1. 0297180005943600254000 Design proposal<br />My magazine will be specifically designed for the student body that will be interested in what’s going on around school/college and for those who care for the school/college well being.It will featured a variety of subject, key ones being school/college sports team results, exam results, school/college ranking, achievements (college as a whole and those of remarkable students), what is new around college (lessons, leisure, equipment and facilities) and general college news stories, it will also include information about the local area that concerns college. I feel by having this large list of subjects it will attract a larger and more varied audience to my magazine. In terms of cover lines I think that a good sports result from one of the school/college teams or news one how A level pass rates are increasing as time goes on would be appropriate for the starting issue to lighten up the news for the start of the magazine and the start of the academic year. Looking at college magazines I have found that the majority of them feature titles that are either literal or shortened names of the school/college or a formal word/phrase related to the college. The font for the masthead I believe should be reasonably simple yet bold and easy to read. I reviewed a few possibilities for the font of the masthead:SouthdownsSouthdownsSouthdownsSouthdownsSouthdownsI chose the third font down as was not only very easy to read and was bold but it matched the font features on the logo of Southdowns College.When looking at tag lines from various magazines (not just school/college magazines) I decided that I would feature one on my cover that was some how related to the college its self however I couldn’t produce one to the standard I would’ve liked, so I have decided to place the college website URL in smaller font.<br />I would publish my magazine at the very start of a new college year so that there would be a large amount of interest from the new students that perhaps do not know a lot about the college place and believe that there may be information of interest to them inside.For my cover shot I will have a fairly plain and formal shot that will convey no negativity. It will be taken around college premises to promote college as a great place to learn etc. I will take my photo in one of the memorable points around college such as the entrance, library, reception or café. I will send out the magazine once a month not including half term breaks, this gives the magazine time to accumulate stories/articles for each issue. My magazine will be A4, this is the common magazine size for most monthly issues. I thought that if I stick to usual conventions I will scare away few potential readers. My contents page will feature a full-page photo that would’ve been taken round college site, the photo will be less formal than the front.
