Let The Right One In!!

 1. 1. Let the right one in!! By Gabrielle, Eleni, Layla and john
 2. 2. Institutional context

The only piece of written text that is used with in the sequence is the logo ‘Momentum pictures’.

It also uses credits to show the actors and actresses playing the roles and who helped to create the film.

The text is white and is put on a black background which connotes the horror genre and the same effect is used on the images.

The film company is ‘EFN’

 3. 3. Identifying genre

The genre is horror.

It is a sub genre because it is just one genre in a film.

Mise-en-scene:

Setting- in neighbourhood at night, it is snowing and is set in Sweden.

Costumes- a young boy in white pants at a window.

Props- Knife, Bed in a room, Car.

Camera work- Over the shoulder shot when the man is in the car, reflection shot when the boy is looking out the window, high angle shot/point of view shot when the boy is looking out the window down at the men in the car, close up when the boy is standing out the window.

Sound- non diegetic because there is music playing over the talking.

Lighting- Low key , ambient lighting.

Editing- cuts,

 4. 4. Character and narrative

The main theme of the film is horror this is shown by the lighting, music, mise-en-scene and since there is a lack of dialogue, which makes the film mysterious.

The characters are presented to be isolated and allow the reader to think of enigmas related to them.

 5. 5. Analysing Continuity Technique

Match on Action; when the boy is placing the knife away.

 6. 6. Representation

A young boy aged around 12-13.

An old man, but not the stereotypes that you would get of a man , because he is murdering people.

The boy gets bullied at school, we can see this is a stereotype because the boy looks weak and feeble!!!

 7. 7. Analysing Audience

The target audience for this film is 15 and over, because it contains bloody scenes.

The producer have targeted this audience by using a range of different aged characters.
