Written Law On The Magna Carta
Rules, young or old we all follow them and most people choose to see them as necessary evils in the
world. For the simple reasoning that even though they can frustrate us, they have a clear purpose.
The purpose of school rules being, to create guidelines for the younger generation, to shape a better
present, and to in turn create a better future. Some however are yet to see the immense importance
that rules have in all aspects of society. Like us humans, rules have come a long way, seeing some of
the earliest signs in the form of written law on the Magna Carta. Which the U.S. history organization
names "one of the earliest ancestors of the United States Constitution" ("Magna Carta."). When it
comes to pinpointing precisely when the

The Controversy Over The Use Of Cell Phones In Schools
Allowing cellphones in school classrooms across America is a widely debated topic in most school
systems today. With cellphone use amongst teenagers so much more widespread today than it has
been in the past decade, teenagers seem to always have their cellphone with them, especially in
school. During school hours, having a cellphone can be a beneficial asset in emergency situations,
but it can also carry negative aspects along with it. As many people have pointed out, having a cell
phone in the classroom can be a temptation to cheat on tests and other assignments. Also, some
argue the fact that cellphones can become a distraction in class when students are simply bored, do
not want to listen, or take notes. Personally, I believe that cellphones ... Show more content on

Some of these rules are as follows: 1) You may only use phones during lunch periods, during the
transition period between classes, and after the last bell of the day. 2) If you have an emergency or
need to make a phone call during class, simply raise your hand and ask the teacher to be excused
from the room. 3) If your cellphone or any other internet–accessing device is seen during any of the
forbidden times to use phones, then it will be taken and will have to be picked up by a parent at the
first convenient time for the parent. 4) If your cellphone is taken, then you will lose the privilege to
use it during the specified times of the school day listen above. 5) Multiple warnings or cellphone
violations will result in further disciplinary action such as detention or suspension. 6) Cellphones
may be used during class times as long as the teacher has stated they may be, and are being used for
a learning exercise. These are examples of clear guidelines for phone usage during school hours, and
is a helpful format I believe schools should

Catcher In The Rye Should Not Be Banned Essay
The Catcher in The Rye is one of the most banned books in America across schools, libraries, and
book stores, but it should not be as looked down upon as it is. It is banned because partly because of
all of the violence and the bad language it uses. Many parents or teachers do not want children to be
exposed to those kinds of things so they try to shield them from books such as The Catcher in the
Rye. Also, some schools do not want kids having the book because Holden is seen as a rebel
because he is constantly getting kicked out of schools because he does not put forth the effort.
Parents and schools do not want their children to get the idea that it is ok or even normal for kids to
approach school the way Holden does. But, The Catcher in The Rye should not be banned from
libraries, schools, or book stores because it shows teenagers how not to act, the importance of
friends and family, and that children should not be in a rush to grow up. Holden is constantly
breaking rules and getting himself into trouble. Whether it is picking a fight with his roommate, "I

Positive Behavior Analysis
Positive behavioral interventions and supports, also known as PBIS, has gone through several
developments over the years. According to Sugai and Simonsen (2012), in the 1980's it was decided
that there was a need for a system that would better implement and document behavioral
interventions for students who have a variety of behavioral disorders (BD). In the 1990's it was
added to the reauthorized Individuals with Disabilities Act. Over time it was decided that this system
could also be beneficial for a school wide plan, instead of just students with behavioral disorders.
The thought is that by taking specific steps to try and avoid certain behavioral issues, students will

For younger students, making a classroom visual may be helpful. Second, you want to teach the
students the classroom procedures and cues to eliminate issues during any kind of transition.
Thinking about the placement of furniture will be helpful too. You want to be sure that there are not
areas that will get to congested. Third is to implement positive praise and reinforcement. It is
important to be specific with praise, so that the student will know what they are doing well. Adding
in a reward system can also be very motivating. The fourth practice is about the teacher. Active
supervision is important. Moving around the room will give you different views of the room and let
all of the students know that you are paying attention. This may also make it easier for students to
ask questions. They will feel that it is easier to gain your attention if your floating around the room,
rather then standing in the same spot the whole time. The fifth practice talks about the importance of
consistent and fair consequences. Teachers need to first know when to react. Ignoring minor
behaviors that are attention seeking is important. Also, make sure that you are using constructive
redirection, so the student will know where they went wrong. The final practice is to keep the
student engaged. Give them opportunities to respond and be a part of the lessons

Compare And Contrast Lee Canter's Model To Support...
Children and young people at school:
Ginotts model is good for a school environment as the model will look to support children as part of
a large group. Using Ginott's model will create a calm and effective learning environment this is for
children to feel valued and therefore they may not want to behave inappropriately. Ginott's and Lee
Canter's model both place a high emphasis upon the adult's role and the importance of adults and
children being aware of their own actions. If the practitioner does a smooth and well–paced lesson
this will not give the child a chance to miss–behave as they are busy and engaged throughout.
Rudolf Dreikurs does link into school setting but it is hard to put all three consequences into a
school setting. The natural consequences links into a school certain as children can manage their

Ginott's model believed that the adult may fail if the child or young person are not involved in
making the rules. Doing this is unrealistic as some rules children must follow. Lee Canter's
discipline model will maintain that children need to be told how to behave properly and having a
clear discipline plan should be put in place. In my setting, we used Lee Canter's model as we have a
traffic light system. This is where the child will start on green and if they miss–behave they would
go on orange and if they continue the behaviour they go on red. If the child is on red then the child
will have a consequence such as missing sometime of their break. There are some benefits of using
Ginott's model is that the adult or the teacher will treat children fairly and respectfully. Also,
children are empowered to make their own decisions and adults and teachers will help children to
deal with the problem themselves. Some benefits of using the assertive discipline model is that
children will know what is accepted of them and adults should be consistent in

Mr Keating Conformity
1. Define and explain conformity as you see it play out in the film. Give a few examples.
Conformity was present multiple times throughout the film. Not only did I observe it, but it was also
defined by Mr. Keating during class time. Conformity is when one or a few people are influenced by
a majority of other individuals to follow suit, hence not being themselves or expressing any
creativity. Conformity is negative because it causing an individual to not express their
opinions/beliefs and it is a non–individualized way of living. The obvious example from the film
was when Mr. Keating explained conformity and how all the boys were walking at different paces
and then it eventually became synchronized. Also, some of the boys began clapping along which
then in turn resulted in all of the other boys clapping too. Another example is at the end ... Show

Mr. Keating stresses the importance of carpe diem within the very first class. He has a unique way
of addressing this topic through showing them the pictures of the older individuals in the showcases
in the hallway and how they once were in the same position of feeling invincible. The importance of
this saying is that it is a constant reminder to make the most of our lifetime because someday we are
all going to die. We cannot keep waiting to do great things in the future, but instead we need to be
determined and take advantage of the now instead of the future. As Mr. Keating said, we need to
make our lives extraordinary. This cannot happen if we do not live each day to it's fullest. Carpe
diem made an impact on all of the boys which was noticeable throughout the movie. Two examples
are, Neil trying out for the play and Knox calling the girl he likes. Whenever the boys needed
motivation or wanted to do something scary, they shouted "carpe diem" which truly helped them

Examples Of Code Of Ethics In Education
/The Code of Ethics in Education In a professional field of education there are requirements and
commitments, which educators should oblige. Therefore this is where the code of ethics in education
comes into place. The Code of Ethics in Education is a guideline set for educators to follow as part
of their professional development. All educators should enforce the Code of Ethics in Education.
What do you believe to be characteristics of a profession? The characteristics of a profession should
be kept professional, have integrity, and virtue. In the work place being professional is important
because we as teachers fraternize ourselves with others. We should be able to draw a boundary

They do not take the code of ethics in to account. For example, In American Samoa some
administers in the educational profession have been known to portray favoritism, unprofessionalism

practice what they preach? There are also majorities of teachers, which are no better, then the
administrators, they practice Corporal punishment, and Attendance is a joke to others not knowing
the negative consequences of how it affects their students. Some are still floating in the survival
stages of their professional career because they just consider the teaching profession as a easy way
to make a quick buck but their is no desire, passion, interest or love for the student to push them to
learn effectively in the classroom. The Ministry of Education, Guyana (n.d) states" A professional
code of ethics outlines teachers' main responsibilities to their students and defines their role in
students' lives". We as educators to look at the teaching profession as a calling and do the best we

Literature Review On The Literature Of Classroom Management
Literature Review
Classroom management often called classroom discipline has been a priority for teachers. According
to Evertson and Weinstein (2006), "classroom management has two purposes: It not only seeks to
establish and sustain an orderly environment so students can engage in meaningful academic
learning; it also aims to enhance student social and moral growth" (p 4). A study conducted by
Weiner (2003) to understand why classroom management is such a problem in the urban schools,
revealed that "so much in the school environment undercuts the social norm required for high
academics functioning in urban classrooms, successful urban teachers must deeply embed classroom
management in every aspect of classroom life, making the teaching of social skills a reflexive part
of instruction" (p. 309). Arranging the physical environment of the classroom is one way to improve
the learning environment and to prevent problem behaviours before they occur. Research on the
classroom environment has shown that the physical arrangement can affect the behaviour of both
students and teachers and that a well–structured classroom tends to improve student academic and
behavioural outcomes (Walker, Colvin, & Ramsey, 1995; Savage, 1999).
In addition, the classroom environment acts as a symbol to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It is more of a democratic process. This goes against what Canter and Hunter (2001) and Wong and
Wong (2005) suggest. Other theorists recognize the importance of discussion in the importance of
rules; however, classroom teachers are in charge and create the rules. "Gradually students come to
feel no moral discredit in rule violation and grow unresponsive to discipline" (Goodman, 2007, p.4).
Although teachers enforce classroom rules and other disciplinary approaches, "explicit rules, clear
authority, proportionate sanctions, administered equitably and group participation are important but
insufficient" (Goodman, 2007,

Gym Classes Should Be Mandatory For All Public Schools
Physical Education in Schools
May gym classes help students make better in all of their classes? Nowadays there is a problem with
childhood obesity in USA schools. According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention.
This may happen because young people are spending too many hours in front of computers and
televisions, and they spend less time exercising in schools or outside of schools. Therefore, physical
activities should be offer to students in schools. Physical activities such as, jogging, yoga, jump
rope, aerobics, dance, etc. The practicing of this activities could impact in students' performance
academic and health, but some parents and teachers might think that students should focus in other
subjects like math, reading, writing, science instead of gym classes. Physical Education programs in
schools should not be an option. Gym classes should be mandatory for all public schools in all
grades in USA.
First, physical activity in school would help students to improve their rate of academic learning.
Children who are physically active would perform, retain, absorb and pay attention better at school
and home, than students who are out of shape. 'A study, conducted by Bryan Mc Cullick, a
kinesiology professor at the University of Georgia, examined all 50 of the United States and found
six states where elementary schools followed recommended physical education at the middle school
level, and no states had strong enough regulations at the high school level." This

Sociological Theory Of Deviant Behavior
In sociology, term deviant behavior is any behavior that violates social norms. Relations impart
norms that are manners, expectation, and rules. However, studies show these norms are created and
alter over time may change. Deviant acts are counteracted in to two groups: formal and informal.
Formal deviance could be a criminal act by the law (such as: rape, murder or burning down a
house), whereas social norms are informal deviance such as (traffic violation or dressing in gothic.)
To understand deviant behavior, start by studying cultural and social norms. Norms differ across
cultures, and in some cases behavior which is well–mannered or expected in one culture may be
considered rude or inappropriate in another. Every society has their own laws, rules and informal
social norms that aim to prevent people from committing deviant acts. Centuries ago, some behavior
was considered deviant but, today is considered normal. For example, women were usually not
expected or even allowed to work full time if they had babies. Another example can be most people
would not have set up house together and started a family before marriage. These acts were
considered deviant a generation or two ago, but, is not considered deviant at all today. With feminist
theory it was the most important sociological theories which explains the rank of women and men.

Treviño and Nelson (2007), define ethics as "the principles, norms, and standards of conduct
governing an individual or organization." I was influenced the way I determine different actions or
behavior in a particular situation since I was a child. Growing up with a single Catholic mother
made me value different things and behave in a particular way. In addition, this made me a have a
particular ethical system that influences the way I work and act as an individual. At the corporation

Based on the nature of the work, my ethical system at the workplace tends to be a combination of
duty–based and goal–based. Duty–based is an "a moral obligation or commitment to act in a certain
manner." For example, I work for the United States Postal Service and I am commitment to my
work, which includes several tasks determined by the Postal Service rules and regulations. If I fail
with one of this laws or rules I could be on probation or lose my job. Therefore, it is important that I
obey those rules. In addition, all this tends to be influenced by the actual goal of the company and
my personal goal. The company goal is to complete my assigned tasks in a timely manner, which is
to deliver the mail. My personal goal is to produce money to sustain my family and pay my
expenses. This personal goal drives me to be ethical and the do the right thing at my workplace
because I do not want to put in jeopardy my job. This puts into play my personal family values.
Therefore, my ethical system could be considered individualistic and very very competitive, which
could impact my workplace in a negative way. On the other hand, this could turn out to be very
positive because I am very reliable and undependable at work. Business ethics (2009) is defined as
"moral principles defining how businesses and business professionals should act towards each other,
employees, and the public." In other words, ethics are needed in an organization because they

No Pass No Play Essay
Imagine working hard to be a professional athlete all through high school and applying for your
dream college. Suddenly, they turn you down because you have failing grades. You realize you
should have worked harder in school and focused in your classes more. In 1984, Texas passes the
''No Pass, No Play'' act in hopes of raising grades and increasing the importance of education by
having a rule that students would have to have a 70% grade or above, which is a C, to be able to
participate in extracurricular classes. This rule is smart, effective and helps students in more ways
than one.
First, it motivates students to learn and teaches responsibility. If a student gets a bad grade that
means they won't be able to participate in their extra school activity for a period of time. This
motivated students to get good grades and work harder in school. As my coaches say to me, student
comes before athlete. The rule of getting bad grades means that you can't participate or the "No
Pass, No play" rule, builds responsibility, your responsible for your future and what you want to do
with it. You're responsible to get good grades and your reward is your extracurricular classes. It's

Classroom Management Philosophy Essay
My classroom management philosophy has developed through many years of teaching experience,
but through it all I believe all students can learn and grow, even students with special needs. I teach
in a classroom designated for slow learners, many of which have cognitive impairments. My
students may not learn in the same way as others or as much as other students, but they can learn
and should be given that opportunity. I believe in focusing on my students' gifts and talents, not their
disabilities and what they cannot do.
As a self–contained special education teacher, I work with smaller groups of students than general
education teachers. I also get to teach my students for multiple years. This allows me to do what I
love– build relationships with students based on respect and a want to succeed. I believe it is critical
to start building relationships from the first day of school and throughout the entire school year.

Teaching with Love and Logic is based on three rules: 1) use enforceable limits, 2) provide choices
with limits, and 3) apply consequences with empathy (Fay & Funk, 1995). I have high expectations
for my students academically and behaviorally. I set limits and provide choices for students within
those limits, and when students make poor choices and need consequences, I administer those
consequences with understanding and empathy, instead of in anger or frustration. The second
strategy that is the basis for my classroom management is Capturing Kids' Hearts. It involves
"building meaningful, productive relationships with every student; creating a safe, effective
environment for learning; developing self–managing, high–performing classrooms using team–
building skills and a social contract; and using high payoff techniques for dealing with conflict,
negative behavior, and disrespect issues" (Capturing Kids' Hearts, 2017, para.

Understanding the stringent rules employed by the N.C.A.A., the administrators of the university
saw it fit to develop fake classes that student–athletes would attend and receive A 's and B 's. No one
should fault the school alone because the pressure that some of these student–athletes undergo is
enormous, and they find it hard to keep up with schoolwork. All universities have minimum
academic requirements that they should adhere to when selecting freshmen students. Gurney posits
the N.C.A.A. has specified the minimum academic requirements for universities selecting first–year

Eligibility of student–athletes to participate in sporting activities is dependent on their academic

Effective Classroom Management Essay
Classroom management is a key element to establish a successful learning environment in any
classroom. An effective classroom management plan creates a positive learning environment.
Classroom management is affected by the characteristics of the students and their behavior.
Students' behavior is influenced by their age, academic abilities, goals, interests, and home
backgrounds (Evertson, Emmer, and Worsham, 2006). Teachers need a diverse array of classroom
management skills to facilitate learning. A classroom with a proper management plan will spend less

Frequent communication with families which includes positive information makes school wide
discipline effective (T.L.Musy, Personal communication, October 3rd, 2006). Consistency is an
important element in school wide discipline. Rules applied consistently through out the school are
easy for students to learn. An effective teacher learns school rules and procedures before the year
begins. This would be helpful for the teacher to set up her/his own classroom discipline plan
(Evertson, Emmer, and Worsham, 2006).
Teachers should have a discipline plan before the school year begins. Effective discipline plan
includes various techniques to avoid, support, and correct inappropriate behavior in the classroom.
Preventive discipline
Preventing misbehavior is widely preferable rather than dealing with it after it has occurred. A
Preventive discipline plan involves steps taken in a classroom to avoid disciplinary problems.
Potentially this discipline deals with the distractions in the classroom and how a classroom
environment can be modified so it is more compatible with the learning needs of its children
(Edwards, 2004). Preventive discipline plan refers to the strategies that can be implemented to

Dress Code Rules Research Paper
"The first principle of value that we need to rediscover is this: that all reality hinges on moral
foundations. In other words, that this is a moral universe, and that there are moral laws of the
universe just as abiding as the physical laws." ― Martin Luther King Jr. Rules are the foundations
of society. To manage society, you need rules and it also applies for schools to be managed. Rules
are applied everywhere, even in schools. Without rules in schools, some students would wear more
clothes slutty. The guys would have saggy pants and the girls would wear revealing clothes which is
inappropriate. It is bad for kids to wear clothes to mature for their age because the kids that are yet
to be exposed to the mature stuff will be exposed to the bad things. Their poor, pure minds would
turn hectic and turn into those inappropriate minded kids faster than not being exposed to the
inappropriate clothings. Also, the kids can bring inappropriate contents to school and still don't get
in trouble, which is also a bad influence on the kids around them. And this is why dress code rules
are important. The kids would also learn nothing in school if their are no rules, which is why it will
be useless to even come to school because the other kids would disrupt the class while the teacher is
speaking. And ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As they put the rules in the school, their are less casualties than without the rules in place. There
would be less large wounds when the kids fight also, there would be less mentally retarded people
on school because they are not abusing drugs or alcohol. And if the rules are there, there is a more
higher chance of people not doing drugs because drugs are forbidden in school but there are kids
who choose to do drugs. The rules to not bring drugs, alcohol, or weapons are important to keep
because without them the school will be full of

For example, In American Samoa some
administers in the educational profession have been known to portray favoritism, unprofessionalism
in the schools they over see. How can they expect teachers to honor the code of ethics if they do not
practice what they preach?

Code of Conduct is sent home at the beginning of the school year to inform parents of the school–

and the concepts found in the conduct book. On the very first day of the school year, my Clinical
Educator sits down with her class and creates a list of classroom rules. She tries to create a shared
classroom atmosphere where the kids feel a sense of importance and independence. My Clinical
Educator quotes "I want to feel that it is OUR classroom, not just my classroom". Within the

Continuing Academic Success is extremely important to those who plan to make advancements in
their chosen career fields. It provides the opportunity to keep current with ideas, techniques, and

setting achievable goals, the importance of learning styles in academic success and the validity of
ethics and academic integrity in helping to achieve continuing academic and professional success.

Importance of Ethics & Academic Integrity
Ethics–is the study of the basic values of a community; moral principles that govern a person's or
groups behavior. Through the study of ethics we learn to understand what is expected of us
behaviorally and why it is expected of us. We also learn rules of behavior based upon ideas about
what is morally good and bad.
Academic integrity means honesty and responsibility in scholarship. This includes values such as
avoidance of cheating or plagiarism; maintenance of academic standards; honesty and rigor in

Golden Rule Research Paper
Seventy percent of kids go through elementary school without ever hearing the golden rule. I think
if I were to give a lesson to a class of elementary school kids, I would teach them the golden rule.
The golden rule is to "treat others the way you want to be treated". It is a important virtue to learn
because it teaches selflessness. My goal is to help the kids develop a sense of empathy and
compassion for others while developing authentic kindness. If everyone followed it the world would
be a better place. The golden rule is an important lesson to learn because it teaches you to Respect
your peers. Forgiveness is a very trait to have and that is apparent in this rule. If kids are more
compassionate it will keep the school a better place, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are all kinds of behaviors that you may be willing to dish out to others but not take, if I taught
kids this then they would probably be less likely to be hurtful to each other. If introduced to this
concept early, the next generation of kids could be a great one. In my lesson I would first ask them if
they knew the rule. Then afterwards I would explain the rule. I would teach them in a way that kept
them interested such as games, but at the same time I would stress the importance of the concept. I
would teach them how it applies in the modern day. In the end I would give them an assignment to
keep log of them demonstrating this rule. I would do this because hopefully help them understand
how good it feels. This would be a very important and effective lesson that could help them in the

The Importance Of Humanism During The Renaissance
During the fourteenth through the middle of the seventeenth century, the Renaissance in Europe
brought "a humanistic revival of classical influence expressed in the arts and literature and by the
beginning of modern science." (Merriam–Webster) The economy began to stabilize after the Middle
Ages causing industries such as textile mills, mining, and metallurgy to flourish resulting in the
circulation of currency, ideas, and goods. With the spread of ideas, new inventions were developed
such as Johannes Gutenberg's printing press which allowed information and literature to be spread
quickly and accurately and enabled a larger amount of the population to become literate and pursue
higher education. Humanism was a major theme during the Renaissance with its focus on a way of
life centered on human interests and values and the branches of learning such as philosophy, arts,
and language. During the Renaissance, there was a debate on the soundness of education and what it
could add to society. While some argued education in the liberal arts and classics would benefit
society, others believed the education system was corrupt and would distract students from their
responsibilities. Many aristocrats and scholars advocated the expansion of humanist education in
Europe because rulers could better rule their region, aristocrats could be actively engaged in court,
and citizens would be more apt to be upstanding and respectable citizens. Aeneas Sylvius
Piccolomini stressed

Secondary School Documentary
Reflective Essay
Introduction
The documentary, Secondary School, chronicles the daily lives of two prestigious secondary schools
in Hong Kong, including classes, teachers' meeting and parents' workshop. This reflective essay will
employ the perspectives of Weber and Marx respectively, exploring how they may consider current
secondary education in Hong Kong.
The documentary shows a strict hierarchy of teachers and students. The schools apply wide–ranging
regulations on students. Students have to attend school with the uniform. Students cannot enter
teachers' office and can only call teachers using the beeper at the entrance. Teachers teach them how
to behave in consonance with school regulations and common virtues. Misbehaviours can incur
punishment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Speech Regulations : The Importance Of Speech Rules In...
Speech regulations, particularly any speech that can harm someone is something that schools,
especially university campuses have tried to limit or regulate, to try and create a fun, peaceful
learning environment for all students of all race, religion, gender etc. having said all of this in this
paper I will present my speech code that will apply to the University of Arizona's dormitories,
libraries, and classrooms. After presenting my speech code I will give my strongest argument as why
I think this code works best, as well as present three objections that can be presented to the code as
well as responses to those objections. Finally I will say whether or not I think the University of
Arizona should go ahead and use the presented speech code based on what I wrote.
The speech code that I've come up for the University of Arizona goes as follows, every student
enrolled at the University must respect other students and whatever beliefs they might have, if the
student he or she does not agree with another students view on something they should just walk
away or say politely that they disagree. Students must respect others religious beliefs in dormitories
and libraries, but they may express how they feel about a certain religion inside a classroom as long
as it's in a respectful way that does not involve violence or the use of fighting words that being

Complete Lack Of Movement And Sound
Marksmanship in High School
How many sports require a complete lack of movement and sound? Very few sports challenge you
to use all of the time given instead of scoring as many points as possible early in the game. How
often does every muscle's tiny movement dictate the outcome? How many sports require no natural
talent? Marksmanship is a sport unlike any other. The difference between marksmanship and other,
more popular sports make it much more beneficial to the athlete. Not to mention, marksmanship is
one of the oldest and safest sports. Despite these credentials, marksmanship is not available to every
student in the United States. This sport should be more publicized and readily available to any
student that wishes to show his or her shooting ability. It would also allow a student to grow as a
person through the demonstration of safety with an air rifle and dedication bettering their
marksmanship skills.
Marksmanship should be made available in every school. It teaches discipline, the ability to control
your body and mind, as well as the importance of gun safety. Marksmanship programs in the
JROTC, Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, require students to pass a rifle safety test in order to
start shooting, but any marksmanship program through the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP)
will make shooters complete a similar test. This provides the student with necessary shooting
information, such as where to keep the muzzle pointed and how to make certain the air rifle will

prospectus. There is a Home/School agreement which is signed by pupils, parents and teachers. We
expect parents to read these and support them. If the school has to use reasonable consequences as
the result of unacceptable behaviour, parents should support the actions of the school. If parents
have any concern about the way that their child has been treated, they should initially contact the

The Code Of The Honor Code
Rules and regulations have always been necessities within the society, especially in the educational
system; however, similar to the way we enforce rules to improve the students' actions, we must
provide standards that ethically better the students. By forming our own perspective on the honor
code, acknowledging that the efficiency of the honor code relies on the student bodies' compliance
to the expectations, and relating the honor code to free will, we have come to the conclusion that the
present honor code in our school, Robert Vela High School, needs to be revised. The solution is
quite simple, separate the rules and create a new honor code that comprises of expectations
excluding severe repercussions. Humans possess a nature of ... Show more content on

It is true that many students may not do what is right in every situation, but everyone has a
conscience and will know that they failed someone in the process of their wrong doings. In the same
way that American citizens say the Pledge of Allegiance to honor the United States, schools should
too "...[pledge]...never to lie, cheat or steal" in order to allow the students to feel as if they are trying
to keep a promise rather than simply following a guideline (Source D). Overall, the honor code
should be seen as a moral expectation and not an ordinary combination of directives.
The most crucial part of establishing an effective honor code is to acknowledge that the students are
the ones who determine the level of its efficiency. Within the school system, there are always rules
that must be followed; however, a portion of the student population will not obey them. The honor
code needs to be separated from the rules in order to establish a set of standards that are a necessity
to build the "...type of environment [we] want to live in"(Source B). The culture of the students is
the enabler for the success of the honor code. Fundamentally, the honor code should be the
expectations that establish the setting of the school. Within schools today, there are many situations
in which a student is required to do an assignment in order to receive a passing grade. To many this
would urge them to complete the task, but to others

Attending college is beneficial for high school basketball players when it comes to entering the
workforce. However, with a goal of becoming a professional basketball player, attending college has
its pros and cons. There are pros and cons for a student going straight to the NBA after high school.
Some high school students want to skip college and go straight to playing basketball and just make
money by what they love doing. Students believe to college should be an option for them to choose
after high school and shouldn 't have to go college because it is mandatory to go to college and play
for one year before moving on. The point of college is to higher your education and to increase the
ability to get paid more money. Cons about going straight to NBA after high school is that you get
treated like a rookie. You can be sitting on the bench majority of the time until they feel like you
have improved during practices to put you in the game. Also, they would not realize the amount of
work that has to be put in and have to adjust to their surroundings. You could have been the best on
your high school team, but soon as you get into the NBA, you have not seen as the same person
anyone because someone has that spot.

universities. With such a role, the association is mandated to specify the minimum academic
requirements for a student to participate in any sporting activity. The association claims that it aims

No one should fault the school alone because the pressure that some of these student–athletes
undergo is enormous, and they find it hard to keep up with schoolwork. All universities have
minimum academic requirements that they should adhere to when selecting freshmen students.
Gurney (43) posits the N.C.A.A. has specified the minimum academic requirements for universities
selecting first–year student–athletes. Some of these requirements are followed, but since the high
school test scores are low, the students find it difficult to cope with college academics (Gurney 42).
Eligibility of student–athletes to participate in sporting activities is dependent on their academic
performance (LaForge and Hodge 223). The N.C.A.A. has stated severally that it is charged with
developing the rules and policies. The individual university and colleges are responsible for
enforcing the rules and policies. In the case of U.N.C., the people charged with running the athletic
program opted to ignore the policies and fake the student's class attendance. The article has only
pointed out that the students were faking African and Afro–American studies classes (Sarah Lyall 1),
but further investigation is required to establish if this was the only class faked. The curriculum

Multani Case
The safety of students in the school environment is one the most importants aspects of school's code
of conduct, especially since recently there has been a lot of public attention given to school shootng
and just school violence in general. It's plausible to understand that rules prohibit students from
bringing weapons to school, however do they rules have exceptions? Can the no weapons policy be
overtunrned in certain scenerios, for instance if there is a Charter violation? This is the question
asked in the case of Multani v. Commission scolaire Marguerite–Bourgeoys, involving an orthodox
Sikh student, Gurbaj Multani. In November 2001, Multani accidentally dropped his kirpan shich is
usually concealed under his clothing. From the very start this was a conterversial issue among
members of the school board and community. The school board saw the kirpan as a dangerous
weapon while Gubraj, his father, and other community members say the kirpan as a religious
symbol. If the kirpan is prohibited, this imposes a limitation on Gurbaj's freedom of religion as
stated in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The Kirpan can be compared to a cross that
is worn by Christians as a symbol of their faith, it's not meant for violent purposes. Studying this
case has the utmost importance as the questions and issues arising from this case are significant in
today's educational system.

Bell V. Itawamba County School Council Case Study
Perhaps the most unsettling thing about Bell v. Itawamba County School Board, regardless of the
final decision in favor of Bell, is the shockingly little attention the courts gave to the allegations
made in the song. However, it is fairly reasonable that the court did not address the misconduct, as it
was not the action in question. Perhaps a more unsettling aspect of this case is the lack of school
response to the allegations made about the coaches. Bell's reasons for writing the song, as expressed
in his testimony, were the complaints he had heard from female students at the school that they had
been sexually harassed by the two coaches. Bell claimed that the reason he wrote a song rather than

The court found that the explicit content of the song, which can arguably be considered part of rap
culture, was not a threat to the coaches, and ruled in favor of Bell after he appealed the district
court's decision. The principal had no grounds to reprimand Bell for "P.S. Koaches", as it was not
only created outside of the school's jurisdiction, but brought to light a glaring problem within the
school. If the circumstances were different, and Bell's lyrics were slanderous, the coaches could take
legal action towards him as individuals, however the school still could not take action. In the case
that Bell had created the song with school equipment and distributed it through school affiliated
channels, only then could he be punished. The best way to analyze the Bell decision, however, is to
use the balance referenced by Justice John Roberts in Morse v. Frederick, which employs that if the
importance of student speech is high, and the state interest in prohibiting it is low, then the court
should rule in favor of the students (Morse). However when the opposite is true, and the importance
of student speech is low, and the state interest in prohibiting it is high, then the court must rule in
favor of the school district (Morse). In the case Bell v. Itawamba County School Board, the state's
interest in prohibiting vulgar speech is far lesser than the importance of Bell's intent of

The Magna Carta's Influence on US Law

  • 1. Written Law On The Magna Carta Rules, young or old we all follow them and most people choose to see them as necessary evils in the world. For the simple reasoning that even though they can frustrate us, they have a clear purpose. The purpose of school rules being, to create guidelines for the younger generation, to shape a better present, and to in turn create a better future. Some however are yet to see the immense importance that rules have in all aspects of society. Like us humans, rules have come a long way, seeing some of the earliest signs in the form of written law on the Magna Carta. Which the U.S. history organization names "one of the earliest ancestors of the United States Constitution" ("Magna Carta."). When it comes to pinpointing precisely when the ... • 3. The Controversy Over The Use Of Cell Phones In Schools Allowing cellphones in school classrooms across America is a widely debated topic in most school systems today. With cellphone use amongst teenagers so much more widespread today than it has been in the past decade, teenagers seem to always have their cellphone with them, especially in school. During school hours, having a cellphone can be a beneficial asset in emergency situations, but it can also carry negative aspects along with it. As many people have pointed out, having a cell phone in the classroom can be a temptation to cheat on tests and other assignments. Also, some argue the fact that cellphones can become a distraction in class when students are simply bored, do not want to listen, or take notes. Personally, I believe that cellphones ... Some of these rules are as follows: 1) You may only use phones during lunch periods, during the transition period between classes, and after the last bell of the day. 2) If you have an emergency or need to make a phone call during class, simply raise your hand and ask the teacher to be excused from the room. 3) If your cellphone or any other internet–accessing device is seen during any of the forbidden times to use phones, then it will be taken and will have to be picked up by a parent at the first convenient time for the parent. 4) If your cellphone is taken, then you will lose the privilege to use it during the specified times of the school day listen above. 5) Multiple warnings or cellphone violations will result in further disciplinary action such as detention or suspension. 6) Cellphones may be used during class times as long as the teacher has stated they may be, and are being used for a learning exercise. These are examples of clear guidelines for phone usage during school hours, and is a helpful format I believe schools should ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Catcher In The Rye Should Not Be Banned Essay The Catcher in The Rye is one of the most banned books in America across schools, libraries, and book stores, but it should not be as looked down upon as it is. It is banned because partly because of all of the violence and the bad language it uses. Many parents or teachers do not want children to be exposed to those kinds of things so they try to shield them from books such as The Catcher in the Rye. Also, some schools do not want kids having the book because Holden is seen as a rebel because he is constantly getting kicked out of schools because he does not put forth the effort. Parents and schools do not want their children to get the idea that it is ok or even normal for kids to approach school the way Holden does. But, The Catcher in The Rye should not be banned from libraries, schools, or book stores because it shows teenagers how not to act, the importance of friends and family, and that children should not be in a rush to grow up. Holden is constantly breaking rules and getting himself into trouble. Whether it is picking a fight with his roommate, "I tried to sock him, with all of my might, right smack in the toothbrush, so it would split his goddam throat open." • 7. Positive Behavior Analysis Positive behavioral interventions and supports, also known as PBIS, has gone through several developments over the years. According to Sugai and Simonsen (2012), in the 1980's it was decided that there was a need for a system that would better implement and document behavioral interventions for students who have a variety of behavioral disorders (BD). In the 1990's it was added to the reauthorized Individuals with Disabilities Act. Over time it was decided that this system could also be beneficial for a school wide plan, instead of just students with behavioral disorders. The thought is that by taking specific steps to try and avoid certain behavioral issues, students will have more academic and social success through out their educational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For younger students, making a classroom visual may be helpful. Second, you want to teach the students the classroom procedures and cues to eliminate issues during any kind of transition. Thinking about the placement of furniture will be helpful too. You want to be sure that there are not areas that will get to congested. Third is to implement positive praise and reinforcement. It is important to be specific with praise, so that the student will know what they are doing well. Adding in a reward system can also be very motivating. The fourth practice is about the teacher. Active supervision is important. Moving around the room will give you different views of the room and let all of the students know that you are paying attention. This may also make it easier for students to ask questions. They will feel that it is easier to gain your attention if your floating around the room, rather then standing in the same spot the whole time. The fifth practice talks about the importance of consistent and fair consequences. Teachers need to first know when to react. Ignoring minor behaviors that are attention seeking is important. Also, make sure that you are using constructive redirection, so the student will know where they went wrong. The final practice is to keep the student engaged. • 9. Compare And Contrast Lee Canter's Model To Support... Children and young people at school: Ginotts model is good for a school environment as the model will look to support children as part of a large group. Using Ginott's model will create a calm and effective learning environment this is for children to feel valued and therefore they may not want to behave inappropriately. Ginott's and Lee Canter's model both place a high emphasis upon the adult's role and the importance of adults and children being aware of their own actions. If the practitioner does a smooth and well–paced lesson this will not give the child a chance to miss–behave as they are busy and engaged throughout. Rudolf Dreikurs does link into school setting but it is hard to put all three consequences into a school setting. The natural consequences links into a school certain as children can manage their own risks and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ginott's model believed that the adult may fail if the child or young person are not involved in making the rules. Doing this is unrealistic as some rules children must follow. Lee Canter's discipline model will maintain that children need to be told how to behave properly and having a clear discipline plan should be put in place. In my setting, we used Lee Canter's model as we have a traffic light system. This is where the child will start on green and if they miss–behave they would go on orange and if they continue the behaviour they go on red. If the child is on red then the child will have a consequence such as missing sometime of their break. There are some benefits of using Ginott's model is that the adult or the teacher will treat children fairly and respectfully. Also, children are empowered to make their own decisions and adults and teachers will help children to deal with the problem themselves. Some benefits of using the assertive discipline model is that children will know what is accepted of them and adults should be consistent in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Mr Keating Conformity 1. Define and explain conformity as you see it play out in the film. Give a few examples. Conformity was present multiple times throughout the film. Not only did I observe it, but it was also defined by Mr. Keating during class time. Conformity is when one or a few people are influenced by a majority of other individuals to follow suit, hence not being themselves or expressing any creativity. Conformity is negative because it causing an individual to not express their opinions/beliefs and it is a non–individualized way of living. The obvious example from the film was when Mr. Keating explained conformity and how all the boys were walking at different paces and then it eventually became synchronized. Also, some of the boys began clapping along which then in turn resulted in all of the other boys clapping too. Another example is at the end ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mr. Keating stresses the importance of carpe diem within the very first class. He has a unique way of addressing this topic through showing them the pictures of the older individuals in the showcases in the hallway and how they once were in the same position of feeling invincible. The importance of this saying is that it is a constant reminder to make the most of our lifetime because someday we are all going to die. We cannot keep waiting to do great things in the future, but instead we need to be determined and take advantage of the now instead of the future. As Mr. Keating said, we need to make our lives extraordinary. This cannot happen if we do not live each day to it's fullest. Carpe diem made an impact on all of the boys which was noticeable throughout the movie. Two examples are, Neil trying out for the play and Knox calling the girl he likes. • 15. Literature Review On The Literature Of Classroom Management Literature Review Classroom management often called classroom discipline has been a priority for teachers. According to Evertson and Weinstein (2006), "classroom management has two purposes: It not only seeks to establish and sustain an orderly environment so students can engage in meaningful academic learning; it also aims to enhance student social and moral growth" (p 4). A study conducted by Weiner (2003) to understand why classroom management is such a problem in the urban schools, revealed that "so much in the school environment undercuts the social norm required for high academics functioning in urban classrooms, successful urban teachers must deeply embed classroom management in every aspect of classroom life, making the teaching of social skills a reflexive part of instruction" (p. 309). Arranging the physical environment of the classroom is one way to improve the learning environment and to prevent problem behaviours before they occur. Research on the classroom environment has shown that the physical arrangement can affect the behaviour of both students and teachers and that a well–structured classroom tends to improve student academic and behavioural outcomes (Walker, Colvin, & Ramsey, 1995; Savage, 1999). In addition, the classroom environment acts as a symbol to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is more of a democratic process. • 17. Gym Classes Should Be Mandatory For All Public Schools Physical Education in Schools May gym classes help students make better in all of their classes? Nowadays there is a problem with childhood obesity in USA schools. According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention. This may happen because young people are spending too many hours in front of computers and televisions, and they spend less time exercising in schools or outside of schools. Therefore, physical activities should be offer to students in schools. Physical activities such as, jogging, yoga, jump rope, aerobics, dance, etc. The practicing of this activities could impact in students' performance academic and health, but some parents and teachers might think that students should focus in other subjects like math, reading, writing, science instead of gym classes. Physical Education programs in schools should not be an option. Gym classes should be mandatory for all public schools in all grades in USA. First, physical activity in school would help students to improve their rate of academic learning. Children who are physically active would perform, retain, absorb and pay attention better at school and home, than students who are out of shape. 'A study, conducted by Bryan Mc Cullick, a kinesiology professor at the University of Georgia, examined all 50 of the United States and found six states where elementary schools followed recommended physical education at the middle school level, and no states had strong enough regulations at the high school level." However, studies show these norms are created and alter over time may change. Deviant acts are counteracted in to two groups: formal and informal. Formal deviance could be a criminal act by the law (such as: rape, murder or burning down a house), whereas social norms are informal deviance such as (traffic violation or dressing in gothic.) To understand deviant behavior, start by studying cultural and social norms. Norms differ across cultures, and in some cases behavior which is well–mannered or expected in one culture may be considered rude or inappropriate in another. Every society has their own laws, rules and informal social norms that aim to prevent people from committing deviant acts. Centuries ago, some behavior was considered deviant but, today is considered normal. For example, women were usually not expected or even allowed to work full time if they had babies. I was influenced the way I determine different actions or behavior in a particular situation since I was a child. In addition, this made me a have a particular ethical system that influences the way I work and act as an individual. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Based on the nature of the work, my ethical system at the workplace tends to be a combination of duty–based and goal–based. Duty–based is an "a moral obligation or commitment to act in a certain manner." For example, I work for the United States Postal Service and I am commitment to my work, which includes several tasks determined by the Postal Service rules and regulations. If I fail with one of this laws or rules I could be on probation or lose my job. Therefore, it is important that I obey those rules. In addition, all this tends to be influenced by the actual goal of the company and my personal goal. The company goal is to complete my assigned tasks in a timely manner, which is to deliver the mail. My personal goal is to produce money to sustain my family and pay my expenses. This personal goal drives me to be ethical and the do the right thing at my workplace because I do not want to put in jeopardy my job. This puts into play my personal family values. Therefore, my ethical system could be considered individualistic and very very competitive, which could impact my workplace in a negative way. On the other hand, this could turn out to be very positive because I am very reliable and undependable at work. Rule 3.15 states, "intentionally striking another student or other person against that person's will". Fighting in a school area is punishable by 45 days of alternative school (Class 3 Offense). • 27. No Pass No Play Essay Imagine working hard to be a professional athlete all through high school and applying for your dream college. Suddenly, they turn you down because you have failing grades. You realize you should have worked harder in school and focused in your classes more. In 1984, Texas passes the ''No Pass, No Play'' act in hopes of raising grades and increasing the importance of education by having a rule that students would have to have a 70% grade or above, which is a C, to be able to participate in extracurricular classes. This rule is smart, effective and helps students in more ways than one. First, it motivates students to learn and teaches responsibility. If a student gets a bad grade that means they won't be able to participate in their extra school activity for a period of time. This motivated students to get good grades and work harder in school. As my coaches say to me, student comes before athlete. The rule of getting bad grades means that you can't participate or the "No Pass, No play" rule, builds responsibility, your responsible for your future and what you want to do with it. You're responsible to get good grades and your reward is your extracurricular classes. It's like chores, you work and then you get allowance. Extracurricular classes are a privilege to work for. ... • 29. Classroom Management Philosophy Essay My classroom management philosophy has developed through many years of teaching experience, but through it all I believe all students can learn and grow, even students with special needs. I teach in a classroom designated for slow learners, many of which have cognitive impairments. My students may not learn in the same way as others or as much as other students, but they can learn and should be given that opportunity. I believe in focusing on my students' gifts and talents, not their disabilities and what they cannot do. As a self–contained special education teacher, I work with smaller groups of students than general education teachers. I also get to teach my students for multiple years. This allows me to do what I love– build relationships with students based on respect and a want to succeed. In a short amount of time, Mr. Devaughn will retire and leave the student body to wonder who will lead them next. In other words, that this is a moral universe, and that there are moral laws of the universe just as abiding as the physical laws." ― Martin Luther King Jr. Rules are the foundations of society. To manage society, you need rules and it also applies for schools to be managed. Rules are applied everywhere, even in schools. Without rules in schools, some students would wear more clothes slutty. The guys would have saggy pants and the girls would wear revealing clothes which is inappropriate. It is bad for kids to wear clothes to mature for their age because the kids that are yet to be exposed to the mature stuff will be exposed to the bad things. The Importance Of Humanism During The Renaissance During the fourteenth through the middle of the seventeenth century, the Renaissance in Europe brought "a humanistic revival of classical influence expressed in the arts and literature and by the beginning of modern science." (Merriam–Webster) The economy began to stabilize after the Middle Ages causing industries such as textile mills, mining, and metallurgy to flourish resulting in the circulation of currency, ideas, and goods. With the spread of ideas, new inventions were developed such as Johannes Gutenberg's printing press which allowed information and literature to be spread quickly and accurately and enabled a larger amount of the population to become literate and pursue higher education. Humanism was a major theme during the Renaissance with its focus on a way of life centered on human interests and values and the branches of learning such as philosophy, arts, and language. During the Renaissance, there was a debate on the soundness of education and what it could add to society. While some argued education in the liberal arts and classics would benefit society, others believed the education system was corrupt and would distract students from their responsibilities. No one should fault the school alone because the pressure that some of these student–athletes undergo is enormous, and they find it hard to keep up with schoolwork. All universities have minimum academic requirements that they should adhere to when selecting freshmen students. Gurney (43) posits the N.C.A.A. has specified the minimum academic requirements for universities selecting first–year student–athletes. Some of these requirements are followed, but since the high school test scores are low, the students find it difficult to cope with college academics (Gurney 42). Eligibility of student–athletes to participate in sporting activities is dependent on their academic performance (LaForge and Hodge 223). The N.C.A.A. has stated severally that it is charged with developing the rules and policies. The individual university and colleges are responsible for enforcing the rules and policies. In the case of U.N.C., the people charged with running the athletic program opted to ignore the policies and fake the student's class attendance. The article has only pointed out that the students were faking African and Afro–American studies classes (Sarah Lyall 1), but further investigation is required to establish if this was the only class faked. • 71. Multani Case The safety of students in the school environment is one the most importants aspects of school's code of conduct, especially since recently there has been a lot of public attention given to school shootng and just school violence in general. It's plausible to understand that rules prohibit students from bringing weapons to school, however do they rules have exceptions? Can the no weapons policy be overtunrned in certain scenerios, for instance if there is a Charter violation? This is the question asked in the case of Multani v. Commission scolaire Marguerite–Bourgeoys, involving an orthodox Sikh student, Gurbaj Multani. In November 2001, Multani accidentally dropped his kirpan shich is usually concealed under his clothing. From the very start this was a conterversial issue among members of the school board and community. The school board saw the kirpan as a dangerous weapon while Gubraj, his father, and other community members say the kirpan as a religious symbol. If the kirpan is prohibited, this imposes a limitation on Gurbaj's freedom of religion as stated in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The Kirpan can be compared to a cross that is worn by Christians as a symbol of their faith, it's not meant for violent purposes. Studying this case has the utmost importance as the questions and issues arising from this case are significant in today's educational system. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 77. Bell V. Itawamba County School Council Case Study Perhaps the most unsettling thing about Bell v. Itawamba County School Board, regardless of the final decision in favor of Bell, is the shockingly little attention the courts gave to the allegations made in the song. However, it is fairly reasonable that the court did not address the misconduct, as it was not the action in question. Perhaps a more unsettling aspect of this case is the lack of school response to the allegations made about the coaches. Bell's reasons for writing the song, as expressed in his testimony, were the complaints he had heard from female students at the school that they had been sexually harassed by the two coaches. Bell claimed that the reason he wrote a song rather than presenting this problem to administration was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The court found that the explicit content of the song, which can arguably be considered part of rap culture, was not a threat to the coaches, and ruled in favor of Bell after he appealed the district court's decision. The principal had no grounds to reprimand Bell for "P.S. Koaches", as it was not only created outside of the school's jurisdiction, but brought to light a glaring problem within the school. If the circumstances were different, and Bell's lyrics were slanderous, the coaches could take legal action towards him as individuals, however the school still could not take action. In the case that Bell had created the song with school equipment and distributed it through school affiliated channels, only then could he be punished. The best way to analyze the Bell decision, however, is to use the balance referenced by Justice John Roberts in Morse v. Frederick, which employs that if the importance of student speech is high, and the state interest in prohibiting it is low, then the court should rule in favor of the students (Morse). However when the opposite is true, and the importance of student speech is low, and the state interest in prohibiting it is high, then the court must rule in favor of the school district (Morse). In the case Bell v. Itawamba County School Board, the state's interest in prohibiting vulgar speech is far lesser than the importance of Bell's intent of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
