasy, Narrative, Challenge, Discovery, Expression, Submission.
다음으로 academic분야에 Nicole Lazzaro는 Emotion의 관점에서 보았습니다. why do people watch scary movies, flirt with their own spouses, play practical jokes on each other, or play Crocodile Dentist? They find surges of emotion like fear, arousal, humor, suspense and surprise to be fun.
2. Academics and Games Designers
have defined it
as many factors
* Learning
* Competition
* Chance
* Role Playing
* Altered Perception
* And so on …
3. On Games Design side,
the games represent learning.
The most prominent expert in Games Design,
Raph Koster, Jesse Schell Says,
Fun is the act of mastering a problem mentally.
A game is a problem-solving activity,
approached with a playful attitude.
5. In Academics,
the sociologist Roger Caillois
posits the others .
• Competition seems obvious
• Role Playing also seems obvious
• Altered Perception is an deniable
•Chance is a very important mechanic for
game balancing and building suspense,
but not inherently fun, or a reason,
per se, to play a game
6. Other specialist , Marc LeBlanc
(Games Designer, but More Academics),
Nicole Lazzaro, Mihaly Csikszentmihaly (Academics)
• Sensation, Fellowship, Fantasy, Narrative,
Challenge, Discovery, Expression, Submission
• Emotion
• Flow
-They find surges of Emotion
like fear, arousal, humor, suspense and surprise to be fun.
Conclusion
If we take the word "game" to be defined as:
an activity engaged in for the pursuit of fun.
I think we're ready to move on with our analysis of
gamification with our list.
